●A lot of people look for that one person who they know will be there for them on stormy days.

The person who would happily dance in the rain with them even when the thunder strikes fear in their hearts.

The one whose eyes light up in wonder when the lightning kisses the earth before retreating to the heavens.

It was now daybreak outside and the Sun tried beaming light through the nearly pitch black windows.

Nova wasn't sure how long they had been driving but it had to be a while because Bella had started to doze off.

It was obvious she was doing her best to stay awake but Nova had taken pity on her.

"Here." She offered her shoulder and at first Bella hesitated. If she was fully awake then she would've refused but she had started developing the same pure feelings towards Nova that she had for Edward.

So she gave in and rested her head.

She was shocked at how human the girl felt. She wasn't as hard as stone or cold as ice. There was a certain warmth and softness that lured Bella to sleep.

"She's asleep, is there something you wanted to ask?" Jasper looked at her through the mirror hanging from the car ceiling.

Nova looked out the window, "I don't normally open up to strangers, let alone leave my squad for them."

"But?"

Nova shook her head, "I don't know if I could be there when they find him. I know what he's doing is wrong but he's almost all I know. In a way, I'm hoping they fail so that he could have just one more chance of realizing he's pushing things too far this time."

She glanced in Jasper's direction, "Is it wrong for me to say that?"

"No. You have a connection with him."

"I've spent a good bit of my life with him."

"That's not the only reason you jumped ship though, is it?"

"I don't know. There's this feeling that makes me feel tied to you all in ways I don't understand yet." Nova knew how odd that sounded but she was one to express her feelings honestly. A little too honestly sometimes.

Jasper didn't respond and so Nova grabbed onto Alice's seat and looked at her in concern.

She noticed how quiet the short haired woman was the whole time and from the impression she got earlier, it felt unusual.

"Hey, pixie. Everything okay?"

Alice looked back at her with a smile," Yeah, of course." She kept her voice low in order to not wake the sleeping human.

Nova wanted to reply but they had pulled into the parking lot of a decent looking hotel. She assumed this was where they would be staying for the time being.

"Wow, how fancy." She said sarcastically while rolling her eyes.

Alice giggled, "I'm sorry beautiful, next time I'll fly you out to the world's greatest hotel."

Nova smirked as she started to get out of the car, "I'll hold you to that."

Jasper used his inhuman speed to open the door for both Nova and Alice who smiled at the gesture.

"So, who's taking sleeping beauty?"

Jasper didn't exactly feel comfortable and it showed with how tense his body was.

Nova huffed and opened Bella's door while Alice grabbed the bags from inside the trunk.

Jasper went ahead through the main entrance to pick up their room key.

Nova carefully but swiftly picked up the human who felt light as a feather in her arms.

Bella stayed asleep much to their surprise but Nova was even more shocked when she nestled into her more.

Nova lowered her voice to a whisper and walked towards the hotel's side entrance. "Did you guys actually pay for this room or are we just breaking in?"

Alice jokingly shushed her which only confirmed her thoughts.

But in reality, Alice did make arrangements but she did it while Nova was sleeping.

To Nova the tense atmosphere was gone and was replaced with something much lighter. She felt like a teenage girl sneaking back into her home after a long night out.

Jasper couldn't stop the smile spreading across his face from the way Nova was feeling. He was glad she was feeling better and even happy at that.

Nova was half tempted to throw Bella onto the bed and close the door. She chuckled to herself at the impulsive thought she had and pulled back the blankets and sheets.

As she placed the girl down she noticed the tear tracks under her eyes.

She frowned and wiped away the remaining tears and covered the teen up. For a moment she felt a tiny bit of happiness from having someone to take care of.

She gave the girl one last look then left out the room and quietly closed the door.

Nova walked into the general living space where Jasper and Alice were sitting.

She plopped herself down on a small seat across from them with a sigh.

"What are we supposed to do now?"

Alice answered her calmly, "We wait."

Nova sighed again but this time in boredom.

She wasn't worried about the others as much anymore, she just wanted something to do.

Every few minutes she would fidget unnecessarily and braid a section of hair only to take it down a few seconds later.

It was hard not to take notice of all the blonde vampire's mannerisms and Alice wanted to help ease her into relaxing more.

"Can I do your hair, just to pass time?"

Nova just shrugged and got up, "Sure, why not." She walked over and sat on the floor in between the short haired vampire's legs.

"Tell me about your family." Nova wanted to know more about them and was extremely curious.

Surprisingly Jasper is the one who spoke up. "What all do you want to know?"

"Well I know Carlisle runs the show and that Edward and Bella are somehow together. I'm not sure about everything else. Who was the blonde with the attitude?"

Alice was lightly braiding a few strands of her hair as she spoke.

"You mean you?"

Nova laughed and flicked her off causing Alice to join in on her laughter. "Okay the other one."

"That was Rosalie or Rose. She's just protective of the family so she can seem a bit harsh at times. Emmett brings out the best in her most of the time."

Nova nodded to the best of her ability," Emmett is the big one with the curls?"

"Mhm."

"What about the other woman? Brown hair?"

"That's Esme, Carlisle's mate. She adores you already."

Nova slightly smirked, "I don't blame her, I'm amazing."

The two vampires behind her smiled down at her even though she couldn't see it.

"What about you?"

This made her freeze for half a second but she gathered herself.

"There's nothing all that special about me."

"Considering you have a heartbeat, I highly doubt that love."

"I'm sure you both heard my explanation earlier but besides that I can mirror others. "

The mated pair was intrigued but didn't want to overstep by asking too many questions just yet.

Alice was a little bit more curious than her counterpart. "I don't think I've heard of anything like that before."

"It's hard to explain exactly but if someone used their "gift" on me, I would be able to copy it and use it on them for a small period of time. Kinda like a reflection. The longer I'm exposed to that person, the easier it gets."

It was true. Nova's ability was a last resort for her because if the person she was mirroring had a gift that preyed on her physical senses, it made her feel thirsty and exhausted.

On the other hand, mental gifts didn't really affect her and she was able to reflect them with ease.

A part of her wondered if those drawbacks would lessen the more she practiced but she was never really given the opportunity to do so.

"Laurent wanted to try to learn more about it but..." She trailed off for a bit and decided to change the subject. "Do any of you have any abilities?" She wondered if their eye color was part of their gifts.

"I can see the future based on people's decisions."

Nova's eyes widened in disbelief but then she grinned slightly, "You really are a pixie then." She didn't feel the need to ask for proof, a gut feeling let her know Alice wouldn't lie to her.

She glanced in Jasper's direction. "What about you?"

Nova was confused when he didn't respond but then she felt a type of high settle in her brain. It made her loosen up completely and lean her head back on Alice's thigh.

It only lasted another second but then it was gone.

"Empathy." His tone was full of amusement.

She snorted and sent a smile his way, "I think that's a bit more than just empathy sir."

He lazily smiled back for a moment.

"And the eyes? Is that like a cult thing or?"

"Very funny but no, it's due to our diet. We feed on animals rather than humans."

Nova made a disgusted face. In all her years she had never even considered drinking the blood of an animal. It just didn't seem appetizing but considering Bella was among them she shouldn't have been surprised.

"How the hell do you manage that?"

"Practice."

Alice was in the small bedroom, tending to Bella who had woken up.

Nova stayed seated on the floor as she listened in on the two girls.

Jasper seemed to ooze this strong feeling of safety and so Nova leaned against his leg instinctively.

She only realized what she was doing when Alice and Bella walked into the room. Her head lifted up immediately just as Alice sat back where she was.

A part of Nova wanted to feel embarrassed but being close to them felt right and she subconsciously yearned for more.

Bella uneasily watched the way Alice was still playing in Nova's hair.

She was so desperately worried about the others, especially Edward but the way the trio in front of her acted as if nothing was wrong made her nauseous.

Her heart began racing when she realized no one had called yet.

"Should he have called by now?"

Alice briefly paused her motions to glance at her phone before she continued.

Without an answer Bella internally panicked more. "What does that mean? That he hasn't called yet?"

This time Alice did answer, "It means that they don't have anything to tell us."

Bella swallowed harshly and it felt like it was getting hard to breathe.

Jasper was quick to pick up on her emotions.

"Bella, you have nothing to worry about. You are completely safe here."

"I know that."

"Then why are you scared?"

"You heard what they said," she motioned to Nova's figure," James is lethal. What if something goes wrong and they get separated? If any of them get hurt...How can I live with myself when it's my fault? None of you should be risking yourselves for me."

She took a deep breath,"How can you just sit here and pretend nothing is wrong?"

Nova's head snapped up and she was suddenly in the teen girl's face with a numb expression.

"Are you done whining?"

She leaned in closer which made Bella's heart skip a beat.

"If all you're going to do is have a pity party for yourself, can you at least do it quietly? It's giving me a headache."

Nova wasn't trying to be mean but she was so upset with the current circumstances. She genuinely did care about Victoria and she knew taking away James would be torturous for the redhead.

The woman then went to sit next to Jasper and leaned against his shoulder. He was drawing her in and she let him.

Alice walked over to the human and grabbed her hand. "You can't see the changes but we can. Edward has been alone for a century, and none of us want to look into his eyes for the next one if he loses you."

Bella went silent and played with her fingers. She sat down in the same chair that Nova was in at first.

Her knee bounced for a good minute then she curled her arms around her legs.

Another day passed by.

Nova knocked softly on the bedroom door and opened it when a small voice called out.

Bella was sitting on the corner of the bed, staring blankly at a wall but she looked away when she noticed it was Nova coming to check on her.

Nova closed the door behind her even though she knew the pair of mates would hear anyway.

"I'm sorry for snapping at you yesterday. I know you're worried and wanting answers just like the rest of us. "

Bella felt a little bit of embarrassment for being so clueless but she also was upset with herself for being inconsiderate.

"If anything, I should be apologizing. You're still here, trying to help even though you're close to James."

Bella was thankful that Nova was here and she couldn't imagine being in her position. Knowing someone you care about would most likely not be alive by the end of this had to be a heavy feeling.

"So, how did you get tangled up with vampires?" Nova didn't want to think about James too much so she changed the subject and sat in the middle of the bed while facing Bella.

Bella looked down with a halfhearted smile then looked back up at her.

"More like he got tangled up with me."

"Wait a minute, he went after you?"

Bella shrugged, "Something like that."

Nova laughed and moved closer to the girl, "Tell me about it."

And so she did.

By now the girls had been talking for around three hours about everything that came to mind.

They both were laying down facing each other with teenage excitement.

Bella felt immensely comfortable in the vamp's presence and it helped her not stress as much.

"Imagine having to fuck a wrinkly ass lady with gummy teeth."

The human cringed but giggled.

"I hope he doesn't let me get that old before changing me."

Nova's face turned semi-serious and she laid flat on her back, "Why do you want to be changed?"

Bella laid back too and inhaled deeply. If she had been asked that three hours ago her answer would have been simple. Edward.

But now as she sat back and really thought about it and after spending time reminiscing with Nova, she paused.

The young vampire easily made her remember what was so pure and good about being human.

Nova noticed her silence and propped her head on her elbow then went back to facing Bella.

"Becoming a vampire may seem glamorized but that's only because he allows you to see certain parts."

Bella turned to face her and Nova continued speaking.

"But once you're turned, you're forced to adapt. You have to leave behind everyone you love, not just because they might question your age but because trying to contain your thirst is so damn impossible at first. And unless you want to risk killing them, you stay away. Everything becomes different at that point."

Nova's eyes were distant, "Everything that makes you who you are as a living person is burned to ashes by the venom. Sure, you can pretend to live among people but it won't ease that craving of humanity."

She looked Bella dead in the eyes and frowned. "You shouldn't choose something of this caliber just to be with him forever or to prevent aging. That's a perfect mixture for regrets to be made."

Bells nodded slightly and let Nova's words embed themselves into her brain. She would have to think more about what she wanted. But for now she leaned her head on Nova's warm shoulder and dozed off.

Without warning, Alice's body jerked up. "Something's changed."

Jasper jumped up and placed his hands on her shoulders while guiding her to sit back down.

"What do you see?"

"I see a room. It's long and there are mirrors everywhere. There's gold," she paused, "a gold stripe across the mirrors. "

"Where is the room?" Jasper radiated calmness as he asked her questions in a professional manner.

"I don't know. Something is missing. Another decision hasn't been made yet."

Nova sat next to her then gently held her hand and rubbed her thumb across the back of it soothingly.

"How much time?"

"Soon, he'll be in the mirror room today, or maybe tomorrow. It all depends. He's waiting for something and he's in the dark now."

Nova's eyes widened and she came to the conclusion everyone was thinking. "He changed plans."

Jasper handed Alice a pen and paper and she instantly began to draw.

Bella's eyes lit up slightly as she watched the drawing take form. "It's going to lead him to a ballet studio?"

Alice looked at Jasper then back at the human. "You've been here before?"

"I took lessons as a kid and the one I went to had an arch just like that."

"And where is that?"

Bella froze and locked eyes with Alice.

That studio was here in Phoenix where the girl's mother was supposed to be coming home to.

Nova only huffed angrily at the sketch and due to the information she learned. She knew that they needed to make sure Bella's mother would be safe as soon as possible.●

{Okay so this story has been on hold due to the fact I had to figure some things out.

Let's start with Nova's anatomy. She will be a mixture of a "twilight" vampire and a "vampire diaries" vampire.

Vampires in the Vampire diaries have every human trait besides the ability to reproduce sexually. They still have a heartbeat, can eat/sleep and have blood running through their veins.

They also can be hurt and will need to consume blood in order to heal.

Drinking human blood makes them stronger and have heightened abilities.

But they also feel their emotions much more intensely and it can easily become overwhelming.

This is where Nova's strength and humanity comes from.

Because in Twilight we know newborns are strong because they still have their own blood in their system.

See the correlation?

But she will not have a weakness to sunlight or be liable for death in any form other than fire like the average twilight vampire.

Her gift should be explained thoroughly throughout the book so I'm not too concerned abt that.
