THIRTEEN | year 4

THE WORLD CUP

The summer break went by too quickly. Its was quick when Cassiopeia has nothing to do at home. The Malfoy Manor is always quiet, until this summer, when Lucius had brought in mysterious guests into his office.

When Cassiopeia would see his "guests" Lucius will glare at her and commands her to go back to her room. The girl grew curious, and she wanted to find a time where she could eavesdrop to her father's hushed conversation.

It is now the night before the World Cup, when she walked out from her Library and saw her father walk inside his office with probably five strangers. She bit her lip in thought, deciding whether or not she should eavesdrop.

But curiosity got the better of her.

The girl slowly tiptoed to her fathers office, and was luckly to find that the door was slightly open. She hid behind a large vase next to the door, and she leaned it listening into the conversation.

(I know this isnt the exact reason why they attacked in the World Cup, but i needed something to add so i had to add this bit huhu)

"You actually dont expect we are going to attack the World Cup, do you Lucius?" Someone asked, "thats an utterly stupid plan, the Ministry will be there and we will get caught."

"You dare to question what I think?!" Lucius slammed his hands on the table.

"Its a ridiculous plan!"

"Throw him to the dungeon!" He ordered someone, the man who previously asked the question was grunting as he was pulled up from his chair.

"You have no right to put me in there, you can't boss me around," said the man, Cassiopeia figured he was one of the Death Eaters.

Lucius approached the man, and lowly spoke. "You have stepped foot in my house. I have every right."

Cassiopeia heard their footsteps approach, so she made the run for it. She quickly closed her door, as she lets out a relieved sigh.

She sat on her bed, repeating the words she heard earlier.

They'll attack after the Tournament, but what for?

Her eyes widen when she noticed the book in her hand was not with her.

Cassiopeia was called into her fathers office the next morning. Her heart was pounding against her chest, her hand shaking from the anxiety.

What if her father saw her last night?

She bit the inside of her lip, as she entered the room. She sees her father sitting on his desk. She took a deep breath before looking up at her father.

"Goodmorning, father," she spoke, "You called?"

Lucius glared down at her, grabbing the book she took from the Library last night before she listened in to their conversation. He threw it across the room, landing in front of Cassiopeia who flinched when the book dropped.

"I saw this book last night," Lucius spoke, his voice low. "Tell me, what is it doing there?"

Cassiopeia gulped, "I don't know, father,"

Lucius scoffs, "Were you listening into my conversations, Cassiopeia?"

"No, father,"

He stood up, and approaches the girl, he glared down at her, his eyes full if anger. "Then what was it doing next to my doorstep?"

"I probably dropped it, father," the girl lied, regaining her posture and confidence. "sometimes I bring a lot of books to the dining table when you are not home, I must have dropped it when I passed your office."

Lucius narrowed his eyes at the girl.

"Besides, father, did you see it before you walked inside your office?"

The silence from her father was the answer she needed.

"Then I did drop it," she nodded, "You need to at least put the dots together before you get furious at me, if not you'll embarrass yourself, father."

"Do not talk to me that way!" He yelled at her, "You are not allowed to tell me what I need to know, when obviously I know more than you. I'm your father and you shall obey me in this household."

Cassiopeia clenched her jaw, and just in time her mother entered the office. She stares at her husband then at her daughter.

"What is going on?" asked Narcissa, "Lucius?"

"Nothing," said Lucius walking back to his desk, his mood suddenly changing.

Narcissa turned to her daughter before taking her hand a pulling her out of the office, she hands Cassiopeia a letter.

"This came in for you today," said Narcissa.

"From who, mother?" Cassiopeia asked.

"Its from Azkaban."

Cassiopeia froze, she looked at the paper and managed to read out her name from the front. She turned to her mother who looked very anxious as well.

"Its from your aunt..."

"Aunt Bellatrix?!" Cassiopeia's eyes widen, shocked. "What? Why?"

"I don't know," Narcissa gulped. "She always liked you, no one could understand why, and even I don't understand. She did tell me you and her bonded great and was happy you were a girl when she first found out."

"She...liked me?" Cassiopeia lifted a brow. Her mother hummed in response.

"If you need anything, or have any questions, feel free to ask me, darling." Narcissa walked away after placing a kiss on her daughters forehead.

Cassiopeia didn't want to open it, so she shoved it into her pocket and walked to her room.

Next to her room was Draco's, so she knocked on his door. She sees him all dressed and ready.

"Hey, Draco," she smiled.

"What do you want?" He snapped, "get out of my room."

"Dear Merlin, I just wanted to see my brother, how rude!"

Draco pushed her out of his room. She sighed and rolled her eyes. She slowly walked to her bedroom, closing the door behind her.

Their close relationship and their usual bond and joking around is slowly fading away. Noticing that her brother is slowly turning into her father.

She sat down on her bed, looking down sadly at her carpet, noticing small details on it.

She had nothing to do during her summer, everything's been lonely since Dobby left. She sighed, laying down on her bed.

No letters have been sent to her, not even one from Blaise.

But she got used to being alone by now.

"Hurry up both of you," said Lucius, mostly glaring at Cassiopeia who stared at the huge Quidditch Pitch. The large stadium which seems to have a huge number of floors were around the field and so many people from different countries were there.

"Blimey Dad, how far up are we?" The familar voice of Ronald Weasley reached her ears, Cassiopeia perked up.

Lucius smirks, " Well put it this way, if it rains...you'll be the first to know,"

"Father, Cassiopeia and I are in the minister's box," boasted Draco, following the classic smirk of his father. "By personal invitation of Cornelius Fudge himself."

"Don't boast Draco. There's no need with these people," Lucius scoffs, he then used his cane to grab onto Harry's foot. "Do enjoy yourself, won't you? While you can."

Cassiopeia stood there silent, following her father and brother to the seats where they were assigned in. She looked back, before calling out: "Father, may I use the restroom before we start?"

"You should have went there earlier, hurry up." He growled, Cassiopeia nods and walks towards the Weasleys, Hermione and Harry.

She watched as her father and brother were walking futher away, until finally she couldn't see them.

She walked up the stares, calling for Harry. "Psst! Potter!"

Harry whirled around, confused. He saw Cassiopeia waving. He silently slips away, walking to her with a look.

"What?" He asked, "have you came to boast more, Malfoy?"

"Excuse me, I did not say a word just now," she rolled her eyes. "And besides, I came to say hello like a decent human  being."

"What for? We aren't even friends," he frowned.

"Right, you're totally right. What was I thinking?" She sarcastically said, "Well I was going to tell you something but nevermind since you are being an arsehole to me."

"What were you going to say?" He asked.

"Be careful later." She nods, "And umm, here's a candy so you can lighten up your mood. Goodbye."

She takes his hand, places the small candy on his palm. "Don't worry, Potter, it isn't poison. I prefer more brutal ways to kill." She winked at him.

She left a confused Harry Potter, who looked at the candy then back at her waving hair on a ponytail. He shook his head, then he puts the candy in his pocket.

She had no idea why she had to lie to see him. She shrugged off the idea.

The ceremonies begin. Balloons fly and fireworks go off.

She sat next to her brother who was really interested.

"My bet's on the Bulgarians," she whispers fo him.

Draco scoffed, "You don't know anything about Quidditch. I suggest you be quiet before you embarrass yourself."

"So your bets on the irish?"

"No! Of course not, I'm in the same team as you," Draco shrugged. "Oh look its the Irish,"

Five green and white figures fly through the air on their brooms leaving a colored trail behind them. A glittering leprechaun appears in the sky and starts dancing, the crowd gets very excited.

" Here come the Bulgarians!" said Cassiopeia.

Five red figures this time, one of them performs a stunt on his broom. One of them appears on the large screen. The crowd begins to chant 'Krum, Krum, Krum'. Viktor Krum waves to the crowd.

" Good evening! It gives me great pleasure to welcome each and every one of you to the final of the 422nd Quidditch World Cup," Cornelius annouces, his wand on his throat like a megaphone, "Let the match begin!"

•°•○

Cassiopeia sat on the chair of the small living room inside the magical tent. Her father had left her and Draco without a single word.

Fireworks were heard, with cheering outside of the tent, the Bulgarians happy that their team had one. Krum had great Quidditch moves which helped them win.

Dimly, she could tell something has gone terribly wrong. She bit her nails anxiously, her feet tapping on the floor as her eyes were still glued to the tent entrance in front of her.

The noises had changed. The singing had stopped, and the sounds of screaming can be heard. She looked at Draco, who turned to her nodding his head.

"What?" She questioned. Draco didn't say anything, he grabbed her wrist.

"No time to ask--- they're here," replied Draco, "just don't leave my side."

Cassiopeia was silent, she knew what is going to happen. They both hurried out of the tent.

By the light of tents burning, she could see people running away into the woods, fleeing from something. Loud yells, and jeering laughter reached her ears.

Shd sqiunted her eyes, noticing the hooded figures with masks on their faces.

Death Eaters.

Once or twice Cassiopeia saw one of the marchers blast a tent out of his way with his wand. And more tents caught fire.

High above them were people floating in mid-air, she lets out a breath, her eyesbrows furrowing. Draco pulled her away, they continued running.

Dark figures were blundering through the trees. Anxious shouts and kids crying were mixed upon the noises of the crowds.

Cassiopeia heard a voice call out as she and her brother run inside the woods. She spotted someone holding out their wand, illuminating a light directing its narrow beam across the path.

"Tripped over a tree-root," said a familiar voice.

It was Ron, Hermione and Harry!

"Well, with feet that size, hard not to," said the drawling voice of her brother.

The trio turned sharply at them, Cassiopeia and Harry making eye contact. She glared at Draco who smirked.

"Hadn't you better be hurrying along, now? You wouldn't like her spotted, would you?" Draco nodded his head towards Hermione.

"What's that supposed to mean?" asked Hermione, defiantly.

"Granger, they're after muggles," replied Draco, "D'you want to be showing off your knickers in mid-air? Because if you do, hang around...they're moving this way, and it would give us all a laugh,"

"Hermione's a witch," snarled Harry. Cassiopeia took a step, putting her hand on her brothers shoulder.

"Have it your own way, Potter," grinned Draco, "If you think they can't spot a Mudblood, stay where you are."

"You watch your mouth!" shouted Ron, angrily.

Cassiopeia walked between them, "Enough! Lets go, Draco!"

Just then, a large bang was heard, louder than they have ever heard. The trio jumped, along with Cassiopeia.

"Scare easily, don't they?" chuckled Draco, "I suppose your daddy told you all to hide? What's he up to--trying to rescue the muggles?"

"Where are your parents?" said Harry, obvious that his temper is rising. "Out there wearing masks, are they?"

Oh how Cassiopeia wished he was wrong.

"Well... if they were, I wouldn't be likely to tell you, would I, Potter?" Draco smiled.

"That's enough, Draco," Cassiopeia glared at him, "Now's not the time to throw insults."

"It's not an insult, Cassiopeia," her brother scoffed, "It's the truth."

"Come on," said Hermione, not glancing at Cassiopeia, she grabs Ron's arm and they turn around. "Lets go find the others,"

Cassiopeia turned to Harry and gave him a apologetic look. He looked down, walking away with Hermione and Ron.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" She glared at her brother.

"What? Me?"

"No, the tree behind you," she said sarcastically, rolling her eyes. "Yes you!"

"There's nothing wrong with me," Draco leaned on the tree, crossing his arms around his chest.

"So what you just said was nothing?" She asked.

Draco scoffs, "It was not. God, what is wrong with you, Cassiopeia?"

"Me?!"

"You used to enjoy insulting people, just like me," Draco narrowed his eyes. "You burned down the hallway in Beauxbatons two years ago!"

"And is there something wrong with changing?" She asked.

"You don't change after one year at Hogwarts," he scowled. "Unless what you told me was a lie."

"About what?"

"You burning down the Hallway," he lifted a brow.

"No, I did do it on purpose," she merely smiled at the memory. "Thats besides the point, why can't you just be a kind person for once?"

"Because I don't do that! I want to be like father!"

Cassiopeia laughed dryly, "You want to be like him? Out of all people, him?!"

"Yes, I want people to look up on me,"

"So you also want to become a Death Eater?" She whispered lowly to him, glaring angrily. "You want to follow You-Know-Who?"

"If I can, I will," he replied, confident. "It's the bravest thing to do, anyway. Unlike Potter, who keeps running away from him."

"That's what you call bravery?" She chuckled dryly, shaking her head. "You're so wrong. So utterly wrong. Thats what you call being a coward."

"You're not allowed to tell me what I can and can't do, Cassiopeia!"

"I'm trying to help you, Draco," she sighed. "Just stop being a horrible person!"

"I bet you've gone soft because of Potter and his friends," he snarled, "You're so weak now, Cassiopeia. You let them get inside your head."

"Don't you understand that I'm trying not to let Father get inside of my head?" She hissed.

Just as Draco was about to open his mouth to reply, he noticed something bright was shining behind the leaves of the trees. Cassiopeia followed his gaze, and noticed a skull, that had a snake coming out of it's mouth.

She gulped, remembering that from something. She swore she saw something like that before, but she couldn't remember from what. Shivers ran down her spine as she watched it move.

Her father appeared in front if them, grabbing them harshly and aparating back to their Manor.

Her father looked horrfied, he quickly walked inside the gates of their Manor and walked in the house, the two siblings behind his heel. Narcissa told them to go up to their rooms, and usually the two would give each other a look, but this time they didn't even glance at each other once.

Cassiopeia slammed her door shut, then gasping when she remembered what that Mark was.

It was the Dark Mark.

So i kinda changed my writing style cuz i thought my last one was too dry and bad. Please tell me which you prefer so I can change it!
