"uhh, matt?" niola said, looking up from his phone. "can i ask you something?"

matt glanced at her from the corner of his eye before saying, "anything."

rayne was now sitting in the backseat of the van, eating fistfuls of candy while niola got the passenger's seat all to herself.

"why's your name a literal simp in the group chat with nick, chris, and camille?" she asked, looking back down at the phone to read off each of their names. "i asked them but they just laughed and told me to ask you."

matt's face turned red.

he mentally cussed out each of them, promising to beat their asses once he got to the house.

"i don't know." he lied. "nick changed it. he thought it would be funny to give everyone weird names like that."

niola looked back down at his phone. it's true that they all have strange names that make no sense. i mean, carbohydrates and peebee? the only name that sort of makes sense is camille's. because in their friend group, she was the one getting everyone out of trouble.
