Winning by ONE vote, it has been decided that the baby will be a boy! And, after a long while of deciding and thinking, I have decided that his name will be Lunar! Seeing as how quite a few of you like names beginning with an 'L' and the name 'Luna'. Again, thank you all for sharing your ideas with me, or else this decision would have been WAAAAAY harder.
Now, let's continue the story. . . shall we~?

Once the mysterious gem had left, Amethyst quickly got to her feet and ran over to Steven, who seemed to be in some sort of troubled daze. He rubbed the area where his gem was as he stared down at his feet, worry and confusion as well as some sort of longing seemed to be in his eyes.
Amethyst frowned at her little brother's troubled expression and placed her hand on his shoulder, causing him to snap back into reality and look at her.
"You okay, Steven?" She asked, clearly concerned.
Steven sighed and looked back down, clenching his fists at his sides.
"I. . . don't know. . ." He sighed again and shook his head.
Amethyst's frown seemed to deepen as she wrapped her arm around Steven's shoulders, wanting to comfort him.
"Any idea what the heck this is all about?" Amethyst asked, sending a few questioning (and suspicious) glances over to Spinel; who was doing cartwheels in the field below them.
Steven groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose; feeling tired and frustrated all at the same time. Amethyst unwrapped her arm around him and placed her hands on her hips as she narrowed her eyes up at the sky. Whoever that mysterious gem was, she was troubling her little brother in some way.
. . . Amethyst didn't like that. At all. No one messes with her family.
Amethyst soon turned her attention back to Steven, who was beginning to speak.
"I don't think that she's the one that attacked us. . . but I also think that she might have been aware of what was going on. Or maybe she knows the reason as to why. . . why. . ." Steven sighed and turned his gaze towards the darkening sky.
"Why what?" Amethyst asked, starting to grow nervous because of how. . . off Steven seemed to be acting.
Steven blinked and shook his head as he looked back to the purple gem before him.
"Why whoever that gem was was attacking us - was attacking me." Steven narrowed his eyes and looked over to the injector. "Maybe she even knows whatever that thing is!"
Amethyst narrowed her eyes in confusion and followed Steven's gaze, only for her eyes to go wide and a gasp to escape her lips. "What the. . .?!" She breathed out, taking a step back out of shock and slight horror at the giant machine that seemed to be slowly sucking the life out of the area that surrounded the Temple.
What is happening?!
*****
Steven panted as he ran up the mountain, towards the lighthouse and the giant machine that stood at the very top. Amethyst followed close behind him, cringing when she saw a flower close to her foot wilt along with the rest of the dying plants. The purple gem then shook her head and returned her gaze to the back of Steven's head, and her eyes immediately filled with worry. Spinel, however, didn't seem to notice the trouble the giant machine was causing. She merely smiled and skipped after Amethyst and Steven happily and obliviously.
"Lapis, Bismuth, Peridot!" Steven called out to the three as he came to a stop behind the small, green gem, who was pressing buttons and messing with screens and other things of technology in front of her. Lapis flew over head with her water wings, keeping an eye on the machine while Bismuth watched it from below with a troubled frown.
Steven, obviously tired from running so far, panted heavily as he leaned over and placed his hands on his knees to keep himself up. Beads of sweat rolled down his face, but he was quick to wipe it all away with the sleeve of his jacket.
Amethyst sent Steven a concerned look a patted his back before turning her attention to Peridot. "What's the damage?" She asked.
Peridot's eyes widened. "Amethyst!" The green gem turned away from Amethyst and shut her eyes tightly as she waved her hand at the purple gem, wanting her to leave. "Get away from me. I can't stand to see you vacant and berupt of personality!"
Amethyst deadpanned. "Yo, I'm back you dip." She stated blankly with no remorse whatsoever.
.
.
.
"Oh! Well, you're just in time for the end of the world!" The green gem stated with fake enthusiasm and a nervous lopsided smile.
Peridot turned away from the trio behind her and gestured towards the giant machine that towered above them all. "This is no ordinary injector. Whatever it's leaking into the ground is toxic." The green gem told, watching her small robots crawl around the injector and scanning it
Just then, Bismuth came up to the four with her hand morphed into what seemed to be a dustpan, holding a large chunk of the Earth that she had taken from under the injector.
"Let's get a scan going and see what we're dealing with." Peridot said as she walked over to Bismuth and bubbled the chunk of Earth that the larger gem had in her grasp. Peridot then took the bubble and placed it into some sort of microwave scanner, before closing the microwaves door and pressing a button that read, 'popcorn'.
And to think, none of them knew of the pair of (E/c) eyes that were watching them the whole time.
*****
"Now this is entertainment!" You chuckled from the clouds you were flying above as you watched Steven and the gems chat with one another about what to do with your injector.
The baby in your grasp giggled and grabbed a lock of your hair before putting it in their mouth and chewing on it. You cringed slightly, but smiled either way.
"Ew!" You laughed as you slid your hands under the baby's arms and held them out, away from your hair. The child, once again, giggled and began to babble in their own language.
You chuckled and shook your head. "You really are a strange child. . ." You muttered.
You then frowned. "And your. . . 'parents'. . ." You used your wings to make air quotes. "Really must be horrible people for wanting to get rid of a child such as yourself."
You pulled the child close to your chest and cradled them.
The child looked up at you and tilted their head to the side, confused yet curious at the same time as to what you could possibly be talking about.
You looked down at the baby, and instantly noticed how the moon seemed to reflect in his eyes.
(How you found out that the baby was male is a subject you'd rather not speak of.)
You hummed and held the baby up towards the sky. From your perspective, he looked as if he were floating in front of the half-shown-moon. You smiled as the baby boy laughed and reached out towards the stars.
"I guess I should name you, huh?" You chuckled, grabbing the baby's attention and making him look down at you curiously.
"What about. . ." You clicked your tongue and brought the baby back to your chest, embracing him tightly as you used one of your wings to tap your chin in thought.
And then, an idea — a name — popped into your head.
You suddenly broke out into a grin and snapped your fingers. "Lunar!" You looked down at the child and lifted him up in the air as he laughed and smiled.
"Your name will be Lunar!" You stated proudly, smirking at the brilliant name you had come up with for your son.
The baby giggled and clapped his hands as you chuckled once more and hugged him.
The moment, however, was soon ruined. Unfortunately.
CRASH!
Bringing the baby — Lunar — close to your chest protectively, you narrowed your eyes and your smile turned into a frown in a matter of seconds.
What the heck are they— You cut your own thoughts off with a gasp.
Your injector, a machine that weighed over a thousand pounds, was being lifted up out of the Earth's crust. How?
Steven.
You watched with wide eyes — filled with shock, bewilderment, and slight awe — as the gem hybrid dug his nails into the drill of the injector and began to lift it up out of the ground.
H-How. . .? You blinked and shook your head.
No.
How could he? He wasn't that strong, was he?
.
.
.
Was he?
You wrapped your wings around yourself. A sensation of fear — something you hadn't felt in a long time — built up in your chest.
Was. . . Was all of this really worth it?
Of course it is! A voice chimed in your head. They ALL deserve it! He deserves it! Especially after everything you ane Spinel went through because of his 'mom'!
You frowned and looked down at Lunar, who was beginning to drift off to sleep.
Weren't you a mom now, though?
Your thoughts were, once again, cut off due to a loud—
CRASH!
You looked down, only to witness as the toxic poisons of your injector splashed onto Steven's arm. The teenager flinched and groaned in pain as the poison burned through his 'organic jacket'; some of it making its way to his arm and burning through his skin, causing him to bleed.
At the sight of his blood, you felt a sudden wave of guilt crash into you like a wave.
You took a deep breath and turned away from him, ready to fly away once again.
I want this. . . You thought to yourself, even though you absolutely hated the sight of Steven being in pain. The sight of him bleeding.
With a shake of your head, and another shaky breath, you flew off; clutching Lunar close to your chest; unaware that the small baby was staring at Steven's small form sadly and reaching his chubby hands out to him.
Lunar looked up at you and noticed your troubled expression. The baby frowned, his lip quivering slightly, and he tugged on a strand of your hair, catching your attention.
You stopped, looked down, and gave a small smile. "Yes, Lunar?" You asked, your voice as quiet as a whisper.
The baby pointed at you. "M-Mama!" He said, struggling a bit.
Your eyes widened, and soon, began to fill with tears.
"W-What?" You whispered, the wind blowing through your (F/c) locks of hair gently.
Lunar then looked over your shoulder and pointed back over to the injector (which was still in sight because of how huge it was); where Steven was.
You rose a brow and followed his gaze, obviously confused.
"What? Do. . . Do you wanna go see the injector again, or, um—"
Lunar cut you off.
"Papa!"
You froze in your place and remained silent.
.
.
.
"Let's. . . go rest for now, Lunar. . ." You said, ignoring the baby's cries of protest as you opened your wings and flew off in a gust of wind.
You inhaled deeply and pulled Lunar closer, his cries muffled due to his face being snuggled into your shoulder.
"I want this." You told yourself.
And then, another thought that was lingering in the back of your mind began to pester you.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Do you?
