Kaitlyn's POV
I was currently stacking my suitcase with my clothes. It has been two days since the birthday party and the kids are grounded. I'm leaving Caroline and Alaric in charge of making sure the kids don't mess up while I'm gone for the week. Freya and Hope are staying at our place too, so they didn't get lonely at the Mikaelson mansion alone.
"Bee, you done yet?" I hear Ric's voice ring through the house.
"Yeah, just a second," I yell back as I put the last dress inside the suitcase and zip it up.
As I drag the suitcase downstairs, I hear chatter from the kitchen so I leave the suitcase by the main door and walk back to the kitchen.
"Good morning, mom," Josie greets and I hum in response.
"Seriously Lyn, you're going to Paris! Try to look a little enthusiastic," Caroline states as she places a coffee mug before me.
"Yeah, if my boyfriend was taking me to Paris for a trip, you wouldn't hear me shut up about it," Lizzie chimes in and Alaric narrows his eyes at her.
"What boyfriend?" he asks at the same time as Ryan asks, "since when do you have a boyfriend?"
Josie, Caroline and I chuckle at their protective behaviours while Lizzie rolls her eyes.
"I don't have one, thanks to you both. It was a hypothetical situation," he hisses at them and Alaric looks relieved.
"Oh like your own personality has nothing to do with it," Ryan jokes as Caroline smacks the back of his head.
"Don't be rude. I know how tough it is to be a cool and well-managed blonde," she says and Ryan rolls his eyes.
Just then, the doorbell rings and we hear the front door open.
"Why bother ringing the doorbell if you're just going to waltz into the house?" I ask sarcastically as I see Nik walk in, followed by Hope and Freya.
"To announce our arrival, of course," he says as he takes a seat next to me and I immediately get up to go and greet Hope and Freya.
"We should get going now," Nik says as I break away from the hug with Hope.
"Well, you're the one sitting and chatting right now so," I trail off as gets up from his seat and holds out his hand for me to take.
I roll my eyes at him and turn to the kids, "you kids better be on your best behavior while I'm gone," and then I turn to the adults, "and you three better report everything to me," I say to them with a stern tone.
"Yes ma'am," Alaric mock-salutes me and the others laugh.
"Seriously mom, we'll be fine. You guys enjoy the trip," Lizzie says and the other three nod.
"Fine, let's go," I say as I turn to Nik. He then grabs my suitcase from the doorway and puts it in the cab's trunk as we get into the car and drive off to the airport.
As we drive, Rebekah texts the Mikaelson group chat.
I have been giving Nik the silent treatment for most of the past two days because as much as I appreciate the thought, I really didn't want to leave the kids alone right now. I don't even know why I have this feeling something might just go wrong while I'm away. I hope not.
"Okay enough, will you still not tell me why we're going to Paris all of a sudden?" I ask as I put my phone down and turn to face him.
"It's just a trip to clear our minds and take a break, love," he says in return and I roll my eyes at him. Fine, if he won't give me the real reason, I'll find out from someone else. With that thought, I text Rebekah to see what she knows.
Ultimately though, she too is of no help. Neither were Kol or Freya when I asked them. This is too suspicious for my liking. But it's also Paris, so I guess I'll just have my fun then.
With that thought, we board walk into the airport and board the private jet Nik had hired for us to travel in.
The flight was nearly 8 hours long, most of which I spent reading my copy of 'Pride and Prejudice' or sleeping. Finally, when we landed, Marcel and Rebekah greeted us at the airport.
"Ahhh you're here!" Rebekah cheers as she rushes to hug me.
"I missed you so much!" I say as I move away from her and go to hug Marcel.
"We're so excited to have you here," Marcel speaks into the hug.
"Come on, let's go home," Rebekah says as Nik and Marcel grab the suitcases and we get into Marcel's car and drive to their place.
Their home is just a little further away from the Eiffel Tower, at the two attached top floors on this old building. It feels very homey, indeed.
By the time we reached their place, the sun was already setting, so we just decided to go out and get dinner.
Rebekah and Marcel take us to their favorite restaurant and later, we decide to take a stroll to catch a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower from closer.
"My feet are killing me," I complain as we continue to walk. Without hesitation, Nik picks me up bridal style in one swift motion and continues to walk.
"I brought you a pair of sneakers, they're in the car," he says as we reach the Eiffel Tower surroundings and he rests me down on ledge before walking back to the car, with Marcel following close behind.
"You really have him wrapped around your finger, don't you?" Rebekah teases and I chuckle.
"Well he's got me wrapped around his finger too then," I say and I exhale loudly, "this view is so breathtaking," I comment as I look ahead,.
"I know right, I never get used to how beautiful it looks from here," Rebekah comments and I nod as I take a picture of the view and send it to our group chat. Just then, Marcel rejoins us and hands me a pair of sneakers that I quickly put on. All of our phones chime at once with messages Nik sent to the group chat.
I smile at his text and look back to see him standing there, already looking at me like I'm the prettiest thing he's ever seen.
"You're adorable," I say as he walks up and wraps his arms around me.
"I'm not adorable, love," he says as he places a soft kiss on the side of my head. For a while, we four just sit there in peaceful silence, taking in the mesmerizing view before us. I live for these kinds of moments and will cherish them forever. After it gets late, we all head back home as Nik keeps saying me and him had a 'busy day ahead of us tomorrow'. Apparently the entire day tomorrow, it's just me and him. Either he won't let Rebekah and Marcel join us or they have somewhere else to be, I wouldn't know.

It's safe to say we barely got any sleep last night because Nik just couldn't keep his hands to himself. As the sun shines into our room, I can already tell Nik is awake because I can feel him running his hands around my bare arms in smoothing circles.
"Good morning," I mumble in my half-asleep state. He immediately props up and buries his face into the crook of my neck when he realizes I was awake.
"Good morning, love," he mumbles into my neck as he places small, sensual kisses there.
"I'm so sleepy," I complain and I feel his smile against my skin.
"We can delay the plans a little if you want," he says as I turn around to face him.
"Really?" I ask in a disbelieving tone.
He nods with a smirk as he moves around so now he was towering ever me. He leans down and kisses my nose, "we could go something else meanwhile," he says with a suggestive tone.
"Please Nik, we already stayed up almost all night because of you," I scoff as he raises his brow at me.
"Because of me only?" he smirks, "you were just as eager, love."
"Only because I knew you wouldn't stop even if I tried to," I joke back and he raises his brow at me again.
He smirks and bent down, his lips against my cheek, brushing it lightlyโand still that light touch sent shivers through my nerves, shivers that made my whole body tremble.
"Well then, if you want me to stop, tell me now," he whispered. When I still said nothing, he brushed his mouth against the hollow of my temple. 'Or now.' He traced the line of my cheekbone. 'Or now.' His lips were against hers. 'Orโ'
But I reached up and pulled him down to me, and the rest of his words were lost against my mouth. He kissed me gently, carefully, but it wasn't gentleness I wanted, not now. I knotted my fists in his shirt, pulling him harder against me. He groaned softly, low in his throat, and then his arms circled me, gathering me against him. I used this opportunity to turn us around, so now I was towering over him.
"Two can play at this game," I tell him with a teasing smirk as he smiles at me with his darkened eyes, "wouldn't it be fun if I just got up and went to get ready now?" I tease further and he groans as he slightly sits up.
"You wouldn't dare," he says and I raise my brow at him as I lean down closer to him, "oh really? Why not?" I ask him.
He immediately wraps his arms around me and pulls me onto his lap as he sits up, "because I won't let you," he says hoarsely before resuming to roughly kiss me again. He cupped my face with both hands as my fingers slid along the sculpted forearms to meet his for a brief moment until I nudged him forward, propelling us both back onto the bed. Unlocking his lips from mine, he pulled me further up on the duvet solely to immerse himself in another kiss, trying to turn us back around but I wouldn't let him. I was in charge and he liked it. I held his hands down. He's too used to being in control so this was clearly a struggle for him. It was like heat rose from every inch of himself as he was no longer able to be the one in control. There was nothing but the sound of my gasps drawing him in, awakening something feral within us both. Whatever this was, it was pulling us both in, the urgency of our perfect lips sinking in as if consuming my core, the way his body pressed against mine, warm and untamed. If hearts could explode, mine could detonate right now. His fingers traced slowly down my spine, his breath coming more quickly against my skin. My hands were limp on his chest, and I felt lightheaded again as I felt him move into me.
"I'd be lying if I said you taking control wasn't a big turn on to me," he says as we both gasp for air in between our hungry kisses and me moving my hips just as his arms around my waist directed me to, "you're so beautiful," he whispers into the kisses and I only hum in response, not being able to form words anymore.
He takes this opportunity to finally turn us over and regain his control over the situation. He drove himself harder into me and I was whining with pleasure. I would never get used to this feeling. I would climax again right away but he kept on, slowing himself. He pushed my knees up higher. He was almost there and so was I, again. He bends down and starts to place hungry, breathless kisses on my neck again as we both reach our climax.
"I can never get enough of you," he says as he moves to lie down next to me and I slowly sit up, putting on his discarded shirt.
"We need to go, though," I tell him and he too sits up with a groan then. He takes my hand in his and kisses my knuckles.
"As you wish, love," he says as he then carries me bridal style into the bathroom and we freshen up, ready to officially start our day out in the streets of Paris.
เผโผ๏ธโพ๏ธ๊จ๏ธโฝ๏ธโผ๏ธเผ
Our first destination of the day was a beautiful flower market along the banks of the river Seine. We decide to have breakfast at a small riverside restaurant there, as we enjoy the peaceful view around us. After breakfast, when we were taking a stroll along the riverside, Nik plucked a rose form one of the stores, got down on one knee and presented in to me. I swear, he can be so damn adorable sometimes. He even got me the hugest bouquet of a hundred roses and then carried it around with himself when I complained about it being too heavy. We took a ferry across the river and headed to our next destination then- the Louvre. Now this one I was ecstatic about. I've always had a think for museums and art exhibitions. I might not be the best painter but that doesn't mean I didn't understand art.
We then spend the rest of the day at the Louvre, admiring all the art there, discussing it with other people present and Nik even offered to donate his art to the place, which they gladly accepted.
When we finally walk out of the Louvre, the sun is already setting. We stand there, watching the sunset shine over the Louvre in the most magical way.
"Today was perfect," I whisper as I lean my head on his shoulder and he wraps his arms around me.
"It's far from over yet," love," he says as looks down at he and pulls me into a passionate kiss which I gladly return.
"Come on, off we go," he says as he takes my hand in his and we get back on the ferry to head to our next destination, which turned out to be- The Eiffel Tower itself. Usually they do not let people view the scenery from inside the tower after sunset but Nik had already compelled some people there to hold off for just us.
It was just us there, now. We watched the city lights sparkle before us. Everything about Paris was mesmerizing and filled with love. Everything was perfect. And being here with the one person I love more than anything, made the entire matter even more perfect.
"God, I love you so much," I whisper under my breath and I think he didn't hear me because he doesn't react to it as we just stay there, in each other's arms. Just how we could remain forever. Nik then holds out his hands for me and as I take it, he wraps his arms around me and starts to lead us into a dance. Even with no music playing, we goofily dance along in each other's embrace. He dips me one final time and I throw my head back, laughing at the top of my lungs. I was really having the time of my life right now.
Just then, Nik's phone buzzes and he checks a text before turning to me, "we should head back now," he says and I nod. As we descend down the tower and along the streets of the City of Love, I sit down on the sidewalk abruptly when I can no longer bear the pain from my heels.
"What's wrong, love?" Nik asks with a concerned tone when he notices.
"My feet are killing me," I say and he chuckles.
"Want me to carry you again?" he asks as he sits down next to me and I rest my head of his shoulder.
"No it's alright, let's just sit here for a second," I say and he nods as he kisses my nose.
"Ready to go now?" Nik asks after a few minutes and I groan.
"Alright," he says as he reaches out and unhooks my heels, taking them in his hands, just like he had done that night of the Miss Mystic Falls event.
"Up we go," he says as he stands up with my heels in his hands and holds his hand out for me to take.
I take his arm and he wraps the other arm around me, picking me up and spinning me around as we both laugh.
"Let me down, Nik," I say and he listens. As my feet hit the sidewalk, I straighten my dress out and an old man approaches us. He offers me a rose with a smile, "you two make a lovely couple. Me and my wife used to stroll around here all the time and seeing you both reminded me of us. So I thought I should get a pretty rose for the pretty lady," he says and I take the rose from his hands with an appreciative smile on my face.
"Thank you very much," I say politely and he nods in acknowledgement before walking past us.
"Even old men won't stop hitting on you," Nik jokes and I slightly nudge him as he laughs.
He then takes my hand in one of his, with my heels in his other hand and starts to lead us away to our next stop. We find ourselves back at the same riverside flower market area where we started our day from. Except this time, it was dark and empty. There was no one but us here. I look at Nik with a confused look and he just smiles at me.
"Just a little further love," he says as he leads us deeper into the markets until we reach a little clearing surrounded by trees.
"What's going on, Nik?" I ask him again but he puts a finger on his lips, indicating for me to be quiet.
3rd person POV
Klaus Mikaelson had decided that it was time. He was finally ready to take the leap of faith and marry the woman of his dreams. He even found the perfect place- a beautiful space past the flower market, with the river Seine flowing across and a perfect view to the Eiffel Tower. Everything looked beautiful. He had Rebekah and Marcel help him set up the setting next to a bench, where he'd propose. 'Nothing could wrong,' Klaus thought to himself.
To say Klaus was nervous would be the understatement of the century. He had already told all his family and her friends about his plans and had asked them all for their permission to ask his soulmate to officially be his. Klaus opens his mouth to say something but quickly closes it again. Klaus looked over at Kaitlyn. For some reason the words were at the tip of his tongue, refusing to exit his mouth.ย
"Nik, what is it?" she asks him in a scared tone, probably assuming the worst right now.
The intense moment grew longer, it seemed. No one said a word. Their eyes remained glued on one another, waiting for the other person to speak first. Klaus finally exhales loudly and takes Kaitlyn's hands in his.ย The song 'Open Arms' starts to play, and on cue, Klaus speaks up.
"Love, do you remember the first time we ever met?" he asks her and she nods.
"Of course I do, it was at the Grill when I was getting breakfast and you said you were new in town and then you joined me for breakfast, talking about my plans in life and whatnot," she says with a laugh as she thinks back to that day.
"And later when you found out who I really was, you lashed out at me for lying to you. Your friends were trying to stop you but I just stared at you, mesmerized by everything about you and at how you weren't scared of me," he continues.
"And do you remember the day your friends and Mikael tried to kill me but failed?" he asks and she nods.
"Yeah I do. Why does it matter?" she asks him and he smiles, tightening his grip on her hands.
"It matters because that day, even though your friends warned you, you came out to see me later that night. To check on me and see if I was alright, you said. And you sat with me all night, listening to me rant about my miserable life. I didn't even know why I was telling you everything about my life but I knew I cared for you then. And before I knew it, I was head over heels in love with you. I...I knew I wanted you would to one day be my wife," he states and her eyes widen as her heart skips a beat.
She goes to speak but Klaus interrupts her, "no let me finish," he says and she nods.
"I always told Rebekah that love made us weak and I truly believed it. To me, 'love' was just a word. Until you came along and gave it meaning. I realized what you meant to me when you were at the back of my mind all the time. One day I caught myself smiling for no reason and then I realized I'd been thinking of you.
"I loved to hear you talk and get lost in your eyes. Your smile became the definition of 'sunshine' to me. It was as though suddenly, I didn't need to be the most feared person on earth anymore. I didn't need the power, I didn't need the world...I just needed you. Every time I saw you, it was as though my heart was whispering 'she's the one'. You brought out a side of me I'd even hesitate to show my own family and it scared me, to think of everything that could go wrong even if I tried to get you. And everything did go wrong and I know I can't make up for lost time but I can't bear to think of the future without you by my side through all of it. I said I'd wait however long it took for you to love me back and then you did, but we lost it. But now that I see another opportunity for us, I can't let it slide away. Everytime I see you, I fall in love with you all over again. I want you to know that I was yours yesterday and I am yours, today and forever. I never knew what true love was until I met you. This is my confession. As dark as I am, I will always find enough light to adore you to pieces, with all of my pieces. I love you, I love you today as I have from the start, and I'll love you forever with all of my heart. I love you and I will love you until I die, and if there is life after that, I'll love you then too. Do you...still love me?" he finally finishes as tears pool in both of their eyes.
"I always have. I love you more than anything, Nik," Kaitlyn whispers as tears trickle down her eyes.
Klaus smiles at her words and speaks again, "then make me the happiest man to ever walk this earth. Kaitlyn Rosalia Hart, will you do me the honor of being able to call you my wife? Will you marry me?" he asks the much awaited question as he gets down on one knee before her, holding up a ring in his hand. Just then, their surrounding light up to the most beautiful decorations with a trail of roses and candles, leading up to 'MARRY ME' light blocks placed at the end.
She smiles at the decorations before looking back at the love of her life, down on one knee, asking her to be his forever.
"I...of course I will. I love you so much I..." she trails off as Klaus immediately puts the ring on her finger, stands up and pulls her into a deep and passionate kiss.
"I can't believe you said yes," Klaus speaks into the kiss and Kaitlyn chuckles.
"I can't believe you thought I wouldn't," she replies as they break away from the kiss and stare into each other's eyes.
"So Rebekah and Marcel knew?" she asks as Klaus takes her hand in his and leads her to the beachside set up Rebekah had told him about. There, they lay in each other's arm, relishing in each other's presence. This was as perfect as things could get for them, they both thought to themselves. Nothing could go wrong for them anymore...or could it?
