Someday, I know
I'll be able to touch the constellations
Lingering in a vast sea of nothingness,
And find myself on the path
To the realm of the stars.
Isn't the unknown terrifying?
A conundrum i can't solve?
Yes, yet,
I want to know more of it. All of it.
I want to uncover the secrets of the universe,
Unmask the impossible,
Find what yet doesn't exist.
I want to float as a speck of stardust
In the infinite of the universe.
I want my eyes to see what the world can give to me,
To show me,
the world in all its entirety,
All it's beauty,
And tainted glory.
In eternal, impossible darkness,
Where the universe hides
Planets
Stars
Suns
Supernovas
black holes
Of all kinds
And yet we still have light years worth more to discover.
Someday,
I will walk on the moon
And leave my foot prints there for history to perceive
And I will look around me and think:
"The universe is a gift I never deserved to see."
Someday,
space will open its doors to me.
But for now,
As I stand here
I look at the stars through a telescope
And let my imagination wander,
Til I'm there in the future.
My dear universe,
This is my ode to you.

Small Backstory behind this poem
Ever since I was little, I've always had a fascination with space and the great beyond. However, becoming an astronaut or an aerospace engineer is not something I'll ever (unfortunately) be not capable of doing because my brain is not cut out for numbers and calculations which is a very big part of space work. So, I decided that if I can't be an astronaut, maybe I could write about it so that In a way, I could imagine the life I wish I had. As the title states: this is my little ode to the great big beyond. I hope you guys enjoyed- (interstellar also sparked interest in me to write this)
With that being said, have a lovely day.
x. Nikki
