Chapter 6
Today was the weekend, Charlie was quieter than usual and mom went to work on Saturday's and Sunday's now. Charlie was kept up in his room, listening to his music on his Walkman. He didn't talk to me.
I wanted to go outside and have Charlie show me around more so I wouldn't get lost, "Hey Charlie," I walked into our shared bedroom. "Wanna show me around the city more?" Placing my hands on my hips and cocking my head with a small smile.
Charlie rolled his head on his pillows to look at me, blinked, then stared at the ceiling, still listening to his music, "Or not." I muttered with a small frown on my face.
Walking over to my small closet, I pulled out my Timberlands, grabbed my coat and hat on my bed, and stormed out of the bedroom. Ms. Conway was sitting on the sofa reading a book when I stormed into the living room.
I threw on my black coat over my mustard yellow sweater, then shoved my white knit hat over my curled high ponytail, "Where are you going, Vic?" Ms. Conway asked in a concerned curious voice.
"Out," I said before zipping up my jacket and leaving.
I walked down the sidewalk and passed a few alleys before finding the one where Karp went dumpster diving. When turning into the alley, my blood began to boil with rage.
Earlier That Same Day...
Karp, Peter, Guy, Averman, Jesse, and Terry all cheered as they pulled the pervy magazines from the cardboard box.
"Woah! Who would throw these away!" Averman flipped through the pages.
"Ok, first one is free, then the next two is five bucks each." Karp put the magazine down.
"Ya, come on guys! Fork it over!" Peter waved his hand.
Averman scoffed, "I can see this on MTV all day long."
Peter opened to a page of a swimsuit model, "Hey look guys this one is from Minneapolis," He looked over at Guy. "Hey Guy look! It's your mom!" Peter shoved the swimsuit models picture in Guy's face before dashing off with the magazine and Guy behind him.
Everyone dropped the magazines except Karp who slowly trailed behind them.
"Come on guys! Let's give 'em a wedgie!" Guy and Jesse pinned Peter to a wall.
"Come on guys! I was just kidding!" Peter pleaded. Karp was looking at every single page, devouring each picture.
Out of nowhere, the magazine was ripped from his hands, "Hey! Give that back!" He cried.
Three Hawks in they're signature black and blue jackets with the logo on the back on rollerblades stopped in front of them. None other than "The Three Stooges".
Larson held the magazine in his hand while smirking, "Hiya girls." The three chuckled lowly before skating circles around them.
"Does your mommy know you have that?" McGill mocked the boys in a baby voice.
"Nah, she's too busy with the mailman." Peter retorted while smirking and staring down the Hawks players.
"That'll make great bathroom reading." Banks smirked as the three skated in circles around them.
"None of your business, jerk!" Karp pointed at Banks. "I found it!"
"You wouldn't even know what to do with it, wuss-breath!" McGill snapped back.
Peter half chuckled before turning his head to Karp, "Ya gonna let'em call you wuss-breath?" He mumbled.
"NO!" Karp was about to attack McGill when something got thrown at his head.
Back To Victoria's POV...
"You wouldn't even know what to do with it, wuss-breath!" McGill snapped back at Karp. I frantically looked around for something to throw at him.
"NO!" Karp growled at McGill. Then I found a decent-sized rock and chucked it at the back of McGill's head.
"Oww." He winced and rubbed the back of his head.
"Hey, McGill!" I shouted. All the boys turned around to see me at the end of the alley. "Pick on someone your own size you big jerk!"
"Ya! GO VIC!" Averman cheered.
"Shut up." Larson snapped.
"Whoop their asses, Vic!" Jesse and Terry cheered.
"Shut up!" Larson snapped at Jesse and Terry.
"Well, well, well," McGill smirked. "What do we have here? I guess you couldn't wait to see my handsome face again." McGill played with his hair.
"Looks like Banks charming good looks couldn't keep away the girls after all," Larson chuckled lowly. "Looks like the magazines brought us good luck after all." Larson waved the magazine in the air, while the three laughed, then Larson threw the magazine to me, which landed near my feet. Looking down at the pervy magazine, I then looking up, I stepped over the magazine, and walked over to them slowly with a scowl on my face.
"Well now, since you know my name, I would assume you'd know Larson and Banks." McGill skated over to me.
"Unfortunately," I said lowly while staring him down.
"I did notice your eyes lingering over me during the match yesterday," Banks smirked and stopped a few feet in front of me and leaned in close to me, "You couldn't keep your pretty little eyes off me, Vic." He popped the C.
I chuckled and rolled my eyes, "You couldn't get that lucky even if you wanted to, rich boy." I crossed my arms. "And it's Victoria," My eyes met his piercing blue orbs. "Banks." I snarked in a stuffed-up voice.
"It's Adam actually, princess." McGill and Larson chuckled lowly in the background.
"Excuse me?" I fluttered my eyelashes in anger, then put my hands on my hips. "You did not just call me princess, Banks, cause I'll whoop your sorry rich ass." I snapped.
"Right." McGill elbowed Larson in the arm.
"Besides," I fluttered my eyelashes, walked around Banks, with my hands behind my back. I walked over to Larson to snatch the magazine from his hand, "Why would you guys have this type of reading material?" I dangled the magazine by my two fingers in front of McGill and Larson.
"We found it!" Karp yelled.
"Ya, they stole it!" Peter added, throwing his finger in the air, pointing at McGill, Larson, and Banks.
I nodded my head, then walked over to the group of boys, "I don't care who stole it, this is pervy stuff." I wacked Karp in the head with the magazine rolled up in my hand.
Karp winced and rubbed his head, "I'll deal with you guys later. You all should be thanking me for saving your asses." I muttered to Karp.
"It's none of your business what we read." McGill snapped.
"It technically is," I turned to McGill and walked over to him. "Sweetheart," I smirked, staring into his eyes. "When it involves half-naked women and all you pervy assholes." I pointed at the boys. "Except you guys, your not assholes." Waving my hand at the group of boys, Karp looked half confused with a mixed side of anger.
"Say that again, princess." Banks held his hand to his ear.
"You heard me, you pervy rich boy. Now go home and cry to your daddy that ya got showed up by a girl." I moved forward but got tripped by McGill who held his foot out to trip me. I landed on my face at the feet of Banks who bent down to my level.
"Look who's down on their feet now." Banks smirked.
"Oh, rich boy. You have no idea what type of quicksand you're getting into."
"Oh do explain." He stared into my eyes.
"I won't be silent. You can't keep me quiet, cause all I know that I won't go speechless." I smirked.
"That's it! I've had it!" Karp started. "No one messes with my friends!" He charged over to McGill, Larson, and Banks to take a swing at them but they pushed him down into the garbage.
"Come on bring it!" All the guys said to each other, while I picked myself up from the ground.
Then from behind McGill, Larson, and Banks, a huge towering figure came up behind them. He grabbed the back collars of McGill and Larson's jacket, then threw them aside on top of Karp, then he pushed Banks into the pile. The towering boy growled lowly at the three Hawks who got up and scattered.
The boys all thanked the towering boy but then he walked off without saying anything, "Hey wait!" I chased after the boy and grabbed his arm.
"What do you want!?" He snapped, a few black strands of his hair fell in his face when he snapped his head to look at me.
"I wanted to say thank you." My face dropped along with my voice. Shy and timid.
The boy looked down at my tiny hand gripping his arm, "Well you don't have to!" He ripped his arm out of my grasp and started storming away when I stepped in front of him.
"No, I mean it. It was an awful kind gesture." I looked up at his towering figure. "I'm Victoria Reed, but you can call me Vic." His face brightened a little bit.
"Are we distantly related?" He asked.
"No, not that I think, why?"
"Well, my last name is Reed too." He half chuckled. "Fulton Reed." His face lightened up.
I smiled widely at how we had the same last name, "That's funny and ironic." I chuckled.
"Well, I'm hoping to see you around, Reed." He smiled.
I held out my hand, waiting for Fulton to shake it, "Same here Reed." He reached out and shook it, smiling. Fulton was like a gentle giant. A beastly gentle giant. Then Fulton walked away without another word.
When I walked back to the boys, they were all smiling and thanking me for saving them, "I can't hear you!" I put my hand to my ear.
"Thank you!" They all yelled, which made me laugh.
"I can't believe you stood up some Hawks!" Peter smiled.
"That seriously took some balls, man," Guy added.
"So badass." Averman pushed up his glasses.
Their comments made the corner of my lips curl up, "Thanks guys, I think I've been home for a good amount of time, but I'll see ya all tomorrow at practice."
"K, bye Vic!" They waved, as I ran out of the alleyway and the whole way home. When I got back to the apartment, Ms. Conway was starting to make dinner. Running into the shared bedroom, I jumped on Charlie's bed, "Charlie! I stood up some Hawks!" I smiled. Charlie sat up and took his headphones off.
"You what?" He asked, obviously not hearing me the first time.
"Yeah some guys from the team were in an alleyway getting picked on by some Hawks and I stood them up!" Charlie's face lit up with excitement.
"Who!?"
"McGill, Larson, and Banks." I named off.
"Dang, that's badass!" We smiled and high-fived each other. Since Charlie was so intrigued and excited, he asked me to tell him the whole story before dinner.
