Kaitlyn's POV
I wake up to the sound of my alarm blaring on the bedside table.
The phone lights up to show it's 5 AM.
As dreadful as getting up this early is, I need to head back home now or I won't get there in time for the teacher interviews today. And if I miss the interviews, Alaric will have my head on a silver platter for sure.
As I get ready, there's this unsettling feeling at the bottom of my stomach. If I knew any better, I'd say something bad is headed this way but I decide to brush it off, telling myself it's merely because I haven't been getting enough sleep on this 5 day trip I took for the recruitment of these new kids that wanted to join The School but weren't able enough to travel to Mystic Falls by themselves.
By the time I check out of the motel, it's already 5:30 AM. I get a coffee and snacks and make sure I've got enough petrol for the 4 hour drive ahead of me.
เผโผ๏ธโพ๏ธ๊จ๏ธโฝ๏ธโผ๏ธเผ
It's 8:30 AM when I decide to stop by a diner and get some form of proper food into my churning stomach. After I've placed my order, I pull out my phone and send a quick text to Caroline to see if she has any updates.
Caroline joined Bonnie and Enzo on their trip to Paris, where they found a lead on a coven that might be able to help in some way with the twins' merge situation.
The twins. My baby girls. I still remember the first day I held them in my arms like it was just yesterday. Yet here we are, time really flew by because the twins' 16th birthday is fast approaching. Within the blink of an eye, they'll be 22 and have to face their Coven's merge ritual. Alaric and me have been working day and night, along with the help of Caroline,Bonnie,Enzo and even Kol, in order to find a solution to the problem before we even have to break the news to the twins. I cannot and will not imagine a life where I have to let my babies go through this merge, I cannot fail them this way. I swore to protect them till my last breath and I intend to keep my promise.
I'm snapped out of my thoughts when the waitress brings me my bacon and eggs, along with my second cup of coffee of the day. As I then check the texts, Caroline informs that the coven couldn't help and I feel my heart sink to my stomach, once again.
Sad but not surprised, I think to myself. For the last 2 years, it has been the same. Any lead we get ends up being of no help. No one seems to have a solution to our problem but we refuse to give up. They're just kids. They don't deserve this. I won't let my kids go through this.
My kids. My thoughts then drift to Ryan. I haven't heard from him ever since I left for the trip. I quickly send a text to our family groupchat as I pay for the food and transfer the coffee from the cup and into my thermos.
เผโผ๏ธโพ๏ธ๊จ๏ธโฝ๏ธโผ๏ธเผ
I pass the "Welcome to Mystic Falls" sign and check to see it's nearly 9, meaning I can't go home and freshen up or I'll risk missing the interviews. So I directly drive towards the Grill and Cafรฉ, to get another coffee for myself and one for Ric as well.
As I get out of the car and walk towards the cafรฉ, I get a text from Ric and while I'm replying to him, I bump into someone, causing them to drop their drinks due to the impact of the collision.
I immediately look up from my phone and my eyes meet a green-eyed blonde.
"Oh my god, I am so sorry for that. I was clearly not looking where I was headed. My bad," I apologise.
She gives me a slight smile and says, "No it's okay don't worry about it. Happens to us all."
I let out a chuckle listening to her reply, "Well let me make it upto you. Let me get you your drinks, I was headed towards the cafรฉ anyways," I offer.
"No,no, really don't worry about it. It's alright."
"No please, I insist."
"Thank you, that's really nice of you," she says with a nod, as we head towards the cafรฉ together.
While we wait in the queue, she turns to me, "I'm sorry if this comes off as rude but are you a witch? I can feel an extreme aura of energy exceeding from you," she questions in a whispering manner.
"No it's alright. Yeah I'm actually a heretic. You know, witch-vamp," I whisper back with a chuckle.
Her eyes go wide hearing my reply, "Wait really? I didn't think that was possible except some extremely rare cases."
"Yeah well, I guess I'm one of those rare cases then. I'm Kaitlyn Hart, by the way."
Again, she looks a little stunned hearing my name but quickly recovers, "Oh yeah, I didn't even introduce myself. I'm Freya M-"
She gets interrupted by the barista as we approach the counter for our turn.
While she places her order, I ponder over how familiar the name Freya sounds. I swear I've heard it from someone, I just can't remember from whom or where. Gosh, I really need to get more caffeine into my system to get my brain working again. You see, I'm sort of a coffee-addict but a damn proud one at that.
"Hey Lyn, haven't seen you around in a while," the barista, Amy, says turning towards me after Freya completed her order.
"Oh yeah I was out of town for some school work. Just got back a little while ago. I'll have the usual for me and Ric, thanks Amy"
Amy nods and moves to get our orders sorted.
Freya turns to me and asks, "You're a teacher?"
I nod, "Yeah. I'm actually the Headmistress of the Salvatore Boarding School For the Young and Gifted. It's sort of a supernatural school."
"Oh wow, I'm still new here so I haven't learned all the stats yet but that's great."
"Yeah it really is," I say as Amy brings us our orders and I pay for them.
I then turn to Freya and say, "Well it was nice to meet you, Freya. Welcome to Mystic Falls. I hope to see you around."
She smiles and nods, "Yeah you too and thanks for this," she points to her coffee.
I give her a smile and turn to walk away when she calls out for me again.
"Oh Kaitlyn, wait!" I turn to her, "I actually wanted to ask you if admissions are open at your school now. I have a niece, she's 16 and has been homeschooled her whole life. I think a normal school would be good for her."
"Oh yeah the new session starts Monday so I'm sure we can figure something out in you get an appointment. I actually don't have a card on me right now but you can just search up our website and call to make an appointment whenever you can," I tell her.
"Great! Thank you so much, once again. I'll talk to the family and get an appointment."
"Happy to be of help, see you around, Freya," I say and walk out of the cafรฉ, get into my car and head towards the Boarding School.

Freya's POV
I start to panic as soon as she walks out the door. That was Kaitlyn Hart. The Kaitlyn Hart that my siblings wouldn't shut up about. Klaus' Kaitlyn. She looks exactly like the paintings and she's here, in Mystic Falls. I don't know what to do with this information so I quickly pull out my phone and text Rebekah to tell her what I just learned.
Okay, so I'm meant to keep this a secret. It's probably for the best because we don't know what Klaus' reaction might be to this revelation. It's best if Rebekah is here with Elijah to keep him in check.
With that thought, I head out the cafe and walk home.
เผโผ๏ธโพ๏ธ๊จ๏ธโฝ๏ธโผ๏ธเผ
As soon as I walk home, I hear Hope's voice coming from the living room, "but dad please at least consider it. Mom, will you tell him something, please? I don't want to be homeschooled anymore. I want friends my own age. I want to go to a normal school and this one's literally perfect!"
"I actually think it's a good idea for Hope to socialise a little with people her own age," I state, making my presence know. Klaus throws me a glare and Hayley gives me a defeated look.
I ignore them and turn to Hope, "so which school were you talking about?"
"The Salvatore Boarding School For The Young and Gifted. I found their website while I was looking for schools in the area. I've heard of the Salvatores from Uncle Elijah's journals. This has to be a supernatural school, don't you think? And if they're old friends of dad's, that's even better!" she yells, clearly excited.
"Friends isn't the term I'd use," Elijah says with a playful smirk.
I know I talked to Kaitlyn about enrolling Hope there but this also seems too risky, specially since I know something they don't and Rebekah swore me to secrecy till she gets here.
I decide it's better to remove myself from the situation, so I ask, "where's Davina?"
"In here!" she yells from the kitchen.
I walk into the kitchen to see her skimming through a recipe book, "You're making dinner today?" I ask, playfully.
"No way. Not me. I'm just super bored. There's nothing to do here so I just thought I'd use my time sorting through stuff they left behind when they moved away years ago."
Her phone dings and I see it's a text from Kol.
"I'll let you talk," I say walking out and going back to my room.
เผโผ๏ธโพ๏ธ๊จ๏ธโฝ๏ธโผ๏ธเผ
Kol's POV
It's past 3 in the morning and I just got home after paying a visit to this ancient Greek Coven, trying to find a solution to Lyn's twins' entire merge situation.
I love the twins just as much as I love Hope. They're my nieces too so when Lyn had a breakdown in front of me, telling me about the Gemini Coven and the twins' roles in it, I promised her that I'll look for a solution to save my nieces, no matter what.
I freshen up and then text Lyn to update her on the situation.
After talking to Lyn, I start overthinking the situation as well. We have got to find a way to protect the twins. For one, Lyn would be a mess if something ever happened to any of her kids and I can't let my Sunshine go through that. So we've got to figure out a way.
I'm snapped out of my thoughts by my phone's buzzing. I open it to see it's Rebekah.
Ohno, this isn't good. I'm not there and Freya knows about Lyn. This is so not good. I quickly text Davina because she's the only insider I have into my family in Mystic Falls right now.
I smile at the thought of Lyn finally getting to meet Freya. The two most important girls in my life being friends, that's one of the best thoughts ever and I am sure they'll be great friends. With these thoughts swirling around my mind, I slowly drift off to sleep.
เผโผ๏ธโพ๏ธ๊จ๏ธโฝ๏ธโผ๏ธเผ
Freya's POV
About 5 minutes after I left Davina in the kitchen, there's a knock of my door. "Come in," I yell.
Davina walks in and stands by the side of the bed, "You know about Kaitlyn? Why didn't you say anything?" she asks.
I'm shocked. How did she find out?
"How do you know about Kaitlyn?"
"Kol texted me saying Rebekah told him about how you ran into her this morning. Why didn't you say anything to the others?"
"Rebekah asked me not to tell them until she gets here. I think it's for the best. How do you know her?"
"I don't personally know her but I've heard of her from Kol all the time. Plus the others talk about her too so," she trails off.
"Anyways, Kol is coming back too. I think them being here will be good for the situation."
"Yeah I think so too," I sigh.
A while later, we're all sitting in the living room because Hope called for a family meeting.
"Hello Family, so I finally convinced mom and dad to at least consider the entire 'normal schooling' thing and I want us to get an appointment for the Salvatore School ASAP!" she exclaims jumping up and down.
Davina and I exchange knowing looks. This situation is getting out of hand and we don't have a solution. Rebekah and Kol are halfway across the world. There's no way they can get back here fast enough.
"Let me make the call, then," I jump in. Hope looks at me and nods, handing me a paper with the number written on it. I type the number into my phone and press "Call", turning on the speaker as per Hope's request.
The phone gets answered after a few rings, "Hello this is Alaric Saltzman, Headmaster of the Salvatore Boarding School For The Young and Gifted. How may I help you?"
I instantly release a breath I didn't know I was holding in. She wasn't the one who answered.
"Hi, my name is Freya. I was wondering if I could make an appointment to enroll my niece into your school this session," I reply.
"Oh well, we can surely get you an appointment so we can sit and talk face-to-face about the entire procedure. How does this Monday sound to you? It's the first day of school. You'll be able to get a proper tour and see the school in full swing."
"Oh that sounds great. Thank you so much!" I reply and look at Hope, who's practically grinning ear to ear now.
"Great. Also, we'll need at least one parent present in order to talk about the admission procedure."
"Well the whole family actually wanted to visit along, if that's alright"
"Oh yeah sure, no worries. The more, the merrier. I'll see you on Monday at 9 then."
"Yes, thank you very much!" I say and hang up.
"The hunter is still in Mystic Falls? Thought he'd have left like everyone else by now," Klaus says, breaking the silence.
"You know him, dad?" Hope questions.
Klaus nods and says, "Yeah he killed me once."
Hope's eyes go wide and Elijah joins in saying, "It's a long story, better not linger on it."
Hope nods, "Yay! I'm so excited for this! Thank you, mom and dad!" she cheers as she walks upstairs to her room.
I quickly pull out my phone and text both Rebekah and Kol, letting them know about the situation so they can get here before Monday.
เผโผ๏ธโพ๏ธ๊จ๏ธโฝ๏ธโผ๏ธเผ
Kaitlyn's POV
I walk into the school and get tackled into a bear hug.
"Mom! Finally, you're back! I have so much to tell you. Ryan and Josie were starting to get on my nerves and as always, dad took their side," Lizzie starts ranting as soon as we pull away.
I smile at her. "Stop lying, Lizard. We all know you're the unbearable one," Ryan states as he walks in and gives me a side hug.
"Okay enough, break it up, you two. You're grownups now, stop picking fights all the time. Where's Josie?" I say to them.
"She's been spending all day everyday at the auditorium, practicing for the talent show," Lizzie states with an eye roll.
"Aww see? Now that's dedication," I say.
"Puh-lease, that's just her excuse for not having to interact with people," Lizzie replies.
"Be nice, Liz," I say, "anyways, you kids go do what you do. I need to get to work and go see Ric. See y'all at home!"
I knock on the office's door, "May I come in, Mr Saltzman?" I ask in a mocking tone.
"Yes please, Miss Always-Late," he replies as I walk in and hand him his coffee.
"I don't see anyone else here, so how am I late?" I question with a raised brow.
"You're late because the interviews were at 9 and here you are at 10:30, an hour's me a half late!" he replies, "you're in luck the interviews got cancelled and moved to Monday for certain reasons or-"
"Or what?" I ask, trying to rile him up for fun.
"Or... something, okay!" he yells, rolling his eyes at me.
I chuckle at his words, "anyways, so what did I miss?" I ask, getting all serious now.
"Not a lot. I left some files you need to sort through and besides the interviews, we also have a potential student's family visiting on Monday so add that to your calendar NOW, before you forget. There's no way I'm doing a your alone," he huffs.
"Was her name Freya?" I ask, thinking back to how she'd said she'd reach out.
"Yeah, how did you know?" he asked, surprised.
"Because I know everything, Ric," I say with a wink and then get up and get to work in my office when my phone starts going off with nonstop texts.
I check to see it's Kol. I panick thinking it had something to do with the Coven but what I read was way, way worse. I blink a few times, dumbfounded, trying to figure out if this is really happening.
I grab my phone and rush to Alaric's office, barging in.
"They're back," I say, breathlessly, "They're back in town for good. The Mikalesons are back in town. Freya is a Mikaleson," I elaborate, handing him my phone with Kol's texts on display.
He skims through the texts and looks up at me wide-eyed, matching my panicked expression, "Oh god, this is not good."
Author's Note:
Here's the very first Chapter from Act One. I hope you guys enjoy it. I'm looking forward to your feedback. This was nearly 3000 words but so worth it.
I want to know if you guys prefer shorter chapters or longer chapters, so I can plan this accordingly.
Also, what do you think of the text messages? I did these myself and I think they add a sense of genuineness to the story. Lemme know your opinions on that as well.
I'm so excited for the next few chapters, can't wait for the Mikalesons' reactions to seeing Kaitlyn and vice versa. Ah, it's gonna be great. I'm looking forward to writing it. Till then, take care.
With Love,
Awwmoons.
