Richard Pevensie sat in his room, closed his notebook, and sighed while looking at the heavy curtains, that were pulled in front of the window.
The room was dark, the only light came from the small lamp on his desk.
He got up and pulled the curtains back.
A bright light shone into his eyes and he blinked a few times before he looked into the sky.
He loved looking into the sky and feeling a cool breeze while the sun was shining.
If he had decided where the Pevensies lived, they would have lived on a small farm maybe, far away from London and all the trouble.
But Helen, his wife, had always loved the big city and she wouldn't give this life away for anything in the world.
And as long as she was happy, Richard was too.
A soft knock on the door pulled him back to reality.
„Yes?“, he said and turned around.
His youngest son, Edmund, came in.
„Are you finished with work?“, Edmund asked.
Richard nodded. „Yes, I am. Does Mum want me to come?“
„No...“, Edmund said shyly and closed the door behind him.
Richard sat down on his chair and lifted Edmund to his lap.
When he sat Edmund turned around to face his dad.
„Do you have...you know... a hero or something like that...?“, Edmund asked.
Richard wondered what that question should mean, but Edmund looked at him so curious, that he thought a while.
His hero.
Who could that be?
„Ed?“
„Hm?“
„I think my hero is your mum. And you and Peter, and Susan and Lucy of course-“
„So you can have more than one hero?“, Edmund asked excitedly.
„Uhm...yes?“, Richard asked confused.
Edmund jumped down, raced out of the door, called a quick:„Thank you, Dad!“, and was gone.
„Peter!!“, he yelled.
Richard chuckled, still a bit confused.
„Dad?“, Susan asked, coming in.
„Yes, dear?“
„What happened?“, she said, confused.
„I have no idea“, he said smiling.
Susan seemed to realise something.
„He asked you about something with hero, right?!“, she suddenly asked sharply.
Richard was just more confused.
Susan interpreted his confusion right.
„That little..“, she mumbled, interrupted herself and ran away, and shouted, just like Edmund, the name of her older brother.
„Peter!!“
What was going on?

The next day started rather interesting. When he came into the dining room, the small Lucy stopped in her movement and said with a loud and clear voice:„Good morning, Dad!“
In the kitchen, he heard things falling down and people panicking, while trying to be as quiet as they could.
„Good morning, Lucy“, he said, a smirk on his face.
„So, what is going in here?“, he asked, sitting down on a place from where he could see into the kitchen.
Peter and Susan stood in there.
When Peter noticed, that his sister was in "danger", he quickly left the kitchen and Susan, sat down next to his dad as normal as possible and said:„Nothing's going on, what should go on? I mean, why should we do something?“
Richard raised an eyebrow.
Peter's smile faded.
Richard started to laugh.
Edmund came down the stairs.
„Have you ruined it now?“, he asked.
„We have ruined nothing, what should we ruin?“, Susan asked, sounding nervous.
Richard looked at every one of his children, all four of them looking nervous.
„So. What's going on?“
Peter sighed.
„We wanted to bake a cake for mum, for when she comes home“, he said, ignoring the strange look from his younger siblings.
„And you couldn't tell me?“
Peter shook his head.
„It wouldn't have been a surprise“, he said, while he shrugged.
„Do you need help?“
„No, absolutely not, negative, no way!“
A wall of text from all four dropped over him and laughing he said:„Okay, okay! But if something happens, I am in my room!“
With that, he disappeared again and the four siblings looked at each other in relief.

When Helen came home, no cake was ready. But Richard was too busy, to notice.
The children in the kitchen decided, that Edmund should go upstairs and ask their mother for help.
When she came down and saw the chaos in the kitchen, she wanted to call for her husband, but her children quickly shushed her.
„We want to make a cake for tomorrow!“, Lucy said.
Helen smiled.
„And we want to write something on it“, Edmund went on.
„But we can't find anything how you make that thing you write with!“, Susan said frustrated.
Helen laughed a little.
„What colours do you need?“

When Richard woke up the next morning and walked into the dining room, he saw a dark chocolate cake on the table, with blue lettering that said:
Our hero.
„Happy Birthday“, said a voice behind him.
Richard turned around to see Peter smiling at him.
„Thank you“, Richard said and pulled his son into a hug.
„PETER!!“, his siblings yelled.
„I thought, we wanted to jump from behind the table!“, Lucy said.
„Yes, you ruined everything!“, Edmund said.
„Well, I wouldn't exactly say ruined-“, Susan said, but quickly stopped when she saw the death glares that Lucy and Edmund sent up to her.
„Well, Happy Birthday, Dad“, Edmund said then and hugged him.
And Lucy beamed:„Happy Birthday!“, and hugged both Edmund and her Dad.
When she finally let go, after many complaints of Edmund, Susan finally got to say "Happy Birthday" and (to Lucy's and Edmund's joy) turned to the cake.
„Did you make it?“, Richard asked, smiling softly.
„Well, we all tried to help but Peter did the most and Lucy thought of the thing we wrote on there“, Edmund said.
„I didn't really like it, because I couldn't really decide who was my "hero", and I didn't want to lie, but when you said, that I can have more than one hero, everything worked out.“
Richard chuckled and Susan rolled her eyes.
„Well, if Peter did it, I hope it's not burned“, Richard said teasingly.
Peter groaned and everyone else burst out into laughter.
