a lot has happened in the past few months. but the only thing that really matters to matt is the fact that niola's mental health is better than he's ever seen it. she's super giggly and smiling all the time.

a quick recap : nick and lucas are basically dating, but won't make it official. chris and camille are going to forever be stuck in their flirty talking stage because they've gotten nowhere and it's been years. niola is happy with her life and is in a healthy relationship with matt.

"i wanna hang out with luke today," nick says, looking up from his phone for the first time all morning since all he's done since he woke up is text lucas.

"we already have plans, dumbass." chris says.

"wait seriously?" nick says, genuinely confused. "i didn't know that."

"uh, yes you did." chris says, "we've been talking about it all week."

matt laughs from across the living room. they're currently hanging out at niola's house. they were watching a movie, but everyone was talking to much that matt decided to just turn off the tv.

camille is here too, but she's in the bathroom with rayne because rayne can't reach the sink and needs help washing her hands.

"all week?" nick asks. "i think i would remember if we were making plans for a whole week."

"i thought so too," chris retaliates. "but apparently not."

"well what are the plans?"

"you would know if you quit flirting with your boyfriend and actually involved yourself in what's happening around you." chris tells him, reaching for his can of pepsi sitting on the coffee table. he takes a sip from it and places it back on the tabletop while nick's just staring at him the whole time with his jaw on the floor.

"excuse me?" nick says. "im not flirting with anyone. we're just talking like two normal fucking people. the only one here who's still in the flirting stage is you."

it's chris' turn to gasp. "what are you even saying kid?"

"i'm saying that you're the last person here who should be talking shit about anybody's relationship." nick says. "especially considering the fact that you don't even have the balls to tell camille that you see her as more than a friend."

"what?" chris shouts. "no i don't!"

"you're not fooling anyone, christopher." nick tells him.

just as chris is about to defend himself once more, niola notices camille walking back down the hall toward the living room. she's carrying rayne in her arms, unaware the she's the topic of the brother's gossip.

"HEY!" niola says, quieting them before camille turns the corner and enters the living room. she looks around, but doesn't seen to notice why everyone's staring at her. she just sits down beside chris and hands him rayne.

nick glares at chris from the opposite couch, wordlessly telling him to grow a pair and admit his feelings. but chris just looks away from his brother, focusing on rayne instead of his emotions.

"anywayyyy," matt says, "is anyone gonna explain to nick what we're doing today?"

"we're going to have a sleepover at niola's house." chris explains, his arms crossed over his chest like a child throwing a tantrum.

"but we're already at niola's house." nick points out.

"YEAH THAT'S THE FUCKING POINT!" chris yells.

"WHAT?" nick yells back, completely confused at what's going on.

"we came to her house because of the sleepover." matt explains calmly, trying to drive a wedge between his brothers' argument.

"oh." nick says, feeling stupid. "i thought we came over because matt missed her."

"wait! will your mom be here!?" camille asks excitedly. "i LOVE your mom!"

since camille didn't come to the dinner with everyone else when the triplets met jasmine, niola introduced camille to her mom a few days later. the meeting wasn't planned. at all. niola invited camille over to hang out and completely forgot that they've never met before.

it was really awkward when jasmine randomly found camille digging through the kitchen.

jasmine asked camille what she was searching for and she told her that she was looking for pop tarts. then they bonded over their favorite snacks and niola found them giggling together on the kitchen floor.

"yeah, my mom will be here." niola answers.

it's weird to say that. not only because she used to be unable to talk about her parents, but because niola's mom was never home.

but now that her money isn't constantly being wasted on drugs, alcohol, and gambling, jasmine doesn't have to be at work all day and night. she can take time off to spend time with her daughters without having to worry about getting food on the table for them.

"YAY!" camille cheers, throwing her arms up dramatically.

when she does, her wrist smacks chris in the nose. she immediately apologizes and makes sure chris isn't too injured. chris knows that she barely hit him and his nose doesn't even hurt. like, at all. but he likes how close to him she gets when she's worried. so he pretends like a bruise is forming on his face so she gets even closer to make sure there's no bruise.

"i bought some candy for the sleepover." matt tells niola when they're alone in the kitchen preparing snacks.

when everyone noticed that they never finished the movie they started a few hours ago, nick insisted that they try again. he really wanted to watch the film, it's not his fault chris doesn't know how to shut up when a movie is playing.

niola and matt were nominated the grab the food for the movie and they didn't argue. it'd be nice to get out of the chaos to have a moment of peace and quiet – which is practically impossible when nick and chris are always finding something to fight about.

"you didn't have to buy anything." niola tells him.

"i know you, nia." matt tells her. "you'd freak out trying to make everyone happy with everything so you'd want to buy nice things for tonight. and i wanted to take some stress off your shoulders for once."

"for once? matt, all you ever do is help me." niola says, her voice laced with disbelief. "i don't want you to spend any more money on me, okay? now that my mom's job is doing well, you don't have to carry the financial burden anymore."

"helping you isn't a burden." matt tells her. "i honestly enjoy making you happy because-"

she interrupts him by grabbing his face and kissing him. the kiss is short and sweet, just enough to make him stop talking.

"you make me happy just be being near me."

he smiles, leaning down to kiss her again.

a/n : surprise!! it's the last chapter 😝🤪😋 ik some are u are gonna have me but i made sure to close all loose ends. even tho i made the ending a bit open ended, all of ur questions were hopefully answered.
like we all know that nick and luke are like 😘 but they pretend they're not and we know that chris and cami are never gonna get together until they're like 80 years old 🙄🙄
anyway i'm already working on my next book and it'll hopefully be published in less than two or three months
