THE SECOND AND THIRD TASKS
As Draco walked down the hill with Blaise, he looks around for Cassiopeia who is nowhere to be found.
"Have you seen my sister?" He asks Balise, who shrugged.
"Didn't see her anywhere, actually," Blaise replied. "Why? Are you concerned?"
"Why would I be concerned? She's not a baby, I don't care about her," scoffed Draco, rolling his eyes as he walked into the small boat. Blaise muttered a 'wow' before stepping in the boat.
The Weasley twins were shouting, busy taking bets as students hand them tickets. Harry walked along with Neville, Ron already in one of the boats along with Ginny, after he told Harry that he would find Hermione, along with Cassiopeia who was nowhere to be found.
Neville hands Harry the gilliweed before Harry eyes it. "You're sure about this Neville?"
"Absolutely," replied Neville.
"For an hour,"
"Most likely," said Neville, making Harry look at him with a slightly frightened face.
"Most likely?" The green-eyed boy repeated.
"Well there is some debate among herbologists as to the effects of freshwater versus saltwater," grimaced Neville.
"You're telling me this now? You must
be joking," groaned Harry, letting out a heavy sigh.
"I just wanted to help," Neville pursed his lips.
"Well that makes you sight better than
Cassiopeia and Hermione," grumbled Harry, "Where are they anyway?
"You seem a little tense Harry,"
"Do I?" Harry asked sarcastically.
°°°
"Welcome to the second task!" said Dumbledore, over a large speakerphone. There are three large stands where students are on, cheering loudly as the four champions stand near the edge of it wearing their swimming costume. "Last night something was stolen from each of our champions. A treasure of sorts. These four treasures, one for each champion, now lie on the bottom of the black lake. In order to win each champion need only find their treasure and return to the surface."
Harry looked around, and he spotted Ron who gave him a thumbs up. Harry lets out a shaky breath before looking at the waters.
"Simple enough," commented Dumbledore. "Except for this, they will have one hour to do so and one hour only. After that they'll be on their own."
"Put that in your mouth," instructed Mad-Eye. Harry puts the gilliweed in his mouth and starts coughing and choking.
"You may begin at the start of the cannon," Dumbledore finishes. The cannon fires and the champions enter the water, three of them dive in while Harry is pushed. Underwater the effects of gilliweed take hold, Harry's hands and feet become webbed.
"What's the matter with him?" asked Seamus, looking at the water concerned.
"I don't know I can't see him," replied Ron.
Neville looked away from the water, placing his hands on his head. "Oh my god I've killed Harry Potter!"
Harry flies into the air like a dolphin and the crowd cheer. He swims among the fish and rocks. Singing voices start echoing, he swam towards it.
After a few minutes of searching around, he hears muffled screams. Slowly approaching it, he finds Hermione, Cho and Cassiopeia. Along with some young girl.
He places his hands on Cassiopeia's cheek, before looking over at Hermione and Cho.
He heard something approaching, and he turned to see Cedric, who frees Cho with his wand. Furthermore, he motions towards his watch, indicating that they didn't have much time left.
Harry sets about freeing Cassiopeia and Hermione but vicious merpeople appear.
"But she's my friend too!" said Harry.
"Only one," said a mermaid, pointing a sharp trident on his neck.
What looks like a shark approaches at high speed, it has legs, and it's Viktor. He takes Hermione and heads for the surface. Harry looks around, freeing Cassiopeia's leg.
Harry looks over and sees the young girl that Fleur was unable to rescue. Looking around, he sees that none of the mermaids were paying much attention to him, so he loosens the young girls rope too. He starts heading for the surface with the both of them.
Suddenly, something grabbed hold of his leg, dragging him back down slowly. He tries to fight it, but it was hard, so he pushes Cassiopeia and the young girl towards the surface.
Cassiopeia and the girl came up, they are coughing but safe. The young girl gripped onto Cassiopeia who tried her best not to drown as she helps the little girl. They are helped out of the water by Fleur, who looked so relieved that her sister and friend are safe.
Her brother watches as a towel was placed on Cassiopeia's shoulders, who shivers from the cold. She is wet, freezing and confused. Draco scoffed, shaking his head as he narrows his eyes at the girl.
Cassiopeia turned to the waters where she looked around for Harry, he suddenly jumps out of the water, landing in front of the crowd who cheered.
"Harry!" said Dumbledore.
"Get him another towel!" Barty instructed to someone, he placed another towel at Harry's shoulder.
Cassiopeia ran towards Harry, bringing him in a tight hug, which quite startled Harry. "Merlin's beard, Harry, are you okay?"
She looks at Harry's face, noticing the cuts and bruises, she places her towel on his shoulders.
"I'm fine," the boy replied, his cheeks slowly turning red. "How about you? Are you okay?"
"Fine, just...probably going in shock, but I'm fine." She chuckled.
Fleur approaches Harry, "You saved her, even though she wasn't yours to save. My little sister!" She kissed Harry on the cheeks, before smiling at him. "Thank you!"
She turned to Cassiopeia and embraced her. "Thank you too, you helped!"
"Not a big deal," the girl chuckled.
Hermione comes up to Harry, with a towel which she instead gave to Cassiopeia who gave her a pat on the shoulder. "Harry! Are you alright? You must be freezing! Personally I think you behaved admirably!"
"I finished last Hermione," said Harry.
'Next to last," corrected Cassiopeia.
"Attention! Attention! The winner is...
Mr Diggory!" announced Dumbledore, Cedric and his friends cheer loudly. "For showing unique command of the bubble head shark. The way I see it, Mr Potter would have finished first had it not been for his determination to rescue not only Miss Malfoy but the others as well. We've agreed to award him second place! For outstanding moral fiber."
Cassiopeia cheered loudly as she gave Harry another embrace, "Congrats!"
Harry, who looked shocked, still embraced her back.
Far from them, Draco narrowed his eyes at his sister and Harry, scoffing.
°°°
Cassiopeia walked inside the Slytherin Common room now clean and many Slytherins gave her a dirty look. So she returned the same look to them, before she was gonna head up the stairs, Draco called after her.
"Cassiopeia," he said.
She inwardly groaned, turning around and lifting a brow at her brother. "What?"
"Can we talk? Outside." He didn't wait for a reply, he only walked out, so Cassiopeia rolled her eyes and followed him.
They both stopped at the end of the empty Hallway, she lifted a brow. "Go on, I'm listening,"
"Something is going in between you and the Gryffindors," he spat. "Are you going to betray us? You know the rules Cassiopeia, father and mother won't allow you to be close to those people. Traitors, mudblood's and especially Potter."
Cassiopeia scoffed, "Nothing is going on, and you should get your nose out of my business because I can do whatever I want." She turned away, but Draco grabbed her shoulder.
"Father will disown you, Cassiopeia," he said, angry. "You're not listening to me."
She shrugged his hand away, "Believe me, even if he found out he won't."
"And why is that?"
"Because he told me to be friends with them," she looked around before whispering. "For information because you failed to do so in the first place."
Draco looked stunned, he shook his head. "Father would not."
"Oh he did alright, now will you excuse me, brother, I'm going to bed." She turned away from Draco, who looked very angry and sad that he did not know that Cassiopeia was assigned with that task, and he was not.
Twist and turns, Cassiopeia tried her best to sleep, but she could not. Even if she did, she would see some horrible things.
In her nightmares, she is running away from something, her breathing is hard. She saw someone approaching, she tried to call for them, but the figure did not turn to her.
She stopped to catch her breath, when suddenly a large vine grabbed her from her leg. She screamed for help, her wand dropped, and she was pulled further and further away, she tried to call for the figure, but it just stared at her.
Not only that, but she was dragged into a graveyard where she saw a large statue, and she took a peek behind it, only to see someone drop-dead. She gasped, she couldn't see the faces of the people in the situation.
She woke up, startled, catching her breath. She was confused because it felt so real.
Could it be a vision?
°°°
It is the night of the final task, the whole day Cassiopeia did not try to find Harry since she was too busy trying to figure out what she saw last night, maybe it was just a normal nightmare, and she could be just overthinking that it might be a vision.
Before everyone gathered, Cassiopeia anxiously walked to Harry and gave him a fearful smile. "Hey, good luck. I tried my best to find out whatever is going to happen, but..."
She hesitated, and Harry placed an awkward hand on her shoulder. "It's fine, thank you."
She nodded, "Good luck again, go win this Tournament." She winked at him before giving him a small kiss on the cheek, Harry froze and she chuckled walking away and to the stalls, behind Draco.
Music is playing, and a large crowd is gathered, the champions emerge.
"Earlier today Professor Moody placed
the tri-wizards cup deep within the
maze," announced Dumbledore. Only he knows its exact position. Now as Mr Diggory..."
The crowd cheer on hearing his name, mostly Hufflepuffs.
"And Mr Potter..." the Gryffindors and other students cheer, Cassiopeia smiled as she waved at Harry, who waved back at her. "Tied for first position they will be the first to enter the maze. Followed by Mr Krum and Miss Delacour..."
The bulgarian and Beauxbatons crowd cheer, and Dumbledore continued. " The first person to touch the cup will be the winner. I've instructed the staff to patrol the perimeter, if at any point should a contestant wish to withdraw from the task he or she need only send up red sparks with their wands. Contestants, gather round."
The champions whisper to each other and Cassiopeia's eyes landed on Moody, who seemed to be quite suspicious. And he did something with his tongue that looked like what a snake do. The girl narrowed his eyes at Mad-Eye took out his flask and drank from it.
"Champions! Prepare yourselves," He shouted.
"On the count of three... ONE..." As Dumbledore counted, the cannon goes off and Mr Filch shrugs comically. Dumbledore shook his head as Harry and Cedric enter the maze through different entrances.
Harry turned to the crowd and the last person his eyes laid on was Cassiopeia who gave him a faithful smile as the entrance closes up behind him.
And now, students wait.
