xv. my dad didn't strut, nor do i (LIE)

โ˜… โ˜… โ˜…

"Mischief managedโ€” nox!" Harry mutters, the hallway suddenly going dark.

"Potter. What are you doing, wandering the corridors at night?" Snape said.

"I was sleepwalking." He said plainly.

"How extraordinary like your father you are, Potter." Snape sneered, "He too was exceedingly arrogant, always strutting about the castle."

"My dad didn't strut, and nor do I," Harry remarked, "now do if you don't mind, I'd appreciate it if you could lower your wand."

Snape smirks slightly before lowering his wand to Harry's pockets, "Turn out your pockets, Potter!"

Harry didn't move, trying to stay as calm as possible.

"Turn out your pockets, or we go straight to the headmasters! Pull them out, Potter!"

With dread, Harry slowly pulled out the mauraders map that's shown to be some parchment, "what is this?" Snape questions.

"Spare bit of parchment."

Snape took it out his grasp before looking at Harry, his eyebrows raised.

"Surely you don't need such an old piece of parchment?" He said, "why don't I justโ€” throw it away?"

"No!" Harry blurts out.

"So!" Said Snape, "what is thisโ€” but not a bit of parchment, perhaps, a letter, written by invisible ink? Orโ€” is it instructions to get into Hogsmeade without passing the Dementors?"

"Let me see . . Let me see. . ." he mutters whilst pointing his wand to the map, "reveal your secrets!"

Nothing happened.

"Show yourself!" Snape snapped, tapping the map sharply.

It stayed blank, Harry was taking, deep, calm breaths.

"Professor Severus Snape, master of this school, commands you to yield the information you conceal." Snape said loosing his temper.

As though an invisible hand were writing upon it, words appear on the smooth surface of the map.

"Moony presents his compliments to Professor Snape, and begs him to keep his abnormally large nose out of other people's business."

Snape froze.

"Mr. Prongs agrees with Mr. moony and would like to add that Professor Snape is an ugly git."

Harry would have laughed if it wasn't for the situation . . .

"Miss. Paws would like to ask Professor Snivvy, how a greasy git like him, became a professor? I would've thought the oil from his head travelled to his brain preventing him from doing anything in life, how stupid dumbles was to make Snivellus a professor!"

Snape is scarlet after his old nickname.

"Mr. Padfoot agrees with Miss. Paws and would like to register his astonishment that an idiot like that ever became a Professor."

Harry closes his eyes in horror. When he'd opened them again, the map had its last word.

"Mr Wormtail, bids Professor Snape good day, and advices him to wash his hair, the slimeball."

Harry accidentally let out a snort at the last sentence making the man snap his head towards him with a menacing glare,

"Why you insolent littleโ€”"

"Professor!" Remus calls out, stopping Snape from finishing his sentence.

"Well. . Well, Lupin." Snape sneers, "out for a little walk in the moonlight, are we?"

Harry looks confused at how the man is trying to imply something.

Remus ignores Snape's words and looks over at his nephew, "Harry are you alright?"

"That remains to be seen." Snape answers before the boy can open his mouth.

"I have just now confiscated a rather curious artefact from Mr Potter," Snape continues, "Take a look Lupin, supposed to be your area of expertise."

He takes the parchment from Snape, his eyes widen at the familiar looking map.

"Clearly it's full of dark magicโ€”"

"Full of dark magic?" He repeated mildly, "Do you really think so, Severus? It looks to me as though it is merely a piece of parchment that insults anybody who reads it. Childish, but surely not dangerous? I imagine Harry got it from the joke shopโ€”"

"Indeed?" Said Snape, His jaw clenched with anger, "You think a joke shop could supply him with such a thing? You don't think it more likely that he got it directly from the manufactures?"

"You mean, by Mr.Wormtail or one of these people?" He said, "Harry, do you know any of these men or this lady?"

"No." He answered quickly.

"You see Severus?" Remus said, "I suspect it's a zonko product!" he chuckles and when Snape tried to take it back he holds it out his reach, "nevertheless, I shall investigate any hidden qualities it may posses, โ€” it is, after all, as you say, my area of expertise." he slightly mocks before turning to the young boy, "Harry, would you come with me please?"

"Professor, goodnight!" Remus says to Snape before the duo walks off.

As they walk through to his classroom, Harry turned to Remus.

"Remus Iโ€”"

"I don't want to hear any explanations," said Lupin shortly, he glanced around the empty entrance hall and lowered his voice, "I happen to know that this map was confiscated by Mr. Filch many years ago. Yes, I know it's a map," he said as Harry looks amazed, "I don't want to know how it fell into your possession. I am, however astounded that you didn't hand it in. Or give it to me or Sirius, I know he has told you about it. Particularly after what happened last time a student left information about the castle lying around. And I can't let you have it back, Harry."

He wanted to protest, but the he saw the stern look on his face so he didn't.

"Why did Snape think I'd got it from the manufacturers?"

"Because. . ." He hesitated, "because these mapmakers would want to lure you out of school. They'd think it extremely entertaining."

"Do you know one of them?"

"We've met, that's where Sirius' stories come from," he gives the boy a half truth, he was now looking more serious than Harry's ever seen him look.

"Don't expect me to cover up for you again, Harry. I cannot make you take Miralette Crouch seriously. But I would have thought what you have heard when the dementors draw near you would have more of an effect of your life. Your father never set much store by the rules either, but he and your mother gave their lives to save yours. Gambling their sacrifice by wandering the castle unprotected, with a killer on the loose, seems to me a poor way to repay them."

Harry nods sadly looking down, he has never see him look this angry before.

"Now, I want you to return to your dormitory and stay there," Lupin said, "โ€” and don't take any detours, if you do. . I shall know."

Before Harry leaves the classroom he turns back around and calls out for the man. "Remus, just so you know, I don't think that map always works."

"Earlier on it showed someone in the castle. Someone I know to be dead." He added

"Oh really?" Asked remus, "Who might that be?"

"Peter Pettigrew."

Remus goes pale white and slowly shakes his head, "that's not possible. . ."

"It's just what I saw." Harry states before saying goodnight and leaving.

โ˜… โ˜… โ˜…

In the middle of divination, Hermione stormed out the class, knocking a ball down. Whilst Harry was leaving he picked it up and brought it back to the classroom.

He walks in and places it on the table but looks down to see Voldemorts reflection before turning around to see his Professor seeing a vision.

"he will return tonightโ€”"

"Sorry?"

"he who betrayed his friends, whose heart rots with murder . . shall break free," he doesn't take notice on the pronouns saying he instead of she and looks frightened, "innocent blood shall be spilt, and servant and master shall be reunited once more!"

After the vision Harry walks out, breathing heavily in the information he had just heard.
