Foreword
"The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."
- Deuteronomy 31:8
Hi everyone!
First and foremost, I would like to thank you for choosing to read Never Alone. I hope you guys enjoy my story.
Secondly, about the grammar and vocabulary. Where I grew up, we were exposed to both American and British English. So, my vocabulary in this story would contain both. Our country has diverse cultures of our own origins and cultures from other places as well. So, there will be references to many cultures too.
Thirdly, this is the first story that I've started and planning to finish. But as a college student who doesn't take an English major, I have a pretty stressful schedule. So updating regularly might be a problem, but... I'd try my best to provide regular updates.
P.S This is purely a work of fiction. The names of characters, places, and courses are all made up. Though this story is based in England, the school/university in the story doesn't work the way schools/universities in England do. It is all made up.
P.P.S If you're going to start reading, then please read till the end of it. Stick with my characters, with me. It hurts me that you start reading and suddenly stop. It makes me think that Never Alone isn't good enough. I'm insecure about my writing as it is, and I do not need more negative thoughts than what I already have. Please do understand. This is a request.
Thanks for stopping by! Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
Stay blessed. Stay beautiful. Stay you.
Love,
~ Grace
Summary
"All my life, I've been told that I was born to shine. And I believed it. But now, I'm not so sure.
What am I to do when I'm lonely? I don't even know what's real and what's not anymore. How will I be myself when the world doesn't except who I want to be? How will I bear the expectations of all these people, when I can barely bear my own?
God only knows. That's the one thing I'm sure of. He knows what I need and, with Him in my life, I'm never alone."
Nerissa James has lived a sheltered life for as long as she can remember; loving parents, a sister whom she'd die for, best friends who she trusts more than herself and above all, God, her shining light in every moment. She couldn't ask for a better life. But when a change she's ready to accept breaks her sheltered life, everything she thought to be real, turns out to be fake. Wherever she went, pride, ego and jealousy has overtaken the society. In order to be accepted in the world she stepped into, Nerissa has to hide who she really is, from her society, so-called friends, and even God.
Just as she begins to think there's no going back to her old self, a message from her sister along with a song changes her life, making her realize how much she's changed. With God as her guide and with music as her companion; Nerissa sets out to change the views of her society, one step at a time, by being her true self, whether the world accepts her or not.
P.S This is an original story and is copyrighted by me. I'm a polite girl and all that, but if you copy my story, you might have to sleep with your night light on. *Smiles sweetly* So, let's get on with the story, yeah? Can't wait to hear your views!
Any votes, comments and feedback is very much appreciated.
Thanks for being here!
~Grace
