Polly looked around happily, into all the happy faces, until she saw Digory, standing next to her and smiling as brightly as she did.
"Eternal life", he whispered. "Isn't that what we dreamed of? To live forever in Narnia?"
"It is", Polly said. "Ever since we came back."
They watched as the sun slowly set and the fireflies appeared.
But the upcoming dark didn't seem to disturb anyone, it made everything just even happier.
"It looks all so magical", Polly said. "Almost as magical as Aslan's song."
Diggory nodded and his long golden beard glistened in the golden sun.
"Speaking of Aslan's song...", Diggory started.
His voice sounded different now, not as firm and festive as it had before.
"The lamppost is still here, you know..."
"What do you want to tell me with that?", Polly asked.
"Well, maybe our toffee tree is also still here", Digory said, with an almost shy voice.
Polly's face lighted up.
"Last one there's a rotten egg!", she said and started to run.
Digory laughed and Polly swore that this wasn't the laugh of an old, wise man, it was the laugh of a boy from the country side that was off with his best friend to live some adventures.
