chapter twenty-six;
━━━━━━ "IT'S TIME TO WAKE UP, DIDN'T YOU WANT to come to work with me today?", inasa softly mumbled as he tapped kisa's back.
"can't we go later?", kisa grumbled, clutching tighter to inasa's black sweater.
"you can, but I'm the director", inasa reasoned, trying to pry off kisa's inhuman grip.
"kisa..."
"mm...inasa...", kisa mumbled, yawning as she finally let go, to which the dark-haired male had took this as a chance to escape.
quickly doing his normal morning routine and accessorizing with gold rings and watches, inasa locked his helmet as he usually didn't eat breakfast anyways.
"kisa, last warning, or I'm leaving without you", inasa said, to which kisa had leisurely risen from the bed, rubbing her eyes as she stretched her body, sliding off the warm bed.
stumbling towards her own room, the girl hastily changed into some black leather jeans, a matching dark shirt and a white fur coat.
washing her face and taking a while to brush her obnoxiously long hair, kisa slipped on some pearly white heels as she headed downstairs, where inasa was already waiting.
"what are we having for breakfast today?", kisa asked, kissing the right side of inasa's cheek.
"I don't usually eat breakfast", inasa replied, grabbing a random key from his bowl of even more keys and heading towards the garage, where plenty of shiny cars were parked.
"but breakfast is the most important meal of the day. or at least that's what you humans say", kisa chuckled as inasa opened the door for kisa to get in first.
"I suppose a short stop won't hurt", the male mumbled as he started speed driving down the road, picking up some fast food as he rushed to the aquarium.
there was still an hour or two before the aquarium actually opened. though most would assume that the aquarium was littered with trash and unclean, it was quite the opposite here.
if people didn't know, some might have even mistaken this for a professional entertainment facility.
with a royal red rug leading down the hall, and multiple tanks of different sized and colored fish, it never ceased to amaze kisa how beautiful these sea creatures were.
"are you finished eating? the meeting's now", inasa said, to which kisa just nodded as she threw her trash away.
with inasa pushing through a set of heavy doors, kisa followed behind as many heads turned around at the new girl.
inasa sat at the head of the table, meanwhile kisa took a seat on his lap since there were no other chairs open.
inasa's workers flinched at the sight, with the exception of bearhead of course, of their short-tempered boss with a woman.
the dark-haired male didn't seem affected, as he started the meeting as if kisa wasn't there.
throughout the boring meeting, the dark-haired girl took out her phone, scrolling through wikipedia, as she learned quite a bit about humans and their history.
though it could only keep kisa entertained for so long, as history wasn't a particular favorite of hers.
glancing upwards at inasa, who was intently listening to one of his subordinates talk, kisa internally sighed as there was still another hour or so until the aquarium officially opened.
"inasa, I'm bored~", kisa softly whined, wrapping her arms around the male's neck as inasa nearly got suffocated from the faux fur jacket that kisa was wearing.
"quit distracting me", inasa lowly growled, to which a few heads turned before focusing back on the main speaker.
"it's our honeymoon. we should be staying at a beach house, or speeding down the road and racing with humans, or anything fun. meetings are so boring", kisa huffed.
"our definition of fun is on different ends of the spectrum. I prefer attending meetings so I can dominante the human world sooner", inasa mumbled, to which kisa had looked into inasa's bored eye.
"but one day off won't hurt you. I'm sure you got a lot done last week when I was with kai", kisa reasoned, to which inasa just stayed silent.
"excuse me, but could you please quiet down? I'm presenting for the boss over here", the seahorse-like man suddenly loudly spoke.
indeed, inasa's workers mostly consisted of humans whose quirks either related to water or their mutation had made them look like the sea animals trapped in those clear tanks themselves.
kisa clicked her tongue, as she was about to snap her fingers and set the seahorse looking male on fire until inasa held the girl's hand.
"she's my wife, and I expect you all to treat her with the same respect—fear—that you treat me with. anyways, we'll end the meeting here for today. you're all dismissed", inasa reprimanded as kisa hopped of the male's lap.
the fox girl then grinned as she waited for inasa to stand up, pulling him towards her as she placed a quick kiss on his uncovered face.
with inasa escorting the girl out the room, kisa glanced back at the seahorse male and discreetly flipped him off, making the seahorse grit his teeth in fury.
"did you want to take a look around the aquarium before it officially opened?", inasa asked, to which kisa just nodded as inasa held onto kisa by her waist.
as inasa and kisa walked past the many tanks of water with beautiful fish swimming around freely, there was also an open area of water, where it was calm and serene.
"is this for the humans to watch the dolphins perform?", kisa asked.
"no. it's for humans to watch a beluga whale", inasa corrected, totally serious.
"I thought you humans preferred dolphins?"
"well, do you prefer dolphins or whales?", inasa asked, looking down at kisa.
the girl lightly snorted, punching inasa's cheek. "are you comparing yourself to dolphins?"
inasa's brow furrowed as he looked away, slapping kisa's hand away from his face in the process.
"no, I was just wondering", the male harshly muttered.
kisa chuckled as she tightly embraced the male, getting a waft of his expensive cologne in the process.
"if it makes you feel any better, you're my favorite", kisa said, to which inasa just clicked his tongue.
"I told you, I was just wondering".
"hm, then I suppose you should replace the beluga whale with dolphins then", kisa hummed, to which inasa harshly pried the girl off of him as he walked off, making kisa laugh.
as the fox girl caught up to her husband, kisa intertwined her fingers amongst inasa's, walking deeper into the elegantly decorated aquarium.
suddenly, kisa gasped, making inasa halt as the girl hastily skipped over to the glass panes that concealed the freezing water from spilling out.
on the blocks of ice were grey, black and white creatures waddling around, with beaks that reminded kisa of chisaki's plague mask.
"penguins...", the girl softly muttered.
"those took a hassle to import from antarctica", inasa stated, standing beside kisa with his hands in his pockets.
"hm...can we go feed them?", kisa asked, to which inasa hesitated before answering.
"didn't you want to go have lunch?"
"a little while won't hurt", kisa smiled as she pulled inasa towards the employee's only door.
changing into some snow boots, kisa's nose wrinkled at the smell of dead fish. though nevertheless, she wanted to feed the penguins, so hence the girl grabbed the handle of the little orange bucket.
"inasa, come on!", kisa urged as she also slipped on a pair of gloves, setting the bucket down as she picked up one of the dead fish, dangling it in front of a few penguins.
"come on cutie, take it", kisa cooed as the penguin snatched the fish out of kisa's hand, gobbling it down as the girl smiled, gently scratching the penguin's tummy.
"inasa, you try", kisa suggested, to which the male had begrudgingly squatted down alongside kisa, taking a fish and holding it out for the penguins to take.
though no penguins dared to inch closer to inasa, not that the male minded much.
kisa then held onto inasa's hand, to which a brave penguin had waddled forward, gently taking the fish from inasa's hand as it went back to its friends.
"well wasn't that adorable?", kisa giggled, taking out her phone and catching inasa off guard with a picture.
"delete that", inasa demanded.
"it's a precious memory", kisa grinned, as she kissed the top of inasa's forehead and carried the orange bucket back into the room.
inasa lowly uttered a few curse words as he stood up, taking the gloves off as kisa proceeded to do the same.
"lunch?"
"if you're paying", kisa winked.
