Chapter thirteen; The Ministry of Magic

<=>

Harry continued to walk as if he had shit his knickers, plodding awkwardly down the long twisting corridor while they tired to find Umbridge's office. Olivia kept as close as she physically could to Harry, not too fond of wandering stray and losing him in the maze that was the Ministry. She came as close as she could, attempting to reach his persons ear but struggling with the height difference, "Harry?" She whispered faintly.

Harry looked on but replayed discreetly, trying not to move his mouth, "What?"

"Why are you walking like you've shit yourself?"

"What?" He repeated.

"You're walking like you've shit yourself." She pointed out nonchalantly.

Harry turned his head fractionally to his left to move closer to Olivia, "How else am I supposed to walk?"

"Like I normal person who doesn't look like they've shit themselves."

"Alright." Harry whispered hotly, "Just stop saying I'm walking like I've shit myself."

"You got it."

They kept walking until they found the pamphlets workplace where Umbridge's office was stationed inside. There just over a hundred witches sat with dead eyes flicking pamphlets from one table to another monotonously. Olivia curiously strayed slightly from Harry and walked cautiously over to where the pamphlets were being laid to rest at the end station. Its front cover read; 'Mudbloods and the danger they pose.'

It made Olivia want to laugh at how pathetic it was. The irony was too much. It wasn't the Muggles or who were a danger, they weren't some toxic monsters, it was them. The witches and wizards were the danger, especially the ones working on taking over the world and driving the Muggle population to extinction. What made it all the more confusing was how could they not see that without Muggles, the wizarding population would die out. It was inevitable, and here they were trying to turn the world against them with their stupid idealistic values.

They even turned on some Half-Bloods, which was actually morally wrong. That was what was the most fucked up issue, because even Voldemort himself was a Half-Blood. He wasn't even a Pureblood like those who scurried around after him and he had the audacity to class people of the same blood status as himself as filth. The likes of Bellatrix Lestrange and Lucius Malfoy found Half-Bloods filthy when their own Lord was of that blood status. Even Bellatrix had said so herself when she called upon Harry for being so in the Department of Mysteries.

Pulling away from her state of loathing, Olivia drew her attention back over to Harry. A group of wizards were wizzing past him at an alarmingly fast rate, leaving her to wonder where they were off to in such a hurry. She began to walk back over to him and settled besides his person when the last had ran past. About to ask him a question she caught herself when she looked to the plaque nailed to the back wooden door in front of her.

'DOLORES UMBRIDGE
SENIOR UNDERSECRETARY TO THE MINISTER'

"Undersecretary?" Olivia whispered uncertain.

"I have no idea." Harry replied.

Olivia looked further down and recoiled back in shock, "Is thatโ€”?"

"โ€”Mad-Eye's eye?" Harry interjected. He nodded his head.

Olivia gulped, "That's .. um, that's disturbing on so many levels."

Harry nodded again and she looked to the second plaque under Mad-Eye's eye where it read;

'HEAD OF THE MUGGLE-BORN REGISTRATION COMMISSION.'

Again she gulped, "And Hermione left with her." Next to her Harry turned to face the workers and scan his surroundings. He then pulled the Decoy Detonator, a brilliant product of the Weasley twins, out of his pocket and discreetly dropped it onto the floor and waiting for its affects.

Olivia watched it as it materialised into another and then another from that, until they were sprouting from ten different ones. They kept materialising until they exploded, a dirty brown power firing up into the air with the sound of an air horn following. In a second the witches were up and out of their seats in a crazed panic, pamphlets went up into the air and they had created the perfect distraction. Harry pushed Umbridge's office door open and held it for Olivia to run in under the cloak before closing it.

Besides the sound of the detonators still exploding outside Olivia could hear the meowing of cats when she pulled the cloak around her shoulders to let her head out for air. An unwanted sense of deja vu rippled though her hearing the incessant sound of various cats meowing. Along with Harry she pulled out her wand as the boy called for the locket, "Accio locket."

Nothing came after the summoning spell had been cast and Olivia turned to Harry in the silence, "Is my hair still blonde?"

In Alberts body, Harry pulled a face of uncertainty, "No, it looks like it can't decide whether it wants to be black or blonde. It looks like a dye gone wrong."

Olivia grabbed the end of her waves and looked to see the horrid colour that had taken place in the midst of the spell wearing off, "Brilliant." She mumbled before pointing her wand on herself, "Colovaria." Her hair returned fully blonde again, but this time too blonde and she swore horrified.

Harry turned to see what she had done and a look of horror washed over his face when he saw just how blonde her hair had turned, "Your hair .. it's likeโ€”"

"Don't say it," She cringed, absolutely mortified, "I know."

Harry said it anyways, "It's the same colour as Malfoy's."

She whimpered before releasing a tearless sob, "Merlin I hope this wears off." She mumbled, "Come on, let's look around before someone comes." She ushered, moving further into the dark office and over to a large filing cabinet.

Harry went searching through the drawers of Umbridge's desk and it wasn't long before he called her over, "Olivia, look at this." He said.

Olivia dropped the pamphlet she had found and closed the drawer she had open before walking over to Harry and peering over his shoulder, "Are those files?" Olivia asked.

"I think so, look." Harry replied, pointing to the file on top. A full portrait photograph of Arthur Weasley was attached to his file and Olivia glanced over what was written underneath. She held her hand out for the file and Harry passed it over to her and looked over the next one. Mad-Eye Moody stood except his photograph had a large red cross over it. Harry passed it along and then came across a file under Hermione's name.

"Oh Merlin." Olivia mumbled when she saw it. Unlike the two previous files there were a few photos of her, most of them having looked like they had been taken inside Hogwarts as she stood in her uniform laughing. Harry passed it along and she lifted up one of the photos curiously to see something stamped across it, "Harry." She said, reading the red stamp where the word 'TRACKED' sat.

They met each other's gaze for a short moment, their eyes filled with confusion before they looked down to the next file. Olivia swallowed deeply when a photo of her father came up with the same red cross drew through it, "Why does she have a file on dad?" She wondered out loud, "He's been dead for over a year."

Harry passed her the file so she could flick through it while he looked to the last one. Albus Dumbledore, again had a cross through his photo and a sad smile formed on Harry's face. Olivia noticed that stamped across Sirius file was the word 'DECEASED'.

"Alright, alright lets calm down." A mans voice spoke from outside. The two teens looked to the door simultaneously before looking to each other.

"We've got to get out of here." Olivia said quickly, handing the files back to Harry and pulling the cloak back over her head. The boy returned them to the original place and they ventured quickly for the door, "Let's get back to work please." Harry held the door open for her and she stepped out in front of him, it closed not a minute later and the room fell silent, "Lets get back to work." The same man spoke before turning to face Harry's person and frowning.

He was a chunky bloke, completely bald on the top of his head but greyish hair sat around the sides still. His face twisted into confusion as he looked to Harry's person as they stood there, "Runcorn?" The man asked curiously of Harry. Again, awkwardly Harry turned and began his decent back in the direction they had just traveled in, walking awfully slow and like he had something in his pants.

Olivia's eyes closed in exasperation as she watched him trod away slowly. She shook her head to herself and followed after him under the protection of the invisibility cloak. She remained quiet until they were alone in the elevator and then smacked Harry's arm, "Ow Olivia, what?" He scolded.

"You're still walking like you've had a shit!" She whisper shouted, "Harry you obviously have no clue what you look like but it's quite frigging obvious!"

"Shh." Harry said quickly as someone else trodded into the elevator. They were soaked, dripping wet from head to toe and looked miserable as sin. Olivia recoiled at first, pushing herself as far into the corner of the lift she could and held her breath.

"Morning." The man mumbled and she released her breath.

"Ron?" She asked, knitting her brows together.

The man was Reg Cattermole or Ron Weasley in disguise and he whipped round quicker than a lightning strike to the direction in which Olivia's voice had traveled.

"Olivia?"

"Ron it's me." Harry chirped in next.

"Harry!" Ron visibly relaxed, "Blimey, I forgot what you looked like."

"I dunno how." Olivia mumbled, "It's not the easiest face to forget."

"Where's Hermione?" Ron asked of them.

"She's gone down to the courtrooms," Harry replied, "With Umbridge."

<=>

As soon as they approached the courtrooms Olivia felt cold, as if something was drowning her body from everything. They were in an eerie place and she thanked Merlin she hadn't the need to of been held there before, "Bloody cold down here." Ron mumbled.

"You just read my mind." Olivia said, looking around. Her attention was drawn to voices in front of them as two guards dragged an old looking wizard down the corridor they were walking up. They stopped to stare as they passed and Harry forcefully pulled Ron to start walking again. They approached the courtroom Umbridge was in and a horrible ringing voice filled Olivia's ears.

"Mary Elizabeth Cattermole." Umbridge spoke, "Of 27 Chislehurst Gardens, Great Tolling, Eversham?"

"It's here." Harry said, looking around them. Olivia's ears continued to ring, a noice much like a fading high-pitched scream. She saw Hermione sat by Umbridge and the woman's cat patronus walking around and traveling up to the ceiling where it barricaded Dementors.

"Mother to Maisie, Ellie and Alfred, wife to Reginald?" Umbridge continued.

Olivia's breath faulted in her throat as she looked to Umbridge again while she spoke. She caught sight of a necklace around her neck and cursed her entire existence sensing the familiarity it held, "Harry, is that it? Around Umbridge's neck?"

"Regi?" A quivering voice called out to them and Olivia noticed it to be Mary Cattermole. She had spotted Harry and Ron in the corridor. Harry again, grabbed the side of Ron's jacket and shoved him forwards when he posed no sign of moving forwards. She hid behind Harry taking slow and cautious steps.

"Thank you Alfred." Umbridge thanked and Olivia took the time to look around. She saw Yaxley slumped in a chair with a smug expression lining his lips, "Mary Elizabeth Cattermole a wand was taken from you upon your arrival at the Ministry this morning. Mrs Cattermole is this that wand?" Umbridge spoke quickly and held up a wand. She nodded, "Would you please tell the court from which witch or wizard you took this wand."

"I didn't take it. I got it from Diagon Alley from Ollivanders when I was eleven. It chose me."

"You're lying." Umbridge said simply as the Horcrux continued to ring in Olivia's ears. Harry moved away from her and took to walking slowly around the back of Ron a hateful glare on his face, "Wands choose witches only and you are not a witch."

"But I am. Tell them Reg, tell them what I am."

Ron failed to answer, too busy staring up at Umbridge's smug smirk she wore on her face. Harry dropped his wand from up his sleeve when he stopped to the right of Ron and Umbridge looked to him, "What an earth are you doing Albert?"

Olivia held her breath and looked over to Hermione who seemed to be doing the same. She withdrew her own wand and readied herself to take off the cloak incase a fight was started. Watching Harry carefully Olivia peeled the cloak off herself as his face started to distort, "You're lying Dolores and one must not tell lies."

Olivia gulped, pulling off the cloak and firing at Umbridge, "Sectumsempra!" She swore after the curse had been fired and held her breath. She had meant to fire Stupefy but instead fired that one. Umbridge deflected it quickly but not in time for Harry's incoming one as he stunned her. She fell into the back of her chair and Hermione quickly reached up and grabbed the locket from around her neck as Ron stunned Yaxley.

Umbridge's patronus broke and Dementors came down from where they had been restricted in the ceiling. Hermione tossed the Horcrux to Olivia as she bundled the cloak up over her arm. Harry put his glasses on and ran for Olivia, taking her arm and pulling her out.

"Why did you do that?!" He scolded.

"I don't know! I didn't even realise what I'd done until it fired!" She defended as Ron and Hermione still undercover trailed behind them with Mary Cattermole. They ran to the elevator and closed them quickly, the Dementors right behind them. Harry shielded them, his arms reaching to cover them as the Dementors started to pry away at their souls.

Olivia lifted her wand, "Expecto Patronum!" Olivia's dragon patronus squeezed through the safety gates on the elevator and pushed the Dementors away quickly, landing where they came from with an echoing thud and a shake.

The elevator started moving again and Hermione came next, the potion wore off just as they approached The Atrium. And when they stepped out of the elevator, Olivia's hair turned back to black once more. The elevator dinged and opened for the five to step out of, Harry, Hermione and Olivia all with their heads down while Ron walked freely with Mary clinging to his shoulder.

Once out into the foyer Ron stopped and took Mary by the shoulders, "Mary, go homeโ€”" Olivia had noticed the lack of Ron first and stopped, turning to face him where he stood. Harry and Hermione stopped after her and came back to her side, "What is he doing?" Hermione asked.

Olivia sighed, "Getting us killed, that's what." They watched as Mary kissed who she thought was her husband and Olivia swallowed distastefully. What made matters worse was that the Polyjuice Potion for Ron had wore off during the kiss and Mary pulled away to see a teenage boy opposite her in place of her husband. She pulled away shocked and Ron looked to them with a pleading glance.

A man stepped in between the three and Olivia noticed him to be wearing little clothing. "Fuck." She cursed under her breath, seeing the light ginger hair. It was the real Reg Cattermole, which meant Mafalda and Albert would be right behind him.

"Mary, who's that?"

"Long story." Ron stuttered, "Nice meeting you." He ran towards them as their plan continued to crumble in the worst way.

"It's Harry Potter." Someone recognised and Olivia looked bewildered to them.

She shook her head as he said his name again and pushed Harry from behind her, "No, no it's not."

"Olivia Black?" Someone else recognised.

"Run." She shouted as Ministry guards noticed them and began to run in their direction after them.

She followed behind Harry, running through the heavy crowd and shoving into people she didn't know. They ran around the fountain as strong blasts hit it above their heads. They all ducked on instinct and Olivia looked behind her numerous times to see who the sender was. "It's Yaxley!" She shouted to them confused, "How does he have a wand?! I snapped his in June!"

They ducked again, "It doesn't matter." Ron called to her over the chaos.

With his wand Harry knocked a big stack of papers flying and Olivia took the short time to turn and run backwards, "Impedimenta! Confringo!" She shouted, aiming for nothing and hoping she'd hit Yaxley. She tuned back around and continued to run, pushing her legs to go faster. Another blast hit above them as they ran to the fireplaces ready for disapparation.

Starting from the top, gold metal bars closed the fireplaces. They stopped anyone from getting in and out. The four had to run faster to reach a fireplace in time and had to duck again as another blast hit just above their heads. Harry ran in first and disapparated up into the fireplace and Olivia reached it next. Instead of running in she waited and watched as Hermione passed her and Ron running after them.

Only running after Ron was Yaxley and he was barely five feet away from Ron.

Olivia held out her hand for Ron and clasped around it at the earliest opportunity. She pulled him into the fireplace and fished for Hermione's hand but something pulling on her hand that she had wrapped around Ron's distracted her.

She felt incredible pain, her body being twisted and turned into nothingness. She couldn't breathe as iron bars tightened around her chest and constricted her movements. She had one thought during the painful process; they would be lucky to make it out in one piece.

I'm lost with this book at the moment, trying to tie up five chapters without rushing them is a lot more difficult than it's seems. I've got just under an hour left of the move to write although I don't plan on having Olivia involved in some parts of the storyline.

Aside that, I hope you enjoyed this overly long and boring chapter. The next will probably tug on your heart strings a little, so a heads up.
