"Let's go back," I said as they nodded in response I created a portal and we reached Jason's house

"Are you okay?" He asked I nodded in response

"She's sleeping upstairs," He said

I smiled and walking up the stairs quietly opened the door to his room to find her sleeping soundly, sitting nearby I just watched her sleep, she had bruises all over her face and body "I'm sorry Emily. I was just sitting around while you were being tortured," I cried out

"You did everything you could in your power for her," I heard Alec as he extended his hand, getting me settled

"It's okay, You didn't do anything wrong you stayed away because you knew if you tried anything they would've hurt her, and that's the last thing you wanted for her," he comforted patting my shoulder

"If only I had reached on time maybe then"

"I know that feeling very well, she's safe now so pull yourself together, she needs you now more than ever," He said as I glanced back at him as he wiped my tears

" Can you send Magnus in please?" I asked folding my hands on my lap he nodded and walked out

"Hey Peaches you wanted to see me?" Magnus asked entering the room as I looked up

"I need to heal her wounds, will you help me?" I said

"She'll be in a better condition by morning" he stated as Jason walked in I walked out into the hallway and got pulled away by someone and the next thing I knew is that I was locked in a room with Alec

"Alec, what do you think you're doing? Why haven't you returned to Lydia yet?" I questioned him trying to maintain a distance, but he just won't move

"What is it with you today? Let me go" I kept fighting him

"You never stop talking, do you? I wanna stay with you" he whispered his forehead touching against his as my eyes widened in horror

"Alec I don't think this is the right thing to do" I spoke but he didn't let me finish

"I called off my wedding with Lydia," he said

"What do you mean you called it off? She said you like her, and that's why you proposed to her didn't you? " I asked

"It was for the sake of the institute that I never said I liked her, instead you're the one that I like, I Love You Veronica" he whispered shocked by the answer I pushed him away

"Don't push me away. I know you also feel the same way I do, Don't leave" he says as he leans in kissing me

"I'm sorry Alec, but I need to go," Pushing him away I say

This was not the Alec I remember, the Alec I knew was different. He was different the look in his eyes could tell something had changed in his behaviour

As I walked toward the door I heard his deep voice again "I'll wait for when you're ready, " he said as I turned back. I gave him one last look and walked out fixing my dress as I walked down the stairs with him following behind quietly.

I enter and see Maryse and Robert talking among themselves as they see me enter Maryse throws me a glare to which I quietly put my head down and separate myself from the group walking over to my room.

Packing the items I needed for the night in the bag, I opened my closet, got my clothes out, and went for a shower, I changed into a pair of comfortable T-shirts and pants for the night. I pick up the bag with my items including my weapons and walk out I come across Lydia avoid her gaze and start walking

"Veronica wait!!" she said as I stopped in my tracks

"Lydia, I'm sorry for everything I didn't want to be the one to break your wedding. I'm truly sorry for what happened" I turned to her with guilt that I'm sure she noticed

"It's okay Veronica, besides Alec and I were just doing this for this institute and our families. I don't hold a grudge against you, never did and never will." She smiled and hugged me as I hugged her back nervously

"I knew Alec liked you, I didn't want to stop him from going after his happiness. It was bound to happen someday. I'm just happy he followed his heart even if it meant going against everything.  I did that too once, I got to know about your sister and I'm so sorry that, a child had to face so much trouble. I can understand you're worried." She said as I nodded

Sitting down I told her everything about Emily and what all happened her eyes grew in shock and horror
"By the Angel, I can't believe someone would treat a kid like that. It's disturbing for a child to go through that, if you ever need my help in any way do let me know. You only said, we may not be the best with each other but we are at least friends." She said as I hugged her

"Thank you, Lydia. You're an amazing woman, I'm sure you'll find someone too one day who gives you the world." I compliment her she smiles and nods. Walking down the lobby I stumble upon the Lightwood family's conversation, I stay a few steps back as I hear them

"You've disappointed all of us, Alec," Maryse says

"Why because it's someone else than Lydia?" He asks sternly

"That's the least of my worries,"

"Then what's the problem, Mother?"

"That you choose Veronica Denvers, a downwinder out of all the people" Maryse states and I could sense her frustration just by her tone

"You don't know anything about her or her family Alec, she can be very dangerous." Robert expressed and I didn't expect this but who cares now, I started walking as I had heard enough of their opinions about me

"Well then I plan on getting to know everything that's there to know about her, and if you have a problem with that then I suggest you deal with it" Alec states firmly as I stop and look over to him hearing his reply.

He saw me with guilt in his eyes as I turned back around and walked away from them he left and rushed behind me and pulled me to him

"No Alec you're parents are right I'm a down-world and we don't blend in equally, even if it's the 21st Century I'm dangerous. It's better if to keep your distance" I stop him placing a hand on his shoulder.

"Have a Good Night Alec Lightwood. I won't forget the time I spent with you" I say giving him a small peck on his cheek as I walk away without looking back and out through the doors of the institute with his eyes fixated on me watching me go.

Not only he but Clary, Izzy, and Jace saw that scene being worried for him as he had just accepted and admitted his feelings and now his family just hurt Veronica's feelings and she left and now both of them are hurt.

"You know word travels fast here and I'm sure you know what she just went through while she was out. I saw her breakdown seeing her 7-year-old sister covered in scars and If that's what you call dangerous then I don't know what safe means for you both. So thank you for telling her that you'll never consider her as one." Alec defends her and leaves for his room closing the door and sitting on his bed with his head down

"Alec?"

"Come in Izzy," he said as Isabelle walked in with Jace behind her. They both came in as he hugged them and sat back.

"I know this was tough but I'm proud of you Alec" Izzy says as he sees her sister smiling and nods

"Thanks, Izzy"

"We saw what happened outside, I'm sorry that she got to hear all that" Jace said patting his parabatai on the shoulder

"She'll be back Alec, I know it will take some time but she'll be back," Izzy said placing a hand on his shoulder as looked at her and nodded, The two of them sat there in his room comforting him and talking to him about Veronica as Alec told them about how he started liking her.

"Stay over," I say showcasing my to Jason as he laughs and nods giving me a side hug

"Well I wish I could stay over, but it will dawn in a few hours, but call me when she wakes up," Raphael says giving me a tight hug

"I will, I'll bring her to meet you. And you take care" I say

"I will and you need some rest now after all this chaos, take care," he says pecking my cheeks I smile as he rushes out

"I'll be in the room beside yours, call me if you need something" he asserted as I nodded and sat near Emily as he closed the door and went out

I watched over her sleeping stroking her forehead as she slept peacefully through the night as I slept beside her, holding her close to me.
