AU Chapter Special: The Hybrid Raised To Be a Diamond
(A/n: Credits to the artist who made the artwork above! I would put the artist's actual name, but I couldn't find it, so sorry about that. Now, I'm not sure if this AU has an OFFICIAL name yet, but I think it's called 'Diamond Steven'. And to those of you who don't know, it's basically an AU where Steven was raised by the Diamonds instead of the Crystal Gems. And it's because of this, he's not exactly the original Steven that we all know and love. But still, I hope you all enjoy~☆)
P.S. This chapter is unedited, so I apologize for any grammar mistakes.

"It's been 6,000 years, Spinel." You told your friend as you looked down at your hands, which were folded in front of you.
Spinel only nodded and sniffled, tears building up in her eyes. "I know. . ." She began, looking down at her feet and letting her arms fall down to her sides. "I just don't want it to be true. That she. . ." Spinel sniffled again and wiped the tears beginning to stream down her face.
You frowned and placed a hand on Spinel's shoulder, making her look up at you as you sent her a sad smile.
"At least we still have eachother, right?" You said, trying to lighten up the mood and make your friend feel better.
Spinel stared at you for a bit, and then smiled and nodded, tears still falling from her eyes. "Yeah," She wiped a few of her tears away, only for them to be replaced with more. "I guess you're right." She chuckled.
You frowned slightly, not liking the sight of your friends tears, and opened your mouth to say something when you were cut off by an all too familiar sound; a sound that you hadn't heard over the past 6,000 years:
The warp pad.
You and Spinel gasped and turned, looking up the stairs in which the warp pad sat. Spinel suddenly smiled happily and turned to you, almost bouncing in her place as she clasped her hands together while you smiled slightly as well; hope returning to the both of you.
"See, (Y/n)?" Spinel nudged your side with her elbow, making you chuckle and wrap your arms around yourself to prevent her from nudging you anymore. "I told you she would be back for us!" Spinel grinned joyously and turned back to the warp pad as the beam of light erupting from it began to disappear, just when the silhouette of a figure was beginning to grow visible. . .
A figure with fluffy hair.
Spinel squealed out of excitement and you placed a hand on her shoulder, a signal you used to tell her to calm down as you stared at the warp pad with a suspicious look in your eyes.
That figure. . . it didn't really look like Pink to you, honestly. . .
But then. . . who could it be?
Your questions were soon answered when the beam of light erupting from the warp disappeared completely; revealing just who was standing in it, and the other gem standing next to them.
Needless to say, it wasn't exactly Pink who was standing before you and Spinel up the stairs.
Spinel's smile instantly faded and she turned to you, looking as if she were a lost puppy; scared and confused.
You gave her a nervous smile, trying your best to ease her nerves, even though you needed someone or something to ease yours for you as well.
You took Spinel's hand in yours and placed a finger over your lips, giving her a sign that it would probably be best if you both remained silent.
Spinal hesitated, but then nodded and turned away from you and looked up at the two figures at the top of the stairs.
You, however, did the exact opposite and looked down at your feet; growing more terrified than nervous with ever passing second.
Who were they? Why were they here? Where was Pink? What did they want with you? Were they going to hurt you and Spinel?
Were they. . . going to shatter the two of you?
You gulped at the thought and remained silent as you listened to the sound of someone walking down the steps echo throughout the endless, night sky.
And then, the footsteps stopped, and your shoulders tensed as soon as you felt someone's eyes lock onto your form.
Stay calm, (Y/n). Stay calm.
You took a shaky breath and gripped Spinel's hand tighter, and she gripped yours back; almost as if she were saying that you weren't alone in this.
You smiled slightly and nodded, taking some comfort in that.
Unknowing to the two of you, however, a pair of pink eyes with diamond-shaped pupils in the center of them was staring down at your held hands with an envious, narrowed glare.

Steven let out an annoyed, yet bored sigh as he sat alone in his seat in the Moon Base; with his Pearl standing beside him silently as he typed away on the buttons of the computer, watching as screens with different reports began to pop before him one by one in a matter of seconds.
God, this is boring, The Diamond thought to himself with a frown as he looked down and pressed a button, which caused all of the smaller screens to disappear and return to their data base as an even bigger one took their place.
And then, Pearl decided to speak, annoying Steven even more.
"The last report of the colony shows that—"
Steven clenched his fists and grinded his teeth before opening his mouth and repeating her words. " 'Thi list ripirt if thi ciliny shiw thit'. . ." The Diamond mocked, growling deeply as he turned to his Pearl and glared at her.
"I'm watching the same screen, Pearl," Steven growled and stood up, towering over the cowering gem before him. "Don't waste my time."
Pearl gasped and quickly did the Diamond Salute, sweating bullets as a look of fear flashed across her face. "F-Forgive me, My Diamond!" She said nervously, bowing her head slightly and shutting her eyes tightly.
Steven rolled his eyes and tsked as he turned back to the screen and began his process of pressing buttons once again. Only this time, he pressed something wrong, and the screen disappeared.
Steven's eyes widened and he quickly stood up, growling out of frustration as he snapped his gaze over to Pearl, who jumped and once again did the Diamond Salute.
"What're you just standing there for? Find out what's wrong with this blasted thing!" Steven ordered lowly as he punched the key bad.
Pearl nodded frantically and walked over to the key pad before typing a few things in. "T-The computer says something about a place called the 'garden'. . ." Pearl stuttered.
She then turned to Steven, who had his arms crossed as he glared up at the the space where his screen used to be. "S-Should I access the cameras, M-My Diamond?" Pearl asked, scared that she could possibly upset her Diamond and make him yell at her again.
Steven remained silent for a bit, humming in thought. He then tsked once more and glanced over to Pearl, before looking away from her again and nodding.
Pearl nodded and pressed a few buttons on her keypad. Two screens then suddenly popped up before her, and she pressed her fingers against them before dragging them together and pressing a large, red button.
And then five screens appeared before Steven; each of them showing a difference location in this 'garden'.
Steven scanned over each of the screens carefully, seeing if any of them showed anything that could be valuable, but all they did show was just some run down and broken garden: nothing more.
Steven growled lowly under his breath in frustration and turned to Pearl, about to order her to turn the cameras off, when he caught something out of the corner of his eye:
The sight of two gems, standing alone in the garden by themselves.
And one of those gems, looked to be a Marriposa.
Steven's eyes widened slightly and he leaned closer to the screens, squinted his eyes at them.
The two gems just stood there, that was all they looked to be doing. Sure, they moved their heads every now and then to look at one another, but that was it. And it bothered Steven a lot because neither of them turned far enough for him to get a good look at their faces.
That is, until, the Marriposa turned around to watch a butterfly, and Steven froze in his place.
.
.
.
.
.
God. She had to have been the most beautiful thing he had ever seen in his life.
Steven once again remained silent and only continued to watch her. The way that the occasional breeze came by and ruffled through her (H/c) locks of hair, how her (E/c) eyes seemed to light up every time she saw something that interested her from where she stood, and her smile. . . wow. Just wow.
Steven straightened his back and hummed, rubbing his chin in thought as he turned his gaze down to his feet while Pearl watched him, a nervous yet worried look on her face.
Steven then suddenly turned to Pearl, and she jumped. "You said that this was a place called the 'garden', right?" He asked, picking his jacket up from where he had hung it before slipping his arms through its sleeves.
Pearl blinked and nodded. "T-That is correct, My D-Diamond. . ." She stuttered, holding her hands behind her back.
Steven clicked his tongue and picked up his scabbard, where he kept his sword. He then placed his weapon on his belt and began to walk out of the room, down the stairs towards the warp pad.
"Download the coordinates now, then, and set the warp to take us there." Steven said, stuffing his hands into his pockets as Pearl nodded and began to so as told.
"As you wish. . ." Steven jumped off of the top of the stairs and levitated downwards towards the warp, his eyes beginning to emit a pink glow.
"My Diamond." And with that, Pearl soon joined Steven at his side, and the warp was activated.
*****
When Steven landed on the ground, he opened his eyes and immediately made a disgusted face at the sight before him.
Whoever this garden belongs to should really take up some gardening lessons. . . The Diamond thought, waving his hand in front of his nose as he cringed at the smell.
Steven then tsked and looked down, only for his eyes land on a certain pair of gems standing below him at the bottom of the staies.
One of those gems being you.
Steven hummed and moved his hands behind his back; looking professional as he walked down the stairs towards you and whoever the other gem standing next to you was. Pearl soon followed after him, doing the Diamond Salute the whole time as she sent her Diamond a few nervous glances.
As Steven walked down towards the two of you, he noticed a few things. Such as how the pink gem standing next to you seemed to rely on you for comfort, which you would gladly return. He noticed how nervous you looked whenever you glanced over to him out of the corner of your eye, and he internally smirked.
Good. You knew that he was to be feared.
His smirk soon faltered, however, because that was when something else happened.
You reached your hand over to the pink gems', and held it.
Steven frowned and glared down at your held hands, a spark in his eyes that couldn't be quite explained.
And soon, he was standing in front of the two of you.
You two hung your heads down, not wanting to meet his cold, calculating gaze. And yet, even though that was what most gems did, Steven found it. . . annoying to see you looking anywhere but him.
Steven cleared his throat as Pearl walked up and introduced him, making the pink gem look up slightly, before quickly reverting her gaze back down, and Steven rolled his eyes before looking over to you.
He had to hold back a growl when he saw that you were still looking down as well.
Steven then inhaled deeply and crossed his arms, narrowing his eyes as he spoke. "Introduce yourselves," He commanded, making Spinel jump and look up at him as you only continued to remain silent.
Spinel gulped and gripped your hand tighter, not noticing the envious twitch that had come from Steven as soon as he saw her small action.
"I-I'm Spinel! I. . . I'm a gem that was made to entertain. . .?" She trailed off, chucking nervously and scratching the back of her neck.
Steven cocked a brow. "Spinel?" He hummed and began to walk around her, taking in her features and examining her. He then grabbed ahold of one of her pigtails and ran his fingers through it, rubbing his chin in thought.
"So, you're supposed to 'entertain' me?" He asked as Spinel grinned nervously and gave him a hesitant nod. "U-Um, yes. . ." Spinel looked over and almost immediately noticed the Diamond Salute the Pearl was doing; meaning only one thing.
Spinel took a shaky breath as her shoulders tensed. ". . . My Diamond. . ."
At hearing those words escape her lips, your eyes widened and you gasped; loudly.
.
.
.
It was soon a deathly quiet as Steven snapped his gaze over to your form, which was now looking up with a petrified look in your eyes, and with your hands clasped over your mouth from shock.
Steven walked over to you, and you tensed when you felt him grab a strand of your hair, pulling it out, but not too roughly. "And you. . ." Steven grabbed your chin and tilted your head up to meet his eyes. "What about you? What can you do for me?" He asked, his voice sounding. . . softer all of a sudden.
Your face reddened a bit and you folded your hands in front of yourself. "I-I go b-by (Y/n), My Diamond. I-I'm a gem mostly meant for entertainment as well. I dance and sing and. . . yeah. . ." You mentally kicked yourself after those words left your mouth.
Steven stayed silent, taking in your features slowly.
God.
You looked so much prettier up close.
Steven stood in thought for a while, not letting go of the strand of your hair he had in his hand as he continued to rub his chin in thought.
That was, however, until he finally spoke.
"Pearl," He began, turning to the said gem; who jumped out of surprise before regaining most of her composure. "Y-Yes, My Diamond?" She stuttered, holding her hands behind he back.
"Tell the Bismuth's that I want two new chambers added into my sector at once. We have new guests joining us today." He said, turning back to face you as he brought the strand of your (H/c) hair up to his lips and kissed it.
"And please," He walked up to you and suddenly picked you up bridal style, making your face erupt in red as you let out a cry of surprise and instinctively wrapped your arms around his neck.
"Make sure that (Y/n)'s quarters are built close to mine." And with that, he turned a heel and began to walk up back to the warp pad; holding you close in his arms as Spinel skipped after the two of you; happy to finally be able to leave the garden.
When Steven and the others stepped back onto the warp pad, he suddenly looked down and you and moved a strand of your hair behind your ear. "(Y/n)," He began, making you look up at him curiously.
"I don't want you to call me, 'My Diamond', do you understand?" He asked, staring deeply into your eyes.
You gulped slightly, getting redder by the second, and nodded before asking, "Then what do I call you?"
.
.
.
.
.
"Steven." With that, the warp pad activated and you were all gone; leaving the garden empty and barren.
