Chapter I

Steven lay against the swaying green grass of the hill him and the Crystal Gems were resting on, his hands resting on his stomach and a petite, yellow flower in between his fingers. The sweet summer breeze flew through his hair, making him chuckle a bit before closing his eyes; feeling relaxed and content.

"I want everything to stay exactly like this, and never change." Steven said with a peaceful sigh.

"Agreed," Pearl said with a nod.

"Here here," Amethyst called out soon after with a small laugh.

"How's the future looking Garnet? Do we all stay just like this forever?" Steven asked as he turned to the said gem and smiled.

Garnet smiled and lifted up her visors, when a sudden whistle of the wind sounded in her ears. It wasn't strong, but it didn't. . . sound right. . .

Garnet frowned and suddenly pushed herself up from her resting position with her hand, her other one still holding onto her visors. Steven looked over to her in concern as she looked up at the sky and said a quick,

"No!"

Steven's eyes widened for a second. He opened his mouth, about to ask Garnet what she meant, when a large gust of wind came up out of nowhere. Steven grunted and closed his eyed for a second, not wanting dirt to be blown into them, before opening them up once again and standing up; staring at the darkening sky with wide eyes.

The once puffy and white clouds were now dark, and gloomy. They began to swirl in the air, making it look as if there were a tornado in the sky, when they suddenly parted; revealing a large object, which was slowly lowering closer and closer to the ground. The object then stopped, in mid air, giving Steven a full view of it: looking to be the shape of an hour glass, a glass case held what seemed to be a pink liquid, and at the top of the large object looked to almost be a diamond.

And then, the object began to move. It tilted upwards a little, showing Steven and the Crystal Gems the bottom of the object; which looked to be holding something in it.

"Are you Steven Universe?" A voice called out out of nowhere, causing Steven and the Gems to look up from where it had come from. Standing atop the object, appeared to be the silhouette of someone. Steven couldn't really make out any specific features, but he could see the figures (Long/Short) hair blowing in the wind.

Steven soon began to sweat bullets. He held his hands behind his back and glanced at the ground for a quick second, before looking back up at the figure again and saying with a nervous grin,

"Um, yes?" It sounded more like a question than an answer.

Steven felt a shiver go down his spine once he saw the figure lean over the edge of the machine, which revealed to him their piercing (E/c) eyes, as well as their taunting smirk.

"Perfect~"

The figure held their hand behind their back, and a small light appeared behind them before they brought their hand back out again. Only this time, they were holding a violin.

The then began to play the instrument, confusing Steven and the Gems more, when suddenly, the bottom of the machine turned and coiled before turning into what seemed to be a drill. Then, three, large leg-like spikes came out and twirled around the drill, only making it look more menacing.

"Move!" Garnet yelled as she grabbed Amethyst and ran away, Steven and Pearl following behind her.

Steven, once again, felt a shiver go down his spine once he heard the taunting laughter from behind him and the Gems as the metal legs of the machine came down and clamped onto the mountain that held the Temple.

The machine lifted itself up a bit as Steven turned around, before — to Steven and the Gems' pure horror pulling the drill back towards the ground and sticking it into the dirt. The drill turned and coiled once again, causing its pointed tip to push itself deeper and deeper into the Earth's crusts. Once the drill went in as deep as it could go, Steven lifted his gaze up towards the figure, and flinched once he saw that he had made — even though it was a split second — eye contact with them.

The figure crouched down, before jumping off of their perch at the top of the machine. They then landed at the metal part above the drill, a shadow casted over their eyes with the light of the pink liquid behind them illuminating only their hair and their back.

And, sitting in their chest, was a pink, heart-shaped gem; upside down with a large crack in the center of it.

The figure finally looked up, revealing their face to Steven; whose eyes went wide as soon as he saw it. Saturated (S/t) skin, dull (E/c) eyes, matched with a dark shade of their (F/c) hair and the figures — her — uniform, Steven felt something unsettling about her.

She then chuckled, making Steven jump and snap out of his thoughts instantly. "Well, well, well, well, well!" The figure began, a mocking tone in their voice as they pulled a telescope up out of nowhere. "Let me get a look at the menagerie!" She said in a sing-songy voice as she used the telescope to look down at the Crystal Gems.

"You must be Amethyst!" She stated as she looked at the purple gem, whose brows furrowed angrily under her gaze.

"You must be Garnet!" Garnet frowned and rolled her hands into fists once she felt the other gems eyes on her.

The figure then turned to Pearl, and frowned. She clutched the telescope so tightly, that it shattered in her grasp, which made Steven jump. "And you're. . . Pink Diamonds Pearl." The figure chuckled and looked down, before breaking out onto full blown laughter.

"Well," The figure wiped a 'tear' from their eye and looked back down at Pearl. "She took you with her! Isn't that just. . . swell!" She said with an angry smile and clenched fists.

Pearl's eyes widened.

It was then she realized why that voice and that gem had seemed so familiar.

"It can't be. . ." Pearl said slowly, sweating nervously.

The gem laughed once again. "Oh, but it can be! And it is!" The gem smirked and flung their hair over their shoulder mockingly. "I've got a new style, and a few new toys, that are gonna put an end to your 'happily ever after', once and for all!" The gem yelled as she slammed her hand against the machine behind her, grinning manically.

It was then that Steven stepped up, and the gem frowned at the sight of him. "Whoa, whoa! This has got to be a misunderstanding," He began, noticing the gem roll her eyes and look away, but he still continued. "In case you haven't heard, I've established peace across the—"

The gem was quick to cut him off with the roll of her eyes.

"Yeah, yeah, I've heard," She said with a scoff. She then looked back down at Steven and glared at him, causing him to visibly flinch under her cold stare. "I've had your little message to the universe on LOOP!" The gem suddenly pulled out a whip, and hit Steven with it; causing him to fall back at the Crystal Gems' feet, and making Amethyst, Garnet and Pearl pull out their weapons.

"I just looooove that part! Where Pink Diamond spends the rest of her days, on this. . . nowhere planet with a bunch of. . . NOBODIES!!"

A large pair of (2F/c) wings suddenly sprung out of the gems back as she laughed and dived down off of her perch, a grin on their face.

That's right I've heard the story over and over again,

Gee, it's swell to finally meet her other friends!

The gem flew in front of Steven and smirked, a gleam in their eyes as they pushed him over and back onto the ground, earning a grunt from him. The gem laughed and flew over to Garnet, who tried to punch her, but she had kept dodging.

That's right I've heard the story,

The figure flew over to Pearl and flicked her nose, before flying up behind Amethyst and pulling her hair over her head and in front of her face.

Don't really like how it ends!

Gee, it's swell to finally meet her other friends!

The gem flew over to Pearl and suddenly grabbed her hands and began to dance with her, twirling her around, dipping her and throwing up in the air dramatically.

What did she say about us?

What did she say?

The gem then twirled Pearl away from her and grabbed Amethyst and began to juggle her in the air, treating the purple gem as if she were as light as a feather.

What did you do without us?

What did you do?

The gem threw Amethyst into Pearl, causing the two gems to stumble over onto the floor as she moved over to Garnet. She grabbed the taller gem by her wrists and flew up into the air with her and began to spin her around.

Did you play games without us?

What did you play?

The gem flew down and threw Garnet into both Amethyst and Pearl, leaving them all in a large pile before flying over to Steven and stopping right in front of him; their faces only inches apart. She flared her wings at him and glared, but still help that taunting smirk on her face.

Did you think all this time I wouldn't find out about YOU?!

Steven stepped away from her with wide eyes, causing her to laugh. She then opened her wings up widely and shot back up into the air, pulling her whip out while doing so.

Oh, that's right I've heard the story over and over again!

The gem used her whip and wrapped it around all of the gems and Steven, before pulling them all together; causing their heads to hit one another's. They all grunted in pain, and her smirk widened.

Gee, it's swell to finally meet her other friends~

She did a back flip in the air and landed at the top of the lighthouse(?) as Steven and the gems slowly got back up.

"She's running circles around us!" Garnet said, frustration in her voice.

"I'm rusty. Give me a break!" Amethyst stated, obviously annoyed.

Pearl slowly pushed herself up; her eyes wide in shock. "It. . . It really is her. But she can't be serious. . ." Pearl muttered, her words catching Steven's attention.

"You know her Pearl? Can you tell us who she is?"

The gems eyes widened. An expression of shock shot across her face, before being replaced with anger. She then looked down, and a shadow casted itself over her eyes as she stood up to her full height with her fists clenched and her wings wide open.

I came from the garden alone,

She told us that we were her own,

She walked with us, talked with us, made us feel like we were at home,

Tears began to build up in the gems eyes as she shut them tightly, not seeming to care about the look that the human boy was giving her.

But thousands of years, they go by,

Just happy to stay and play nice,

Allegiance to her we had sworn, but this diamond had turned to a rose full of thorns!

The gem looked back over to all of them, her eyes wide and full of anger as tears fell from her face; still not caring about the wide-eyed and shocked (slightly pitiful) looks that she was recieving from the gems below her.

WHO AM I?!

WHO AM I?!

WHAT ARE YOU EVEN SAYING?!

The gem stomped down to the edge of the lighthouses roof and slammed her foot down at the very edge of it, her wings flaring and a glare present on her face.

I'm the loser of the game you didn't know you were playing!

The gem then grinned and pulled something out from their back, which looked to be a small, pink object.

Let's play another game,

Soon, a blade came up from the object; revealing it to be a glowing scythe, with small bolts of electricity flickering from it.

This time we get to win!

The gem began to spin the scythe around her wrist as she crouched down, readying herself to take off into the sky.

Lives on the line,

Winner takes all,

Ready or not, let's begin!

The gem took off from their perch and flew high up into the sky before diving back down and pushing Steven back to the floor once again.

Oh, that's right I've heard the story,

Over and over again!

She then landed on the ground in the center of the Crystal Gems roughly, causing smoke to fly up. She continued to spin the scythe around her wrists, and even tried to hit the gems, but they all fell back and fell down before she could, making her laugh.

Gee, it's swell to finally beat her other friends~!

She flew back up into the sky, and flew around her machine; knocking the gems back down once again.

Oh, that's right I've heard the story,

Don't really like how it ends!

After flying around her machine, the gem flew past the gems in a gust of wind and around the light house, lifting her scythe up and preparing herself for the final blow needed to poof them.

Gee, it's swell to finally meet her,

Other. . .

The gems all narrowed their eyes and began to run towards her, not noticing Steven holding his hand out to them and trying to stop them.

Other. . .

The gem smirked once she saw that the Crystal Gems were close enough. She opened her wings, and dove down toward them, spinning the scythe around her wrists, arms and neck as a large, evil grin began to run across her face.

Other. . .

Friends!

And with that, the scythe sliced through each and every one of them, and they all poofed, and their gems fell to the ground soon after.
