kadence was born and raised in brisbane, australia. she was brought up in a fairly wealthy household with two working parents but was always taught to be mindful of her place in society and respect others, less or more fortunate. she had a fairly regular childhood and was often praised for being multi-talented and sociable by teachers, sports coaches, and family friends.

at the age of eight, when her family was on a trip into the countryside where her uncle lived, they were robbed in the middle of the night. in the commotion, one of four robbers that had broken in had shot kadence's uncle in front of her, killing him due to blood loss. ever since then, she's been sensitive to loud sounds and can often experience flashbacks or episodes of disassociation if reminded of the events.

her personality had also changed greatly after the death of her uncle. she became quieter, more closed off, and a lot more cynical towards people's intentions. the one thing that did not change but only strengthened was her want to be constantly busy and learning new things, finding new hobbies. the older she grew, the more spotless her academic career became and she was often elected for awards due to her consistent efforts and good grades. she was also involved in sports teams, and was often either captain or co-captain. despite of her closed off and averted to interaction personality, she was widely known and, for a lack of a better word, popular.

over her later academic years, her father gradually developed a problem with alcohol after having a near-death experience in a car crash. she started working a night job on top of studying when she was seventeen to help out her mother in transitioning to more working hours to support the family, and quickly experienced overall burnout. she pulled through her last year of high school and then moved out of the house at the first chance, not to escape but to become self-sufficient enough that she didn't have to rely on her mother.

she still keeps in touch, mainly speaking with her sister when she gets the chance. she occasionally checks in on her father and offers to pay for treatment with his issues, even though she knows he'll refuse each time. she speaks to her mother the least, though neither of them seem too bothered since they're both emotionally distant.
