Lucy looked outside and her face fell.
"It's raining!"
Peter looked up from his homework.
"Mhm", he hummed.
Lucy sat down to the floor, clearly disappointed.
"I like it, when the sun shines", she said sadly.
"But without the rain, you probably wouldn't like the sun, because it would be everything you know", Peter said, trying to continue with his homework.
"Yeah", Lucy said, sounding not really convinced.
"And there wouldn't be rainbows", Peter said.
"What is a rainbow?", Lucy asked.
Peter chuckled.
"You really don't know, hm? Maybe there will be one, then I could show you!"
"But I want to know what it is!!", Lucy said, got up and looked at him.
"Please!!"
Peter chuckled and turned back to his homework.
Lucy sighed.
"Please, Peter! Pleeeaaseee!"
"If I'm done with my homework!", he declared.
"But not one second later!", Lucy said, staring firmly into his eyes.
Peter chuckled as he watched her leave the room.
When he was done, it was still raining but Peter could see a few specks of sunshine on the ground.
"Lucy!", he called.
She came running in.
"What is this rainbow now?", she said, grinning brightly.
Peter searched a little bit in the sky.
"Look, there", he said smiling. "In the sky!"
"There are...colours", Lucy said surprised.
"Yes. These colours are the rainbow", Peter said.
"But how do they exist?"
"Well, if it rains and the sun shines, the sun light gets parted because of the raindrops and because the sun light is white and white is a mix of all the colours, the light gets parted into different colours, red, yellow, blue. But because these colours mix into each other, there are also orange, green and violett", Peter explained.
Lucy frowned.
"That...is complicated", she said.
Peter laughed.
"Yes, it is."
