Kaitlyn's POV

I gasp awake after Hayley's vision. Hope was my daughter. Mine and Nik's. I lost her because I was human then. I lost my daughter. Hayley knew all these years. Yet she kept this a secret. Hope was mine.

As I look around, I realize I'm not at the Mikaelson mansion's living room. Everywhere I look, it's dark and empty. The air is weirdly chilly here. Where am I?

"Hello, is anyone here?" I yell and my voice echoes but there's no response.

"Where am I?" I whisper to myself.

"Kaitlyn?" I hear a voice from behind me.

I turn and as soon as I see the person's face, the air is knocked out of my lungs as my eyes widen in surprise.

"Ch-Chris?" I stammer, unsure if this is real or not.

"How are you here, sugar?" he asks and that nickname was all the confirmation I needed. It's real. He is here. But if he is here and so am I, that means...

"I...I don't know. Am I dead?" I ask him as tears pool into my eyes.

"I don't think so, hon. This is a supernatural plain, a lot like the Other Side was. Supernaturals stay here until it's decided whether they go to Hell or Heaven," he answers.

"Then why're you here? Didn't you find peace?" I ask and my heart drops at the thought of him not being in peace here, please tell me you found peace," I beg as tears stream down my eyes.

He lets out a sad chuckle as tears well up in his eyes as well, "I did, hon. I found peace. I was summoned here today. I didn't know why until I saw you. Why're you here?" he asks and I sigh in relief.

I then tell him everything that had happened today and just then the scene around us changes.ย

เผ†โ˜ผ๏ธŽโ˜พ๏ธŽ๊จ„๏ธŽโ˜ฝ๏ธŽโ˜ผ๏ธŽเผ†

We both look around confused at all the old-looking houses and people around us. It takes me a while to realize where we are.

"This is New Orleans," I say and Chris looks at me and asks, "why would we be sent here?"

"Sent here? Who's doing this, Chris?" I ask him.

"I don't know but I mean...someone must've sent us here or else why would we end up here of all places?"

I see Elijah walk out of a bar called Rousseau's and rush towards him. I try to

Hold him back by his shoulder but I can't touch him...or anything.

"Let's follow him," I tell Chris.

Elijah walks into a cemetery and speaks to some witches about Nik.

"Bring her out!" a witch yells and I walk into the room, being held back by two witches while I have my hands protectively places over my stomach.

"It's all true, Elijah," the other me says and Elijah asks to speak with me separately.

"We have been looking for you for two days now, Rose. How did you end up here?" he asks the other me.

"I was here because a witch told me about werewolves in the bayou. I just wanted to help Hayley, she was supposed to meet me here but before she could get here, these witches grabbed me and did all these witchy-tests on me," other-me says.

"I'll get Niklaus here, don't worry. I will fix this," Elijah says before walking out of the cemetery.

The scene then changes to a little later.

"It's all a trick, Elijah," I hear Nik say.

"It's not. It's a gift," Elijah tells him.

Other-me walks into the room just then, "it's true, Nik."

"Rose? What're you doing here? We've been looking everywhere for you. You let her go now or I won't hesitate to kill every last one of you!" Nik threatens the witches.

"If you harm us in any way, I swear Kaitlyn won't live to see her first maternity dress," a witch threatens back.

"What did you say?" Nik growls.

"Niklaus, listen," Elijah says and all goes quiet as he concentrates on something. I too try to concentrate and then... I hear it. Two extra heartbeats in the room.

"Is that..." Nik trails off.

"It's ours, Nik," other-me says with teary eyes and a smile.

"Now, here us out and no one has to get harmed," the witch, Sophie Deveraux, speaks.

The scene then changes again. This time we're inside a house and other-me's bump is showing.

I see myself seated on a couch, reading a book as Hayley and Rebekah argue over something.

Just then the front door opens and Nik and Elijah walk in. They talk about how the witches had lied and Elijah had made a deal with- Davina to unlink me and Sophie.

I see myself almost have a miscarriage, I see myself almost die at the Plantation House where Hayley was throwing a party, I see Nik win over the French Quarter, I see us move into their old house, I see Davina runaway and later die, I see us fight Mikael and Esther, I see all of it.

This is the scene where I'm giving birth. The witches have Nik held up against the church wall while I give birth to our child. Correction: children.

Our firstborn was a girl- Hope. And then a son. Then I see the witches slit my throat and I see my lifeless body as the witches take the children away.

I see Elijah and Hayley fight Nik over how my death was his fault, I see them look for the children and then I see other-me back from the dead. Other-me was in transition.

I see my few moments with my children before we fake their death to keep them safe, death of the Mikaleson twins- Hope and...Ryan.

I see myself shut my humanity off, I see Nik and myself falling apart. I see us fight Dahlia, I see Hayley marry another werewolf, Jackson. I see Nik meet his real father and then kill his real father, I see Kol die again.

Then I see us back in Mystic Falls, at Alaric and Jo's wedding. I see Kai kill them again- both Jo and Alaric this time. I see myself pregnant with the twins then. I see myself give birth to them. We still fight the Hollow and lose Hayley in the process but ultimately, we were fine. We moved away.

I see me, Nik and our four kids in a cottage home with a lake.

Away from Mystic Falls and New Orleans, away from all kinds of supernatural drama. Just us- a happy family.

เผ†โ˜ผ๏ธŽโ˜พ๏ธŽ๊จ„๏ธŽโ˜ฝ๏ธŽโ˜ผ๏ธŽเผ†

Then the visions disappear and it's dark again. By this point, I have non-stop tears streaming down my face and Chris holds me in his arms as I cry my heart out. What we had just seen...this was an alternate reality. What could've been. What we could've had...if only.

3rd person POV

On the other side of reality, back in the Mikaelson mansion, tensions are high as 18 hours had passed and Kaitlyn still hadn't woken up. They hadn't even found any solution or been able to identify the problem yet. The Scooby Gang were all going to be arriving soon, as well as Kol and Davina. Rebekah and Marcel had already arrived by then.

The kids were all wrecked with everything that had happened in the last 24 hours. Rebekah and Madeline were comforting Hope while Alaric comforted Ryan, Lizzie and Josie. Hayley's condition had severely deteriorated in the past hours as well. She could barely move or say anything and Elijah was there with her, tending to her needs.

Suddenly, the front door to the mansion bursts open and all of the Scooby Gang walk in-Bonnie, Enzo, Jeremy, Caroline, Elena and Damon. As soon as Damon's eyes land on Kaitlyn, he grabs Klaus against a wall, holding him up by the neck, "What did you do to her?" he snarls.

"Let him go, Damon! He didn't do anything!" Rebekah defends her brother.

"Uncle Damon?" Lizzie whispers as the kids all wake up due to all the shouting.

Damon's eyes instantly soften as Caroline and Elena rush to the kids and comfort them.

Damon lets go of Klaus and whispers, "what happened? How long has she been like this?"

"Over 18 hours now," Klaus whispers back.

"Tell us everything. Don't leave out any details," Bonnie demands as she brings out her own grimoires and hands them to Freya.

Soon enough, Kol and Davina too join the others and get straight to work.

"How do we know it wasn't your werewolf who did something to Lyn?" Damon asks accusingly to Elijah.

"Because she herself is weak and deteriorating. She can't die or find peace until or unless Rose wakes up," Elijah states.

"So what do we do?" Caroline asks as she strokes Lizzie's hair, who is asleep with her head on Caroline's lap.

"I think Lyn is in some sort of trance. That's why we can't get into her head now," Bonnie suggests.

"What trance?" Elena asks.

"I don't know, Elena. But it's the only logical explanation because it's like her mind is elsewhere," Bonnie elaborates and Freya nods.

"What if we sent someone into her mind? Like you sent Marcel into mine that once? Or like Hayley went into Elijah's?" Rebekah suggests.

"This isn't the same, Rebekah. For you and Elijah, you were lost in your own mind but here, like Bonnie said, it's like Lyn's mind isn't here at all," Kol answers.

"Then what do we do? We need to help her!" Jeremy exclaims.

"And we will. Whatever it takes," Ryan chimes in and everyone nods.

Back in the Alternate Reality

"What now?" Kaitlyn speaks up for the first time in what seemed like hours.

"I don't know, hon. Do you want to talk about what we just saw?" Chris asks slowly.

"I don't know what to say. None of it was real. It was what could've been. Everything...everything looked so perfect but so much was still wrong. Alaric and Jo didn't make it, neither did Stefan, Enzo and Hayley and you... you weren't even there," she whispers.

"You're sad Hayley didn't make it?" he asks her in a surprised tone and she nods.

"I...I am. I mean, yeah in reality, what she did was wrong but I understand where she was coming from. Her and I...we're very similar. Never had a real family, lived all our life on our own and I know, when I found my friends in Mystic Falls, they became a family to me. I was always ready to be selfish and go to any length to protect them because they offered me the one thing I had always craved- love and a sense of family. When Hayley found the Mikalesons through Hope, she must've felt the same. The fear of losing the only family you had found in years, I know what it's like. I practically lived with that fear for years on end and it wasn't great. And Hope...I know keeping that secret was wrong of her but I know she loved Hope as her own daughter. I know because I have two girls too. Lizzie and Josie might not be my own but they still are my daughters...I carried them in me for months and I was the one who gave birth to them. Even is someday, somehow, Jo came back, they would still be my daughters. I think Hayley experienced the same thing with Hope that I experienced with the twins, you know?" Kaitlyn rambles on as Chris listens to her in awe of how she could be so practical and understanding about everything.

"So you forgive her?" he asks.

"I don't know about forgiving but I do understand her," she says and just then the reality starts cracking and everything starts to shake.

"Chris, what's happening?" Kaitlyn yells, fear lacing her voice.

"I...I don't know. I think you're waking up," he says.

"What? How?"

"I don't know but sugar, if it's true and you're going away, I want you to know how proud I am of the person you've become, how strong you've been. I saw you raise Ryan all these years and he's grown up to be an incredible man, all thanks to you. All your kids have grown up into amazing entities and all of it is your credit. I'm sorry I left you the way I did, I didn't have a choice. But I love you and I want you to go back and be happy. Happy with whoever you want. And in due time, may we meet again in Supernatural Heaven. I'll be waiting for you, hon," Chris finishes speaking and everything goes white as he slowly disappears.

Kaitlyn continues to cry as she whispers, "I'll see you soon, Chris. Wait for me."

เผ†โ˜ผ๏ธŽโ˜พ๏ธŽ๊จ„๏ธŽโ˜ฝ๏ธŽโ˜ผ๏ธŽเผ†

Reality- Mikaelson Mansion

Everyone has their work split and one common goal- bring back Kaitlyn.

Kol walks into the kitchen to see Damon sitting on a stool with his head down on the kitchen counter.

"Blood bag?" Kol offers him.

"No thanks. Humans don't need blood," Damon answers and Kol nods in understanding. As he goes to walk out, Damon speaks up.

"Hey listen, I know I never said it but thank you," he says and Kol gives him a confused look, "thank you for everything you've done for Lyn. Caroline told us how you helped Lyn through everything, all these years whenever we couldn't be there for her. It's no secret how important Lyn is to us, to me. She understood me when no one else did, never looked at me like I was a villain and was the one friend who stuck by me through it all and to think you helped her in any way, it means a lot," Damon tells Kol sincerely.

"Yeah well in that, you and I aren't very different. She understood me when even my own family didn't. I was there for her because it was the least I could do for the woman who had such a significant impact in my life. And it's not just us, you know? She brings out the best in everyone," Kol says with a smile and Damon nods as they both get up and walk back to the living room.

As they walk into the living room, they see a panicked look on everyone's faces and as the kids cry hysterically, even the adults are all shedding tears.

"What happened?" Damon yells, drawing everyone's attention.

When no one speaks up, Kol yells as well, "What the hell happened?"

"It's Lyn...she's desiccating," Caroline cries out as Damon and Kol's eyes widen.

"No," they both whisper and the same time as Klaus picks up a table and smashes it against a wall in frustration, rage and sorrow.

"What now?" Lizzie whispers, "how do we save mom?"
