There Jennifer was by the seashore in her lilac nightdress, she saw a lady-like figure with black book between her hands, her eyes shut tight, she chanted.

"Spirit of air, sand and sea,

Convert to set the angel free,

In the wind, I send this rhyme,

Bring death before me,

Before my time"

A powerful wind blew around her swiftly like a tornado, causing her to levitate and a dark grim shadow figure came at her.

"Somebody help!!" Jennifer screamed on top of her voice but no sounds came out, she looked around her to see if anyone was in sight but there was no one.

She heard something unusual, a birthday song, a force starts pulling her back and she opened her eyes, there was a party hat on her head, her aunt by her bed holding a birthday cake singing a birthday song, she was having weird dreams... Again.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you...

Happy birthday to you Jen-"

"Aunt Celia.... I told you I don't want to celebrate my birthday this year, we had a deal and how did this thing get on my head" she interrupted the birthday song and took off the party hat on her head.

"But it's your sixteenth birthday, you know I've been planning your sweet sixteen since forever" Celia pleaded.

"I know aunt....but I really do not want any party this year, please aunt??" Jenny pleaded in return.

"Ok!!! Fine!!! I'll let you off the hook this time... In that case, get ready for school, breakfast's ready, I made your favorite!!" Celia responded.

"Tater tots??!! Thank you so much, Aunt!!!! You're the best!!!" she said and hugged her aunt smiling from ear to ear.

"Anything for you sweetness... I got you a gift, please let me give it to you... Don't say no" Celia begged

"That's fine Aunt... I Don't mind presents" she replied

"Alright... get ready for school, the bus will be here any moment now"

She raced off to the bathroom for a shower, threw on a blue jeans and a black sweatshirt, wore her hair up using her favorite blue scrunchy.

"Aunt Celia I have to take my tater tots to go, I'm late!" Jenny said as she sprinted down the stairs.

"Okay... Have a nice day and happy birthday!!!"

Jennifer White attended Hilton high in Bexley, Columbus Ohio, she's 5 ft 5, pale skin with honey brown eyes that brings out her brunette hair shade.

Jennifer is a bookworm with a strong interest in chemistry, grew up with her aunt, she didn't know her father but she had pictures of her mother.

Jenny's mum died in a car accident when she was three years old and her aunt took care of her since then. She had only one friend in school, her best friend Gary Anderson, they have been friends since 4th grade.

They have a funny name for her in school, "Jennerd" an amalgamation of "Jenny" and "Nerd", Ginger Stein, red hair blue eyes, 5 ft 9 tall, came up with the name and since then everyone started teasing her with it at every chance they get.

Ginger, on the other hand, is popular and mean, not so good with her studies, all the boys flock around her except one, Slade Wilson, he's a transfer student from a school in Australia. He rides a black power bike to school, has spiky dark hair, 6 feet 2 inches tall and his most charming feature... his sweet ocean blue eyes.

Ginger was out to get him since the very day he set foot in class but all her tricks didn't work on him, it drove her insane.

It was a typical morning in Hilton high, students throwing folded paper at one another, boyfriend and girlfriend kissing in the hallway, other students getting their books from their respective lockers.

Jenny headed for her locker, she was almost late for chemistry class.

She opened her locker to get her textbook and from nowhere Liam grabbed the book from her and started throwing it around, Liam is a bully and also Ginger's yes-man, he does anything Ginger tells him to.

As Jenny tried to retrieve her book, she fell and twisted her ankle, everyone started laughing at her and making fun of her.

"Hey, Jennerd!!! Get up, here's your dumb book!!" Liam mocked her and that's when the unexpected happened.

Slade walked up to Liam and said, "Give the book to me..."

"Or what??!!" Liam retorted

"Trust me... You Don't wanna know, give the book to me and maybe I won't break your face"

"Oooohhhhhh," everyone said at the same time, their phone cameras ready to take pictures and record videos.

"Aarrrggghhhhh" Liam grunted and threw a punch at Slade but he dodged and retaliated with a heavy blow in Liam's guts and finished it with an uppercut. Liam was totally knocked out, lying flat on the floor with a bleeding nose.

He picked up the book and gave it to Jenny, "I believe this belongs to you.... Jennifer" he read the name scribbled on the book and handed it to Jenny.

"Thank you very much...." She tried getting up on her feet but couldn't, her ankle was badly sprained.

"Ouch!" she exclaimed a little

"You are hurt, can you walk?" Slade said while checking her ankle

At this point, Ginger was boiling piping hot, she couldn't stand her crush being touchy-feely with someone she considers beneath her.

"I'll try... Thank you very much" Jenny said as she tried getting up again but her attempts proved abortive.

Slade bent over and examined her ankle.

"Stop! You'll make it worse... I'll get you to the school nurse... Hold on" this is what shocked everyone the most, he carried her in bride style, took her to the school nurse all the way across the hall.

No one was expecting that at all, their jaws dropped in shock.

"That bitch was totally pretending, her ankle is fine!! She's so gonna regret this" Ginger berated.

The video of Liam being publicly humiliated by Slade went viral on every social media platform. Slade became his arch-enemy but he couldn't do much about it because Ginger his "mistress" is head over heels in love with Slade, so he's off limits.

"I'm gonna teach that bastard a lesson he will never forget!!!" Liam grumbled.

"You dumbass!! Why did you attack him in the first place??!! he's not our enemy... JENNY IS!! Plus, you're no match for him, he totally humiliated you!!!" Ginger said and rolled her eyes, popping her chewing gum.

"I'll take care of her" he growled

"You better!!" Ginger threatened.

It was lunchtime, Jenny sat alone at the "Losers table" in the back, Gary wasn't in school that day, he went to visit his sick grandma.

Jenny picked up her phone and dialled his number, on the first ring he answered.

"Hello, birthday girl..."

"Hey, knucklehead.." Jenny retorted jokingly

"Sorry I haven't called, bad cell service here, can't wait to come back, I sent so many texts!! You didn't reply to any, superstar!!"

"I'm sorry.... You know I hardly touch my phone and today... you won't even believe it" she said while twirling her fingers around her cup.

"Don't tell me.... You are throwing a birthday party without me??!!" He gasped.

"No genius, I'm serious about the no party thing"

"Then what happened, my imaginations are running wild!!"

"Remember that Australian guy, the one that sits next to Dahlia in class? Slade Wilson.."

"Yeah.... the biker dude"

"Hmm yeah him!! He defended me when Liam bullied me today, totally knocked him out!! Everyone watched!!! And that's not all.... I hurt my ankle a bit... he carried me to the school nurse!! In his arms!! Oh my God Gary, I felt like Cinderella!!"

"I can't believe I missed that!!!"

"You really missed something.... Oh my God, he's walking towards my table... I gotta go!! I'll call you later!" she whispered and quickly hung up the call.

Slade sighted her across the cafeteria and walk up to her table, all eyes were on him, especially Ginger's "Mind if I join you?" He asked politely.

She stared at him for a second, "Of course... I mean N-n-Not at all... by all means please sit down, thank you for today, you're a lifesaver" she stuttered, feeling a little shy.

He sat down and stretched, raising his arms slightly above his shoulder, clenched his fists, made his arm muscles pop "Don't mention it... I hate bullies... And honestly, I kinda enjoyed it, I haven't beaten up a fool in a while, my combat fighting isn't as rusty as I thought it would be" he scoffed while he sipped on his drink.

She tucked some of her hair behind her left ear, trying to avoid eye contact with him "You train in combat fighting?"Jenny asked

"Trained" he specified.

"Oh my God Jennerd is flirting" a girl two tables away from theirs mumbled and laughed a little.

"Cool... why did you stop" Jenny asked Slade, in continuation of their conversation.

"Personal stuff... I had a big fight, got out of control, so I stopped training and I stopped fighting as well... it's a long story" he said and suddenly looked sad

"Oh... I'm sorry if I'm being too inquisitive" she pleaded.

"Nah don't worry about it, I'm fine, this was great, here's my home and cell number, call me anytime" he slid his contact card across the table, grabbed his helmet and stood up.

"See ya around Jen.." he gave her a wink and exited the cafeteria.

The entire school became abuzz with the sudden connection between Slade and Jennifer, they called them "Slenny", an amalgamation of "Slade" and "Jenny".

Girls started waving at her when she walked by, everyone wanted to be her friend. Jenny became popular just like that, it was like magic.

Ginger's worst nightmare was brought to life, Jenny was getting more popular than her but she wasn't going to get overthrown that easy.
