chapter forty-six;

━━━━━━ "ONEE-CHAN, WE'RE BACK!!", KAORU screamed, nicely dragging eri across the palace as it was as silent as death.

it was an ominous feeling, but nevertheless, kaoru and eri had ventured through the seemingly empty palace, with inasa awkwardly trudging behind.

the dark-haired male wrinkled his nose as he knew what had went on today, to which he had wished he could stay to help but no, kisa had wanted him to specifically follow her brother and eri and protect those two brats.

     "nee-chan!!"

kaoru suddenly gasped as he found the girl lying with dabi on one of the mats, under one of the shading areas.

"kaoru, eri, you two are back", kisa smiled, waving for the two children to come over and sit beside her.

"mhm!! we had lots of fun with inasa nii-chan too!!", kaoru laughed, giving the male a thumbs up as inasa awkwardly glanced away.

     "that sounds splendid", kisa smiled, trying to keep up the act as her insides were hurting like hell.

     "mhm! where's everyone else? it's so quiet here", kaoru asked, to which kisa had patted the little boy's head.

     "there's going to be some changes in the next few months around here, kaoru", kisa started.

"like?"

"like my coronation", the woman smiled, to which kaoru's eyes had widened.

"you...you did it?"

"I did", she breathlessly replied, to which kaoru had started tearing up, making eri slightly concerned.

"nee-chan...I'm so happy for you", kaoru cried, sobbing into the girl's shoulder as she just chuckled, kissing the boy's forehead.

"thank you kaoru. starting tomorrow, we'll rebuild this empire together", kisa whispered, making kaoru nod as he sniffled more.

"but first, why don't you and eri go wash up? I'd like to have a talk with my husbands privately", kisa suggested, to which the boy had held eri's hand and rushed off.

     inasa hurried over to his wife's side, helping her sit up as dabi stayed laying down, groaning at his scars.

     "when will tomura be ready?", the half-demon inquired.

"the scientist said at least another month or two, at the fastest", inasa informed.

"and kai?"

"I heard he's successfully gotten ahold of all the quirk-canceling bullets possible and spread it to many villains that are related to the meta liberation army and league", inasa replied.

"perfect. dabi and I will be resting up in this next month or so. however, I will fix this place up before I leave", kisa stated.

"will the demons be participating in our fight too?", dabi asked, his voice coming out a bit rough.

"obviously. the more help, the better", kisa smirked.

"I hereby announce tamotsu kisa as the new empress!", one of the kitsunes deeply shouted, placing the crown on the girl's head as her short locks dipped a bit along with her hair.

     not only was the woman wearing a nine-layered jūnihitoe, the features on her face was beyond proud, almost condescending, if you will.

     she had reached her goal, and it never failed to make her feel accomplished.

kisa then turned around as the entire land of yōkai bowed down to her, pressing their foreheads against the ground as they recognized the woman as their new ruler.

"may you live for eternity, empress kisa!"

"you may all rise!", kisa commanded, to which everyone had done as told as their eyes and ears were only on the woman.

"as empress, I hereby declare some new changes.

first off, our lands will be separated under the rulings of: the onis, the tengus, the yuki onnas, and the kappas. though I will overrule all, kitsunes will live in the center of the land, where the castle will stand. all lands will maintain peace for eternity!

second off, those that defy me, will ultimately be punished. do not test my patience.

third off, in about two months, we will head to the human world to instill a war against those prejudiced heroes. weapons will be provided and so will earnings. the demon that takes down the most heroes and humans will earn the new title as commander!"

everyone started gossiping as they suddenly all kneeled down on one knee once more.

     "WE SHALL FOLLOW YOU TO THE ENDS OF THE WORLD, EMPRESS KISA!!"

     kisa grinned as she nodded with approval. the woman then elegantly trickled down the stairs as she met with bakugo and todoroki, who just watched from behind the curtains of the palace.

"I'm sure the title doesn't matter to you, but it's the idea of taking down your father, isn't it, todoroki?", kisa whispered, her breath fanning the boy's ear.

bakugo would've slapped the girl away if it weren't for todoroki's response.

"I hope you know I do not intend to fall into your plans about attacking the humans. we will stop you once I take down my father", todoroki muttered.

     "pity~ you and bakugo would've made such brilliant villains. honestly, what has the world done for you, hm?

     todoroki, don't forget that the only reason you're born is because your father wished for you to bypass all might.

     you entire existence here is nothing more than just a tool", the woman harshly muttered as she swiftly left, leaving the boy clenching his fists and gritting his teeth.

     bakugo then held todoroki's hand.

     "we'll take her down together afterwards", he seriously said, to which todoroki had relaxed a little as he nodded.

     "thank you, katsuki".

     meanwhile kisa was strolling through the palace, she had saw dabi sitting on one of the outdoor benches, to which the woman had smiled as she quickly covered the male's eyes.

"guess who?", she asked, not even bothering changing her voice as she knew dabi would've figured it out anyways.

"my secret girlfriend that my wife doesn't know about?", dabi playfully asked.

kisa chuckled as she uncovered the man's eyes.

"apologies that I'm not her then", the dark-haired woman smiled as she took a seat beside the scarred male.

"feeling a bit better? I know I asked you earlier, but I can't help but be worried", kisa said.

"sure", dabi sighed out, his hand resting against kisa's that was placed against his cheek.

"what will you do after we conquer the human world?", kisa asked, her sunshine yellow eyes glimmering a little as she watched dabi's mouth curl up into a smirk.

     "so confident?"

     "aren't you? after all, you four have me", kisa assured.

     "touché. however, if we don't win, we'll fend the others off and give you an esca—"

     kisa covered the man's mouth with her hand as she slowly shook her head.

     "we will not lose. I guarantee it", kisa sternly yet softly mumbled, her eyes holding such certainty and clarity.

     dabi nodded as he kissed the girl's palm, holding her wrist.

     "if we were to win, I'd love to live forever with you in this world or the other. it doesn't really matter to me. I know crusty, germaphobe, and whale face probably wants to be the ruler or some shit, but not me.

     I just want to stay beside you", dabi stated.

kisa's heart swooned, even if it was just a little.

"your wish is my desire, darling".
