Chapter Eight: Heal

Bang. I heard someone smack up against a headset rest than a slight pop of a bone. That frightened me. Then I heard another crash immediately following that; it was the sound of glass breaking. I whip my head from Delilah to Flynn, then back straight again. Delilah's eyes were fixated on a point somewhere off in the distance. I didn't see them for long, however, since they closed shut, her long lashes drooped on her freckled covered cheeks. She fell back into the tan seat and let her arms dangle. Okay, at least we're not upside down.
Flynn, on the other hand, was already unconscious. Other than his head leaning a little too far down on his shoulder and cuts on his cheeks, he looked as if he was sleeping, comfortably. His hair was swooped back messily, but it was neatly styled.
Once I turn back facing the forest, Delilah's car had rolled into, my eyes widen with realization. Why am I not unconscious? Or even hurt? This was a bad wreck, right? It has to be otherwise why are Delilah and Flynn passed out?
Then, another large wave of realization hit me dead in the face. I need to help them! I turned to my right and unbuckled as fast as I could. I swung open the door and stepped onto the tall, green grass. Watching my step I wander over to the passenger side and I carefully open Delilah's door. Even though I'm panicking on the inside I try to remain calm.
Once the door opens I can finally get a good look at the situation. There doesn't seem to be any bleeding just a large area of swelling on the back of her head. I huge wave of relief sweeps over me, there's no internal swelling. I brush my hand against my now drenched forehead, covered in rainwater and sweat. I lean Delilah's head forward to get a better look at the swelling, then I softly lay it back.
"Okay, um. What do I do now? Probably call 911." I reach for my back pocket for my phone, I feel nothing. I tred back through the tall grass over to the driver's side to look for. Still nothing. I look everywhere and there's nothing! "Oh no. It probably fell out when the car crashed. Crap."
I run over to Flynn and open his door to check on him. He's still unconscious and he has cuts on his cheek from the window glass. I try to wipe some of the blood way, some fresh and some dry. Laying my head down on his chest I notice something dreadful. His heart doesn't make a sound.
Tears stream down my cheeks. I fall to the cold, hard ground on my knees. Why? Why is this happening again? Why me?
I finally have the strength to stand again. Reaching for his face, I lay my hand upon his cheek. When I lift it away the scars and cuts on that cheek are gone. It's not puffy or red, they're just gone! I place my palm against the other cheek and once again they're gone.
I run around to the other side of the car and hop in, sliding next to Flynn. I wrap my arms around his torso, one on his head and the other on his chest. My hand starts rising and falling. "He's breathing! He's breathing!" I scream with excitement. Hugging Flynn tighter, I see his fingers starting to wiggle. I move my hand down from Flynn's head to his hand. It clasps around mine, my hand does the same
Flynn's face begins to light up again with color. His eyes flutter and eventually open. When I look into his amber eyes I feel so comforted. He smiles at me. I follow.
_______
We embrace for what feels like forever, but then I remember... "Delilah!" Flynn barely knows the situation. "I have to go help her. Come on!"
I slide out of the car and run over to the passenger seat. She still sits dormant, at least her heart is still beating. I place my hands on her head and close my eyes. I think hard and concentrate. Flynn's hands on my shoulder, supporting me. I tell him, "you should go sit down, I've got this."
He wanders back up to where he was sitting and flops down. My mind, however, is still fixated on healing Delilah.
Something grasps my left arm, I jump back in shock. But when I open my eyes it's only Delilah letting me know if she's okay. My arms clasp around her and we hug in relief. "I'm so glad to see your bright smile again."
"Me too." Gratitude laces Delilah's voice.
Flynn wraps around us, holding us in his arms. It feels so amazing to be back, interacting with them.
_______
We all sit in the back, watching out for the fallen glass. I finally wrapped up the courage to break the silence, "so I'm sure that you all are aware of the events that just took place. However, I'm not sure how they happened." I try to sound sophisticated like I have control of the situation.
"Well," Flynn says this in an awkward tone, "you, literally, brought me back to life. The only explanation for this is..."

What's up Buttercups? Sorry that it's been awhile since I've posted, I've been working on The Golden Awards. I think that once I hit 300 reads I'll do a chapter for the three main characters' aesthetics. I'm super excited and I've already them planned out! Oh and also, sorry I keep changing the cover of Empyreal it's just I'm not satisfied with the old ones, but I like this one.
Here's the Word of the Chapter

Intrepid-
(adj.) brave in the face of danger

This really describes Celeste in this chapter. She was very strong and brave even if her friends could have died.
