57. dates

Matts alarm went off, the two of them groan in bed, too tired to get out. Matt hugged her from behind, kissing her shoulder and back. Devon did not want him to let go and leave. She just kept him for a good 10 minutes before he actually had to go to work.

"Don't forget about tonight." My voice was raspy and low from how tired I was. I watched him get dressed from the bed. "Can you pick up a bottle a wine when you come back?"

"For you, anything." Matt kisses me as he pulls away to get his shoes on. I got up, grabbing his shirt from the floor and got his coffee ready. I played some music, scrolling through media. I poured the coffee for him and ran to help him tie his tie. "I totally forgot to tell you this." I stopped him from walking out of the shared apartment, stepping on my tippy toes and my hands on his arms. "You are not feeling too well and the only way to cure it is to stay here with me and lay in bed, possibly naked and-" he kisses my lips, smirking.

"Nice try." He kisses me again. He walks to the door and opens it. "Tempting, but no." He chuckles as he leaves. I swayed around the apartment with the music and sighed, peace and quiet.

I cleaned the house, lit candles, played some smooth songs i found on Rivers playlist, set up the table. Matt comes home and I greeted him.

"Smells amazing, i could smell it a block away." He kisses me hello. "As you requested." He hands me the bottle of wine.

"Red, you really want me to seduce you tonight." I head to the table and place it in the middle. Matt comes from behind, hugging me. I threw my head back onto his shoulder. "We cant, they are on their way."

"They can wait." I pushed away and laughed as I went to get ready. I wore a light purple dress, hair up in a messy ponytail but it was cute and i did my makeup, shocking. I thought it would be cute and fun to do. "They're heading up." I pressed my lips to mix my lipstick together.

"Its creepy when you eavesdrop." I patted his face. We waited as they knocked. Foggy and Marci wanted to do a fun little couples night, dinner at ones place, drinks, even go bowling. It was nice to spend some time with them, something new. We all smiled, shared hugs and kisses. "Marci!"

"Ah Devon!" She hugs me. She takes a moment to look at me. "You are absolutely gorgeous tonight. You didn't have to show off, making me so jealous." She made me blush.

"Stop it, Marci. You look stunning always." We head to the kitchen to get some drinks. The boys went on about work. "Uhhh can we leave work for just tonight?" I said as I handed Matt his drink. "All this work makes me feel-"

"Draining." Marci finishes. They boys laughed.

"Let me bring out dinner, sit, please." Matt helped me carry out some things and I carried the main dish.

"You really outdid yourself Dev, you really shouldn't have." Foggy smiles at me.

"Oh please, this is nothing. Now that I have free time, I'm happy to cook." I pulled out my chair, we filled our plates and chatted more, laughing away, Foggy, being Foggy.

"Oh! Devon, Foggy told me you do ballet." Marci sips on her wine.

"Yes, ive been doing it since i was little, still do whenever i get the chance. Maybe one day I can take you."

"That would be great! A little girls day wouldn't hurt." We continued into the late night, Foggy and Marci having to leave to beat some traffic. We paid our respects and then we cleaned, i was on washing dishes duty and Matt was on drying duty. In the middle of cleaning, Matt would pull me to dance with him, swaying to the soft music.

"This is nice." I hummed to his lips. "This life, this non vigilante life is nice."

"Everything is nice when I'm with you." We finished up and sat down to watch a movie. As we sat there, the bored we got. "I do hear something about the docks transporting people from Turk." He suggested. I looked at him.

"We should go have a look." We raced to our room, dressing in our suits and jumping out of the window. We raced to see who would get there first, of course it was him, all his flips and shortcuts made him win. We met at too of the roof, looking down at the people with guns and rifles. Turk and his mouth. "You cheated."

"Just because I know the city more than you doesn't mean I cheated."

"Just a little." I saw the boat comes in. Show time. "Whoever gets the least men down, gets to take Rush out for a walk." I jumped down, Matt laughing as he followed me. I grabbed one mans from his station, tasing him and going for the other one, but Matt comes up. "Show off." I scuffed.

"I was thinking of going to that new Italian place down the street from the shop, i can take you there after work." He punches the men as they came after us.

"I do like a good cannoli." I tased another one as I jumped on his shoulders, falling forward and rolling myself to the ground.

"Heard the wine selection is good too." He kicks one.

"You know the way to my heart." I punched the last guy. I looked around at the unconscious men. "I won." I skipped to the boat, Matt laughing as he walked behind me. The transportation container was locked so I shot at it and opened to reveal a 4 children, hiding behind each other and scared. I backed away, remembering the horror.

"They're just kids." He gasps, realizing why couldn't he pick this up with his hearing.

"Get Mahoney." She pats his chest. I put my hands up, showing the kids i am not a threat. "Hello, we're here to protect you. We are not going to hurt you." I kneeled down to a little girl holding a stuffed bunny. "Who did this to you?" She shakes her head. "Its okay. Nothing will happen to you, not when I'm here."

"He was looking for his new solider." The boy said to me. A few minutes later, the police came, Matt and i hid in the shadows to talk to Mahoney.

"They are pretty shaken up, they will be in the hospital until further notice." Mahoney sighs as he rubs his forehead. "Who the hell transports 4 kids here?"

"The boy told me that a man was looking for his new solider." I told him as I crossed my arms.

"What? Are we dealing with a new winter soldier or what?" I just shrugged.

"Whatever it is, why children." I watched as they sent the kids into ambulances.

"Keep me posted if you find anything, ill do this same." Mahoney leaves. I couldn't pull my eyes away from the little girl with the bunny. Matt puts his hand on my back.

"Whats wrong?"

"Just a trip on memory lane." I closed my eyes. Flashes of Natasha, Yelena and I huddled together and the other dozens of girls in the small containers like the one they arrived in, going to Dreykov. "Just glad we found them in time."
