Y/N POV:
The clock ticked steadily in my room, its sound echoing against the polished marble walls of Heaven. It felt oddly suffocating in here, despite the bright and airy ambiance of the celestial realm. Charlie and Vaggie were packing their things, preparing to return to Hell. The weight of impending doom settled heavily on my chest. I had to do something—I couldn't just sit back and let this happen. Not after everything.
The extermination was looming over us like a dark cloud, and the pain of losing Lucifer, Charlie's father, felt like an open wound. I recalled the passion in Charlie's voice, her determination to uphold her father's legacy. But they needed allies to help fight against the council's plans, and I knew just the person who might join us: Emily.
I took a deep breath and stepped out of my room, my heart racing. I knocked on Emily's door, the sound echoing slightly in the quiet hallway.
"Y/N! Oh! Hello!" she said, her face lighting up with a warm smile that quickly faded to concern. "Do you need anything?"
"I wanted to talk about the extermination," I replied, feeling the weight of my words.
Emily's expression tensed. I knew how she felt about the extermination; the news had hit her hard during the meeting when Adam revealed it. The shock and disbelief still lingered in her eyes.
"Come in," she said softly, stepping aside to let me enter. She closed the door behind us, and we sat on her bed, a thick silence enveloping the room.
The walls were decorated with pictures of the serene landscapes of Heaven—endless fields of flowers and soft, glowing skies. But in this moment, the beauty felt tainted by the reality of our situation.
"We need to gather allies," I blurted out, breaking the silence.
"What?" Emily asked, her brow furrowed in confusion.
"If we get enough people to see what our dream is—what Charlie's dream is—maybe we can stop the extermination for good! We can still... Maybe we can still save his dream..." My voice trembled with urgency.
Emily's expression shifted, softening as she considered my words. "You loved him, didn't you?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
A heavy sigh escaped my lips. "Yes, Emily... I did love him. More than anyone could ever know. If you had been around back then, you would have seen how much I adored him. How much I cared..."
I paused, memories flooding back—moments of laughter, warmth, and a connection that felt eternal. But then, my expression hardened. "...But Heaven took all of that away from me. My only light... My only happiness. That's why we need to stop this extermination and save his dream. Are you in?"
Emily looked at me, her eyes reflecting a mixture of sadness and determination. "We have to make Sera see... We have to make her see what's right."
The resolve in her voice stirred something inside me, and I felt a flicker of hope ignite. "Right. We'll need to gather support from others too—Seraphim who care about Charlie and what her father stood for."
Emily nodded, her spirit bolstered. "But we have to be careful. The council won't take kindly to dissenters. If they catch wind of our plans..."
"I know," I interrupted, the weight of fear settling in again. "But we can't let that stop us. We have to be smart about this."
Emily stood up and began pacing the small room, her thoughts racing. "What if we started with the ones who are close to Sera? If we can sway them, it might convince her to take action."
I thought about her words. "That's a good idea. We could approach Zeke and Felicity—they've always been a bit skeptical about the council's methods."
Emily paused, her eyes lighting up with realization. "And there's Leon! He's known for speaking out against the council in private. If we can get him on our side, it could really tip the scales."
"Perfect," I said, feeling a surge of excitement. "Let's meet with them tomorrow. We need to strategize on how to get them on board."
The tension in the air shifted, the dark cloud of despair giving way to a flicker of optimism. Emily's determination matched my own, and for the first time in a while, I felt like we might stand a chance.
"I'll talk to Zeke and Felicity," Emily offered. "You can reach out to Leon. I have a feeling he'll want to help once he hears what's going on."
"Agreed. We'll meet back here later to share what we find out."
As I stood to leave, Emily placed a hand on my shoulder. "Y/N, I believe in this. We can't let Heaven—or anyone—take away what we love."
Her words resonated within me, fueling my resolve. "We're going to make them see," I promised, determination settling in my heart.
I left her room, my mind racing with possibilities. Each step down the pristine hallway felt lighter, as if I were shedding the weight of despair with every stride.
The sun was beginning to set outside, casting golden rays across the beautifully manicured gardens of Heaven. I found a quiet spot to think, the soft sounds of nature wrapping around me.
"Alright, Leon," I whispered to myself, "let's see what you think about all this."
I took a deep breath and prepared to face the unknown. Approaching Leon would require courage; he was known for his sharp wit and sharp tongue, and he didn't mince words. But if there was anyone who could see the value in fighting back, it was him.
I found Leon sitting on a bench beneath a flowering tree, engrossed in a book. The petals fluttered down like soft rain around him. He looked up as I approached, an eyebrow raised in curiosity.
"Hey, Y/N. What's got you looking so serious?" he asked, closing his book.
"Leon, we need to talk," I said, my voice steady despite the apprehension swirling in my gut.
"Sounds ominous," he replied, leaning back and crossing his arms. "What's on your mind?"
I took a seat beside him, glancing around to ensure no one was listening in. "It's about the extermination. I know you've heard the council's plans."
His expression shifted, his playful demeanor replaced by a hard edge. "Yeah, I've heard. What of it?"
I could see the flicker of defiance in his eyes. "I'm not going to let this happen. We need to fight back."
Leon's interest piqued, and he leaned in. "Go on."
"Charlie and Vaggie are gathering allies to stand against the council. We believe that if enough of us unite, we can change their minds—or at the very least, make them think twice about what they're planning."
Leon considered my words, his gaze distant. "And what do you need from me?"
"I need your voice, Leon. You're respected among the Seraphim. If you can convince a few of them to join us, it could make a huge difference."
He rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "You think I can sway them just like that?"
"Absolutely. You've always been someone who speaks out against injustice. If anyone can rally the troops, it's you," I urged.
Leon chuckled softly. "You really believe that, huh? I admire your passion. But have you thought about the consequences if we fail?"
I nodded, the weight of that fear settling over me once more. "I have. But what's the alternative? To sit back and watch while they destroy lives? We have to fight for those who can't."
His gaze softened slightly, and I saw the flicker of agreement in his eyes. "You make a compelling argument. Alright, I'm in. But we need a solid plan. Just saying we're going to revolt won't cut it."
"Agreed. We're meeting with Emily and a few others tomorrow to strategize. The more we discuss, the better prepared we'll be."
Leon stood up, a confident smile spreading across his face. "Count me in. I'm tired of sitting back while the council runs rampant. They need to know we won't be silenced."
As we walked back, I felt a sense of accomplishment. I had gathered one more ally, and with Leon's support, I knew we could reach even more.
Later that evening, I met back with Emily in her room. She was pacing, her face lit up with excitement.
"I spoke with Zeke and Felicity, and they're on board! They want to help," she exclaimed, her eyes sparkling.
"Really? That's amazing!" I said, feeling the momentum shift in our favor. "And Leon agreed to join us as well. This is turning into something real."
Emily's smile widened, and she clapped her hands together. "We're actually doing this! It feels so good to finally take action."
"But we have to be careful," I reminded her. "The council will be watching. We can't afford any slip-ups."
"Right," she agreed, her expression sobering. "We need to be strategic about how we approach this. The meeting tomorrow will be crucial."
