Chapter five: Detained

The dining room of Malfoy Manor was quite a terrifying place to sit in the dark, especially alone. Despite the summer temperature it seemed the entire house was below an average temperature, just adding to its creepy nature. Olivia had no idea how long she'd been sat in the Malfoy's dining room, seemingly waiting for someone. But she knew one thing for sure; her wrists were stringing like a bitch.

Out of precaution, after she had been dragged through the Manor and tackled to a chair, they had tied her wrists to the wooden arm rests on the chair using a spell. It wasn't rope that bound her down, no, it was some kind of thick ivy that tightened every time she pulled against them.

The possible thought of Dragons Snare crossed her mind.

However long it had been she had lost the will to live and so leaned back in the chair, and resting her eyes. Her jaw was clenched shut as she tired impossibly hard to keep herself from accidentally doing something. It had seemed since she'd taken her bracelet off, or rather Olivanna's bracelet, she had next to no control over her magic. She could preform on command but it didn't stop anything else slipping out, even thinking about a spell in her head sometimes proved fatal.

She thought of those back at The Burrow, a million and one questions swarming her mind like flies. Did Harry and Hagrid make it back alright? Did the others make it back alright? What did Tonks and Remus want to tell her? How was her mum going to react when she didn't arrive back with Harry? How would everyone else react? Did anyone die? Was anyone injured? Was she going to be okay? What was going to happen?

So many questions, too many, plagued her mind. They played on a loop, and were poisoning her thoughts. All she wanted to do was scream..

It could've possibly been another ten minuets it could've been ten seconds, time while in a situation like so was a painful thing for Olivia but the large door opened. No light was provided as however many people crossed the threshold into the dining room but one person did stop to turn a small portion of the lights on.

It wasn't bright but the artificial light had Olivia squinting, used to the dark. Once's her eyes had adjusted to the light she opened them fully and assessed her situation. There wasn't as many people as she thought there was going to be, although there was familiar faces around her.

Bellatrix Lestrange walked aimlessly around the room in a sort of threatening manner, twirling her wand in her fingers that made Olivia want to laugh. Narcissa Malfoy has taken a seat on the opposite end of the large, rectangular dining table and had rested her head in the palm of her hand. Her husband, the person who surprised Olivia the most, stood at the opposite side of the room with his arms crossed. Olivia examined him cautiously, his entire demeanour had changed drastically. He looked like Neville Longbottom in their first year, afraid of his own shadow. There were others present, however not all that important.

Olivia kept her eyes on Bellatrix's movements with an arched brow and watched the woman circle her, "Is that supposed to scare me or something?" She asked, a genuine question that sounded too sarcastic.

Narcissa Malfoy had to fight hard from physically face palming.

Bellatrix halted in her steps behind Olivia, the girl sat looking as far back as she could, "Why?" Bellatrix hummed, "Is it working?" She came into Olivia's line of view, perching on the edge of the dining table.

Olivia's face never left its unimpressed deadpan glare, "Does it look like it?" She asked in a bored tone.ย

The sound of a single slap echoed through the large room, a stinging in place on Olivia's left cheek. The girls eyes fluttered shut briefly and she sighed, "I should've expected that." She mumbled to herself.

"You want to watch that mouth of yours girlie." She warned, "it'll be the death of you one day, just you watch."

"I look forward to it." Came Olivia's sarky reply, much too amused by the tic in Bellatrix's jaw as she continued to push her buttons, "Maybe one day you'll be of use to old no-nose. What have you achieved for him thus far? Oh, wait I remember now .." she took a long pause, watching the fire flame in Bellatrix's psychotic eyes before she whispered, "nothing."

Not a second later Bellatrix's wand was digging in Olivia's neck as he held it to her, "Say that again you bitch I dare you!" She shouted, her voice rising from a mere whisper to a shout, "I'll teach you a lesson or twoโ€”"

"Bella no!" Narcissa Malfoy shouted, rising from her seat in a panic. The woman's eyes were wide with panic as she held her hands out, Lucius had stepped forwards slowly with his hands raised in surrender.

"The girl is not worth it Bellatrix." Lucius said quietly, "Think of how the Dark Lord will react when he finds out she wasn't all his."

Olivia looked to Lucius as he placed one foot in front of the other, he tired to present a fearless expression but the tremble in his hands prevented him from doing otherwise.

"She disrespected the Dark Lord!" Bellatrix's voice boomed through the room, fury behind her shouts.

Narcissa Malfoy's eyes widened even more as she brought a finger to her lips, "Shh Bella." She scolded. Bellatrix's chest heaved as she looked from her sister to Olivia, she was completely torn on what she should do.

Olivia on the other hand was only curious. Why was Lucius and Narcissa trying to prevent Bellatrix from cursing the shit out of her? She doubted it was for her own benefit, maybe Narcissa didn't want to see her tortured. Aside from that there was obviously something they were trying to achieve by keeping quiet. Maybe they weren't supposed to bring her back to the Manor after all, supposed to leave her for Voldemort to find. Perhaps they were hiding her from something, or maybe someone.

Narcissa watched with baited breath as Olivia fell into a deep state of concentration, her eyes flickering back and forth. Her brows furrowing ever so slightly, narrowing her eyes. Then all of a sudden her face relaxed, it fell completely slack where only her brow arched. Narcissa collapsed back in her chair seeing her reaction, she knew that she had figured out her motive.

"You're trying to keep me hidden." She said.

Bellatrix scoffed, "Well obviously."

Olivia shook her head, "No, not from the outside world. From someone in here, someone in the Manor." Lucius and Narcissa shared a glance, "and who could you possibly be trying to hide me from?" She mused, a cocky grin forming in her face.

She watched with a brilliant smirk on her face as the parents of Draco Malfoy crumbled in front of her. Bellatrix Lestrange pushed herself off the dining table and withdrew her wand from Olivia's neck, walking over to her sister and brother-in-law where they conversed in a hushed manner.

Despite the fact Olivia was playing a brave face her heart was pounding rapidly against her ribcage. She could feel her pulse throbbing behind her ear at the thought of seeing Draco again, especially after she punched him in the face. Accidentally or not she still punched her boyfriend in the face. Thinking about that she shuddered, could she even class her and Draco as being together still?

It had been over a month since they had last spoke, even then they had argued and to Olivia she felt a reoccurring pattern between hers and Draco's relationship. Whenever something bad happened, they were always on bad terms.

A small shiver danced slowly up her spine and lapped the back of her neck uncomfortably, her head jerked to the left where she rubbed the back of her head with her shoulder. It was like an itch that you couldn't reach, never ending but awfully annoying. It sank into her neck minuets later however, leaving her suddenly breathless as she fought for control over her mind and body.

It was almost like it was paralysing her and she choked on the thick growing air and she started to panic, unwillingly attracting the attention of Lucius, Narcissa and Bellatrix. Soon her struggling breaths turned into heaves as she tired to take as much air back as she could, feeling as if she was being strangled by nothing. The small amount of lights around them flickered on and off and the ground began to shake as she continued to struggle. Everything grew bigger, items falling onto the floor and smashing the lights bursting and Olivia's breathing decreasing until it became nothing.

The three Death Eaters watched the girl curiously, Narcissa slightly panicked as she drew in a deep and long breath before she held onto it as everything returned back to its normal state. There was no more shaking, the lights returned to normal but Olivia's eyes were wide and fixated in a dead stare on the doors opposite her.

The Death Eaters in the room exchanged weary glances, expecting a large outburst to occur where everything smashed around them .. but it never came. Olivia remained in that dead-looking state.

Severus Snape had admittedly never moved so fast when he received word of Olivia Black been detained at Malfoy Manor, ready and waiting for the Dark Lord. After his betrayal of information regarding the moving of Harry Potter that had taken place no less than almost two hours ago, he was expecting no news. But that, regarding Olivia, spelt all sorts of trouble in his mind.

He left his small house without a second thought and apparated to Wiltshire, onto the grounds surrounding the Manor where he past through the wards with ease. The first thing he noticed was a lack of presence around the Manor, leaving him to wonder how many people had been informed of her capture.

Severus' long cloak swished behind him as he took fast paced strides up the long drive way and to the front door of Malfoy Manor. He found the large house practically deserted, creating a sense of epiphany to form within the man. He reckoned either only few knew of Olivia being detained in the Manor or that they were all gathered within one of the many rooms watching her being tortured to her death.

A chilling and toe curling silence had settled across the Manor like a thick, poisonous fog. The second thing he noticed was not a thing, in fact a person, the boy he had made the unbreakable vow over less than a year ago. The son of Lucius and Narcissa stood at the bottom of the large staircase that on looked what once was the Grand Ballroom, where the Malfoy's Christmas party had always been held.

Draco looked skeptical, perhaps even more so and Snape did not take it lightly. Having had first hand experience with just how smart Draco Malfoy really was he knew if he wanted to keep the boy from knowing who was less than fifty feet away from him he had to be careful.

"I would've asked what was going on but I've leaned to ignore it .. that was until the house started shaking." Draco said.

"It's best if you returned to your room Draco, this business does not concern you." Severus replied.

"Nothing seems to concern me anymore Professor yet I still always seem involved one way or another. Despite it being my business or not."

"Return to your room Mr. Malfoy."

"What's going on? Who is the unfortunate soul they have waiting for their death tonight? I know they ambushed Potters move, is it one of them?" He questioned, not seemingly putting two and two together.

Severus thanked Draco's obliviousness and moved to head to the dining room of the Manor when a feminine voice echoed softly through the Manor. Draco's eyes widened as he tensed next to Severus, it seemed he prayed a little too soon, "It-it's Olivia isn't it?" He stuttered.

"No Draco it is not." Severus lied quickly, "control your emotions, or one day they'll quite possibly be the death of you."

Despite Severus' quick lie, Draco hadn't bought it. He kept his mouth closed as the man took his leave and waited until he could follow him to the dining room. Draco kept his distance, sticking to walls and hiding in the shadows until the dining room door closed behind Professor Snape. He pushed away from the walls and pressed his ear tightly against the door.

Bellatrix, purely out of curiosity, began to take slow steps forwards to the girl while she remained unresponsive. Olivia was still staring into nothingness, no sign of movement or brain activity. There was absolutely nothing. A single idea flashed through her mind and she readied herself for what she was going to do, raising her wand and mustering as much concentration as she could.ย

"I'd refrain from doing that Bella if I were you." Severus Snape's voice called to the woman, halting her in her steps, "I've seen the consequences of those who meddle with her visions. There's a reason they're made for her."

Bellatrix snapped to face the man, "How do I know your not just protecting her? What if she's hiding something, hm?"

Snape laughed, a bitter sound leaving his mouth, "Of course she's going to be hiding something. If you don't believe just consult with your nephew, he can tell you all about it."

Narcissa looked to Snape, "What happened to Draco?"

"He had the misfortune to become caught up in one of her visions." He replied vaguely, remembering what happened in his class months ago.

Bellatrix opened her mouth to argue but the sound of Olivia gasping prevented her from doing so. Her eyes were wide as she skimmed over the people surrounding her. Her state was anything but normal as she was unusually tense and had specs of fear dusting in her eyes. It placed Snape on edge.

Suddenly the dining room door burst open where Draco stood in the threshold, clutching to his wand. While the Death Eaters were occupied Olivia had the chance to mutter a counter curse under her breath, the bounds falling loose on her wrists. She pushed herself out of her chair and scrambled to retrieve her wand that had been put on top of the fireplace just as Draco stepped into the room and caught her eye.

Bellatrix turned just in time and shouted out for Olivia to be stopped while throwing a curse in her direction. Out of the pure fear and adrenaline Olivia was running on she deflected it with a mere flick of the wrist, her jaw clenching shut as items started to rattle on the shelves. It seemed everyone besides Narcissa, Draco and Severus were firing in her direction and she blocked every incoming spell with ease, never once firing herself.

She caught Draco's gaze again and chewed on her lip, her heart aching in her chest, "I'm sorry." She mouthed to him, seeing the fading purple tinge under his left eye.

Along with his aunt, Draco stepped forwards to catch the girl he loved but with one blink of the eye she was gone.

Olivia's body twisted and turned in the most gut-wrenching feeling. She felt as if she was being stretched and squished at the same time, her stomach doing a complete one-eighty. Her take off wasn't precise. She didn't have deliberation, only destination and determination. The disapparition was messy and she would be lucky to land without splinching herself.

As quickly as she gone she had landed. Coming down heavily on all fours with an almighty thud outside of the Burrow. Out of that she rolled countless times before stopping on her back and staring up at the sky. She was surrounded by shortly cut grass although the Burrow was less than feet away.

The door to the said place opened and the noise of a handful of people echoed into the night. They talked amongst themselves as Olivia prepared herself to sit up, rustling the grass besides her.

"Remus no!" She heard Tonks shout, "What if it's Olivia?"

Tonks was right, it was Olivia and she pushed herself onto her shaking legs to prove so. What she had seen in Malfoy Manor had rattled her to the core. Those who had ran out visibly relaxed and Remus ran the short distance to wrap her in a tight embrace. He sighed into her hair while keeping her steady, "I thought for sure they would've killed you." He whispered, "Your mother would've killed me."

She had no response as they pulled away, Tonks engulfing her next, "Is now a bad time to tell you Remus and I are expecting?"

Olivia smiled, "Now is the perfect time to tell me Tonks." She whispered into her shoulder. They too pulled away where she looked to them both with weary eyes,

"Did everyone make it back alive?"
