Oh imagine a land, a faraway place, where you'd wander among, every culture and tongue. It's chaotic, but hey, it's home. When the winds from the East, and the sun from the West, even the sand seems glass now.
Come on up, stumble by, have a carpet and fly, to another New orleans night.
And well, that's what people say of New Orleans, a road that may lead you, to good or bad. And if you're really unlucky... even death.
And where do people lay dead other than cemeteries. That's where Madelyn found herself, playing with the soft maroon petals of a fallen rose upon her mother's grave. Who knew a place could hold such hate and such love at the same time.
Madelyn let out a silent scoff of protest at her mind's wander around stolen memories of her childhood, or what was supposed to be her childhood. Maturity took over quickly, childhood barely surviving.
She stood up, her black ruffled dress dancing on the dirt floor, her knees covered in dry mud. The woman shook the dirt away and began walking away, heading back to her chateaux. A beautiful luxurious house she owned.
Even the world seemed dead, the eventual birds chirping, a heard remind of the world spinning. Her eyes wandered around the trees, who seemed to start blooming under her eyes, screaming dry flowers who seemed to start living another life.
But if anybody could live again, why couldn't she?
Her black YSL heels broke the silence of her quiet place, walking in the place she called home, walking on the soft white wooden floor.
A quiet sigh left her perfect nude lips, as she walked up the two stairs of her living room, to her table, who held her trusted grimoires and herbs, a simbol of her nature. A witch.
Her tan skin radiating in the sun's rays through her window. Madelyh hummed speechlessly a turk phrase.
'Bana toprak attın, çiçekler açtı, ben olsam kızardım.'
(You threw dirt toward me and flowers bloomed, I'd be angry if I were you.)
It was no secret that she had Turkish genes, she loved the culture as much as she loved her Arabic tongue. Her mother was Turk, her father was Arab, Madelyn carried the genes proudly, despite her trauma with her family.
The smoken lavander and vanilla bean carried an ancient relaxing habit for her to look at her spells in the grimoires.
Though her eyes wandered to a picture on her window, a picture of her and Klaus.
Madelyn and Klaus had a tumultuous relationship that defied all logic. Despite its toxicity, there was an inexplicable chemistry between them that made it work in a strange way. Klaus' siblings couldn't comprehend this mysterious connection, and they often wondered what kept the two drawn to each other despite the roller coaster of emotions. Yet, like magnets, they couldn't stay away, no matter how hard they tried.
- THE COMPOUND, NEW ORLEANS
"I hate to say it, but you must find Madelyn again," Elijah spoke up, looking at the moping figure of his brother. "It would do you good." He added, ignoring the glare Klaus shot his way.
Klaus rolled his eyes at Elijah's suggestion, the mere idea was enough to make him bristle with irritation. "After what she put us through last time? They cursed us all to hell!" Klaus exclaimed, his annoyance evident in the narrowing of his eyes.
"Only you, brother. I believe she still care for this family." Klaus scowled, knowing Elijah was right.
"It makes me feel better that her bidding was stretched to the rest of the family." Elijah can only roll his eyes, as he wanders away from his brother's mood.
It had been the same for the past few years now, his mood usually drops whenever Madelyn is not around permanently. Klaus knows this, but his ego is too big to admit to it.
Klaus says he wants to murder the Petrova witch, get them out of his life forever, and yet he can't. He is met with her eyes, and he falls in love again. Because of that, he doesn't want to even consider killing them, he knows the feeling of love and he enjoys it because it's coming from her.
- THE CHATEAUX, NEW ORLEANS
So, here he was standing on the front steps of Madelyn's house, wrestling with his conflicting emotions. Part of him wants to do away with her, to end this toxic cycle once and for all. Yet, a deeper part of him holds onto the love he feels, the connection they share. It's frustrating, confusing, and as he stands there, after a moment of silent contemplation, he finally brings himself to knock on the door.
"Come on in," Madelyn's voice interrupte his thoughts from the other side, she thought it was Marcel.
Klaus stands there, hearing the words uttered from the other side of the door. He's half-tempted to barge in, to assert his presence and remind her of who he is. But instead, he composes himself, gripping the doorknob before slowly opening the door and stepping inside.
The sight of Madelyn, standing there, her back facing him immediately ignites a mix of emotions within him. Yet, he masks it all with a smirk, straddling confidence as he steps further into the room.
"Well, hello love," he drawls, his eyes roving over her.
The Petrova stops in her tracks of her witchy learning, turning around facing him.
"What are you doing here?" Her voice cuts through, it wasn't butterly sweet, more like precautionary with a side of softness.
"Can't I pay a visit to my favorite witch?" He teases with a small smirk.
"Considering you're a ball of trouble I find that hard to believe. So what do you need?" She narrows her eyes gently at him.
Klaus leans against the wall, folding his arms across his chest. "Do I need a reason to come see you, love? Can't I just simply miss your charming presence?"
He takes a few more steps closer, his smirk turning into a subtle grin. "Besides, I need your help with something."
A small sigh leaves her lips again, before waving a piece of hair out of her way, nodding with her head for him to continue. "Go on."
Klaus takes a step closer to her, his gaze intense as he speaks. "I need you to help me with something... delicate."
He pauses, his eyes flickering over her face. "It involves a spell, and I think you might be the only person who can help me with it."
His tone is almost casual, but there's an undercurrent of seriousness to his words, and his gaze never leaves her.
"Explain," She murmured, her interest piqued at his favor. Her back turning to face him again.
Klaus takes a deep breath, as if weighing his words, then begins. "There's a witch who needs to be dealt with."
His voice is low, his expression serious as he looks at Madelyn. "This witch has caused trouble for my family, and I need her... taken care of."
"Genevieve," Madelyn interrupted abruptly, as if guessing right away.
Klaus' eyebrows shots in surprise, his eyes roaming over her as she turned around facing him.
"How'd you guess?" He spoke softly.
"She has a habit of cursing people." She adds before stopping everything she was doing looking at him seriously with a plea of luck in her eyes. "Don't tell me she cursed you as well..."
Klaus sighs heavily, his expression darkening. "Unfortunately, she did."
He looks at her, his eyes filled with a mixture of pain and anger. "And not just me. She cursed my whole family."
"Awesome, what can I do to help?" She looks at him expectedly.
Klaus paces back and forth, his footsteps heavy on the floor. Despite his usual calm demeanor, he's clearly agitated and frustrated about the situation. "I've tried everything I could think of to break the curse, but nothing seems to work. It's like it's been woven too tightly into the very fabric of reality."
He pauses in front of her, his eyes intense as he looks at her. "That's where you come in."
"Fine, but I need all of us together, your spells might've not worked since Finn and Kol are daggered." She commands, already thinking of a solution.
"Why do you need us all here?" Klaus asks the most obvious question.
"How do you think spells work?" She shoots him a frowned face.
Klaus rolls his eyes, clearly annoyed by the rhetorical question. "You'd be a lot more likable if you weren't so sarcastic all the time, you know that?"
"True, except I wasn't being sarcastic." Madelyn adds freely as she looks around her table.
Klaus cocks an eyebrow at her response, a smirk playing on his lips. "Sure, because saying 'how do you think spells work?' totally wasn't meant to sound condescending."
"It was an understatement, you know that." She muttered amused.
Klaus scoffs, a hint of amusement in his eyes. "Of course you would think that."
He takes a step closer to her, a mocking smile on his face. "You always think you're smarter than everyone else, don't you?"
Instead of answering his question, the witch dodged it.
"Bring the wolf too." Her words implying Hayley's presence, the pregnant wolf, Klaus' doing.
"What do you need her for?" He frowns, his expression darkening.
"She carries your blood inside her, she's at the risk of getting the baby cursed, and I believe that's not what you'd wish for right now." She answered, as if Hayley's pregnancy didn't even bothered her, well it didn't in fact, but it was a weird feeling.
Klaus lets out a low grumble, his irritation with her growing. "You're really testing my patience, you know that?"
He steps closer to her, his gaze fixated on her, as he speaks in a low and mocking tone. "If I didn't need your help so badly, I'd gladly snap your neck right now just to wipe that smirk off your face ."
Madelyn turned and faced him, "Then you'd regret almost killing your ex girlfriend and live with that sin for a very long time untill it'll haunt you even, and I tend to believe that's not what you want anytime soon." Her voice bitter and speaking facts in his face.
Klaus's gaze softens, his expression changing as her words sink in. The mention of their past relationship hits him unexpectedly, bringing up memories he has tried to bury deep within his heart.
He takes a step back, his usual bravado faltering for a moment. "Don't bring up the past," he says gruffly, his voice quieter than before.
"If I was so cruel as you insist, I wouldn't protect your baby mama from this whole mess, don't make me the villain." She walked a few steps away.
He remains silent, letting her words sink in with facts.
He focused on her words so much he didn't even see her mouthing a spell to bring the other Mikaelsons there. Not untill his head started hurting and he winced in pain.
Madelyn looks at him and steps next to him, "It's just me, you're okay." She stops his pain gently.
Klaus's pain subsided with her reassurance, but he still looked at her with a mixture of annoyance and curiosity. "Care to explain what that was?" he asked gruffly.
He let her get closer to him, his tension easing slightly. It was strange how her presence could both irritate and comfort him at the same time.
"Just bringing them here, you're fine." She reassured licking her lips before flipping through a grimoire's pages.
Klaus's expression softens slightly at her explanation, his irritation fading slightly. "Fine, fair point," he grumbles, running a hand through his hair.
He lets out a sigh, his gaze shifting away from her. "But if this spell is going to require all of us to be here, how will we... How are we going to convince Finn to cooperate?"
"I don't care how much he'll try avoid coming here, if he doesn't come here willingly I'll gladly make him come here painly." She spoke seriously, her no-nonsense self perking up.
Klaus's lips curved into a smirk at her words. "You know, I'm starting to like your ruthless side," he says with a glint in his eye.
He leans against the wall again, folding his arms across his chest. "But I have to admit, Finn can be a stubborn pain in the ass. Convincing him to cooperate won't be easy."
"He'll be here." The witch replied smugly.
Klaus quirks an eyebrow at her confident assertion. "And how can you be so sure?" he asks, his tone a mixture of skepticism and curiosity.
He studies her for a moment, his gaze flickering over her face. "You seem awfully confident for someone who hasn't dealt with Finn's mule-headedness before."
"True, but I dealt with him in Vincent's body, he was still a maniac." She shrugged innocently.
Klaus lets out a snort of laughter at her words. "Ah, yes. Vincent as Finn. That was an interesting experience."
He shakes his head, amused. "But trust me, dealing with Finn in his own body is a whole different ball game. He's stubborn, arrogant, and has a knack for making things difficult for absolutely no reason."
She humms in a 'we're gonna see about that' manner as she heard the front door, signaling Rebekah, Elijah and Hayley's arrival.
The Mikaelsons were all familiar with Madelyn, as she lived and spent time worth of two years with them, her being the youngest, only 18 when they met, now 23.
Hayley, on the other hand, only heard stories about her, but she could see her strong and settled soft self, and that brought her relief.
"I assume we're here because of Genevieve's curse, correct?" Elijah questioned with a raised eyebrow.
Madelyn and Klaus nodded at the same time, settling the question down.
"Close the door, wolfie." Madelyn pointed at Hayley then at the door with her cherry red nails.
As on cue, breaking the silence, Kol, in his usual carefree manner walked in before Hayley even closed the door, stopping it with his bicep before he walked in with a smug smirk. His eyes settled on his favorite witch, Madelyn. Despite everything she and his other siblings went through, he never stopped caring and talking to her, and vice versa.
"If it isn't the princess herself," Kol grinned as he stepped further into the room headed towards Madelyn.
"If it isn't the willy fox. Hi, Kol." Madelyn lips tugged a small soft smile as Kol's arms wrapped around her, so did hers. Wrapped in a small platonic hug.
"Missed me so bad?" She teased him smugly.
"Who wouldn't?" He answered ruffling her hair before stepping next to her.
As they all started talking among themselves, only Madelyn, whose back was facing Rebekah and Hayley stood silent flipping through her spells, before her voice cut through.
"Stop frowning, you're upsetting the baby." She muttered seriously talking to Hayley.
Elijah remains stoic, but a hint of a smirk plays at the corner of his lips. He knows Madelyn has a knack for sensing things that others miss, and her comment about Hayley's frown is just another example of it.
"Call Finn, and tell him if he doesn't show up in the next three minutes I'm sending him on fire untill he shows up." Madelyn comments to Kol, who started following her words.
As five minutes passed, right when she wanted to unwillingly bring Finn here, he luckily showed up, with company, turns out.
"Late," Madelyn sternly said, as she looked at who came along, Marcel. The Mikaelsons' good friend, and who she has gotten close with after her breakup with Klaus.
"So, I got some bad news..." Marcel glares at Madelyn apologetically.
She closed her eyes for a moment, letting the words sink in before sighing and nodding for him to continue as she took a sip of her coffee.
"Lucien, Tristan and Aurora are back." Was all she needed to hear as the coffee almost left her mouth, but it didn't luckly.
Madelyn swallowed and asked with a frown at the mention of her ex, Lucien. And at Klaus' ex, Aurora De Martel. "Excuse me? What?" She questioned again, hoping it was some sick joke.
"There's nothing I could to, I tried avoiding their arrival but they seemed to be inpatient and came quicker than I expected." Marcel looked at the girl he could so easily call his little sister.
"Here we go again..." Madelyn mumbled with a slight annoyed bitterness.
And as she thought, indeed, hell arrived quicker.
