●Ronal sat inside her healing marui and was carefully putting away the new materials she had gathered.

Occasionally she would stop to gently rub her swollen stomach lovingly. She couldn't wait for their fourth child to arrive and complete their family. This was only her second time carrying a baby and she didn't realize how much she missed the connection that formed during pregnancy.

Her mind and body were also more in tune and her senses were heightened. It made her feel that she was more connected to Eywa herself which was the biggest gift to her family. She smiled to herself and continued to organize her things while humming quietly

There was a familiar tug in her chest and she turned her head to the entrance just as Nalani walked in. Her smile got a little bit wider upon seeing her wife but her happiness was stolen when Nalani only gave her a grim smile.

"There's been an incident and you are needed immediately."

Any evidence of her pure thoughts and feelings were completely wiped clean.

Nalani and Ronal approached the Sullys' home with seldom faces. Both not knowing what to expect in the darkness of the night.

Outside the pod were a pacing Jake, Lo'ak, Neteyam and to their surprise, Tonowari. One of their children must have called him. He was speaking quietly to Jake but stopped when they arrived. All were relieved to see Ronal and had faith in her knowledge.

She wordlessly walked inside while Nalani stayed outside with the boys.

Nalani grasped Tonowari's hand and looked to Jake, "How is she?" She didn't outwardly show it but she was worried about the young child.

The distraught father peeked inside while speaking, "Still unresponsive." His heart was racing with anxiety that he fought to keep from showing on his face. Although, his body language gave him away.

Tonowari took the time to wrap his arm around Lani and bring her into his side. He had a feeling his next words would set her off and wanted to soften the blow. "He wants permission for his people to come check on the girl."

"What's wrong with that?" Although there was some tension between the forest and reef Na'vi, she didn't see any real reason to deny his request. Especially if their people had a solution to help Kiri.

"There will be sky people and their technology."

Nalani whipped her head around to face him with bared teeth. "More outsiders? No. You cannot allow this." It wasn't that she didn't trust Jake, she just didn't trust the others. He had earned his right to be among them but they have not. At least not in her eyes.

Allowing their presence will only cause more tension within the people and even her own family. Ronal would certainly not be happy with their arrival and it would cause another rift to wedge between them.

Nalani would not allow this.

Tonowari had a feeling she would react this way and calmly placed his large hand on her shoulder, "They can help the child-"

Nalani held back the hiss bubbling up her throat, "Our wife will help her."

She turned back to Jake with sympathetic eyes, "I'm sorry Jake but we cannot let this be."

Jake winced but he understood where she was coming from. "Lani please. It's my daughter and I need their help to find out what's wrong. What if it was your daughter? What would you do?"

Nalani's heart ached a bit at the use of her nickname. She thought about how far she would go for her own kids. She glanced inside the pod where Neytiri and Ronal sat close together hovering over Kiri. By the looks of it they were discussing different possibilities and treatments.

Her eyes dropped down to a crying Tuk and she felt her resolve start to break. It almost broke completely when she turned back and saw Neteyam comforting Lo'ak. That's when she decided.

The quicker Kiri was back to normal the better off the family would be. Her faith still was absolutely placed into her wife's capabilities but if it reassured the family then she would trust Jake and her husband's judgement.

"Okay." One word that would change the outcome of their lives. "But if they cause trouble then they will leave and you will go with them."

Nalani didn't know it but she was right. Allowing them to come here would be one of the worst decisions she had ever made.

Time passed by slowly yet the feelings of anxiety constantly got higher.

The only thing that changed was that everyone outside now sat closely together, speaking quietly amongst themselves.

Nalani leaned her head against Tonowari's shoulder and forced herself to stay awake. Every now and then she would get up to check in on Ronal and her progress but then she'd return back to her husband's warm embrace.

She briefly thought to herself, when had life gotten to be so serious and dense? It seemed like it had been such a long time ago when her only troubles consisted of the dangerous adventures her children would go on. Now she had so much more to worry about, from the safety of her family and people down to the amount of disagreements her mates found themselves in due to recent circumstances.

She wanted things to go back to how they were before. Peaceful. But that seemed like too much to ask.

Ronal's voice broke her out of her thoughts. "I will be able to heal her but it will take time. For now she must continue resting and I will return in the morning." The tired Tsahik walked out of the pod followed by Neytiri. She spoke firmly to both her mates and to the worried parents. She had stayed there for hours working to help Kiri but she had done all she could for now.

Jake breathed a deep sigh of relief, "Thank you, Ronal." Anyone could tell Kiri was much more comfortable and at peace in her sleep. Whatever Ronal did put her mind at ease.

But it had taken a lot out of Ronal and at the first sign of exhaustion, her mates were at her side. Tonowari wrapped his strong arm around her waist providing support and Nalani grabbed her basket of items.

They seemed to ignore the eyes of Neytiri and Jake and focused purely on their wife.

Tonowari began to lead them away. "We need to get you home." He knew Ronal was strong but it was time for her to rest.

Nalani bid the other couple a quick goodnight then followed after her mates.

The walk home was uneventful thankfully. The trio were extremely tired and ready to sleep for the few hours of night they had left.

Walking into their pod, they saw a barely awake Rotxo waiting for them. His tail started to sway slowly behind him once he saw them walk in. Nalani urged Tonowari to get Ronal to rest while she spoke with their son.

She sat down the basket she was carrying and crouched down in front of her youngest boy. "Why are you still awake?" Her hand subconsciously made its way to his cheek.

"Is Kiri okay? Is she awake?" He had been worried for a while and couldn't sleep until he knew the other teen was alright. He had seen sick people before but he had never seen someone's body react that way to the Spirit Tree.

"She's going to be okay. Your mother helped her relax but she hasn't awoken yet. It's going to take a little more time." She knew that wasn't exactly what he wanted to hear but she wouldn't lie to him. Honesty was important to her and it was something her children appreciated.

Rotxo sleepily nodded his head and started to lean against her. She let him and decided to get more comfortable. They could both sleep here for tonight. ●
