Joshua looked at the two shirts on the bed, one blue and one white, contemplating which one to choose.

After successfully securing a deal with the Moretti siblings, Joshua decided to commemorate the victory by asking Dokyeom out on a date.

Except that wasn't the only reason he'd asked Dokyeom out on a dinner date. He had underlying plans, ones that included asking to be Dokyeom's boyfriend.

He felt it was finally time. In fact, the timing was so right.

Sure there were some issues that remained uncovered and unresolved, but they would work it out in due time, Dokyeom would confide in Joshua when he was comfortable enough to do so.

Joshua had absolutely no desire to rush him.

Contemplating for a while, Joshua decided on the white shirt and paired it with some blue pants along with a pair of freshly new white dress shoes he'd asked Vernon to buy since before now, he wasn't in possession of any.

He wasn't exactly a lover of the colour white.

Joshua gazed at his reflection in the mirror, it was certainly the brightest outfit he had ever put on. Almost like he was trying to mask his darkness and shove down his past.

His sudden thoughts made Jeonghan's words from yesterday flash through his brain. The sentence lingering in his head.

'You'll never be the victim you think you are Joshua, you can try to run and try to hide it all but you know the truth, everyone will always leave you in the end... including that little play thing of yours."

He shook his head in an attempt to disperse the thoughts and it worked temporarily, giving him enough time to take out his phone and scroll through his contacts, pressing Dokyeom's number and calling him.

You'll never be the victim you think you are.

Jeonghan's words were like a punch to the gut, they twisted Joshua's insides around, confusing him and at the same time, pissing him off.

Everyone will always leave you in the end.

Joshua took a deep breath, calming himself down while he tried to think of other things. Things that mattered. To him, Jeonghan didn't matter anymore and he never would ever again.

Anyone who betrayed Joshua became dead to him, thrown to the back of his mind where he hid all his pain.

Right now, and hopefully for the rest of Joshua's life, Dokyeom mattered the most. So that was what he had decided to focus on, Dokyeom and only Dokyeom.

"Hi love, I'm waiting outside." Dokyeom's voice was so melodic, it cheered Joshua up and lifted his mood without Dokyeom saying more than 5 words. "Mm, I'm coming out now." Joshua replied before ending the call and grabbing his coat, throwing it over his shoulder.

He gave himself one last look in the mirror before leaving the house, breathing in and breathing out.

Today was going to be amazing.

Joshua stepped out of the building, his eyes sighting Dokyeom immediately and his heart starting to beat faster as he took in Dokyeom's presence.

His heart had on a black V-neck which revealed a lot more chest than Joshua was capable of handing, black pants that fit him perfectly, showing off his plentiful curves, golden jewellery and accessories and his black dress shoes.

His hair had been swooped back in a side part, tiny strands hanging down his forehead framing his face and complimenting his keen jawline.

Joshua almost stopped breathing at the sight. Dokyeom always looked hot and tempting but today, today was different.

He looked delectable.

"Are you just going to stand there and devour me with your eyes?" Seokmin questioned, with that signature teasing edge to his voice. One that made Joshua lose all his senses.

"No, I plan on devouring you with more than just my eyes." Joshua returned the same energy as he walked closer, groping Seokmin's ass. Seokmin eyes opened in shock, a moan naturally escaping.

Joshua smirked at the power of his touch as he moved his hand up to Dokyeom's waist, dragging him closer.

"I see you like to play dirty." Seokmin's lips curved into a sly smile, his gaze remaining on Joshua. Joshua shrugged, seeming nonchalant but the victorious expression on his face said otherwise.

"Didn't I tell you before Mon Coeur?" He brought his mouth closer to Dokyeom's ears, "I don't play dirty, I am dirty."

The tension in the air was strong and dominant, almost visible as they stared into each other's eyes, their breaths mingling together.

"Sir, the convoy is ready." Vernon's voice disturbed their moment, making Joshua give him an aggressive side eye.

Dokyeom chuckled seeing Joshua's expression. "We're coming now." He turned to Vernon, relaying their not so mutual thoughts.

.............

The pair arrived at the restaurant at around 5:30, the perfect time for dinner. The restaurant was gorgeous with its purely gold and black interior, intricate kintsugi designs, draping chandeliers and decorated tables.

"Dinner reservation for Joshua Hong." Joshua informed the host whose eyes widened once he realized who he was setting his eyes on.

"Good evening Sirs." He bowed immediately before showing them the way to their table. "The VIP room you recommended is ready Sir." He communicated the information to Joshua who nodded in response.

Seokmin stifled a laugh at how scared the worker was of Joshua when Joshua wasn't even being scary, Seokmin found himself pleases at the fact that Joshua only showed his true self in front of him.

"Right this way Sir, we'll bring out your dinner menu in about 5 minutes." The host told Joshua before bowing again and rushing out of the room, straight to the kitchen.

"You must feel really powerful right now." Seokmin teased, his face in a provocative expression, one that failed to make Joshua angry, instead making him even hungrier... for the dinner of course.

"Feel? Amour, I am powerful." Joshua replied, his confidence overflowing as they sat at their table in the room dedicated to them.

Instead of being painted black, the walls were white with the same kintsugi elements and the chandelier was much longer, shining it's silver light on them.

Seokmin loved how private the date was, mostly because it gave them a chance to see each other for themselves.

Not to hide from anyone.

His hands shuffled in his pockets, fiddling with the envelope. Would it be a good idea to give Joshua the envelope now? Or would it ruin their perfectly planned date night?

In the midst of contemplating, a waitress walked into the room, catching the attention of the two. "Good evening Sirs, Chef Roland said I should find out if you wanted your desert to be ice cream or cake, or both?"

Joshua's eyes deflected to Seokmin who looked at the waitress and answered, "Both please." The lady replied with a nod before exiting the room.

"Both? Don't forget the real desert is sitting right in front of you." Joshua reminded Seokmin, a barely visible smirk pulling at his lips. Seokmin rolled his eyes before pretending to search the room.

"Where? I don't see it." He used his hands as a viser while he checked, making Joshua laugh. "You do know that you're insufferable, right?" He questioned, leaning towards Dokyeom.

"I learned from the best." Seokmin replied, staring straight into Joshua's chocolate doe-eyes that were so gentle once you melted down their tough exterior.

Joshua smiled at Dokyeom. He always had to have the last laugh, didn't he? It was a trait of his Joshua admired, along with a million others.

The door to the VIP room opened up, pushing the two apart and ending their long eye contact. The starter was served and their mouths salivated at the sight of the meal.

T-bone steak, a salad by the side and a scrumptious sauce drizzled over the two menus from top to bottom with multiple sides including rice, corn on the cob, dinner rolls and potato wedges.

The restaurant had succeeded in taking Joshua and Seokmin's eyes off each other and unto the food.

Once everything was served and arranged on the table, the waiters bowed and left the room leaving Joshua and Seokmin alone to start their meal which they did, immediately.

.............

"So Mon Coeur, what really was in that envelope?" Joshua asked naturally, even though his temperature was rising a little and his chest was starting to pound.

Seokmin paused, swallowing the food in his mouth as he remembered that the envelope was still in his pocket. "What envelope?" He pretended to not remember and Joshua swallowed down another bite.

"That beige one... the one you dragged out of my hands." Joshua's description brought the scene to the front of Seokmin's mind as he cringed at his behaviour.

"Oh... that? That was just a letter for you, it was kind of like a declaration of my love, it was really sappy so I just threw it away."

Lies. More lies. If Seokmin didn't tell the truth soon, getting caught wouldn't be the only problem.

The envelope shuffled in the pocket of his pants, alarming him as he stopped the movement of his legs.

Joshua studied Dokyeom's expression. It seemed sincere but why would he do that? Throw away a letter he wrote for Joshua?

"Why did you throw it away?" Joshua's face was clouded by worry and Seokmin couldn't stand being the one who made Joshua anxious.

"I thought it wasn't good enough for you." Seokmin replied and Joshua sighed, cutting the steak again. "I would've loved to see it."

He felt like there was still something Dokyeom wasn't telling him but he didn't want to go past his limit, everyone had boundaries and some were more secure than others.

Seokmin rubbed his eyes, a sudden wave of regret hitting him. He didn't know how much longer he could keep it from Joshua and honestly he didn't even want to.

So why was it so hard to just man up and tell him the truth?
