"Good Morning Veronica" Kara wished seeing a sleepy Veronica tip-toe into the kitchen trying not to disturb her Mother

"How do you always get to know it's me?"

"I'm your mother, Veronica, and besides out of my daughters you're the only one who tip toes in the kitchen in the morning like a thief,"

I have a younger sister, Emily, she's 7 years old and the cutest member of our family. In contrast, I inherited my Dad's Hazel eyes and my Mom's smile. She inherited Mom's black eyes and Dad's smile. We both may look similar on the outside but are opposites in reality. I am the calm and quiet one; she is like a loudmouth.

"So ready for the big day, because I am," Mom said brimming with happiness pulling me out of my thoughts

"Hmm...I'm ready," I said walking over to the coffee machine to get some coffee

"You don't look quite happy for your last day of college what's going on?"

"What if I tell you I'm not happy...." Veronica sits down with a gloomy face "I miss Dad. Wish he was here with us maybe then things would have been a little easier for all of us and I guess that would have made me happy.

You wouldn't have to go back and forth working and neither would I have to work in the cafe. Even though I love it. I just can't grasp how can he act like nothing happened amd left us like it was nothing at all!"

"You know honey, it's not about whether things go as you want them to be or not. It's about how you handle the things that are being thrown at you," Mom explained taking the chair beside me as I rested my head on her shoulder

My mom, Kara Denvers, is a fashion designer who works for Pastel and Peterson Co, she's amazing at what she does there. Since the moment Dad left us she's been working non-stop to provide us with the best life with all she had

"Thanks for the pep-talk Mo" I reply as she smiles patting my shoulder we heard footsteps from the stairs and suddenly the noise stopped at the end of the staircase we looked up to see a half-asleep Emily standing by the stairs

"Good morning Emily," I said crouching down to her level

"Morning Ronnie," she said smiling

"Well, what are you waiting for? it's gonna get cold dig in," she said, after finishing breakfast I got dressed for the day walking down to the living room and looking for Mom

"Mom, are you ready? You have an important photo shoot to attend and a flight to catch right now,"

"I know honey," she said as I saw her walk into the living room wearing a light blue color dress with heels

"You look, beautiful Mom," I commented seeing how perfectly the outfit was hugging her body and thinking could she maintain a figure and body like this even at this age

"Well don't I always!" she exclaimed as we laughed

"I know I'll be gone for a month now, so can you look after Emily while I'm gone? Peter will be here to help you out in case you need it. I want you to take care of yourself and her while I'm away for work can you girls do that?"

"Of course, Mom I'll take care of her just fine,"

"And one more thing do-"

"Don't forget to meet Peter, I know Mom, we'll be just fine don't worry. You should focus on your work I'll handle everything back here with Peter"

Peter has been my Mom's college best friend since childhood we used to play and go on picnics with him after his job. After Dad left us he was the one who helped Mom and us when we were having a hard time

"Well it's time to go, come on you and I both need to be somewhere," Veronica said untangling her hair

"Emily, it's time to go come on!"

"Coming," the little girl said running down the stairs

"What did I tell you about the stairs Emily?" Veronica said catching Emily as soon as she came down

"Not to run on the stairs"

"And what were you doing?"

"Sorry" she apologized showing her puppy eyes which she knew no in the family could resist

"Okay, fine you are forgiven but only this once. You need to be more careful next time" Veronica instructed as Emily nodded running up to their mom

"So now shall we?" Veronica offered her hand to Emily as the family left the house for the airport

"I'll miss you too there, make sure to take care of yourself both of you," Mom said pulling us in a tight hug

"And Ronnie, no skipping dinners okay and Emily" she ordered crouching down to Emily's level hugging her

"No staying up late and you will complete your homework on time and no extra sweets!" Mom said as Emily chuckled at the last part looking up at me as I shushed her laughing

"We'll miss you too Mom and don't worry about us. I'll take good care of her, I will let nothing happen to her I promise!"

"Make sure to be in touch with Peter and do tell me about what's going on here after I'm gone okay"

"Yes Mom"

"Flight No. 143 A is about to board requesting all the passengers to report to the flight. Thank you"

"Well guess it's our cue to go, now go and crush that project of yours" Veronica exclaimed happily

She waved to her and as Kara went into the airport she drove towards her institute/university where she was pursuing her art and Writing course

At The Academy

Alec has been pacing in and out in front of the meeting room continuously for the past 30 minutes now

"What's going on here," Isabell asked looking at Alec marching in and out

"The meeting hasn't ended even now?" Jace asked seeing Alec near the door

"No, and as for your question it has been answered by Jace here," Alec said pointing over to Jace

"So that's why you're anxious? Behind a meeting,"

"You can say that," Alec said looking inside

"So what is it about?" Jace asked

"Demon trouble,"

"Well, then let's go and find out who they are" Isabell exclaimed

"Now's not the time for jokes Izzy," Alec stated stopping her from going away

"I agree with Alec on this, it's not safe to go unprepared out there Izzy" Jace commented

"Then I'll let you two gentlemen handle this situation your way," she said walking away "And do tell me the outcome of it," while walking away

After a few moments, the executives and the head of the New York Institute came out to discuss what further step to take concerning these mundane killings by demons for their blood. As they left Maryse came to Alec and Jace while carrying a file in her hands

"Jace, Alec, where's Isabelle?" she asked looking around

"She just went to work on something," Jace said

"When she returns tell her that I'm assigning the three of you to go and look for who or what is making this mess," Maryse demanded telling them the outcome that came from the meeting with the executives on this issue

"You need to find it, and stop all these murders understood?"

"Yes, Mother we'll get hold of them don't worry"

"The council doesn't have to worry about this, we'll take care of this" Jace assured Maryse as she left leaving the men to prep for tonight's mission

"I'm leaving this job to the best shadow hunters of this academy," she said while handing them a file and walking away from those two

"Ready for another mission boys?" Isabelle chimed from behind them

"Jeez, Izzy you scared us" Jace yelped as soon as they heard her as she laughed putting an arm around Jace's shoulder

"Don't act as if you didn't know that I was already standing here"

"Well you caught me but you should have looked at his face" Jace pointed towards Alec who was scared

"I'm not scared, now let's go and complete this mission" Alec stated walking past Jace and Isabelle, while they laughed behind his back following him into the lobby as Alec smiled
