❚ i'm so sorry but 👁👄👁🔨
okay, first of all, no one's in trouble but i'm sorry for posting this only a few days after the last update, HOWEVER, i have a few things to say. first, the riverdale edit keeps getting longer and longer and it may be around 20 minutes so i'm thinking of posting it on the tkak youtube in, like, 10 minute parts. is that a good idea? like, a 20 minute cringe comp feels a bit long so i was thinking of breaking it up. so, would you guys rather me break it into parts or post it all together?
secondly, y'all, a lot of ocs are kinda vanilla and i don't mean that as an insult but let's try and not play it safe all the time. i know characters want to stay alive but it's so much fun when someone speaks out of turn or forgets to hold their tongue. get a bit treasonous, will you? get into an altercation, go behind the backs of family, friends, and lovers, please. i want more drama 😔. of course, not every character can be smart all the time. let people get suspicious of them, let them get caught doing something wrong or let them get caught lying, kiss someone in public, idec. again, no one's in trouble but i want to provide some drama options. characters really only become iconic by being dynamic and causing drama (until they're too problematic djdjdn). as of now, the only drama chains i can really think of are the interactions between silas & lilith, orla & celine, alistair & caine, zarya's execution, and [redacted]. of course, all chains have potential but i'm just including ones i've participated in/read that are almost completed or are completed (tbh i haven't stalked a lot of chains 💀 so this is just all i'm aware of).
anyways, i just wanted to talk about that because ocs can't just play it safe. you're in or you're out; you win or you lose, got it? safe means you're left behind, however, too risky means you're dead. so, just find a nice middle ground between safe and risky. give your character a hookup to be kept secret and/or make them a traitor against their family or their kingdom. make them a spy. hell, if you want, you can start your own murder plot (of course, that'd involve talking to me about it first). your character can even spontaneously get engaged out of love or mutual interest (although, if it's out of love then it should wait a bit). so, those are just a few ideas, but can you see how that would make things much more interesting? throwing in a few insults won't do anything if there's nothing else to it.
so, basically what i'm saying is: plot some murders (and perhaps execute them), backstab people, sabotage people and secure them a spot on the chopping block, turn traitor against your kingdom, blackmail someone for a position of power, sabotage someone and then play the victim (like, pull a pre-roleplay lysandra and poison or injure yourself and play the clueless victim role after), have an affair for power purposes, place your family in a position to take the throne once things start to turn ugly for the current royal family, etc. so, you see, there are many ways to make character arcs more interesting. make them good, make them morally gray, make them evil, idc. sometimes we love the bad guys, right? personally, i prefer moral ambiguity and characters who do bad things for the right reasons.
anyways, i'm just saying get riskier with your character's words and actions. give stefan and others in positions of power a reason to try and condemn them. let them stab people in the back and then play the victim. please. that would literally be so much fun 👁👄👁
of course, i'm not saying there's anything wrong with someone playing it safe. that's smart. however, not everyone has to be smart. trust me, people will love the character and the chain more if there's drama to it. instead of exchanging idle threats, shove someone off a balcony 👄 i'm only half kidding lmao. you can't just go and kill someone without asking (and it depends on the character djdjfn). of course, some ocs will have the special privilege to try and condemn someone (or condemn someone without any kind of trial). in other words, the council and the royals could literally just point a finger and immediately put someone under pressure to try and prove their innocence of whatever crime has been committed. let's say, for example, the queen sent a raunchy letter to a stable boy. well, cut off her head and hang, draw, and quarter him 👁👁. of course, he'd be tortured until he confessed and she'd simply be questioned before any kind of sentencing. either way, the tale ends in their deaths. however, not all drama plots end this way. some plots can be executed successfully but some might turn out bad. either way, everything is more interesting when there's risk and stakes, don't you agree?
okay okay, i'm done now, i promise 👈🏼👉🏼 also, i'm sorry for how atrocious my writing was in this a/n but 😀 my writing inspo went 📉📉. i mean, it's still readable 🥴🥴🔨
p.s. y'all may or may not hate me for next chapter.
