📷CHAPTER NINE📷

"Are you sure you were not followed?" Mr. Sebastian Cosgrove, a motivational writer asked, handing a glass of scotch to Wright Junior who finally, was seated on the second single arm chair in Mr. Cosgrove's living room.

"I wasn't. I parked my car in the Primy hotel's parking lot and I took a cab down here. No one knows I was coming here." Wright Junior replied, watching Mr. Cosgrove sit on the arm chair across from his.

Mr. Cosgrove was a well-known motivational writer. His books had touched millions of lives. Despite his break from writing, he still received letters from his readers who were thankful to him.

He had been close friends with Wright Junior's father since college. They both had the same passion for writing and the moment one became the CEO of Wright publishing, the other became the first writer to be published in it.

Mr. Cosgrove had been publishing his books at Wright publishing for fifteen years and after the death of Mr. Wright younger brother, things changed.

"How is Mrs. Cosgrove?" Wright Junior asked, sipping from his glass

"She's fine. Our youngest daughter put to bed three days ago so she went over to stay a while with her." Mr. Cosgrove replied wearing a smile that reached his eyes.

"That's good news."

"How is your brother, Justin?" Mr. Cosgrove asked with concern. Knowing the history of the boys relationship with their father, he sometimes, genuinely worry about them.

"He's fine. We spoke on Monday." Wright Junior replied smiling.

"Well, tell him to email me."

"It is done sir." He replied. Junior fixed his eyes on the book shelf that stood behind Mr. Cosgrove "I can see you still love reading." Wright Junior pointed out, not taking his eyes off the shelf.

"I never stopped loving it" He replied as Junior kept his glass on the stool beside his chair and walked over to the book shelf.

"Wow, you still have my dad's book on your shelf." Junior said while he drew out a book from the shelf titled 'ROAD TO ONE written by Andrew Wright.'

"Your dad was an excellent writer and Editor."

"I know that." Junior admitted quietly.

"Do you know that your dad was the only one who edited my book? I still miss how he scolded me for every little errors I made." Mr. Cosgrove said as his mind rambled off.

"Yet I wonder why you left." Junior voiced  before returning to his seat.

"I did so because he wanted me to change my pattern of writing. Your father knew how my books affected lives and he will never ask me to change that unless someone close to him told him so."

"My dad is a hard man. It is difficult to think that anyone could easily influence his decisions." Junior defended.

"True, your dad is a strict man, but it happened." Mr. Cosgrove argued.

I'll take it that you know who it was." Junior suggested curiously. He had suspected one person but hearing, Mr. Cosgrove saying his name will confirm all he had suspected.

"Of course I do and I'm surprise you are even asking that."

"How are you sure it was him?" Wright Junior asked, paying kin attention to Mr. Cosgrove's words.

"It's because he told me so. He said 'his-wife-to-be' left him after reading my book so, he promised me that as soon as he's father dies, my book will also die in Wright publishing.

Was Tony already anticipating his father's death? "He might have said it out of anger."

Mr. Cosgrove shook his head repeatedly in disagreement "It is not out of anger son. Your cousin is driven with ambition. That is in the past; you only need to be careful."

"Hmmm." Junior sounded while exhaling.

"You didn't come all the way here to hear those bullshits, did you?" Mr. Cosgrove waved the displeasing talk about Tony and  brought his glass to his mouth. His gaze were fixed on Wright Junior while he patiently waited for his reply

"I lost a client." Junior told him, devastated.

"Rose, I heard."

"Hmm, bad news travels fast." Junior sighed. Ashamed of his loss.

"What can I do to help the situation?" Mr. Cosgrove asked with deep concern reflecting in his eyes.

“I want to work on your piece.” Wright Junior shockingly announced. Beholding Mr. Cosgrove surprised expression, he quickly added “My father thinks I'm a failure and that Tony is the right man to run the company. I need to prove to him that I am ready.”

"Dring, dring!!"

"Hello, this is Mr. Wright Junior's office. How can I help you?" Amanda said after picking up the ringing telephone on her desk.

A female at the other end of line replied "Hi, I'm Sarah. I want to confirm if your boss is on seat."

"No, he isn't but I can take down a message." Amanda politely told the lady and immediately took out a paper and a pen.

"We're supposed to have lunch and I've been waiting for over an hour. I have tried calling his cell phone but he's ignoring my calls. Tell him I said, if he thinks he can get rid of me that easily, he is joking." The lady at the end of the line said angrily then, ended the call.

Amanda felt a little jealous, the man she crushed on had a girlfriend and it was at that point Amanda understood what Kate meant suggesting she kept her emotions in check.

"Well that's what crushes do, I guess. They crush you." Amanda sighed. Dancing her eyes round the chaotic office, Amanda thought "I may be upset but I need to put it in good use." She stood up from her cubicle, went over to her boss's desk and started clearing out the desk.

Tony was so angry after he dropped the call with Sarah. His head was about to explode from the confusion building up in his head. Sarah was his eye outside the office. She was to report to him about the goings of his cousin but this wasn't so at first.

Sarah was a good and faithful girlfriend to Junior at a time but when she realized that for her, money was what kept a girl in a relationship, she switched her affection to Junior's ambitious cousin, Tony Wright. If only she knew the cost of that change of affection, she would have had a rethink..

Sarah was a beautiful young lady, tall and sexy. Her model—like features were graced with a shiny golden blonde hair that sat full on her shoulders. She was a beauty that caught every man and, Wright Junior happened to be one of those men.

Tony had advised her not to leave Wright Junior yet. Even though she had a forbidden affair with Tony, he still saw her as a means of controlling his cousin. But now, things had changed. Sarah could no longer control Junior as she did before.

"I need to think of something fast before things go completely out of my control. Where on earth is Junior?" he asked himself hitting his clutched fist hard on his desk
