I laid in my bed silently. The sun peeked through the window and lit up my guilt from the night before. I sighed as the memory slapped my mind. I don't know how I ended up in Zine's room but it freaked me out when my body started to move on its own again. My wings bristled at the thought.

I mentally shook my head. As soon as I regained my bearings, Liam came in. He noticed that I wasn't in my room on his way back from the bathroom. He came to Obsidian's room to ask where I was but found me on the floor- sitting beside Zine.

With a shake of his head, he just picked me up and took me back to my room.

"What were you doing in there?" He asked, while looking down at me.

I put my head against his chest. "I don't know. I woke up there and couldn't find my way back" I lied. I didn't want him to hate me for my actions in Zine's room. It scared me and I didn't know how to defend my actions yet.

Liam set me in the bed while my thoughts had me chained. "I'll always find you, Kye" He smiled at me and-

Knocks on the door took me out of my flashback.

"Hey, Kye!" Zine could be heard from the other side. "You can't learn how to fly by just staying in bed!"

I bit my lip before getting out of bed to open the door. My hand stopped on the handle as nervous chatter filled my head. What if he is angry at me? What if he decides to leave early? What if Obsidian is angry at me and posions my food? What if-

The door suddenly hit me in the face as it opened.

Zine choked on his words when he saw me cradling my face.

".............Sorry.....but you need to hurry up! Plus.....that makes up for last night I guess." Zine gave me an evil grin and grabbed my arm, dragging me out of the room.

My feet dragged along the floor before running after him with my wrist in his grasp. My face tingled with slight pain but I ignored it. "Where are we going?"

My question was soon answered as we ended up outside. I saw some other people around the grassy field but they paid us no attention as Zine stood with his back to me.

Zine turned to me and gave me a wide smile.

"Isn't it obvious? I'm going to get you to start flying! I came to teach ya didn't I? Even though you're still a twig....I figure if you experience actually flying and realize how physically draining it can be maybe you will want to eat more on your own?"

I felt my face scrunch up. "I feel fine but sure" I looked down in my pajamas and realized how underdressed I looked when compared to Zine.

"Where do we start?" I asked.

Zine knelt down and opened his wings. I watched in awe at him as he shot up into the air and his wings pumped him through the air.

"How is this teaching me anything?" I shouted at him as he did figure eights in the air.

"Raise your hands in the air!" Zine yelled back. I raised my hands in the air, wondering what he was planning.

Zine swooped down and caught my hands. My feet (that loved the grass between my toes) felt a bit flustered as it was replaced with air. I looked up at Zine and saw a smile plastered on his face and it made me feel nervous when he stopped. I looked down at the ground and became a bit scared as the ground hid behind some clouds.

I gulped. "What are you doing?"

Zine grinned down at me.

"Giving you a boost?"

And with that, he dropped me.

My body fell sideways as it became harder and harder to keep my eyes open. I raised a hand in Zine's direction as he floated further away from me.

I was terrified for a second that I was about to become a Kyecake on the ground so my instincts took over and my wings unfurled, making me glide a bit. It felt nice and the wind against my face cradled me like the arms of a mother.

Just as I was getting comfortable though, the wind became aggressive and blew me sideways. My wings drove to keep me afloat but the wind was adamant on getting me to topple over.

So we met a compromise- which landed me in a tree.

I crashed sideways and the scent of pine climbed up my nostrils. I closed my eyes as I kept flying sideways until I got to the bark of the tree.

I blinked and looked around in confusion, realizing Zine hadn't dropped me very far at all. He had dropped me just a few feet above a tree.

I did not notice because I was too focused on him.

Zine glided down and landed expertly on the branch while I clung to the shaking wood.

"You should have seen your face! Oh my god!" Zine laughed.

I frowned at him. I was going to respond but something was in my eyes and nose. It burned a bit and I felt my eyes water as I released the tree to wipe my eyes with my shirt.

"....Uh...are you ok? I didn't mean to scare you or anything?" Zine said sounding nervous.

I looked up from my shirt and saw water marks on it. I looked at Zine and replied, "Nah there was just something in my eyes."

Zine visibly relaxed.

"Ah....I should have not done that....my bad... but I just wanted to talk a bit without people overhearing....plus.....you seem to not be the type to do things unless they're forced on you." Zine laughed hesitantly.

I cocked my head at him.

"You see........what..what was that last night? Whose Jack and why the hell was he so creepy?"

I swallowed the dread at the back of my throat before answering. "It's a long story"
