Authors Note
This book was a wonderful pleasure to make. The support, love, and feedback I have gotten from my friends are amazing. Two people who helped me push boundaries were Alana Johnston and Mason Sylvester, two very important people in my life.
Lana, one of my best friends, is the master of emotional stories. She helped me pursuit and push myself to get better. Hopefully, I did my best in this book, I definitely feel like I did. Mason is one of my life long friends. He's been in my life just one year short of my Best Friend For Life relationship whom I've known since 4th grade. I think he really enjoyed my story by all the questions I would throw at him. These two incredible people have helped and done so much for me already that I cannot repay.
For this book, I wanted the title to connect to the character, Victoria. Naomi Scott's song Speechless from the motion picture Aladdin, inspired me to use the song title as my book title. Victoria wanting her voice to be heard, standing up for others, helping others is why she will not go Speechless.
Victoria Reed is a representation of what I could have been. Confident and brave, standing up for wrong things. Using her voice as a weapon and not letting others push her around. Her characteristics are coming from me. A funny, smart, kind, helpful person who has been bullied at a young age.
In this story, I think bullying is a reoccurring theme throughout this story that I wanted to shed light on. Not only does it hurt the victim, but it also hurts the people around the victim who don't stand up and speak out using their voices as weapons. Like the old saying goes "The pen is mightier than the sword", I believe that is true. When writing about a global theme that people can relate to that people can actually read can get through easier than actual words. Coming from a person who has been bullied, it isn't fun when you get teased for your clothes, or pushed around, or gets your stuff knocked off your desk, or gets your stuff hidden in the library over not giving someone a beanbag that your sitting in and saying "no", it's not a fun experience to go through in elementary or middle school.
I hope, you the reader, enjoyed my story. I hope the characters were enjoyable to read about and I hope you enjoyed the plotline. Vic, Adam, Charlie, Coach Bombay, and the Ducks will be returning in the next story called Champions, the second installment of The Mighty Ducks Series.
Always remember to remember your home and your flock. Your flock will always stick with you. Heavy rain, thunderstorms, mud, tall buildings, and more, Ducks Fly Together.
Thank you again for everything! Now I will be needing some time to think, rest, and write the next story.
