3rd person POV
Mikaelson Mansion, Mystic Falls

"Where did Nik go?" Rebekah finally asks, breaking the unsteady silence after Kaitlyn walked back inside with Hope and Ryan.

"I...I don't know," Elijah replies and before he can elaborate, Kol cuts in.

"What do you mean you don't know? You were with him. Lyn needs him now and he ran off to somewhere on his own business?" he yells and a lot of the others nod. Elena notices Damon fuming and holds onto his hand, comfortingly squeezing it while hoping he too didn't lash out now.

Elijah sighs loudly and sits down on a backyard bench, looking down at his hands before looking back at everyone's expectant expression. He then goes on to tell them what had happened, how long Klaus had spent inside the plot and how he was being cryptic when he joined Elijah later on.

"He then snapped my neck, before I could even react. And when I awoke, probably about an hour later or so, he was gone, his phone was crushed on the floor and I just found these two letters in my suit pocket. In mine, he asked me to forgive him and apologize to everyone on his behalf. He also asked me to look after Kaitlyn and Hope while he is away," Elijah finishes explaining and everyone looks at him with a dumbfounded look.

"He said 'while he is away'? So he's not just gone, he'll come back to her soon," Caroline states, being the always-optimistic one but everyone looks at her with solemn expressions.

"I don't know, Care. It sounded an awful lot like a goodbye," Elena mutters as the rest of the Scooby Gang nod and the Mikaelsons look at each other with ashamed expressions.

"I," Damon starts to speak up next, "I am going to kill him this time. I knew it, I knew someone like him would never change and he'd end up hurting Lyn all over again! I knew it, Elena I even told you but you guys were too busy living in fantasy land where 'true love prevails' and all that bullshit to see that he is Klaus Mikaelson, he doesn't care for anyone but himself and he doesn't keep his promises. He wrecked her last time, Kol you were there, you saw how terrible she was. You, of all people, know Lyn as well as we do. Admit it, deep down we all saw this coming, him breaking her heart all over again!" he lashes out as everyone tries to avert eye contact with each other.

"No he didn't plan for this to happen. He just asked her to marry him! He wouldn't have proposed if he didn't love her and want a future with her!" Rebekah defends her brother.

"Then where is he? Where is he now, when yet again, Lyn needs him more than ever to be by her side? Why isn't he here now if he is so in love with her?" Damon fires back and that immediately shuts Rebekah up, as even she couldn't comprehend an answer to that.

"Look, we don't know what is going through Nik's mind. This was stupid of him to do but we can't get sidetracked now. If Nik isn't here, we need to stay strong for Lyn and be focused on the twins. So let's not argue among ourselves right now," Kol points out as Elena and Caroline nod.

Klaus' POV
Leipzig, Germany

It had already been over 24 hours since I left Elijah in Italy after snapping his neck and talking to Kaitlyn for what might've been the last time in a long, long while. She said she was going to go through with her plan of venturing into the Supernatural Plane again. I am pretty sure she must've followed through by now and no one was able to stop her. She's stubborn that way, another thing her and I had in common. One trait, though, that she had and I wish I did too was her big heart, her fearlessness. I might be the big, bad hybrid that everyone feared but I was always scared too. Scared of being left alone, of not being loved, not being enough, of betrayal and getting hurt by letting someone in. I had done all of these things to Kaitlyn and yet she never turned her back to me. Besides my family, she was the only other person who was able to read me like an open book, who was always able to see right through me and I betrayed her trust yet again, just when she needed me there the most.

Kaitlyn was undoubtedly the strongest person I know. She had been hurt and left in the dust many times, by many people but that never stopped her from being her warm and loving self. She had abandonment issues, separation anxiety and even then, she never backed away from loving someone and being there for them, knowing full well that they might not do the same for her if the situations were reversed.

"I might have abandonment issues but I'm not scared of getting hurt, Nik. I mean, yeah it's scary but I don't let that stop me from loving and caring for someone. If anything, it makes me want to cherish every possible second with them even more. If I stopped caring and shut people out because I was too scared of them leaving, breaking my heart or not doing the same for me, I wouldn't have anything left. I never had a family so whoever offers me the comfort and love of one, I'd give them the world. I don't do something for others hoping they'll reciprocate it when the time comes. I do it because I feel as though they deserve that support from me, no strings attached. Some might think it's stupid but it's who I am and I don't intend on changing anytime soon," she had once told me when I tried to point out how her Scooby Gang didn't care for her as much as she did for every one of them.

Now, I was here in Germany, chasing the first of the many leads that I need to overcome in order to save my daughter, our daughter, as well as the rest of all supernaturals. The ache is my heart hasn't subdued yet and I doubt it ever will, until I get back to my family, my daughter, my soulmate. Even then, who knows how they might react to all this. Kaitlyn, of all people, deserves to know about this danger lurking over our daughter but I can't tell her or anyone and risk speeding up the curse, especially since we don't know how much time there is left until this 'inevitable doom'. When I do go back, will they even hear me out? What if Hope hates me for leaving her again? What if Lyn hates me? What if they decide they want nothing to do with me?

No, I can't be thinking this way now or I won't be able to stop myself from rushing back to them. And I can't afford to do that. I need to save my daughter first. Besides, Kaitlyn was a part of my broken sireline if it was Damon's blood that had turned her. So she was in risk too. I needed to save my girls. The people I loved more than life itself.

With that thought, I make my way over to my next destination, hoping to get all this over with sooner than later.

3rd person POV
Supernatural Plane

Catherine Hart and Sheila Bennett had sent out word all over their witch contacts to look for a certain Josette Parker among the sea of supernaturals residing here. The Supernatural Plane was a strange place. It was mysterious and had no specific order in which things worked. Unlike the Other Side, not all supernatural entities could contact each other and live amongst each other. Vampires were usually sorted into these personal worlds inside the Plane, where it was just them and eventually, they would be allowed to join with their deceased loved ones when it was thought the time was right. Who decided that? No one knew for sure. There was a Heaven, there was a Hell and there was the mid-reign. The witches usually got to live in groups, family or coven-wise while werewolves too got sorted into personal worlds within the Plane, but they too got to live amongst their packs. Each pack got their own interdimensional worlds.ย

All other mixed supernatural entities like heretics, siphoners, banshee etc. lived either in the mid-reign or were sorted into Heaven or Hell in general and got to live amongst each other instead of being sorted out as well. So it was fair to say whoever created or controlled this place was particularly fond of witches and not so much fond of vampires. Maybe it was some powerful ancient witch or a group of them who favored their kind and kept the vampire abominations away.

Right now, Catherine and Sheila were barking orders at their companions who had travelled all over the Plane, assembling their experienced mind in finding a way to save Lady Catherine's granddaughters. Kaitlyn was a lot like her mother so it was fair to say Catherine was loved and cherished by all withces, both here and back in the real world. The Hart bloodline was a descendent of the larger, much popular and powerful Hoffman bloodline back from the early 1100s. They were known for their compassion, poise and selflessness unlike most witch covens of that time. They were praised and respected as they had the rare traits of accepting and treating all other supernatural entities with the same respect and recognition. At one point, they had even helped the Mikaelsons with their overpowering bloodlust by helping them learn of ways to keep it in control with drinks and other herbs. Centuries later, to adapt to a more modern outlook, their surnames changed from Hoffman to Hart, the reason why none of the Mikaelsons now realized the bloodline Kaitlyn belonged to.

When word spread among the witches that Lady Catherine was looking for help, it was as if all witches on the Supernatural Plane's Heaven and mid-reign sprung to their feet, wanting to help. Catherine had tried to contact Hell to see if this Kai Parker's soul had ended up there but they were to stay out of Hellfire at times unless they wanted to be permanently consumed by it.

ย Stefan had given Catherine a small run-through of everything that had happened to her daughter and the Scooby Gang over all these years. He even told her about his ripper tendencies and in return, Catherine told him the same thing that Kaitlyn always told him. That it was his demon, a side of him that he didn't control and it might be in his gene but he was a good man with good faith and that is exactly why he'd ended up in the Plane's warm and fuzzy Heaven. Catherine also told him that she had concluded Jo to have ended up in Heaven as well, along with her younger twin siblings- Olivia and Luke. So she sent out word for the witches to look out for the Parker witches in Heaven, from the Gemini Coven.

While there was a search party out for Jo, Catherine and Sheila were looking for a way to send word back to the real realm. They would need an immense amount of power and a perfect spell to send back Stefan or Jo for a temporary amount of time.

"We have word from a witch. She said she had found the Josette Parker you were looking for," a young witch announced to Catherine as Sheila and Stefan smiled at the news.

"Good, we are almost done with the spell as well," Catherine replies as the witch nods and walks away. She turns to Stefan and smiles at him, "you are a good man, Stefan Salvatore and you have done a lot for my daughter and grandchildren. I couldn't possibly be thankful enough for all of it," she tells him and he politely smiles back.

"Your daughter is a gem of a person, ma'am. She...she was one of the very few people who helped me realize the Ripper was a part of me that I didn't control and didn't need to be held accountable for. I had a best friend once-Lexi, she was my saving grace for whenever I got out of control and when she died, Kaitlyn soon replaced her to become the one person who wouldn't give up on me. She spent an entire summer surrounded by deadly supernaturals, only because she refused to leave me alone and drowning in self-pity. She was also the first person to point out how in-love I was with the girl who in the future ended up being my wife. You really have nothing to thank me for, I'd do anything for her. She was and will always be my best friend and like a baby-sister."

Catherine smiled widely at him with tears in her eyes, "well then, I think I have one last question to ask you, Stefan. Are you ready to go back home?"

Stefan gasped loudly and looked at her with wide, confused eyes, "but you found Jo. You're still going to let me go there temporarily and see my people?"

"Yes and no, you're going back to your people, yes but it won't be temporary," she tells him and he immediately gets up on his feet and starts to hyperventilate.

"Wh-what? How? Isn't that against the law of nature and-" he trails off, trying to process what he was being told.

"It is against the law of nature, yes but we have a way of balancing things out. We have it all figured out. You see, when I was talking to Kaitlyn alone in the hut, we were discussing certain things and she told me how much she wished you could go back to see your wife, Caroline and your brother, Damon. She told me how much they had done for her all these years when she needed someone to depend on. She said besides her, it was my grandkids' Aunt Caroline who had raised them to what they were now and I thought about it for a while. You see, I come from an extremely powerful witch bloodline. So much power that you couldn't even imagine. You could say, we are witch royalty in a sense. I told Kaitlyn about our history and I think now, she fully understands how much power and potential she really has. When I died and was sent here, all my magic was retrieved to me, even though it did still remain in Kaitlyn as well, linking us in a sense. I discussed it with Sheila on how we could figure out a way to send you back there permanently, that is if you wish to stay. You will go there with Jo and when she returns, if you wish to as well, you just have to tell Kaitlyn that and she will know what to do. And if you wish to stay, you are free to. Although, you will go back as a human."

"And you agreed to this?" he asks as he turns to Sheila. He knew how much Grams hated breaking witch laws, specially bringing people back from the dead and he had seen its consequences many times himself to know there was a catch.

"Like Lady Catherine said, they are witch royalty. I can't say no to that, especially if she has a plan to balance out the exchange," Sheila replies and Catherine nods.

"And how do you plan on doing that?" he questioned again as he turned to Catherine.

"Well, since Kaitlyn and my magic are linked in a sense, if I send you back, I lose all my magic with you and she loses a part of hers. But she would still be left with all her own magic along with all the thousands of ancestors' magic, meaning she would still remain extremely powerful," Catherine answers, emphasizing on the 'extremely'.

"What? No I can't let you do that," Stefan protests but Catherine stops him.

"Consider it a 'thank you' for everything you and your family has done for mine. I've had an amazing life and I got to meet my daughter and hold her. I wish for nothing more from life itself. I don't mind losing my magic if it helps with my daughter's wishes. Besides, I shall still remain here with all the other witches since surely they won't banish witch royalty. And in due time, when she and one day, maybe my granddaughters wish to join me here, they will still find themselves here as they were all born witches, tapped or not. So what do you say?"

"Did Kaitlyn know about this? You guys losing your magic?" he asks hesitantly, not knowing what he wanted to do.

"She did. I didn't hide any of it from her. At first, she too didn't want me to lose my magic for her wishes but I can be rather convincing, a trait I'm told she too has. So yes, I told her about the price that came with this. She said she doesn't mind losing some of her magic if it meant she could have her best friend back, if she could bring back her other best friends' brother and husband. She smiled at me and said, 'if you're in, so am I, mom. Besides, this wouldn't be our first rodeo. You see, we never learn.'ย  So now it all depends on you," Catherine clarifies and Sheila nods.

"I...I don't know. I mean, Caroline, she's the love of my life. I'd go back to her in a heartbeat but this is too much."

"It's alright, you don't have to decide now. You can go back with Jo and decide there if you wish to stay back or not when you see your loved ones again."

"Sure this is safe?" he mumbles in fear.

"It's anything but safe. But I promise you this, I won't let any harm come to you while you travel back and I definitely won't let anything happen to my daughter and grandkids."

Just then, the young witch walks back into the hut, followed by her. Josette Parker. She looks scared and confused until her eyes land on Stefan as he smiles back at her warmly. Catherine approaches her and seats her down on a chair, pouring her some tea.

"What is going on? Who are these people, Stefan?" Jo asks in a horrified tone.

"I am Lady Catherine, Kaitlyn's mother and we wish to have a word with you regarding your daughters and mine," Catherine answers as Jo gasps, shocked at her words.

Author's Note

So idk if you consider this a good plot twist or not, but I'm bringing Stefan back! This is why I needed him to be dead in the beginning because I had and still do have other plans for him in the future.
