[05] Beyond Repair

Kiara stood in front of the mirror, smoothing out her outfit with a sense of determination, despite the lingering uneasiness and nervousness from her conversation with Dhvani earlier that morning. The conversation had brought up memories and emotions that she thought she had long buried, and it had taken her a while to shake off the feeling of vulnerability that had settled in. However, as she got ready for the day, Kiara felt a sense of resolve wash over her. She was determined to face the day with courage and confidence, and not let her emotions get the better of her.

She had chosen a simple yet elegant outfit - a black top that accentuated her slender figure, paired with cream-colored pants that added a touch of warmth to her overall look. Her long, dark hair cascaded down her back, and her bright brown eyes sparkled with a hint of determination. As she applied a light layer of makeup, Kiara felt a sense of transformation taking place. She was shedding the vulnerability of the previous day's conversation, and emerging as a stronger, more confident version of herself.'

As she finished getting ready, Kiara took a moment to collect her thoughts. She thought about the conversation she had with Dhvani, and the memories that had come flooding back. She thought about the pain and the heartache she had endured, and the way it had shaped her into the person she was today. Kiara's eyes narrowed slightly as she steeled herself for the day ahead. She was ready to face whatever challenges came her way, and she was determined to come out on top.

With a final glance in the mirror, Kiara took a deep breath and stepped out into the new day. The bright sunlight streaming through the window highlighted the determination in her eyes, and the confident stride in her step. Kiara felt a sense of empowerment wash over her as she walked out of her apartment, ready to take on the day with courage and confidence.

Just then, Kiara's phone rang with a notification, breaking the spell of her newfound confidence. She glanced down at the screen and saw that it was a message from Mrs. Rose, the manager of the "A" Cafe,

"Kiara and Dhvani, please reach on time, ASB might come anytime now," the message read.

Kiara took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves. She quickly sent a response to Mrs. Rose, confirming that she would be on time. Then, she turned to Dhvani, who was watching her with a curious expression. "We need to get going," Kiara said, her voice laced with a sense of urgency. "The owner is coming, and Mrs. Rose wants us to be there on time."

As they arrived at the Aurora Cafe, Dhvani pushed open the door and stepped inside, but Kiara hesitated, lingering on the sidewalk. She felt a strange sense of trepidation, as if something was off, but she couldn't quite put her finger on what it was. Dhvani, oblivious to Kiara's unease, disappeared into the cafe, leaving Kiara alone on the sidewalk.

Kiara stood there, her eyes fixed on the cafe's entrance, as she tried to shake off the weird feelings that were swirling inside her. She rubbed her chest, consoling herself, as if trying to calm a nervous heartbeat. Her mind was a jumble of thoughts, and she couldn't seem to quiet the voice that was whispering warnings in her ear.

As she stood there, Kiara felt a shiver run down her spine. She glanced around, wondering if anyone was watching her, but the street was empty. The cafe's windows seemed to stare back at her, like empty eyes, and Kiara felt a sudden urge to turn and run. But she didn't. She took a deep breath, steeling herself, and stepped inside the cafe, ready to face whatever lay ahead.

As Kiara stepped inside the cafe, she couldn't help but notice the sudden change in atmosphere. The staff seemed to be on edge, their movements becoming more deliberate and precise. The air was electric with anticipation, and Kiara's heart began to beat faster as she sensed that something was about to happen.

And then, without warning, the door to the cafe swung open and a tall, imposing figure stepped inside. He was dressed in a sleek black suit, his eyes hidden behind a pair of mirrored sunglasses. His presence was commanding, and the room seemed to shrink as he moved through it.

The staff parted like a wave, revealing a path to the back of the cafe. The figure moved with a confident stride, his eyes scanning the room as if taking in every detail.

..............

Kiara stood in the kitchen, her hands moving deftly as she expertly crafted a intricate design on top of a latte. She was lost in her own world, the hiss of the espresso machine and the gentle chatter of the staff in the background creating a soothing melody.

As she worked, Kiara's mind began to wander back to the strange feelings she had experienced earlier. She couldn't shake the sense that something was off, but she couldn't quite put her finger on what it was. She pushed the thoughts aside, focusing on the task at hand.

Just then, the kitchen door swung open and one of the waitstaff, Emma, burst in looking frazzled. "Kiara, Mrs. Rose needs you to get a tray of drinks ready for the office," she said, her voice low and urgent. "The owner is here and she wants everything to be perfect."

Kiara's heart skipped a beat as she heard the words "the owner". She felt a shiver run down her spine, but she didn't have time to process her emotions. She quickly got to work, expertly crafting a tray of drinks that would impress even the most discerning palate.

As she worked, Kiara couldn't help but wonder what the owner was like. She had heard rumors, of course, but she had never met him before. She was curious, but also a little intimidated. What would he be like? Would he be friendly and approachable, or distant and aloof?

Kiara's questions would have to wait, however. For now, she had a job to do. She carefully balanced the tray of drinks and pushed open the kitchen door, ready to face whatever lay ahead.

Kiara's feet seemed to move of their own accord as she walked towards the "boss", who stood with his back to her, engaged in a hushed conversation with Mrs. Rose. The soft hum of the cafe's atmosphere receded into the background as Kiara's senses narrowed in on the tall, imposing figure before her. She felt a shiver run down her spine as she wondered what he would be like. And then, just as she was about to reach him, disaster struck.

Eliza, a staff member who had always been jealous of Kiara's effortless charm and natural talent, deliberately stuck her foot out, causing Kiara to lose her balance. Kiara's arms flailed wildly as she tried to regain her equilibrium, but it was too late.

She felt herself falling, the floor rushing up to meet her with alarming speed. Her heart was racing, her mind screaming in horror as she realized she was about to kiss the floor in front of the entire cafe. The humiliation was too much to bear, and Kiara's face burned with shame as she waited for the inevitable impact.

But it never came. Just as Kiara was about to make contact with the ground, a strong arm reached out and caught her, wrapping around her waist like a vice. The arm pulled her back up to her feet, holding her upright as her legs trembled beneath her. Kiara's heart was still racing, her breath coming in short, sharp gasps as she looked up to see the "boss" standing before her, his eyes blazing with a fierce intensity.

The air seemed to vibrate with tension as Kiara's gaze met the boss's, their eyes locking in a silent, electrifying connection. The world around them melted away, leaving only the two of them, suspended in a sea of anticipation. Kiara's pulse pounded in her ears, her senses heightened as she took in the sight of the boss's chiseled features, his sharp jawline and piercing eyes that seemed to bore into her very soul.

And then, like a tidal wave crashing over her, Kiara felt her heart shatter into a million pieces, the fragments piercing her very soul like a thousand razor-sharp shards of glass. The air was sucked out of her lungs, leaving her gasping for breath as she whispered a single, devastating word: "Abhir." The name escaped her lips like a prayer, a plea to a god who had long since abandoned her, leaving her to pick up the pieces of a heart that had been irreparably broken.

But as soon as the word left her mouth, Kiara's eyes widened in horror. What was she doing? She hadn't spoken that name in months, hadn't dared to utter it out loud. And yet, here she was, standing in front of the one person she had sworn to forget. The memories came flooding back, like a tidal wave crashing over her. The pain, the heartache, the betrayal. It all came rushing back, and Kiara felt like she was drowning in it.

Her eyes locked on Abhir's, and for a moment, they just stared at each other. The air was thick with tension, heavy with the weight of their shared past. Kiara's heart was racing, her breath coming in short gasps. She felt like she was going to pass out, like the world was spinning around her and she was powerless to stop it.

And then, without a word, Abhir's face softened, his eyes flashing with a loving intensity that made Kiara's heart skip a beat. The air around them seemed to vibrate with tension as Abhir's gaze locked onto hers, his eyes burning with a fierce passion that seemed to sear her very soul. Kiara felt a shiver run down her spine as she realized that she was in grave danger. The man she had loved and lost was now standing in front of her, and he was not the same person she had once known.

Abhir's eyes seemed to bore into her very essence, as if searching for something that only she could provide. Kiara felt like she was drowning in their depths, suffocating under the weight of emotions that threatened to consume her whole. She tried to step back, to create some distance between them, but her feet seemed rooted to the spot. Abhir's gaze held her captive, refusing to let her go.

As the silence between them stretched out, Kiara felt her resolve begin to crumble. She had thought she was over him, that she had moved on with her life. But now, as she stood before him, she realized that she had been lying to herself. The wounds of the past still lingered, still throbbed with a painful intensity. And Abhir's presence had just ripped the scab right off.

The mysterious initials "ASB" that had been lingering in the back of Kiara's mind finally clicked into place. ASB stood for Abhir Sharma Birla, the man who had once held her heart in the palm of his hand. The realization sent a shiver down her spine as memories came flooding back, memories of laughter, tears, and heartbreak.

"Kiara, step away from him at once!" Mrs. Rose's voice was firm and authoritative, cutting through the tension-filled air like a knife. Her eyes flashed with a warning, and Kiara felt a shiver run down her spine as she hastily obeyed, taking a step back from Abhir's imposing form. The sudden movement broke the spell that had held her entranced, and Kiara's gaze dropped to the floor, her cheeks burning with embarrassment.

But as she turned, Kiara's eyes clashed with Eliza's, who was standing nearby, a smug look on her face. Kiara felt a surge of anger and resentment towards the other woman, who had clearly been enjoying the spectacle. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down, but her eyes never left Eliza's face.

Meanwhile, Abhir had turned to face Mrs. Rose, a look of calm, collected indifference on his face. "It's fine, Mrs. Rose," he said, his voice smooth as silk. "Kiara and I were just... reconnecting." The word hung in the air, heavy with implication, and Kiara felt her heart sink. What did he mean by that? And why did she feel like she was in so much trouble?

..........

As the evening drew to a close, Kiara settled in for her night shift, the cafe's warm glow enveloping her like a comforting blanket. She had always loved the quiet intimacy of the night shift, the way the world outside seemed to fade away, leaving only the soft hum of the cafe's machinery and the occasional hushed conversation.

But tonight, Kiara's nerves were on edge. She couldn't shake the memory of Abhir's piercing gaze, the way he had seemed to see right through her. And then there was the way he had looked at her, with a mixture of intensity and familiarity that had left her breathless.

As she busied herself with the night's tasks, Kiara's mind wandered back to Abhir, wondering what had brought him to the cafe, and what he wanted from her. She felt a shiver run down her spine at the thought of being alone in the cafe with him, but she pushed the feeling aside, telling herself she was being ridiculous.

After all, Abhir was the boss, and she was just an employee. It was unlikely that he would even stay in the cafe for long, let alone bother her. But as she glanced around the empty cafe, Kiara couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched, that Abhir's eyes were still on her, even when she couldn't see him.

As the kitchen's warm lights enveloped her, Kiara's hands moved on autopilot, her mind lost in thought. She was alone, the rest of the staff having left for the night, and the silence was a welcome respite from the chaos of the day. But as she reached for a utensil, the sound of the door opening and closing broke the stillness, making her heart skip a beat.

She turned around, her eyes scanning the dimly lit cafe, and that's when she saw him. Abhir stood just inside the doorway, his tall, imposing frame silhouetted against the darkness outside. For a moment, they just stared at each other, the air thick with tension, the only sound the quiet hum of the refrigerators.

Kiara's heart was racing, her mind reeling with questions. What was he doing here? Why had he come back? And why did he look at her with such an intense, burning gaze? She felt like she was drowning in those eyes, unable to look away, unable to breathe.

As Abhir's hands closed around Kiara's waist, a jolt of electricity ran through her entire body, leaving her breathless and bewildered. She felt like she was melting into his touch, her limbs turning to jelly as he lifted her off the ground with ease.

The world around her began to spin, a dizzying blur of colors and sounds that seemed to fade into the background as Abhir's face drew closer. His eyes burned with an inner fire, a fierce intensity that seemed to sear her very soul. Kiara felt like she was drowning in their depths, suffocating under the weight of his gaze.

And then, in one fluid motion, Abhir deposited her onto the kitchen counter, his hands lingering on her hips as he held her in place. The cold granite beneath her was a shock, a sudden jolt of reality that seemed to snap her back to attention. But as she looked up at Abhir, she felt her heart skip a beat. He was so close, his face inches from hers, his breath whispering against her skin. Kiara felt like she was trapped, caught in the snare of Abhir's gaze, unable to look away, unable to breathe. The air was thick with tension, the silence between them oppressive, heavy with unspoken words and unresolved emotions.

As Abhir's eyes locked onto hers, Kiara felt like she was being pulled under, sucked down into a vortex of emotions that she couldn't control. She was aware of every breath he took, every beat of his heart, every twitch of his muscles. It was as if they were connected, linked by some invisible thread that seemed to vibrate with tension. Kiara's heart was racing, her pulse pounding in her ears, as she waited for Abhir to make his next move. She was trapped, caught in a web of desire and deceit, with no escape in sight. And yet, as she looked into Abhir's eyes, she felt a spark of excitement, a thrill of anticipation that seemed to ignite a fire within her.

The sound of Abhir's voice was like a whispered promise, a husky tone that sent shivers down Kiara's spine. "Hey, Miss Poddar," he whispered, his breath dancing across her skin, leaving a trail of goosebumps in its wake. The way he said her name was like a caress, a gentle stroking of her senses that left her feeling weak and vulnerable.

As Kiara's gaze drifted upward, she was struck by the familiar sight of Abhir's curly hair, perfectly tousled and endearingly messy, just the way she had always loved it. The memories came flooding back, memories of laughter and tears, of whispered secrets and stolen glances. Kiara's heart skipped a beat as she felt herself being pulled back into the past, back to a time when life was simpler, and love was new.

And then, her eyes met Abhir's, and she was lost in the depths of his hazel brown gaze. His eyes still seemed to convey a message, a message that only she could decipher. It was a look that spoke of unfinished business, of unspoken words, and unresolved emotions. Kiara felt like she was drowning in that gaze, suffocating under the weight of Abhir's unspoken words.

As Abhir's thumb grazed the corner of Kiara's lips, a shiver ran down her spine, leaving a trail of goosebumps in its wake. The touch was gentle, almost reverent, yet it sent a spark of electricity through her entire body. Kiara's eyes fluttered closed, her lips parting slightly as she felt the warmth of Abhir's skin against hers.

As Abhir's warm breath danced across Kiara's lips, his whispered words sent a shiver down her spine. "I missed you!" The phrase was like a key that unlocked a deep well of emotions within Kiara, emotions she had thought were long buried.

Kiara's eyes fluttered open, her gaze locking onto Abhir's as she felt his lips brush against hers. The touch was fleeting, but it sent a spark of electricity through her entire body. She felt like she was melting into his kiss, her heart racing with excitement.

"I missed you too," Kiara whispered back, her voice barely audible over the pounding of her heart. The words hung in the air like a promise, a promise of secrets shared and memories rekindled. As Abhir's eyes locked onto hers, Kiara felt like she was drowning in their depths, suffocating under the weight of his gaze. {weak nhi padna hai is gadhe kee aage kiaraaa!"}

As Abhir's lips hovered inches from hers, Kiara's mind suddenly flashed back to the painful words he had spoken in the past. "Kiara, main tumse pyaar nhi karta! Main Charu se pyaar karta hun" (Kiara, I don't love you! I love Charu). The memory was like a slap in the face, a harsh reminder of the heartbreak he had caused her.

Kiara's eyes snapped open, her gaze locking onto Abhir's as she felt a wave of nausea wash over her. She was torn between the desire to kiss him and the painful memories of their past. The thought of Charu, her own sister, being the object of Abhir's affections made her feel like she was betraying her own flesh and blood.

Kiara's hands shoved against Abhir's chest, her eyes wide with a mix of emotions as she pushed him away. Without a word, she turned and ran, her feet pounding against the floor as she fled from the kitchen. Abhir's voice called out behind her, but Kiara didn't look back, didn't dare to.

She burst through the door of the washroom, slamming it shut behind her and leaning against it to catch her breath. Her heart was racing, her mind reeling with thoughts and emotions. She felt like she was going to be sick, like her world had been turned upside down.

Kiara's hands trembled as she locked the door, her eyes scanning the small space as if searching for an escape. But there was no escape, not from her feelings, not from the past. She was trapped, caught in a web of her own emotions.

With a sob, Kiara slid to the floor, her back against the door as she buried her face in her hands. She felt like she was shattering, like her heart was breaking all over again. The pain was overwhelming, suffocating her.

As Kiara slowly emerged from the washroom, her eyes red-rimmed from crying, she was met with a sight that made her heart skip a beat. Abhir was sitting on the floor, his back against the wall, his eyes fixed intently on the door. He looked like he had been waiting for her, like he had been waiting for hours.

Kiara's gaze locked onto Abhir's, her eyes searching for answers. Why was he still here? Why was he waiting for her? The questions swirled in her mind, but she couldn't bring herself to ask them. Instead, she just stood there, frozen in place, as Abhir's eyes bore into hers.

"Kiara, just once, listen to me, let me explain!" Abhir's voice was laced with desperation, his eyes pleading for her to hear him out. But Kiara's heart was still reeling from the pain of their past, and she wasn't ready to let him in. She felt a lump form in her throat as she struggled to hold back tears, her eyes stinging with unshed emotion.

Kiara's eyes flashed with anger and hurt as she gazed at Abhir, her voice barely above a whisper. "Explain?" she repeated, her tone dripping with skepticism. "What's there to explain, Abhir? You made your feelings clear a long time ago." She shook her head, her eyes welling up with tears that she fiercely blinked back.

Abhir's face contorted in a plea, his eyes begging her to listen. "Kiara, please..." he whispered, his voice cracking with emotion. "Just hear me out. I know I hurt you, but I was wrong, so wrong. I realize that now." He paused, taking a deep breath before continuing. "I was blinded by my own fears and doubts. I didn't know what I wanted, what I needed. But I know now. I know that I want you, Kiara. I need you."

Kiara's heart wrenched at Abhir's words, a part of her wanting to believe him, to trust him again. But the pain of the past still lingered, a raw and open wound that she couldn't ignore. She shook her head, her voice firm. "No, Abhir. I won't listen. I won't let you hurt me again." With that, she turned and walked away, leaving Abhir sitting alone on the floor, his eyes filled with a deep sadness and regret.
