I got into the portal and stepped out I was standing in front of my house now 

I walked up to the staircase scared of what might Peter would say if he sees me and if maybe he has been able to find Emily and she might be at home right now with him. I don't know but it was the first time that I was going through this feeling, being scared to enter my own house even though I have lived there my life.

Even so, I mustered my courage and opened the gate and went inside, and went up the stairs. I found a note left on the door as I picked it up it said:

"[Dear Veronica, If you come back home safely, don't hesitate you know where's the key at. Just go inside and rest for some time, and give me a call. Gone to the Police Station.]"

The letter said. I read it and kept it back to its original position. And picked up one of the plants from the stand, got the key from it, unlocked the door, stepped in, and closed the door behind me.

I turned around and saw my living room and the feelings sink in as tears went down my eyes at all the memories of mom, me and Emily as I went near the side table and picked the photo frame which had the picture of mom in it.

[This is my mom.]

"There you are, you don't stop causing trouble for others do you" I heard someone from behind me as I turned around I found Alec standing there

"Gosh!!! Alec, you scared the life out of me. Do you like scaring people to death or what? You should have a bell around your neck" I gave him a sarcastic reply

"No, but it depends," he said as I looked at him

[is this guy for real?] I thought

"It depends? On who? And wait a minute how did you even get in here? And how do you know that I'm here?" I asked him crossing my arms around my chest

"He's not alone" I heard someone else's voice coming too

"all okay?" she asked 

"You too Izzy, I thought you were on my side," I said looking at her

"Well what can I say, I told you I need a tour of your house. Btw it's gorgeous" she smiled

"Thanks, glad you liked it. But how were you guys able to come in? The door was locked when I came in. So."

"Invisibility, Veronica," she said

"I know you guys use that invisibility rune which is supposed to hide you all but still you might be invisible not a ghost who can travel through walls, can you?" giving a glance at them I gave him a sarcastic response

"You're smart for one I must say, most people would believe that because we're invisible we could go in and out of places easily. I'm impressed. You've learnt quite some things in very less time. You're much quicker than Clary" Isabelle said

"Well, it's obvious Izzy that this invisibility can only hide you. But can't make you travel. So tell me. And besides, I'm not an idiot to believe everything you throw at me without evidence." I started and then asked them folding my arms around my chest and demanding an answer

"Well we sneaked in from your back door," Alec said

"You what?!!. You sneaked in!!!" I looked at Isabelle and then turned on my heels straight away to the back door of my house and saw it open. Looking back at both of them in shock and annoyance I sighed and then closed the door rolling my eyes.

"Sorry, we had to as you were coming here alone" Izzy stated

"You know I know how to fight right? I can protect myself very well" I said going back to the living room

"Yeah, we know still. Now, what're you doing here? All alone" Alec asked me

"Why does it bother you? It's my house I can enter and leave whenever I want. I don't need anyone's permission to do that." I said as started going up the stairs Alec followed behind while Izzy stayed downstairs and sat on the couch

I walked up the stairs and went to the right towards my bedroom and saw Alec following me "can you stop following me, please? It's my house." I stopped and turned around near the bedroom door

"Sorry, but you're not invited here. So please stay back" I said pushing my hands forward and turned and opened the door and entered the room. It was the same as I had left it. I took out a big bag or more like a suitcase from below my cupboard, took my clothes out, and put them in the back. As I moved to the small cabinet. I took out a small cloth bag with my remaining personal stuff.

I saw Alec come in as that bag was still in my hand, a side of that bag had a transparent sheet to it to see the things kept inside so one could get an idea before opening and wasting time on what he/she needed from it. And that side unfortunately was facing Alec.

"What's that?" He asked as I flustered

"No-nothing. It's personal stuff" I quickly changed the bag's direction and put it in the bag as he understood a little and looked away.

As I kept the bag away I saw him looking at the room

"Trying to find something to judge here, are you?" I said catching him off guard

"Oh No, nothing to judge. You have a nice room. Simple, Colourful." He said looking around

"I like simple things in life. So I like to keep that around me" I said as I motioned him to move a little and walked over to the dressing table as my eyes fell on the pictures of mom and Emily on the table.

I picked the picture and looked at them and then turned around and bumped into him, making me lose my balance as he grabbed me by the waist.

He held me, and we both looked at each other staring, as his hand was on my waist and the other holding my other hand. With the frame, while mine were on his shoulder.

We both were staring at each other as he suddenly pulled me back up and we were close then suddenly a frame was about to slip from my hand he quickly released me and grabbed the frame as we both stepped back

"How's your injury?" He asked while touching the bridge of his nose. And it made me realize the moment we had last night as we both again diverted our eyes as I answered

"It's better than yesterday," I said avoiding eye contact with him and closed the bag and hung it on my shoulders, and started moving to mom's room.

"Where are you going?" he asked as I moved past him.

"I don't like being questioned when I'm in my house," I said as I went to mom's room, opened the door and stepped inside the room. A photo frame was hanging above the bed, a picture of me, mom and Emily.

I walked over to it and touched it seeing them in the photograph made me emotional ["I promise you mom before you come back. I'll find Emily and keep her safe, and won't let her get hurt ever again. I promise mom, and I also have questions for you. Come back quickly."]

"your sister is cute" I heard Alec behind me

"Will you please stop following me around like a lost puppy" I agitated while wiping away the tears on my cheek and turned around to look at him

"I just want to know why aren't you at the institute right now and lurking around here," He said crossing his arms

"Why do you care? It's my life, I can go wherever I want" I asked him in return

"Because you" he stopped for a second and looked up at me as I looked into his eyes I couldn't look away "you're hurt and you need to rest and you're life's in danger right now" he explained

"I don't care, I'm sorry I have to turn your offer down. I need to look for my sister and get her back safe, as soon as possible."

"Look Veronica, I know you're scared, I also have a sister. I know how it would feel to lose them. But you've got to get out of here and think practically, we have some news for you at the institute. So just listen to me and come" he said as he extended his hand forward

"What's wrong with him? Usually, we don't see eye to eye, and now why is he so concerned for me? where's all this care coming from? Just because we had a few moments and felt attracted to each other. still, why are you acting like this for me?"

"I'll see about that," I said as I moved past him and opened the drawer to mom's dressing table and found the family album, with a book about magic I took both of them and put them in the bag and zipped it and started walking outside and went down the stairs,

"You're back finally, I was thinking what took you so long?" Izzy questioned as she saw me coming down the stairs and I pointed to Alec "him" I said as I got down. As she giggle and gave me a side hug "Come on we need to go".

I looked at her even though I didn't want to but I couldn't refuse her, Izzy became like a good friend to me in such a less time. I nodded and started walking as she asked "we won't go through the front door?"

"NO," I said "I left the key back where it was supposed to be. After using the key. when I came in, I locked the door again. So now if peter will come back he will use the key. He won't know that I visited" I said as I walked to my right towards the kitchen area and took a right again and went to the back door "we'll go from here, you guys also entered from here right?" I motioned

"As you like it's your house," Alec said

"Good"

We went up to the back door and went ahead closed it and started walking but as we walked a little we found some people standing in front of us

"You're Kara's daughter, aren't you? We have some old work to finish"
