Chapter nine; On the run

<=>

Time slowed drastically as the patronus of Kingsley Shacklebolt disappeared into the air. And even after if had gone Olivia still found herself staring into the space it had been in disbelief. She thought they had a few more weeks at the latest, she didn't expect the Ministry to fall this early nor did she expect it to happen on the night of Bill and Fleur's wedding. Olivia wasn't ready for what they were now facing, she wasn't ready to go on the run after she had unfinished business and unsettled arguments.

Goosebumps covered her entire body for the second time that night as she whispered ever so faintly under her breath, "Oh Merlin it's happening." At that point she lifted her eyes to see guests already falling into shock, already disapparating in a bid to save themselves. Her eyes first locked with Arthur Weasley who's eyes where filled with a mix of fear and determination, a detrimental combination. And so Olivia fixed her own gaze, feeling her heart beat rise in her chest.

She searched for her mother, for Remus, for Tonks, Charlie, Alissa, anyone but in the mess found no one. Panicked she twirled around in her own circle, looking for anyone. She knew she wouldn't find them and so prepared herself for what was coming, clenching her jaw tightly shut. The first cloud of darkness broke though the tent and barely had the time to land on its feet before Olivia fired a curse in their direction.

She was the first to fire, and admittedly didn't give a shit. These insufferable bastards had the audacity to attack on the night where everyone was most vulnerable. It was cowardly and unjust, and Olivia hated acts of that sort. She remembered Alex's words and allowed this new part of her mind to push everything to one side, she wanted to explore how well it controlled her to fight under times like these.

One after the other came and carnage raised within seconds. Olivia found spells firing from her wand consecutively, one after the other at an impressive speed. She fired on those who fired on them, and showed no mercy. A Death Eater had landed right in front of Alissa a little ways over where he smirked sinisterly at her. It was evident Alissa was unarmed and in no fit state to arm herself either.

She took her stance, placing her left foot in front of her right and raised her right arm, her wand pointing directly over Alissa's shoulder and towards the Death Eater, "Sectumsempra." She yelled in rage, watching as the Death Eater collapsed backwards into a table. Alissa turned to face Olivia with wide and terrified eyes, she found Fleur less than a meter from her and ran forwards grabbing the brides wrist and dragging her over to Alissa. She shoved the two together and ushered them away, "Go!" She yelled.

"I can't leave Bill!" Fleur yelled.

Olivia turned around, hearing a curse being cast behind them. It approached too fast for her to deflect but she tired nevertheless, barely stopping it from hitting them. She fired her own back, "Stupefy!" She turned back to them, "Fleur for fuck sakes, go! Both of you need to leave, you can't protect yourselves!"

Fleur tried to argue, "Yes Iโ€”"

"For the love of Merlin, go!" She shouted over the chaos, the two women disapparated not a second later.

Olivia searched for Harry next, looking for the chosen one amongst the crowd. They needed to get out of there, and they needed to do it quickly. She found him with Remus and decided upon killing two birds with one stone. Remus was holding Harry back from reaching Ginny and Olivia took his hand in hers, pulling them away and towards Ron and Hermione, "The both of you, go!" Remus shouted over the noise.

"Look after them!" Olivia shouted back, ducking as a curse was cast over her head.

"With my life, now go! And be careful!" He shouted after them, pushing them in the direction of Ron and Hermione. Harry and her turned, only to be faced with another Death Eater waiting for them. It seemed out of the three, Olivia was the quickest to react and lifted her wand. She absentmindedly fired without a second thought, "Avada Kedavra!"

As quickly as she said it she regretted it.

Watching the deadly green flash emit from the tip of her wand, flying directly to the Death Eater and then hitting him square in the chest. He fell to the ground lifeless and Olivia raised a shaking hand of cover her horrified face. Her feet were stuck to the ground and Harry, along with the help of Remus had to push her along the way. Harry dragged her with all his might, walking directly past the man Olivia had murdered where she stared at his blank and stif face.

"Olivia come on!" Hermione screamed, watching Harry fight to pull her from her horrified stance. It was no use, she was transfixed and he had to stop. He took her arms in his hands tightly and gripped them, shaking her body viciously. Olivia's eyes were still fixated on the dead body beside her before she miraculously tore her gaze away. He met Harry's wide and frantic eyes.

"We need to leave Olivia. Now!" Harry shouted over the mess to her. Wordlessly she nodded her head, knowing it was all she could do. So she forced one heeled foot in front of the other and pushed herself towards Ron's open arm, instantly regretting her choice in footwear that night.

With one final look behind her shoulder she met Remus gaze for what could've possibly been the last time. The future was so unpredictable, even to a sort of seer like her. Olivia's facial expression rattled Remus to the core, and he himself was already previously shocked having watched her unknowingly cast the killing curse on someone. Olivia's eyes were abnormally wide, and her lips were parted slightly but nevertheless she still posed a question through her eyes.

'Promise me they'll be safe.'

Remus nodded his head once before turning on his back and continuing the fight. Olivia turned around and fell into Ron's chest, not expecting to meet them so quickly. Ron wrapped his arm around her waist, Harry re-adjusted his grip on her hand and he took Hermione's in his other. And just like that, quicker than they had come together, they were leaving, disappariting away from the travesty that had been caused.

Their landing was unsteady and the first thing Olivia picked up upon when she stumbled was the heavy sound of traffic and people around them, when she opened her eyes she saw the light engulfing them and finally she caught the big, red double decker bus driving straight for them. They had landed in the middle of the road in what looked like the heart of London.

Olivia's mouth opened to speak but nothing came, just silence as she choked on air. As the bus drew nearer it blared its horn, leaving a pounding in Olivia's ears. She braced herself for impact, closing her eyes tightly but instead felt her body being pulled sideways. Olivia stumbled again, tripping over the height of her heels and fell into Ron's chest as they squeezed against a black railing lining the path while watching the London bus whiz past them.

She released a breath she never even knew she was holding, "Fuck me." They all stood for a minute, breathing heavily while trying to control the adrenaline pumping through their veins. But Olivia's focus was overcoming what she had done in that tent.

Hermione, as always, was the first composed and pulled Olivia, Harry and Ron to follow her off the main road. Olivia didn't dare drop Ron's hand and so clutched to it tightly as they turned onto the busy path lined with Muggles. Hermione stormed up the path, weaving in and out of the busy crowds of people while the other three hurried to keep up with her. Olivia stopped momentarily and slipped her heels off, knowing she'd have better luck in keeping up with Hermione with them off. She threw them to the side somewhere and pulled Ron to cover the distance they'd lost.

"Where are we?" Ron asked from behind her slightly breathless.

"Shaftesbury Avenue." Hermione said, "I used to come here all the time with mum and dad. I don't know why I thought of it, it just popped into my head."

"Anywhere was better than there Hermione." Olivia said, catching up with her and Harry as they turned off into a side street. They followed it down, constantly checking over their shoulders and watching their backs until they were alone in a lit up alley way.

Hermione started to untie her bag, "We need to change." She said, tucking into a small gap in the wall where a pair of shutters were. She handed her bag to Ron and stuck her full arms length in while Olivia rubbed her arms and looked around them.

Ron muttered something inaudible under his breath and Hermione turned to look at him, wrapping a long sleeved t-shirt around her arm and shoving it in his chest, "Undetectable extension charm." She answered, handing Harry a jacket.

"You're amazing you are." Ron said, a smitten look on his face that pulled at Olivia's broken heartstrings.

Hermione rolled her eyes, passing Olivia a pair of jeans, "Always the tone of surprise."

"Thanks." Olivia muttered, hearing the sound of things falling from inside the bag. She looked up to Hermione and they both cringed.

"Ah, that'll be the books." Hermione said. Ron and Harry both stopped to stare at each other as Olivia slipped her jeans on, being careful not to show her knickers.

"Don't just stand there, get changed." She told Harry and Ron.

The four found a small cafe on a side street a little ways away from the main streets to take shelter in while they figured out their first move. It wasn't very modern, quite dirty looking actually but it proved best for the four to hide in for the time being. It however seemed that there wasn't much planning going on, only Harry worrying about those they left at the wedding, "What about all the people at the wedding? Shouldn't we go back?"

From next to him Olivia shook her head and leaned down to rest it on her folded arms, "Trust me Harry I'd love to if we could."

"They're after you mate," Ron whispered, looking to Olivia who's eyes were closed, "and her, we'd put everyone in danger if we went back."

"I've already been the cause of one persons death tonight I'd like it if I didn't cause another." Olivia mumbled.

"Ron's right." Hermione agreed as Olivia begrudgingly sat up, clocking a waitress as she came over to their table.

She cleared her throat, "Coffee?"

The four stared blankly, "Er, a cappuccino please." Hermione said politely.

"You?" She turned to Ron.

"What she said." He muttered after a small silence.

Harry nodded, "Same."

"What about you?" She asked, looking to Olivia.

The girl looked up and clicked her tongue, "You don't happen to have anything alcoholic do you?" She received four blank stares in return and grumbled, "Fine, I'll take whatever they're getting."

The waitress nodded and walked away where Hermione turned to Olivia, "Alcohol? Are you serious?"

"Did you murder anyone tonight Hermione?" She whisper shouted, leaning forwards, "Because I did and it's eating me alive."

They fell silent, too afraid to say something until Ron cleared this throat, "So where do we go from here then? The Leaky Cauldron?"

Olivia shook her head while Hermione spoke, "It's too dangerous, if Voldemort really has taken over the Ministry then none of those places are safe."

"She's right." Olivia agreed, feeding a hand through her hair, "Everyone from the wedding will have already gone underground hiding, we should be doing the same for now."

"My rucksack with all my things, I've left it at The Burrow."

"You're only just now realising this?" Olivia asked amused, watching as Hermione shook her head and looked to her bag. Behind them the bell sounded and two workers walked past them and up to the counter.

Harry looked gobsmacked, "You're joking?"

"We've had all the essentials packed for days." Hermione answered, looking to Olivia. She nodded and found herself occupied, watching the two men that had come in too quietly, "Just in case."

An uneasy feeling crept up Olivia's spine and she dropped her wand out from the sleeve of her right jacket, rising from her seat slowly and quietly, "By the way these jeans .. not my favourite."

Olivia stood up fully her wand raised as one of men pulled his out of his pocket, "Get down!" Harry screamed.

The two men turned together, firing at the four. While Harry, Ron and Hermione dipped for cover Olivia flicked her wrist, deflecting the spell. Her and Harry fired together, "Stupefy!"

Each hit was a miss and it counted for all six wizards in the small cafe. Instead of hitting each other they destroyed the cafe around them, items smashing and tables breaking. Olivia ducked behind a flipped table breathing heavily while the two Death Eaters hid behind the counter.

They all took it in turns, standing and firing then taking cover again. It was obvious this was going to be a difficult duel with the lack of space and Olivia fired to the glass pots on the shelves behind the Death Eaters. The shelf collapsed and the items held on it fell to the floor, most of them smashing. The men didn't fire for around thirty seconds and Olivia looked from Ron to Hermione. When they thought it was over one of them stood up and fired, Olivia deflected it while the two fired at the shelf opposite the one Olivia had broke. He fell to the ground.

Still on her feet the last one stood and fired. Instead of blocking it, Olivia ducked quickly and the spell shattered the glass behind them. She stood after she heard the impact and finished him, "Pertrificus Totalus!"

Smoke was brimming around the counter and Olivia blew out a puff of air, pushing her hair back behind her ears as Hermione stood up. The waitress pushed on the door and looked down in shock to the two Death Eaters on the floor, "Go!" Leave!" Hermione yelled. She scattered quickly, running back into the back room she had come from.

"Lock the door, get the lights." Harry instructed. Ron, using the diluminator, took the light from the room while Hermione and Olivia went for the doors and windows. Both non-verbally Olivia locked the door while Hermione pulled the blinds down the cafe windows. When everything was secure the four moved to the counter, walking slowly incase one of the Death Eaters was waiting to attack.

"This ones names Rowle, he was on the Astronomy Tower the night Snape killed Dumbledore." Harry recognised.

Olivia stepped over Rowle's legs and walked over to the other one, Ron following her. She recognised him instantly and dropped her head back while groaning, "I should've snapped his wand instead of Yaxley's."

"Who is it?" Hermione asked.

"Dolohov." Ron said, his words thick with hate, "I recognise him from the wanted posters."

"He was there that night as well. Him and Yaxley tried to start on a group of first year Slytherins." Olivia said, turning to Harry and Hermione.

"Slytherins? I would've thought they would've left them alone, pure-blood status and all." Harry asked confused.

Olivia sighed deeply, "Half of them were half-bloods. The pure-bloods would've been recognised as blood-traitors. What a fucking world." She turned to look back down at Dolohov where her body-bind curse was in full effect.

"So what're we gonna do with you, ey?" Ron said bitterly, "He'd kill us if we turned around, wouldn't you?"

"If we kill them they'll know we were here." Harry intervened.

Olivia looked up to Ron wearily, an unusual expression on his face. To her surprise Ron physically looked ready to kill Dolohov and it scared Olivia.

"Ron." Hermione spoke.

"Suppose he did Mad-Eye, ey? How would you feel then?"

"It's better we wipe their memories." Harry said firmly.

"You're the boss." Ron said, leaving Olivia's side and walking over to Hermione. Olivia watched as he caressed her cheek ever so slightly, "Hermione, you and Olivia are the best at spells."

Olivia looked up to meet Hermione's unsure gaze and nodded in reassurance, "You take Rowle." She told her, picking Dolohov's wand up from the floor and snapping it over her knee. She dropped the back end of the wood on to the mans chest and pocketed the other half. Lifting her own wand up to Dolohov she muttered the incantation while twisting her wrist to withdraw the memory, "Obliviate."

I haven't edited this, I don't have the time at the moment but I'll do it later probably .. or not. Probably not.

Another super long chapter!

If I've ever wanted to hear your thoughts before it's now! What do you think about Olivia accidentally killing that Death Eater? About her in the cafe? Comment!
