Guess who's back? I apologize for the very long wait, I have been busy this week. (I've also been procrastinating, ...maybe.) By the title I assume you know what's coming soon. Get ready for major character development! Anyway, I'm already planning for the 7th chapter. Until next time! :) ย  (Edit: Chapter 7 has already been written and will be published after Chapter 6)

"When will I feel this

As vivid as it truly is?

Fall in love in a single touch

And fall apart when it hurts too much

Can we skip past near-death clichรฉs

Where my heart restarts, as my life replays?

All I want is to flip a switch

Before something breaks that cannot be fixed

I know, I know the sirens sound

Just before the walls come down

Pain's a well-intentioned weatherman

Predicting God as best he can

But God, I wanna feel again"

You were currently sitting in class next to Sasha, who was on her phone. Trying your best not to doze off, because you are running on an hour of sleep.

"Today I will be assigning partners for the upcoming project."

Sometimes, you have a habit of zoning off. Staring at a wall and forgetting what you were supposed to be doing was a part of your daily routine.

Luckily for you, the teacher was merciful and paired you with Sasha.

"Is this project really necessary?" Sasha asked while she scrolled through her phone.

You had to admit that the project was kind of stupid, but you wanted a good grade, so you would do it anyway.

"I guess so."

Sasha looked up for a moment, then looked back down at her phone.

'Me too, me too.๐Ÿ˜”'

The bell dismissing class rang, signaling it was time to leave. You got up and packed your bag, ready to go to your next class.

"Hey, (Y/N) wait up."

You turned to see Sasha walking up to you, no longer sucked into the vortex of her phone.

"Wanna come over to my house after school to work on the project?" She asks.

"Sure, I don't see why not."

"Cool, I'll see you later then, cutie."

Sasha walked past you with a smirk, purposefully flustering you. 'What just happened.'

The day had gone by smoothly, except for when you found out your friends had gotten called to the principal's office after hacking the school system and having a disco party. Not to mention the animals released in the hallway during said 'party.'

To your relief, they had been let off the hook.

'Have they done stuff like this before? Why wasn't I invited?'

Somehow you always managed to miss the fun stuff.

Shaking your head, you began walking to Sasha's house. Your mother had texted you in the middle of the day to tell you she wouldn't be home until late, and that you would have to walk home. How fun.

Despite being exhausted, you decided to go to Sasha's house anyway to get the work out of the way.

'At least I got partnered with someone I know.'

You had finally made it to Sasha's and had begun discussing the project you were assigned.

"What poem should we choose to write? I like '___', but we don't have to choose it."

Silence.

You looked over at Sasha, who was on her phone. The entire time you had been over she had contributed nothing. Not even bothering to say anything, only nodding her head and giving a thumbs up from time to time.

'Looks like I'm doing this project on my own...'

Choosing a random poem, you did the work by yourself.

Within an hour, the work was finished. Writing came easy to you, so the project wasn't a difficult task. Stuffing your papers into your binder, you got up and began to leave, seeing no need to stay any longer.

'If she isn't gonna help at all, there's no reason for me to stay any longer.'

Sasha finally looked up from her phone, confused about why you were leaving.

"Wait- Where are you going?"

"Home." You reply, not even turning your head to look at her.

She got up and grabbed your wrist, an annoyed look on her face.

"Why don't you stay a little longer? It's not even that late."

The tone of her voice was somewhat forceful like she wasn't asking, but demanding.

Not wanting to make her angry, you turned around with a small smile. "I wish I could, but my mom wants me home by a certain time."

"I thought she was working late?"

"She is, but she still wants me home, sorry."

Sasha looked at you suspiciously, still slightly irritated from your previous actions.

Letting go of your wrist, she frowned."Fine. Goodbye (Y/N)."

"Bye Sasha."

A few days had passed, and you were currently sitting in the library, reading the strange book you had forgotten about.

'This book feels otherworldly. I don't know how to describe it but I feel like this was meant to be kept secret.'

But instead of putting it down, you continued to read it. Curiosity would often get the best of you.

An image of a star-shaped crystal caught your eye. You couldn't stop looking at it, seemingly hypnotized by the image.

A tap on your shoulder startled you out of your trance, almost causing you to drop the book you were reading. It was Marcy.

"Ah- Sorry! I didn't mean to scare you."

"It's ok."

You smiled up at Marcy, who was currently fidgeting with her fingers. 'Is she ok?'

Noticing how she seemed stressed, you motioned for her to sit down beside you, and she did.

"Are you alright? You seem nervous."

She looked up at you for a second before shaking her head.

"I'm fine! Sorry- I get anxious from time to time, but it's not a big deal."

You gave her a concerned look, to which she replied, "I'm okay! I promise!"

Not wanting to bother her any further, you dropped the topic and went back to your book. Marcy's eyes drifted to the book you were reading. She seemed... oddly curious about it, but didn't say anything.

"Hey, (Y/N)?"

"Yeah?"

Marcy hesitated but asked the question anyway, "What was it like when you moved? Was it hard?"

Her question surprised you.

"Yes, it was. It was scary at first, but I made some amazing friends. Though, I do miss the ones I used to have."

She looked down for a moment, taking in what you said.

"Why?" Curious as to why she was asking these questions.

"No reason! I was just wondering, sorry."

You said nothing about her nervousness but could tell something was up.

Grabbing a random fantasy book, you began to read, oblivious to the fact the book with the crystal was gone, and so was Marcy.

You had been so immersed in the book you were reading when you looked up, your friend was nowhere to be seen.

"Marcy?"

No response. It was unlike her to randomly leave, especially without announcing it.

You had a feeling that something would happen soon, and it wouldn't be good. That something is related to Marcy's strange behavior.

But for now, you could only wait.

It had been a few hours since the incident at the library, and you couldn't shake the feeling of worry. A headache had formed due to you stressing out about something minuscule.

Overthinking things was a daily occurrence, starting when you were back with your old friends. Being on edge, monitoring your every move, and making no mistakes took up most of your time. Never a moment of rest, worried you would anger or upset your friends. Apologizing profusely when any little hiccup would occur.

So it was reasonable you were so worried about Marcy. Had you done something to make her mad?

Deciding you needed to say something, you texted her, asking why she left.

Minutes went by, and no response.

Maybe you were overreacting, like usual, but something told you there was something more like Marcy was hiding something.

'Maybe it's nothing. I need to let it go. She was probably just tired.'

Doing your best to forget it, you turned your phone back on.

To your surprise, someone by the name of "Anonymous" was trying to airdrop you. Hesitant, you accepted it anyway, too curious about what it was.

Big mistake.

The airdrop was a blank image with a message reading, "Beware. The future holds many obstacles, some unheard of before, even otherworldly. Prepare for change, and be ready to fight for those you care for, because if you don't...fate won't be kind in return. The Four will deliver us."

You stared at your phone in shock, your worries only multiplying greatly.

"What?!"

Has someone read your mind?

'Why would anyone airdrop something like this?'

But even with all that was going on in your head, you knew one thing for sure. Something was going to happen.
