FOR THE LAST TIME, probably, Felicity was walking to the grave of Gilraen, taking a quick goodbye visit.
Something dragged her to her mothers last peaceful resting place, and it caused her heart to race in a quick, uncomfortable pace. There was awaiting someone her, someone she faired the most to face again after so many years.
Her brother.
"Why are you here?", she asked, shaking her head as she walked to the gravestone of their mother - where the person that caused her the hardest pain ever kneeled in front. "Do not tell me you're back because I can not go on that adventure because I will punch you in the face."
Her brother couldn't help but smirk proudly at the delightful and beautiful voice of his sister. "What if I am?", he asked. "You know you are not strong enough.. you're gonna die."
Felicity let out a dismissively scoff. "You do not get to come back and tell me what to do, because you suddenly care about me again.", she said her eyes burning with salty tears of disappointment - with sorrow.
Her heart broke again - shattered into a million more pieces than before.
"Leave me alone.", she whispered hurt, her eyes gleaming in pain as a single, salty tear left the corner of her eye, making her brother take quick steps towards his sister, and placing his hand onto her cheek.
He wanted to stroke the tear away with his thumb, but then again.. Felicity left his touch and shot away from him, taking two big steps away. "Do not touch me.", she said with a trembling lip.
Felicity didn't know how bad of an impact he would have onto her, otherwise she wouldn't have come here to say goodbye and would've just stayed with Bilbo.
"Fel..", he tried, but she just ignored him and turned away, wanting to run away. "My dear sister... na vedui."
The brunette woman flashed a deadly and painful glare over her shoulder, shaking her head. "I certainly am not your sister anymore.. You lost that right a long time ago, Strider.", she said cooly, shredding her heart more into little pieces as another tear streamed down her face with the intention to leave a little sob.
"I doing everything to protect you!", he yelled after her, causing Fel to turn around for the last time and shake her head in utter disbelief.
"Protecting me? You are certainly not doing it to protect me.", she growled at him, her teary eyes screaming with sadness and betrayal at him. "You are trying to protect yourself, leaving me open for the option to get on the throne because you are just afraid of who you are!"
Aragorn looked at her. "You are afraid of yourself.", she said. "And I am not longer caging myself in because of your little incompetence."
Her brother remained silent, staying calm as his sister threw such painful words at him, causing him simply to nod. He knew that she was hurt - because he wasn't there for her when she needed him the most.. But he still loved her deeply and just wanted to protect her from herself - from her own emotions.
But for now.. He had to let her go - to an utterly suicidal adventure..
Even if he didn't like it, or wasn't overly fond of it.. He knew that Gandalf had made the decision, and the wizard didn't do such things lightly.
"Fel, are you okay?", she heard the soft voice of Bilbo aside her when she had her backbag thrown over her shoulder and her sword Rogol (Fighter) hanging loosely onto her hips, as they left the Village of Imladris, leaving it behind them and going on with their adventure.
The brunette woman nodded, flashing the Hobbit a fake smile and a reassuring look making it real for him that she was indeed alright - even when she wasn't a bit.
But she had a mission, she couldn't let her emotions take over.
"I am very glad that you accompany us, Lady Felicity.", Balin said with a kind smile as he walked in front of her, falling down to reach her side and talk to her. "We sure are glad that Thorin is not saying anything against it.. Because he sure does have his uncertainties."
Fel couldn't help but laugh at it. "Why? Is he about to be emberassed that a woman like me is better at wielding a sword than him?", she sassed at the old Dwarf, causing the Leader and King to turn around and flash her an unreadable look, that only Balin was able to make out what it meant.
The brunette woman sent Thorin a smirk, with a playful wink into his direction - causing the ones that followed the actions of the two to wonder. Could it possibly be that Thorin, the grumpiest Dwarf ever.. had.. fallen in love?
Bilbo was more confused than anybody else - because he wasn't able to read the signs.
The Hobbit was such a clueless and innocent creature.. Felicity made it her goal to protect him.
Felicity watched everyone as they stomped through the highlands, the forest - the depths of the woods.
Her worry laid upon the Hobbit that seemed very exhausted - since they left at the sunrise and didn't stop until the night had fallen upon them.
She watched as Bofur tripped, grabbing him by his backbag and saving him from the emberassment of stumbling over his own feet and landing onto his face in the dirt.
"Thank you, Lady!", he said with such a gleeful smile, she couldn't help but chuckle tenderly at him and going on with her walk.
"Tell me more about yourself!"
The brunette woman looked at the voice of Gloin, who seemed invested into her story.
"What?", she questioned and laughed softly. "What do you want to know more?"
The red haired Dwarf seemed to think, before he shrugged and earned a rough nudge in the ribs from his brother Oin. "Ouch!", Gloin exclaimed loudly and boxed him into the upper arm, now giving him a reason to fight with his kin.
Felicity rolled her eyes in amusement and shook her head.
"Tell me about your son.", she suddenly said, watching as the two brothers stopped in their action and Gloin looked at her, confused and near the tears of movement.
Nobody ever asked about Gimli, his little son, other than another Dwarf.
"He's a little active lad, strong and stubborn like his father!", he explained proudly, now taking out a little metallic, grey parture, opening it and showing her two Dwarfs, that looked exactly the same.
"This is him.", he said, pointing at a little boy drawing inside the grey memory piece. "I am proud of him.. and his mother, I love her dearly.."
"She must be proud of you for taking onto this long and dangerous journey.", Fel said with empathy, not knowing how Thorin in front of them fell back a few steps to listen to them. "I mean, I understand. It is your home."
Gloin nodded in agreement. "Yeah.. My lad was so filled with anger because I left him at home.", he explained happily. "But.. do you ever miss where you come from?"
Felicity remained silent for a little bit, thinking. Did she miss it? She wasn't sure. "I have nothing ever known except Rivendell.", she answered. "My mother died right after my birth, she was a strong woman that fled from war towards the elves, where they took her in and saved me."
Gloin nodded, impressively and listening patiently. "I don't think I have ever will have a real home. I love Imladris.. and Lord Elrond has treated me by far kinder than I deserved.. but after my brother left.. A part of me left as well that day.", she explained furthermore, her heart aching at the meeting after so many years of leaving her behind. "Sometimes when I felt alone, I visited my mothers grave, talking to her in hope that she would give me some advice."
The Dwarves and Hobbit that listened to her as well, felt touched by her story about herself. Many felt compassion, other felt pity for such a poor woman.
But Thorin? He felt rage for the ones that had hurt her.
It went silent right after she had stopped telling them more about herself and they went on, reaching the Misty Mountains, the rain was pouring down hard at them, as thunder and lightning growled over them.
"Steady! Steady!", Thorin yelled from the front as the rain compeletely soaked through Felicity's clothes. "Hold on!"
Fel heard yells, and grunts - panicing as she turned around towards Bilbo who fell foward, slipping with one feet from his position.
Stupidly enough, he had held onto Felicity's hand as he fell.
A little shriek from her erupted, as Kili grabbed her other hand and Dwalin Bilbo, pulling them back to the wall.
"I'm so sorry, Fel!", he yelled in emberassment, and fear - fear of her hating him now.
But the woman was just a little shaken up. "Are you okay?", Kili asked, his brother flashing a glare towards the clumsy Hobbit as she nodded, reaching Back once more for the hand of the Halfling and grabbing it, squeezing it reassuringly.
"I am sorry!"
"Do not worry, I am okay!", she yelled back, holding his hand, has he grabbed tighter onto her.
"We must find shelter!", Thorin exclaimed loudly from afar, but suddenly it got dangerous Bilbo anxiously clinged onto Fel's hand.
"Look out!", Dwalin yelled, as a giant boulder went ahead to them, flying straight into the stone wall behind them and collapsing down onto them into little pieces.
Felicity pushed Bilbo towards her, using her own body as a shield to hold of the danger for the Hobbit and pressed them onto the wall, strongly and with every force she had.
"This is no thunderstorm!", Balin yelled, gaining everybodies attention. "It's a thunder battle! Look!"
"Lasto lîn, anwa arphen." (We are doomed.), she whispered as she watched as the a big stone creature stood up from the ground, and ripped another boulder out from the wall behind him.
"Bless me!", Bofur exclaimed. "The Legends are true! Giants, stone-giants!"
Bilbo looked in horror as the big stone flew straight towards them, causing the brunette woman to push him back into the wall further. "Stay by my side, Bilbo.", Fel said in a calm voice, even when she was filled with the same emotions as everybody else - she just had to stay calm and keep the Hobbit alive.
"Take cover, you fool!", Thorin yelled at Bofur, as Fili grabbed him and pushed him bakc into the wall.
"Hold on!", Dwalin exclaimed hastily, as the ground beneath them started to rumble and shake as well, causing Bilbo to struggle to stand in his position.
Felicity struggled by herself to keep her feet on the ground, as Bilbo seemingly let go of her hand and pressed it onto Dwalin to keep him in the little hole where he stood and stayed.
The brunette woman watched as the stone's fell from the sky, crashing down onto her, and the path she stood on.
Cries for her name where erupting loudly through the rainy air as she simply jumped from her place to Kili's, being held suddenly by Fili and his brother. "If we survive this, remind me to thank you later.", she joked and earned small smiles from the brothers, as the ground beneath them started to part ways.
Once more, and like an object, Felicity was pushed forwards and past Kili, straight into Gloin and Thorin.
A squeal erupted from the bruntte woman as the two Dwarves cought her.
"I got you!", Thorin said, holding her close in between the little spot from Gloin and him. Fel looked speechless at the black-haired Dwarf and wasn't able to say something, so she nodded hastily and took deep breaths.
Felicity was concerned about Bilbo, and tried to keep an eye out for the child-like creature - to no avail. The Hobbit was gone, hidden by the other leg that stood up and the other half of the Company.
The leg were Felicity was one crashed into a more steady place, giving them time to jump onto the non-moving ground.
Thorin was the first one to go, and held a hand out for Fel to grab it and walk over.
Gloin smiled into himself as he watched the scenery. "Go! Go, Go!"
"Run, get off! Get off!", Balin yelled as they were safe now, only being able to watch in horror as the other part of the group was still in danger.
Felicity tripped with Thorin, his face falling head first onto her cleavage, his head lifted and looking straigh into her brown eyes, with his face heating up in emberassment. The brunette woman shook her head, looking over to the others.
"Don't panic.", she pleaded and watched as he shook his head and nodded, standing up and reaching a hand out to her, helping her up.
"Look out, look out!"
Felicity saw as the fist of a stone giant once more rushed towards them, and grabbing a fistfull of the wall they were on, just to punch the other one in the face.
The brunette woman ducked underneath, the fist merely missing her head by a few centimeters.
It was horrific for her, only being able to watch the other ones being in such a danger without any chance to help them - defenceless in the air of the leg of a god damn stone giant.
"Bilbo!", Fel exclaimed loudly as she watched the leg crash into the other stone wall and falling down onto the ground, with not a single person on it.
The brunette woman gasped for air as she watched the stone giant fall into its death, the painful screams of Thorin hurting her very soul.
The young woman made her way to the place where they crashed, taking breaths of relief as she watched the other ones only cursing and pleading for Bombur to get off of them.
But she started to panic, where was Bilbo?
"Where's Bilbo?", Bofur yelled out her mind, while looking hastily around. "Where's the Hobbit?"
Felicity did the same as Bofur, searching worriedly the area for the little Halfling, hearing his grunts, his exhausted groans near the cliff where he held on to.
"There!", the brunette woman exclaimed and got to him quickly, while she stretched her arms out for Bilbo.
When she nearly had him, she let out a shriek as he slipped further down. "Hold on, Bilbo!", she yelled down to him, causing him to anxiously glance at her. He had his eyes filled with hope, hope for her to safe him before it was to late.
Ori had grabbed his left arm, while Felicity was, luckily, long enough to grab his right side and laying onto her stomach, pulling him up with all the force and strength he had, but Thorin watched Felicity slip away and down from her position, so he did it himself - jumping down onto the little stone ledge, and roughly grabbed him pulling him up to the two.
When Bilbo was up, Thorin himself was about to slip, but Felicity had been able to reach his hand, nodding at him as she pulled him up - her breathing pacing quickly as she glanced at the black haired Dwarf.
He wasn't sure what to say, so he simply nodded at her, his eyes telling her how thankful he was.
"I thought we lost our burglar.", Dwalin panted, causing Fel to flash a small smile at the Dwarf.
But the moment Thorin opened his mouth, Felicity wanted to punch him into his handsome face.
"He's been lost every since he left home.", he said with a dismissive look, causing Bilbo to swallow and let his head fall onto the ground - a crestfallen expression onto his face. "He should never have come. He has no place amongst us. Dwalin!"
Felicity wanted to return something bitchy, but she decided rather against it - instead, she walked towards the Hobbit and flashed him a concerned look.
He was still panting heavily, and the brunette woman saw the horror in his eyes - he was afraid. It was his first real death experience, except the one time they were chased by Orcs - or the time before where they were nearly eaten by Trolls.
"Are you okay?", she questioned, earning a short nod as she helped him up, walking with him into the little cave entrance.
"Thank you.", Bilbo whispered, still in shock from before. "I owe you my life."
Felicity flashed him a slight smile and shook her head. "Do not worry about it, Bilbo.", she said and patted his shoulder gently, walking inside the entrance.
"It looks safe enough.", Dwalin said, but Thorin shook his head - as always grumpy.
"Search to the back. Caves in the mountain are seldom unoccupied."
"There's nothin' here.", Dwalin said, after he walked back and the other ones entered as well.
"Right! Then.. Let's get a fire started!", Gloin said, clapping excitedly into his hands.
Felicity had to admit, she wasn't against the warmth of it.. But she knew that it would just cast them danger because of the light in the night.
"No, no fires.", Thorin said, looking at the slightly shivering woman. "Not in this place."
Felicity watched as the King flashed her an apologetic look, whereas she just nodded, understandingly and turned away, walking towards the Hobbit. "Get some sleep. We start at first light.", Thorin once more ordered, feeling a ting of jealousy hit his chest as the brunette woman he started to adore was by the Hobbit once again.
The princess was sitting against the stone wall behind her, fiddling in utter thoughts around. Her mind was spinning and she had to admit.. She wasn't doing okay now.
She should sleep, and gather some energy.. yes.. but.. her own thoughts were keeping her awake, like they did so often.
Felicity only heard the little snoring of Bofur, as she promised him to rest for a bit, because she would be awake anyways - but then.. she suddenly heard movement beside her.
Bilbo had decided to sleep aside her, knowing that he felt more comfortable in her vicinity, he stayed by her side.
Little did he know that she watched him with raised eyebrows and an understanding look.
But then again, she shook her head as he grabbed his sword and put it around his waist with his belt, rolling his cover up and putting it in his backbag.
When he wanted to reach for his walking stick, he met Felicity's brown eyes and awake state.
He had to cover his mouth to to not scream like a little girl, because she really could've told him that she was watching him the entire time.
"You scared me to death!", Bilbo whisper-yelled towards her, causing her only to chuckle softly.
"I thought the talk we shared in Imladris was clear enough for you.", she said softly, earning a disapproving look from him, he shook his head and turned away.
"I'm sorry Felicity..", he simply said and walked to the entrance, making the young woman stand up and roll her eyes at him, following the Halfling. "Wha- What are you doing? I won't stay here!"
"I am not forcing you to stay, I want to say goodbye properly.", she said and tip-toed after him, past Bofur who had stopped with his sleeping, glaring at Bilbo and then Felicity.
"What?- Where do you two think you're going?", Bofur questioned, making the young woman stop in her tracks and satisfied gleam at Bilbo, who flashed her a glare of betrayal, only earning an innocent smile and shrug.
"Back to Rivendell.", Bilbo said.
"No, no. You can't turn back now, eh?", Bofur tried to convince him to stay, but Bilbo just shook his head. "You're part of the Company, you're one of us.."
Felicity's heart gleamed at the acceptance of Bofur, the way he saw him as one of his own kin, made her smile.
"I'm not, though, am I?", Bilbo said. "Thorin said I should never gave come and he was right. I'm.. not a took, I'm not a Baggins.. He's even preffering Felicity before me, no offence. I don't know what I was thinking. I should never have run out my door."
The brunette woman only listened, nodding at the Halfling.
"You're homesick.. I understand.. and the thing with Thorin is because-"
"No, you don't! You don't understand.", Bilbo starts to lose his cool. "None of you do. You are Dwarves! You are used to this life!"
Felicity's smile dropped, and she looked in utter disbelief at the Halfling. "To living on the road, never settling in one place, not belonging anywhere!"
Bilbo's look wandered from an shocked, and hurt Bofur towards the beautiful Fel that saved his life.
He had listened, back then.. and the brunette woman herself had told them that she didn't feel home in Rivendell. Her brother was her home..
Disappointment flashed through her eyes as her expression turned into a frown, causing her to shake his head.
Bilbo felt bad, utterly guilty for the words he had just spoken so carelessly.
"Oh.. I am sorry.. I didn't-", Bilbo started, before turning his head away, avoiding Felicity's and Bofurs look, clearing his throat uncomfortably.
"No.. you're right."
Felicity's expression went soft, as she walked closer to the Dwarf, standing behind him now and placing her hand onto his shoulder and squeezing it reassuringly.
"We don't belong anywhere..", Bofur said sad, his eyes gleaming to Felicity with a thankful look, while he was just sad. On the other hand.. Bilbo indeed was right. That is why they are doing that journey. "I wish you all the luck in the world."
Felicity had a proud mother moment - watching as the two hugged before Bilbo glanced at the brunette woman.
"I-", he started, but made his usual facial motion with his nose, causing her to nod.
"We choose our fate.", she said softly, looking down at him before going onto one knee. "It's never easy to be dragged into a war not your own."
"I wasn't made for it, to be honest..", Bilbo sighed, making Fel snort amused.
"The best warriors weren't. My father was a great man.. but had a easily possesive mind.", she said. "Sin na iâr, Bilbo Baggins. Pan natha lin, hannon."
Bilbo chuckled softly and shook his head. "You never fail to amaze me with your elvish language..", he said. "You're talking as if you are one of them."
Felicity opened her arms and embraced him into a hug. "Without being a selfish, pointy eared bastard.", she said, turning her head around and watching Thorin getting up from his place and looking thoughtfully at the young woman.
When Bilbo finally turned to leave, Bofur looked at his sword, Sting.
"What's that?", he asked, dumbfounded, suddenly causing the young woman to shake her head and turn around, Thorin meeting her eyes.
"Edwen lîn." (We are going to die.), Felicity said, before suddenly ground beneath them was gone and they fell through the cave.
