THE DRIFT OF JEON BROTHERS

AUTHOR'S POV

Jungkook stormed into the office with a loud thud, informing the angry CEO's arrival. He shrugged off his coat, letting it fly across the lavish office room, and unbuttoned a few buttons of his shirt, massaging his head to relax his nerves.

He pulled out the antidepressants to calm his nerves, which were fuming with anger caused by the one person he loved. With all his heart, she betrayed him in the worst way possible.

He still remembered the smiles they shared, the way his heart skipped a beat when they held hands. It was all magical, all beautiful, but all beautiful things are destined to be broken, all beautiful things are destined to be ruined.

"Still thinking about her?" The man who called himself the assistant of the dominating CEO Taehyung said, while handing him a glass of whiskey with crystal ice. Jungkook took it and sipped it, his plump lips touching the glass.

"There is nothing to think about her, Kim. There is only remorse and pain," he said, his eyes red with anger and veins popping out of his neck.

"But you have to forget about it. You can't keep it with you forever, Mr. Jeon," the man said, taking the glass from his hands.

"But why am I suffering for it? Why do I get the hate that I don't even deserve? All I did was love and—" Jungkook, the man in the black shirt with slick black hair, said, throwing the star paperweight across the room, shattering a vase.

"Why does he think it was my mistake? I was naive and blinded by love. I know  Jeongguk told me she was not good for me, but he never told me she was the real problem. He was always like that, always less emotional, a pathetic jerk who always tries to get sympathy," he ruffled his hair back and leaned back in his chair, his eyes red, having opened two more buttons due to the pills, feeling heat all over his body.

"But he was there for you, Mr. Jeon, always. He always supported yo—" Taehyung got interrupted by his boss's growl.

"Support, you say? Support! All he did was for his profit. He told father that he could take the mafia position to protect me, but you know what? All he wanted was authority and command over the money that the Jeon Empire has. And guess what? He got it. He got it in the name of brotherly love, in the name of trust," he laughed sarcastically, showing the pain in his heart. "I believed him, always. I believed all his words blindly, handled the market business so that he wouldn't be in trouble. I agreed to all his demands," he muttered under his breath, remembering the happy boy with a golden heart who loved everyone and was loved by everyone. But in return, he received hate for the love he gave to a girl who came into his life with colors, but in a blink of an eye, it was gone when he found out.

His love, Kang Mi Rae, a girl with a bright smile and beautiful curls, with chubby cheeks that enchanted him, made him more attracted to her. They always bunked classes at their college to hang out with each other, but he didn't know that the hangouts she was there for were to gather secrets that the Jeon Empire hid from everyone.

Kang Mi Rae, a good little spy, sent all the information on shares deals and shipments to the rivals so that Jeon would drown in losses, and it happened when Jungkook was 21, a naive, charming boy who loved everyone, especially his brother, whom he thought loved him back. But he was wrong. He thought his brother was there for him, but his thinking was wrong. His brother, Jeongguk blamed him for something he didn't know, trapped in love. He didn't know that love could give him pain that would dissolve all his emotions. He could still remember the line Jeongguk said.

"You are the reason for how we are. You were so fucking idiotic, blinded by love, and didn't listen to me."

He slammed his fist on the table, making a sound echo in the room. Taehyung, who was looking at his boss, flinched, grateful it wasn't him being slammed on the table, but feeling sorry for his boss who was hurt.

The atmosphere in the room was palpably thick with tension. Suddenly, there was a loud crash as the door burst open, causing a figure to stumble and fall to the floor in a comical manner. Taehyung couldn't help but snicker at the scene, but his amusement was quickly extinguished by a glare from his boss.

The fallen figure scrambled to her feet, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment as she hastily tried to regain her composure. Jungkook regarded her with his stoic expression, his dark gaze piercing as he ordered Taehyung to leave the room.

"Were you eavesdropping on our conversation like a sneaky cat?" Jungkook's deep voice reverberated through the room, sending a shiver down her spine.

"N-no, Mr. Jeon, my leg got tripped, that's why I fell," she stammered, her eyes wide with fear as she desperately tried to explain herself.

"Hmm, how can I believe you? I don't have trust in you, Ms. Wang," Jungkook raised an eyebrow skeptically as he advanced towards her.

"No, Mr. Jeon, please, I'm sorry," she pleaded, her voice trembling with apprehension as she instinctively began to back away.

As she retreated slowly, Jungkook's steps were quick and purposeful, closing the distance between them until he was standing directly in front of her. With a sudden movement, she found herself falling backward, her heart racing as she braced herself for impact.

But before she could hit the ground, two strong arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her back and holding her securely against a solid chest. In that moment, she felt a strange mixture of panic and comfort, her heart fluttering wildly as she looked up into Jungkook's impassive face.

"If you're going to be this clumsy, how will you manage to do any work here?" his voice was sharp and cutting, snapping her out of her reverie as he harshly pulled her upright.

She stumbled, fumbling to grab hold of her file as Jungkook strode over to the window, his gaze fixed on the cityscape below.

"If you stand there for one more second, consider yourself fired," he declared, his tone leaving no room for argument as she scrambled to collect herself and resume her duties.

As she hurriedly gathered her belongings, she couldn't shake the feeling of his intense gaze burning into her, leaving her both unsettled and strangely exhilarated. This was going to be a lot more challenging than she had anticipated.

WANG JANGFEI POV

What the hell was that all about? Why does he have to be so intimidating and domineering all the time? I let out a frustrated sigh as I checked over his schedule once more. It seemed like I was destined to face him again, to once again subject myself to his commanding presence.

But could someone like him really be in love with a girl? I found it hard to believe. A man like Jungkook seemed incapable of love, or perhaps I was just making assumptions based on his demeanor.

Regardless, something had clearly put him in a foul mood, likely a fight with his brother. The tension between them had been palpable, and it seemed to have affected Jungkook deeply. Whatever the reason, I knew I should probably steer clear of him for the time being.

As I gathered my thoughts and prepared to face him once more, I couldn't help but feel a sense of trepidation. Dealing with Jungkook was always a challenge, his presence looming over me like a dark cloud. But I had a job to do, and I couldn't let his intimidating aura shake me. It was time to face the music once again.

The day seemed to drag on endlessly as I dealt with one task after another, all under the watchful eye of Jungkook. His demands were relentless, his commands uncompromising. With each passing hour, I grew more irritated by his antics, more exhausted by the weight of his expectations.

"Ms. Wang, I need those reports on my desk by 3 pm," he barked from across the room, his voice cutting through the air like a knife. I gritted my teeth in frustration, silently cursing his insatiable appetite for perfection.

"Yes, Mr. Jeon," I muttered under my breath, resisting the urge to roll my eyes as I scurried to complete yet another task.

By the time evening rolled around, I was ready to collapse from exhaustion. My eyes drooped with fatigue as I trudged back to my desk, the weight of the day heavy on my shoulders. With a defeated sigh, I slumped into my chair, the desire for rest overwhelming.

But just as I began to drift off into a restless sleep, a knock on my desk jolted me awake. Startled, I blinked away the drowsiness and glanced up to find Taehyung standing before me, a sympathetic look in his eyes.

"Long day, huh?" he remarked with a knowing smile.

I nodded wearily, too tired to form words. The events of the day had taken their toll on me, leaving me drained and depleted.

"Here, let me walk you out," Taehyung offered, extending a hand to help me up from my chair. Gratefully, I accepted his assistance, leaning on him for support as we made our way out of the office.

As I stepped out into the cool evening air, a sense of relief washed over me. The weight of the day began to lift, replaced by a newfound sense of freedom.

But as I reached my apartment and prepared to finally succumb to sleep, my phone pinged with a new message. I groaned in frustration as I glanced at the screen, my heart sinking at the sight of Jungkook's name.

"Be ready at 7. We have to attend a meeting early in the morning," the message read, his words a stark reminder of the relentless demands of my job.

With a heavy sigh, I replied with a simple "I will, Mr. Jeon," before tossing my phone aside and collapsing onto my bed. Sleep would have to wait, it seemed, as another long day awaited me tomorrow.
