FIGURING OUT THE FIRST TASK
Dear father,
I am doing well in my classes, and I hope you and mother are well at home. I am making my reports about Potter and his friends, I cannot get much information anymore since they stopped talking with me because Draco couldn't keep quiet.
Yesterday, the champions of the Tri-Wizard Tournament were announced, and Potter was the fourth one to be chosen. It is odd, considering that he cannot put his name in the Goblet of Fire because he is not of age to join.
Oh, and Draco has been bothering me quite lately since I've been trying my best to regain the trust of Potter and his friends.
Sincerely,
Cassiopeia.
Cassiopeia places the parchment inside the letter, then stamping it with the wax. She grabbed her jacket before walking out of her dorm and to the Tower where she sends and receives letters.
As she was about to walk in, she bumped into Harry Potter himself. She muttered a curse before holding the letter in her hand as tight as she can, making sure she won't be an idiot and drop it.
"Harry! Hi!" She waved. Harry's eyes light up and he smiled back.
"Umm, hello," he said. "Listen, about Ron on the train last time, I tried talking to him, but you know him--"
"Oh that? It's been almost two weeks, it's fine," she pursed her lips. "He was a bit...right you know, he stopped when you walked away."
"But you tried anyway," said Harry.
"Yeah, umm, by the way," she changes the subject, not wanting to dwell on it more. "How in the name of Salazar Slytherin did you put your name in the Goblet of Fire?!"
Harry lets out a heavy sigh, "I would never do that, why would I put myself in danger?"
Cassiopeia nodded as she gave her letter to her owl, watching as it flew away, the brown letter with her fathers name on its beak. "True,"
"No one from Gryffindor except for Neville is talking with me," Harry puts his hands in his pocket. "Not even Hermione or Ron,"
Cassiopeia frowned, "Because of that?"
"Yep," Harry mumbled, he looked at her before asking: "No one likes me now, I guess."
She chuckled, "Welcome to my world and don't worry, I do." She winked, before bumping on his shoulder playfully as she walked out of the tower, Harry trailing behind her.
"You don't have friends?" He asked, "That's impossible."
"Tried my best to make some, they don't really trust me,"
Harry's forehead creased, his mouth set in a straight line as two walked down the stairs, knowing that they could be one of the reasons why she doesn't have friends, It's because Ron, Hermione and himself, don't trust her.
But there's seriously something that caught Harry's eye and a feeling that he should trust her.
And so, since he has no one to talk to, he decided to trust her.
But he always did, even before.
And it was odd.
°°°
Cassiopeia flipped her notebook, trying her best to help Harry by finding out what their first task is, sitting next to Harry under the big tree.
As she scribbled and crumpled the parchment, Neville gasps and talks to himself. "Amazing...amazing!"
"Neville, you're doing it again," said Harry.
"Oh, right sorry." mumbled Neville.
Harry grabs the book beside Cassiopeia, reading the title out loud. "Magical water plants of highland Lochs?"
"Moody gave it to me," said Neville. "That day we had tea."
"Still got nothing?" asked Harry, as he looked over her shoulder. She lets out a heavy sigh, slumping back to the tree, bot realizing how close they were.
"Nothing, just something about the water and...dancing?" She crumpled the paper again. "What if your first task is dancing?"
Harry scoffed, just as he was about to open his mouth to talk, there was stomping and crunching of the grass. The three turned and saw Hermione, Ron and Ginny.
"We've already been through enough people why don't you just go and do it yourself?" Hermione's voice reached their ears. "Ugh. What do you want me to say again?"
It was clear that Ron and Harry aren't on speaking terms. Harry stood up, Cassiopeia grabbing on his hand for support as she stood up, then letting go, and she brushes the dirt from her pants.
Hermione walks up to Harry. "Ronald would like me to tell you that Seamus told him that Dean was told by parvati that Hagrid was looking for
you."
"Is that right? Well..." his stern face turned into a confused one. "What?"
"Uhh..." Hermione huffed in annoyance before walking back to Ron for more whispering, and she comes back.
"Dean was told by Parvati that..." Hermione sighed, "please don't make me say it again. Hagrid's looking for you."
"Well you can tell Ron--"
"I'm not an owl!" yells Hermione, walking away and grabbing Ginny's arm. Ron sends him one last glare before walking along with the girls.
"Damn, who ruffled her feathers," chuckled Cassiopeia. "Anyway, you should go, it might be important."
"Yes, I will." Harry turns, grabs his things. He walks away before turning back to Cassiopeia. "If you've found out-"
"I'll tell you as soon as possible," she smiled, "now leave."
"Right."
°°°
She did not sleep at all, something's bugging her, and she couldn't concentrate on sleeping. She scribbled and crumpled her paper, almost finishing her sketchbook as she mutters in annoyance.
"Dear Merlin, shut the bloody hell up, Malfoy!" Pansy growled beside her.
"You shut the hell up, Parkinson, this thing is important."
"Then get out! We're all trying to sleep!"
"Oh don't make me shove all these papers down your throat, I'll go! I can't even concentrate with your loud snoring." Cassiopeia grabbed her jacket, blanket, wand, and sketchbook then walking out of the dorm room.
She plopped on the couch after she turned the fire on with her magic, now comfortable. She turned to the window where she spotted the large squid swimming around, she looked around more, thinking until her eyes went back to her sketchbook. Her ears focused on the crackling of the fire. Her forehead creased, her pencil moving around on the paper, letting her hand and imagination free.
Almost two hours had passed, and she stopped. Finished. Her eyes narrowed, noticing a dragon and an egg. She bit her lip, her eyes widening.
"Oooo, please don't fail me god of seers," she muttered, grabbing her things before walking out of the Common Room, quietly making her way to the Gryffindors.
"Oh Cassiopeia Malfoy, you idiot." She cursed at herself for just realising that she doesn't know the password. She stood in front of the painting.
"Hiii!" She smiled.
"Password?"
"I'm a Gryffindor, and I have memory problems, can you let me in?"
"Am I supposed to believe you?" scoffed the painting. "I can see you'd blanket is green, Slytherin girl."
"You're a painting! You're not supposed to be smart." She walked away back to the Slytherin Common Room.
°°°
Cassiopeia, who has not slept, talked down the dorm room her hair a mess. She put her hair on a low ponytail as she sat down on the couch, she sees the students speaking to each other and laughing.
Draco sat beside her, "Goodmorning--oh my, you look horrible."
"Try staying up all night," she puts her face on her hands. Draco shook his head, taking something from his pocket.
"Want a badge?" He asked, handing her a yellow badge that said 'Cedric Rules!' Then it spins and shows Harry on a green background.
"Sure," she said, throwing it on the floor and stomping on it.
"What's the matter with you?" Draco asked, offended. "I made these!"
"Okay, and?"
"I reckon you're mad about Potter," he chuckled. "Saw you two hanging around the other day, you fell for him? The person our family hates the most?"
"Oh grow up, I don't like him at all!"
"So what's with you hanging around Potter and the stupid Gryffindors?"
She stood up, grabbing the badge from the floor. "If you didn't know, father asked me to."
"What?"
"Nothing," she smiled, taking Draco's hand and placing the smashed badge on his hand. "Later." She walked away, It's too early to talk about that. It's annoying.
"Oi! Potter!" She shouted, she walked beside him.
"Cassiopeia!"
"I found out what the first task is!" They both said I'm unison, then the two frowned.
"How'd you know?" She asked.
"Hagrid took me to see it, he knows, that's why he was looking for me," he said, as he grabbed his bag. "You?"
"You know, I drew it out, then I walked the Gryffindors, but I forgot I didn't know the password," she groaned. "I stayed up all night because of that, and you already knew! Bloody pathetic."
Harry chuckled when he watched Cassiopeia scratch her head, exasperated. They walk to the courtyard, noticing the badges on students. Harry frowned.
"Oh, about the badges--- Draco made them," she bit her lip grimacing. Harry didn't reply only pursing his lips as students throw insults at him, making Cassiopeia glare at them.
"Cedric rules!" a pupil runs pass them.
"Thanks," mumbled Harry, as the two of them walked gets to a doorway which leads into the courtyard, two students stand in their way.
"Like the badge?" One of them smirked, Cassiopeia scoffed, she tore it from their uniforms making them gasp in surprise when it left a huge tear from the pin.
"Shove these up are your arse," she smiled as she placed the badges in their hands, Harry stared in shock. Cassiopeia grabbed his arm, pushing through them.
"You're going to get me a new one, Malfoy!" One of them whined.
"Go ask my father, I'm sure he will," she shouted back, not bothering to give a glance.
"You didn't have to, you know?" Harry whispered while Cassiopeia was still gripping his arm like a kid.
"You'd look pathetic if I didn't do anything," she rolled her eyes. "Anyway, I'll stand here while you go talk to Ceddie-boy,"
Harry nodded after Cassiopeia lets go of his arm, pushing him towards Cedric who laid on a bench, laughing along with his friends. After a few minutes, Harry nods at Cedric before making eye contact with Cassiopeia who was fixing her hair, he motioned towards her, and she walked towards him just as Cedric left.
Just as the two were about to leave, Ron and Seamus are walking along and Harry approaches them making Cassiopeia grimace.
"You're a foul git you know that?" barked Harry, Cassiopeia lifted a brow.
"You think so?" asked Ron.
"I know so,"
"Anything else?"
"Yeah, stay away from me." Harry scowled at him, Ron's eyes landed on Cassiopeia who stood behind them with a bored expression.
"Fine, you've got a new friend anyway," said Ron, "and it's someone who you and I never trusted from the start, times changed so fast, am I right?"
Cassiopeia narrowed her eyes at Ron, Harry pushed Ron's shoulder.
"Hey! Don't bring her into this, at least she understood that I'd never put my name in that stupid Goblet!"
Ron was surprised that he would get angry over that. Seamus grabbed Ron, who scoffed before turning his back and walking away. Cassiopeia doing the same to Harry.
"So touched that you'd defend me back there," she chuckled.
"Now we're even?"
"No, I haven't slept, so I could figure out what your first task was," she snorted. "Owe me that, maybe soon."
As the two were about to leave, a call was heard from the tree. "Why so tense Potter? My father and I have a bet you see. I don't think you're going to last ten minutes in this tournament." He jumped down from the tree, chuckling. "He disagrees. He thinks you won't last five."
Harry stomped towards him angrily, "I don't give a damn what you and your father thinks, Malfoy. He's vile and cruel, and you're just pathetic."
Cassiopeia huffed, he's spitting facts, she sees no use of defending them. But they're still her family, so she furrowed her eyebrows at Harry who turned to her, she gave him an offended look, and Harry just stared at her, cursing to himself that he forgot that she was there.
As Harry walked pass Cassiopeia, Draco scowled, taking his wand out from his robe pocket and tries to cast a spell.
"Draco--" Cassiopeia shook her head, but before she could say more, Mad-Eye appears and quickly turns her brother into a ferret.
"I'll teach you to cast when someone's back is turned!" He said, angrily. Harry laughed beside Cassiopeia, who gasped before letting out a chuckle. Mad-Eye puts Draco into Crabbe's pants, who moved around in fear as Draco wiggled inside his pants.
Cassiopeia turned to Harry, whispering: "Feed him to Buckbeak,"
Harry smiled before laughing at Draco, it was like they both forgot what just happened.
Just then, Professor McGonagall appeared. "Professor Moody what are you doing?"
"Teaching," he grumbled.
"Is that a student?"
"Technically it's a ferret."
McGonagall took out her wand and transforms Draco back into his normal self. "My father will hear about this!"
"Is that a threat?!" Moody chases after Draco, who backed away in fear. "I could tell you stories about your father that would curl even your greasy hair, boy! It doesn't end here!"
"We never use transfiguration as a punishment, surely Dumbledore told you that," scolded McGonagall.
"He might've mentioned it," Mad-Eye looks down, like a child that is being scolded by his parents.
"Well you will do well to remember it," McGonagall turned her back and Mad-Eye stuck his tongue out to her.
He looked at Harry, "Come with me, leave your girlfriend behind,"
"Girlfriend?!" They both repeated in unison, Mad-Eye smirked.
"She's not my girlfriend," Harry scoffed. Cassiopeia gagged, shaking her head.
"Ugh, just leave," she said before walking away.
