prologue ;

"Oi!" yelled Draco, knocking on his sister's door. "Cas! Wake up!"

"No!" Cassiopeia yelled back, putting her pillow over her head. "Go away, I'm trying to sleep!"

"It's our 11th birthday, sister! Surely you wouldn't want me to open your letter!"

The girl bolted up from her bed, pushing away her white blanket and opening the door. She grinned at her brother, and her eyes twinkled in happiness.

"Letter?" She breathed, "Where?"

"Downstairs obviously." He lifts a brow, "Last one to go downstairs is a Goblin!"

Draco ran, Cassiopeia gasped and run after him, yelling: "You idiot! You should count before running!"

They ran down their stairs and instantly stopped, seeing their father standing at the bottom of the stairs with his usual annoyed and strict look.

"Children. How many times do I have to say, not to yell s early in the morning." He looked over at Cassiopeia, narrowing his eyes. "Cassiopeia, did you remember to brush your hair before walking out. What a disgrace."

"Father," said Cassiopeia...looking down at the floor. "It's our birthday today..."

"Yes," he nodded, turning his back. "I am aware." He walks away, his head up high.

Draco nudges his sister who looked at him and pursed her lips. Normal father, not caring in the world. The only thing he cares is having blood purity and such...oh and keeping his hair clean as possible.

They walked to the dining room, where their mother sat...she spotted her children and smiled sweetly.

"Hello darlings!" She smiled, "Happy birthday to you two."

"Thank you, mother." beamed Draco and Cassiopeia in unison.

"Now, shall we open our letters first..." Their mother lifts a brow. "Or breakfast first?"

"Letters!" They chirped, happily.

"Of course, letters."

She hands Draco a letter and another to Cassiopeia. Lucius sat down at the very end of the table, lifting his brow as he watches his children.

"Now, Draco open yours first." said Narcissa, looking about happily.

"I got a letter from Hogwarts!" He beamed, then reading his letter aloud.

"Splendid." said Lucius, nodding. "Draco in Hogwarts."

"Cassiopeia, your turn darling."

"Beauxbatons." said Cassiopeia, her smile dropping. "I got accepted at Beauxbatons not Hogwarts...?"

"Never mind." said Narcissa.

"But...Draco and I will be separated." Cassiopeia frowned, "I..."

"It's okay, Cas." assured Draco, "You'll be fine on your own. I'm sure."

Cassiopeia nodded, and sighed...muttering: "I hope so..."

"Now, lets open presents now shall we?"

Lucius looks at his daughter disapprovingly, and he stood up, walking out of the dining room, a scowl on his face.

He despises Cassiopeia. And she always lived as a shadow of Draco's. No one knew about the other child if the Malfoy's since Lucius barely speaks about her. She is what he calls a disgrace, and Cassiopeia would do anything to make her father proud and treat her like his daughter and not his servant.

Until, everything went even downhill when she was expelled from Beauxbatons.

"Expelled? Expelled?!" Lucius growls at 12 year old Cassiopeia. "How can that be?! What did you do?!"

"Well," she looked down, "Someone made me angry, father. Isn't that what you want me to do, to be looked at in fear?"

He scowls... "You are ruining our family's name, You disgrace! Look at your brother!"

"Didn't you say he embarrassed you when he went to that Quidditch game with Potter?" She spat, then realising her words, she gulped and took a step back. "I'm sorry, father. I didn't mean to—"

He growls. "You ruined our family's name, our title. Leave."

"Father—"

"LEAVE!"

Cassiopeia blinked and turned away, leaving the drawing room and running up to her bedroom. She slammed the door, falling down to her knees and letting out quiet sobs.

•••

"Yes, mother..." she opened her bedroom door, looking at her mother who walked inside her bedroom and say down on her bed.

"Cassiopeia, darling..." she started, "Do not listen to your father..."

"How can I not?" Cassiopeia asks, looking away as she sat down next to her mother.

"At least you got a letter at Hogwarts now." Narcissa hands a letter to Cassiopeia.

"How—?" Cassiopeia blinked, taking the letter from her mothers hand. "What?"

"Well," Narcissa smiled, "Hogwarts knew you were...expelled, Dumbledore himself came to the door this morning when you and your father went to the Ministry."

Cassiopeia smiled, opening the letter...

Finally, a new start.

Maybe she will actually make her father proud this time.
