Season One : Episode Seven, Full Moon (Creepy AF).
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
March, 2018
"4.5 billion years ago, an astral body the size of Mars slammed into the Earth. The debris that flew from our planet became stuck in Earth's gravity and formed our moon."
"That's right, the moon is just a part of the Earth, separated forever, always drawn back towards
us, longing to reconnect. It is said to increase
fertility, create chaos and cause people to do
things they would never normally do."
"No one knows why things get so weird when the moon is full, why it makes people act so crazy. All I know is that on this job, the one night you need
to be ready for anything is a night when the moon is full."
It's the night before and the full moon is upon us, and for some people they say that's usually when things weirdly tend to happen. Such as a call at the L.A county fair about a child being stuck in a machine.
On his first day back on the job, Buck took on the call but with the help of Becca. They arrived at the scene and walking through the crowd of people.
"All right, folks, coming through." Buck announced
"Excuse us, please thank you." Becca Said, as they arrived at the crane machine.
"Hi." The little girl spoke, smiling.
"Hi." He smiled and gasped, "What you doing there?
I'm gonna have to take you out if that's okay with you." The little girl nods to him, "All right. You'll be fine." Buck Said
He nods to Becca who smiles and makes silly faces at the young girl, who giggled at her. While she was busy distracting the girl Buck took out a power drill, to unscrew the bolts on the machine.
Buck managed to get the door open, and waved to the girl. "Hi. Are you ready?"
"Yeah." She Said
"Yeah?" He opened his arms, as he picked her up, "Watch your head. Oh, I got you. I got you." Buck Said
The crowd started applauding him, then he handed her over to her mother.
"Thank you. I can't believe they didn't have a key for this." She Said
"Don't worry. It's, uh, it's one of those nights." Buck Said
"And here." She reached inside the machine grabbing a stuffed animal, "Congratulations
on your moo-moo." Becca smiled, giving the girl the toy cow.
"Thank you." The little girl said
"Your welcome." Becca Replied
"Thanks again." The mother said
Buck and Becca both nodded and a few moments later, after finishing their call they are walking down the boardwalk back to the fire engine.
"First day back was a success don't ya think Becks." Buck Said
"Sure if you call rescuing a child from a crane machine a success so be it." Becca Said
"Oh I should probably call Abby, haven't spoken to her all day." Buck Said, taking his phone out.
"You guys are so adorable." Becca playfully teased
"Oh please you were just talking to Vince." Buck Said
"Yeah like an hour ago." Becca retorted
"How is that going by the way with Vince?" Buck Asked
"Things are going very good." Becca Said, slightly blushing.
"Yeah I could tell your blushing." Buck Said, pointing to her cheeks as she slapped his hand away.
"I can't help it the guy makes me blush." Becca simply said, shrugging her shoulders.
"Well isn't that adorable." Buck teased, as Becca rolled her eyes.
Becca playfully shoved him as he laughed at her.
"You're such a dork." Becca Said
"I am but what are you," Becca shot him a look, "Okay so you read for the full moon?" Buck Said
"Yes because it's going to be normal day like it always is." Becca Replied
"Becca it's science and statistically things tend to happen on the full moon." Buck Said, as Becca raises a brow at him.
"So basically you think just because the moon which is full, only once a month..is the only day strange things happen?" Becca Questioned
"Well..yeah." Buck simply said
"Pfft Oh Evan, you're such a dork." Becca laughed, walking off.
"Hey, don't ever question the moon okay you'll see." Buck Said, following behind her.
Later on that night after her shift ended, Becca made it back home in time to spend some time with the kids, and catch up with Violet on the phone.
Soon dinner came around and she thought it was a good idea to invite Vince over, which he gladly accepted the invitation. Vince sat at the end of the table, as Becca sat at the head while the kids went on about their days.
"And what else happened Dylan?" Vince Asked, intrigued.
"So my friend Randy said I couldn't make it all the way down on the monkey bars, but I showed him up by making it all the way to the end." Dylan Said
"Wow look at you." Vince smiled
"Proud of you bud." Becca Said, lightly pinching his cheek.
"I'm surprised you never make it all the way to the end of the monkey bars." Aryana Said
"I know right." Dylan Said
"Tell them what happened after." Bryan Said, chuckling.
"Oh Randy got up on the monkey bars, as he tried to make it all the way end instead he fell off and went face first into a puddle of mud." Dylan told, as Bryan and Aryana laughed.
"Ouch that must've hurt." Vince Said
"It did he cried like a baby and ran off back inside the building." Bryan laughed
"That's what he gets for being a show off." Aryana Said
"Very typical of my kids to laugh at someone who's embarrassed." Becca shook her head, trying not laugh.
"It's okay mom he deserved it so it's okay." Aryana pointed out
"And why is that?" Becca Questioned
"Because Randy's the jerk around the school, he usually picks on people." Bryan Said
"And he got his." Dylan Said, high fiving his brother.
"Well I guess he did." Vince Said, as Becca smirked at him.
After dinner was over the kids were in the living room watching their favorite show, while Becca and Vince were in the kitchen. As he was helping her with the dishes.
"Those three are something." Vince spoke up
"Yeah they really are, but I love them." Becca Said
"I like 'em to." Vince Said, as Becca looked up at him.
"You do?" Becca Said
"Yeah, with Bryan's sarcastic jokes, Aryana's sassiness and Dylan's adorableness I enjoy being around them, especially you." Vince Said, then kisses her cheek.
"Thank you." Becca Said
"So what's the plans for tomorrow?" Vince Asked
"Well since tomorrow's Friday and I have to work, but the kids all have sleepovers tomorrow night at their friends houses." Becca Said, placing the plates on the dryer rack.
"Which means you're free after." Vince Said, placing his hands on her hips, turning her to face him.
"Yes it does." Becca Said
"Alright then my place after work, I'll cook for us and I'll bring out my favorite wine which I think you'll enjoy." Vince Said
"My taste buds will be the judge of that." Becca smiled
"So is it a date?" Vince Asked
"It's a date." Becca Said
She leaned in and placed a soft kiss on his lips, Vince placed his hand on Becca's cheek and kissed her back.

The next day at work a bunch of calls came in throughout the day, towards the after noon a call came in about a pregnant woman at a yoga studio.
Bobby took Buck and Becca along with him on this, they soon arrived at the place. They exited the fire engine, as Becca got the emergency bag and Buck got the backboard off the truck.
"It's a fact. Gravity is heavier during full moons,
scientists have proven it." Buck pointed out
"You read this in a peer-reviewed, scientific publication?" Becca Questioned
"Uh, I don't know, is the Internet considered
a "scientific publication"?" Buck Said
"Buck, the idea that the moon causes odd behavior
and happenings goes back to the first century. It's folklore, magical thinking." Bobby Said
The three of them entered the building and hopped on the elevator, soon the door opened on the floor and they were met by the yoga instructor.
"Hey. She's this way Jackie's six months pregnant she's new. This class is only open to moms who are at least 26 weeks. I warn them about overexerting themselves." The instructor explained
The instructor opened the door which was a room filled with pregnant women, in the middle of the room there was Jackie stuck in a pose with her leg risen.
"And behold, the Salabhasana." She Said
"Yeah, Locust Pose." Becca and Bobby looked to him incredulously, "I've dated, like, 50 yoga instructors." Buck simply said
Bobby and Becca shook their heads at him then all walked over to Jackie.
"Can you guys please clear out so we can get in there." Bobby Said
"Ladies, back to your mats." The instructor told
"I'll take it." Becca Said
She sat her bag down then took out her stethoscope, putting down near Jackie's abdomen to hear the fetal heartbeat.
"I can't move." She groaned out, "Everything hurts..the baby, is he okay?" Jackie Asked
"Okay, we're gonna check your baby right now." Becca Said
"Jackie I'm gonna touch you right here on your stomach, okay?" Bobby Asked
"Ooh." Jackie winced
"Okay. There's no trauma to the abdomen." Bobby Said
"Vitals seem normal, fetal heartbeat's normal." Becca Informed
"Okay, good." Bobby Said
"Is the baby okay?" Jackie Asked
"Your baby is fine." Becca replied
"Oh, he's not mine, I'm a surrogate." Jackie Said
Bobby, Becca and Buck soon put on rubber gloves.
"Listen, can you tell me where you're feeling your pain? Is it localized in your back, your arms, your legs?" Bobby Asked
"Arms and legs, but it's-it's the worst in my butt
and down my thigh and calf." Jackie groaned out
"Okay, I think you slipped a disc. We're gonna need to get her on her side, okay?" Bobby Said
"Okay." Becca and Buck Said
"Very carefully support her head." Bobby Said, as they all carefully placed Jackie down on the backboard.
"All right, got it, Bobby." Buck Said
"Let's go this way towards you guys, very gently." Bobby instructed
All of sudden screaming can be heard as the three of them looked, as another woman who's pregnant bends over clutching at her belly groaning out in pain.
"Okay...All right, I'm gonna take care of that, you and Becca take care of this." Bobby Said
"We got it. Go, go, go." Becca Said
Bobby approached the woman and kneeled down in front of her.
"What seems the to be the problem here?" He Asked
"I think I'm having contractions." She replied
"How far along are you?" Bobby Asked
"38 weeks." She Said
"38 weeks. Okay. All right, just keep breathing with your contractions. Nice and easy, all right? What's your name?" Bobby Said
"Beth."
"Okay, I need a cup of water for Beth." Bobby Said
"Am I in labor?" Beth Asked
"I think it's Braxton Hicks, it's a soft labor." Bobby Said, the instructor handed him a bottle of water.
"What does that mean?" Beth Questioned
"That means your contractions are gonna go away
once we get you nice and relaxed and hydrated, okay?" Bobby calmly said
He handed the bottled water over to Beth, who took a few sips.
"Okay. Mm-hmm, just take a drink." Bobby Said
Across the room a woman looked down as her pants were soaked and the floor was soaked as well.
"Oh, my God. My water broke." She called out
"Guys?" Bobby warned
"Yeah, I'm on it." He leaned closer to her radio,
"Uh, Dispatch, requesting additional paramedics
to 232 Hope, possible spinal disc herniation.
Need transport to hospital immediately." Buck Said
"It's coming. It's coming now." She Said, as she took off her pants.
"Buck you got this?" Becca Asked
"Yeah, go handle that." Buck nodded
Becca approached the woman as she was panting and wincing.
"Yeah, you only just started contractions, it's okay." Becca Said
"No, this is my fourth kid. It's coming." She Said
"Uh, okay, I need towels! I need towels!" Becca Said
A woman nearby immediately picked up three towels, and handed them over to Becca she nodded and looked back at the woman in front of her.
"So what's your name?" Becca Asked
"Angela." She Said
"Okay Angela, my name's Becca." She smiled
"Have you ever done this before?" Angela Asked
"Yeah actually I've helped deliver six babies on the job before." Becca replied
"I've helped delivered babies as well, I'm a doula." Angela told
"That's really cool I'm sure we'll get through this together fine, plus I'm no stranger when it comes to birth speaking from experience." Becca Said
"You have kids as well." Angela Said
"Mhm I have three kids." Becca nodded, then smiled.
"You've got three, but you look so young." Angela Said, raising a brow.
"Yeah I get that a lot," Angela groans out again, "Okay Angels your contractions are a minute apart, alright it's time to start pushing." Becca Said
"Let's do this." Angela Said
Angela nodded and Becca started to inform her on when to start pushing, when all of a sudden a loud groan is heard. She looked across the room, as another pregnant woman clutched at her belly.
"Oh, no, no, not now." She Said, shaking her head.
"Seriously? I'm not... Bob, Becks I've never done this before." Buck Said, frantically.
"It's okay. I will talk you through it." Bobby Said
"They say when a full moon's halfway between
the eastern horizon and its highest point, it can induce labor." The instructor said
All three woman let out loud groans, as the instructor looked around.
"I knew I should have canceled this class." She mumbled
"Just saying, I did tell you guys." Buck pointed out
"Okay, we can discuss the moon later, Buck." Becca Said
"If you're not in labor right now, could you please
go out in the hallway and give us some space, thank you." Bobby Said
The Instructor escorted all the women out the room, while Becca was still helping Angels give birth. The woman screamed out some more, breathing heavily.
"I see a head, that's it Angela keep pushing." Becca Said, as Angels nodded then pushed again.
Bobby spoke into his radio, "I have two, possibly three women in labor membranes have ruptured. Labor is progressing rapidly. I need a couple of extra transports to the hospital. Okay, Beth, I need you to push, okay?"
"I want my epidural!" Beth shouted, while giving a big push.
"Hey, Beth, you're doing great." He informed then looked back under the towel, "Okay, the baby's crowning. Buck, I need a towel." Bobby Said
"Coming. Got it." Buck Said, running over with two more towels.
Over by Becca and Angela, the older woman is still pushing as she looked under the towel.
"Okay, okay, Angela, I just need one last big push." Becca Said
Angela screamed out while giving a big push, then the sound of a baby crying is heard. Becca gently lifted the baby, as Angela let out a sigh of relief.
"Congratulations Angela, you have a beautiful baby boy." Becca Said
Angela smiled as Becca carefully cut the umbilical cord, wrapping the newborn up in a towel handing him off to his mother.
"There's your baby." Becca Said
"Thank you, thank you so much." Angela Said
"Of course no problem, welcome to the world number seven." Becca Said, as she and Angela chuckled.
Soon more paramedics entered the room with gurneys, Bobby waved his hand.
"Guys, come on in." Bobby Said
The group of first responders went around the room to each help the two women who just gave birth, and to help Jackie get safely on the gurney as well.
"So have you figured out a name for him?" Becca Asked
"Well, I'm Buck, and that's Bobby, just in case you want to name him after us. You know, in our honor or something." He Said
"No, I don't think so." She Said, as both the firemen chuckled.
"How about the name Leo, he kinda looks like a Leo." Becca suggested
Angela then looked down at her son, and nodded smiling.
"Leo, I like that name, thanks again Becca." Angela Said
"Anytime." Becca Said
She stood to her feet then followed behind Bobby and Buck as they helped gurney out another pregnant woman.
"You guys still think this full moon stuff is a myth?" Buck Retorted
"Yes, and we still think you're an idiot." Becca remarked, then winked at the boy.
"St. Matthews, contact OB surgical on call, we've got an emergency C-section coming in, four minutes out." Bobby spoke into his radio, as they all exited the room.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
A couple hours later another call got called in, this time it was taken by the trio of Bobby, Buck and Becca. They entered the apartment complex of the patient, hearing someone banging on a door.
"Connor? Connor, open the door, let me in." His boyfriend said
"Absolutely not. Go away." Connor Said
"Damn it, Connor. Let me in." He Said
"Go away." Connor shouted
The three firefighters turned a corner then entered the back room, where the boyfriend is standing near the door.
"Oh. Thank God. Connor? 911's here, open the door now." He Said
"All right, step aside, sir. Connor? Los Angeles fire Department. We can't help you if you don't open the door." Bobby Said
Connor is heard whimpering from the other side, Becca and Buck furrowed their brows.
"What's wrong with him?" Becca Asked
"He thinks something is inside him, pretty sure it's just gas." He Said
"Who are you?" Buck Asked
"I'm his boyfriend, Paul." He Said
"Connor, I don't want to have to break this door down." Bobby Said
The door soon unlocked and Connor opened the door, soon the three firefighters spoke with Connor who was whimpering in pain.
"Can you tell me what you're feeling?" Bobby Asked
"Something's happening it's, like, the...like, the worst
cramping pressure feeling that I've ever experienced, it's like I'm gonna give birth or something." Connor explained
"Oh, stop it. We had sushi tonight. He always orders the omakase, but he can't handle anyone telling him what to do, so he orders more..you just have an upset stomach." Paul Said
"If you tell me I just have a stomachache one more time, I'm gonna stab you with your toothbrush." He snapped at him, "I swear, I felt it moving, okay? I felt something moving." Connor Said
"How long have you been having the cramps?" Becca Asked
"Uh, about a week. Yeah, I made a doctor's appointment for Friday." Connor informed
"Any other symptoms?" Becca Asked
"No." Connor Said
"Oh, he's been having a lot of gas." Paul piped up
"Shut up!" Connor Said
"What you have. I mean, i-it kind of builds like an overture, and then there's a nice little tuba solo.
It's a tremendous amount of horrible flatulence." Paul told
"Paul." Connor exasperated
"Okay, just lean back, let me have a look." Bobby Said
"Okay." Connor Said
He leaned back as Bobby gently rubbed his fingers along his abdomen area. While Becca pulled out her stethoscope listening for his heartbeat and breathing.
"Do you guys eat a lot of sushi?" Buck Asked
"He does...about four or five times a week." Paul Said
"I try to go carb-and fat-free as often as possible." Connor Said
"Ah, same here. You guys ever try the brown rice pasta? You know, it's not that bad." Buck Said
"You know, it's a little gummy for my taste." Connor simply said
"I see that." Buck nodded
"Yeah. Hey, what's your body fat percentage?" Connor Asked, intrigued.
"I swing between, like, 50..." Buck Said
"Okay, can we finish the most interesting
conversation of all time later?" She interrupted, looking over at Buck. "Vitals are stable, breathing isn't shallow." Becca Said
"Okay. Does this hurt? Does that feel tender?" Bobby Asked, slightly pressing along Connor's abdomen.
"No." Connor shook his head
"What about your bowel movements? Any diarrhea?" Bobby Asked
"No." Connor Said
"Yes. Why would you lie to him about that?
He's trying to help you." Paul Said
"Okay. Sorry. Yes." Connor admitted
"He has poop shame." Paul Said, as Connor starts grunting again.
"Okay. Just take a deep breath, okay? Relax." Bobby insisted
Connor does as followed but he groans out again, shaking his head. "Oh, my God! No, no, no! I'm gonna burst! I'm gonna explode!"
"Let's get him in the ambulance right now." Bobby Said
Connor screamed out again as Bobby and Buck helped him to his feet, moments later the three of them are in the back of the ambulance with Connor laying on a gurney with Paul near his side.
"God, just make it stop! Drive faster. I feel
like I'm gonna explode all over the place." Connor Said
"All right, Connor, you're doing great. We're almost to the hospital, they're gonna do a scan, figure out exactly what's going on." Bobby Said
"Th-There's something under my leg." Connor Said
"It's just the IV tube, all right? It's underneath you." Becca Stated
"No, no, no, it's moving. There's something moving under my leg." Connor Said, shaking his leg.
"All right, let's turn him and check it out." Bobby Said
He and Buck both carefully turned Connor on his other side, as he lifted his leg their eyes widen once they saw what it was.
"Oh!" Bobby Said
"My god." Becca Said
"What the hell is that?" Paul Asked
"That's a tapeworm." Buck simply said
"Tapeworm? I have a tapeworm?!" Connor panicked
"Wait, it's coming out of his...Oh, I'm gonna be sick." Paul Said, trying not gag.
"Oh, get it out. Get it out!" Connor Said
"Oh, I can see the mouth." Becca Said
"I mean, we can pull it out." Buck Said
"No. No, no, absolutely not. We're almost to the hospital they're gonna remove that with the proper instruments, put him on some albendazole, and then we call it a night." Bobby Said
"No, please, no. I can't take those drugs. They're toxic once they put me on Flagyl for diverticulitis once, and it gave me severe heartburn and turned my pee burnt sienna." Connor Said
The three of them looked to Connor with incredulously looks.
"I'm sorry, burnt sienna?" Buck Said
"It was brown! Okay? It was dark brown. Now, just please, I am begging you, get it out!" Connor Said
"It's all you, Buck." Bobby Said
"You got this Evan." Becca Said, patting his shoulder.
"Really? So you guys have no problem delivering a baby, but this creeps you out?" Buck Questioned
"Seniority has its advantages." Bobby Said
"Plus I don't do tapeworms they freak me out, sorry Connor." Becca Said
"Just get it out..." Connor groaned out
"Okay." Buck Said, as he started gently tugging on the worm.
"What are you waiting for? Get it out." Bobby Said
"I have to be careful, all right? If it breaks, it'll crawl
back inside and regenerate." Buck informed
"Oh..." Bobby and Becca both grimaced
"I'm definitely gonna puke, I knew you didn't go from a 34 to a 31 waist with sit-ups. Tapeworms are an old fashioned model's trick for losing weight." Paul Said
"You know, these things can live inside of you for, like, 20 years?" Buck Said
"Ugh! This is insane...it's like a magician's handkerchief." Paul Said
"Actually, it kind of makes perfect sense. All the sushi you guys eat, it's like playing Russian
roulette with parasites. And with the moon...
Parasitic breeding cycles rise and fall with the full moon." Buck Said
"Will you shut up about the moon? I honestly don't know how you're so calm about this." Bobby Said
"Yeah why are you so calm about this?" Becca Questioned
"It's nature, you know? Circle of life." Buck Replied
"Yeah, I don't think that's what Elton John had
in mind when he wrote that." Paul Said
Becca's eyes widen as Buck continued pulling out more of the worm.
"How long is that thing, it keeps getting longer and longer." Becca Said, covering her mouth.
"Man, this has to be, like...six or seven feet." Buck replied
"Oh, God." They all said
"Have you been worn down lately? This thing has been stealing all your nutrients." Buck Said
"How do you know so much about tapeworms?" Bobby Asked
"I tended bar one summer at a surf beach in South America. These things are as common...as..." Buck Said
He tugs on the worm again, this time pulling it all out. Connor let's out a huge sigh of relief from the pain.
"Housecats." Buck Said
"Oh, God." Becca Said
Buck placed the tapeworm inside the plastic bag what Bobby held out.
"Whoa." Paul and Connor Said looking at the creature
"Congratulations, Connor. It's a boy." Buck Smiled
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Once her shift was over and spent a few minutes at the fire house, sharing stories about their night with Chimney and Hen who's had an interesting night on the full moon as well.
As the 118 crew all parted ways for the night, Becca arrived at Vince's apartment complex. She parked her car down the street and walked towards the building entering inside.
While in the elevator she texted to check up on the kids, and their friends mother's informed they were okay. The elevator door opened on the fourth floor, as Becca exited she walked down the hall then stopped at the door 4D. She knocked on the door, which was soon opened by Vince.
"Hey you made it." Vince Said
"Hey, I hope I didn't come to late cause you know I was chatting with some of my friends—." Becca Said, as Vince opened the door wider.
"Becca it's okay I swear come on in." Vince Said
"Okay." Becca Said
She entered the apartment then took off her jacket, which he took to hang in his closet.
"So what do you want to eat, I'm starving and please no sushi I've kind had that ruined for m-" Becca Said
Becca walked further into the apartment and saw the kitchen table which had two plates of delicious food on it, with two glasses set near it with a bottle of wine.
"You cooked?" Becca Said
"Mhm, well it's not sushi but I hope you like Italian." Vince Said, wrapping his arms around her.
A smile came across her face then turned her head, and gave Vince a sweet soft kiss.
"I love it, thank you for cooking for me." Becca Said
"Of course, now come on let's eat." Vince Said
The two of them walked to the table, he pulled out her chair and she sat down. During their dinner Becca told Vince about her crazy shift at work, while he couldn't believe what she told.
After dinner the two of them were seen dancing in the living room to some jazz music, Vince had playing on in the background. Becca wrapped her arms around his neck and stared deeply in his eyes as they swayed to the music.
Vince leaned down and kisses her again, this time passionately. As the kiss gets more intense he picks her up carrying her in his arms bridal style, Becca let's out a little laugh as he carries her to his bedroom shutting the door behind him.
