WONDERLAND ENTERTAINMENT REVEALS NEW GIRL GROUP SET TO DEBUT IN 2019

2019 has been a great year for rookie groups, and surely WISH will be no different. Although no official lineup has been released yet, WonderLand Entertainment has a number of experienced trainees many expect to debut. Based on the concept photos so far, there appear to be seven members in the group, but WonderLand Entertainment has neither confirmed nor denied the rumor.

The head of WonderLand Entertainment released a statement saying:

we have good feelings about our new group, wish. they will promote as a single unit, under a two and a half year contract. their concept will be dark, following along with a rise in "girl crush" concepts this year. the idols will be managed by artistic director, kwon min-ah (formerly of aoa). we are excited for wish's future! be sure to look out for their debut!

We reached out to Min-ah about her opinions on the group. Here's what she had to say:

wish is a very promising girl group made up of multiple talented idols. i think they have a good future ahead of them - their sound is so fresh and unique. i'm so excited for all of the girls and i look forward to working with them more! as for their concept, i know that a lot of groups have been doing more dark concepts recently. i hope that wish will stand out among them! that being said, wish won't be entirely dark, we hope to bring some more light-hearted aspects to them!

So far, only three members of the group have been revealed to the public, all well-known to the public due to previous attention throughout their trainee years.

Among these girls are Sara (Apsara Prasarttong), said to be the vocalist, main dancer, and center of the group. After covering dances from groups such as BTS and idols such as BoA, she quickly became the center of attention at WL Entertainment. She is no stranger to scandal, appearing in the media for three dating scandals over the past two years, most notably with Cha Eunwoo of ASTRO and Winwin of NCT (read more about the dating rumors here).

It was believed that Sara would make a debut with another group in the spring, but now it's clear why she was held back until WISH ! One fan was lucky enough to be able to talk with her as she was leaving the WL building (most likely after a long day of training.)

ah! sorry, i didn't see you there! oh, it's nice to meet you too haha! i'm doing fine, thank you~ you're too kind. i'm really looking forward to debuting with wish! sorry i can't talk for long, but everything is going really well, please watch out for us!

When she was asked about her recent dating scandal (with Yeo Chang Gu of PENTAGON), the fan reported that she seemed to be almost in tears, but said:

i'd just like to clarify that i'm not in a relationship right now. you don't need to worry about me! i'm doing just fine! haha, there are plenty more important things to be worrying about than me... if there are no more questions, i'd like to say thank you to mina sunbae for putting this all together, love you unnie!

She then blows a kiss to the camera and continues on her way.

The next two members to be revealed followed soon after. In a few hours, WonderLand Entertainment released the news that both Choi Da-eun and Han Xue would officially be joining the lineup of WISH !

Both of them have become well-known to the public eye over the past few years, though they have not been recognized as much as Sara.

Starting with Choi Da-eun, who gained the public's eye after releasing a viral cover of '성인식' by Park Jiyoon. She is set to be the rapper, main dancer, and visual of the group.

Da-eun signed with WL Entertainment after considering joining CUBE and Starship Entertainment. She auditioned for CUBE Entertainment after she graduated high school. Although she passed the first few rounds, she eventually got cut from CUBE auditions. She eventually was led to audition for WL Entertainment. With her dance skills, strong understanding of rhythm, and potential for rap, Da-eun was accepted into WonderLand Entertainment as a full-time trainee.

Needless to say, we're sure that Bae will be a welcome addition to the group. She is known for her hard work and excellent sense of rhythm. WL Entertainment is certainly not holding back in picking talented trainees for WISH.

The third member to be revealed was Han Xue, who also has quite the reputation. Xue, more commonly known by her stage name Jia, is a very outspoken trainee who seemingly does not care about her reputation and is not afraid to tell the (often harsh) truth. Jia is the second member to be foreign.

Netizens have suggested that the inclusion of international members may be an attempt by WL to enter the international market and gain more overseas fans.

hi everyone... i'd just like to say that, although i know a lot you have been waiting for my solo debut for a while, i'm actually going to debut with the group wish instead... i'm really excited for this opportunity, so please don't be mad! i have the utmost respect for my sunbaes. um, thank you guys for your support!

One fan commented that they would support her no matter what, but many were not convinced. They pointed out that Jia seemed to have forced optimism and wasn't acting normal. Jia read some of their comments, and reassured them by saying:

i know a lot of you are going to be upset, because i've been working for my dream for so long, but i trust mina sunbae and my unnies in the group. i hope you guys will watch for our debut! please don't worry about me, haha, i'm very excited to work with my other talented members!

Netizens have taken to twitter to claim that Jia will sabotage the group in order to get her solo debut. So far neither WL Entertainment or Jia have responded to those rumors.

Though we are glad Jia is making her debut, we are concerned about her wellbeing. Hopefully one day she will get an opportunity to release a solo mixtape.

WISH ! has not announced a debut date yet, but fans are already speculating when they will debut and the name of the album due to cryptic messages released by the agency.

Until then, it seems as though WL will keep a tight lip on any leaks, so these fans will just have to come up with theories themselves. Stay tuned for any updates on WISH's lineup, debut date, and album name!
