9 - Return

No matter how hard I thought about it, I could not bring myself to believe that this was happening, that the Clone Wars would be willingly brought into Solaris. As soon as the Senate was adjourned, Sarin returned to Solaris, leaving me here on Coruscant. I should've known he wouldn't bring me back. After my breakdown, Anakin and Ahsoka brought me back to my room in the Temple to be alone.

I didn't leave my room for the next four hours. I could somehow sense people come to my door several times, and hear their muffled voices, but they left again every time. A little part of me secretly hoped that Anakin would visit me, but he never did. I lay wide awake on my bed, my thoughts running wild. I hadn't even bothered to change into nightwear and so I lay on my back in my Jedi tunic and pants, staring up at the ceiling.

I can't take it anymore.

I'm getting out of here.

I reach under my bed and grab Anakin's robe, pulling it over my shoulders as I run to my chair and seize my lightsaber, sheathing it in my belt. I pull Anakin's hood over my eyes and dash out of my room. I practically sprint to the aircraft hangar so no-one could see me. I run through the vast hangar, dashing over to an X-Wing. Just as I started to climb into the cockpit, I hear someone come up behind me. I jump backwards and ignite my lightsaber, pointing it at them as I turn around.

"Woah, woah (y/n)! It's just me! Are you ok?" I come face to face with Ahsoka, who throws her hands up in surrender. I sigh and deactivate my saber.

"Ahsoka! You gave me a heart attack."

Ahsoka eyes the X-Wing behind me, "What are you doing?"

Damn it, she caught me.

"I'm not going to lie to you 'Soka, you're my best friend... I'm returning to Solaris."

Ahsoka's eyes widen. "Does Anakin-"

"No, he doesn't, and I'm trusting you not to tell anyone where I went, Ahsoka. You hear me?"

She sighs and places a hand on my shoulder, "I trust you (y/n). I won't tell anyone. Just please, send me a transmission if you get in trouble. I can't bear to lose my sister."

My heart aches when Ahsoka called me her sister. I pulled her into a hug, squeezing her as if to tell her 'I'll be ok'. We'd see each other again... right? I pulled away from her, but she kept me in her embrace, not wanting to let go. I give her one last squeeze and her arms loosen. I nod to her, and climb back into the X-Wing placing the headgear over my head. I could see Ahsoka watch the ship, grasping her arms worriedly. I take a deep breath and start up the engine, making sure all the right controls were operational. I had never flown by myself before, but I had watched Anakin, Ahsoka and Obi-Wan closely... how hard could it be? I pulled back a lever and the X-Wing left the ground, flying out of the open hatch, watching Ahsoka become nothing but a small speck standing alone in the hangar.

I fly higher and higher in the sky, until the city began to get smaller and smaller as I soared through the stratosphere. Luckily, I was an expert in star-charters and astronomy, so I was able to navigate to the correct co-ordinates. I first fly over towards the Naboo system, near where the star that I pointed to Anakin was.

"Just past that cluster, if you hit hyperspace at that exact co-ordinate, you'll end up in the Solaris system."

As I continue to fly straight, I spot the star. I press the button to lock in the hyperspace ring and fly full speed at the star. 3,2....

"1," I say to myself out loud as I punch the hyperspace button. A blurred array of blue, black and white light suddenly surrounds my ship as I leave the Naboo system. I take in the colours as I reach the end of the tunnel where my beloved planet came into view. I was home. I fly towards the location where Vis and my palace was. I landed in the forest, not wanting to be spotted by Sarin or my guards. I climb out of my ship and start to walk in the direction of my palace.

If Sarin wants to bring to Clone Wars to my planet, it'll have to go through me first.

{ANAKIN'S POV}

I couldn't stand her being alone in her room, especially after what happened today. I had tried to go to her room three times tonight, but I just couldn't bring myself to go in. Fourth times the charm, right? I walk back to her room, and this time, I actually knock on the door.

No answer.

"Princess? It's me."

No answer. I knock on the door again, "(y/n)?"

Still nothing. I use the force to open her door and walk inside, praying she was ok. The only light in the room, was from the moonlight shining from her window onto her mattress, highlighting an object in silver light. My heart races as I approach the bed. I stare down at the object, not wanting to believe it.

Her tiara.

I pace the room, getting myself more and more worked up. I rested my head in my hands, and threw the chair at the wall through the force, breaking it in two. I run my hands through my hair and grasp onto it stressfully. She was gone. Really gone this time, I could sense it. The noise I made throwing the chair made a significantly loud bang, drawing Obi-Wan and Ahsoka to the doorway.

"Master, what's wrong??" Ahsoka says, walking over to me. I felt her gentle hand on my shoulder and I felt Obi-Wan shoot me a disapproving look.

"Anakin, what are you doing in the Princess' room?"

I look up to face him, trying to fight back the tears. "Because she's gone, Master."

I saw panic grow on Obi-Wan's face, and Ahsoka takes her hand from my shoulder, shying away into a corner. She scratches her forearm awkwardly and directs her eyes to the floor. I don't look too much into it, my mind spinning with thoughts of (y/n).

"Where in blazes could she have gone now?" Obi-Wan said, scratching his beard as he paced the room. I notice him stop at her bed, picking up her tiara and staring longingly at it with sad eyes. I raise my eyebrows at him, Obi-Wan never acts like this.

"I don't know. Did anyone see her tonight?" I say, standing up and scanning the room. My gaze goes from the broken chair on the floor, and lifted to land on Ahsoka. We met eyes for a moment, but she directed hers back to the floor quickly. Rather too quickly.

"Snips, do you know anything about this?"

"No. No I don't, why-why would I?" she says defensively, causing Obi-Wan to look to Ahsoka also. We exchange glances and both stand in front of her, side by side.

"Well, you and the Princess are practically attached at the hip. You spend more time with her than any of us, Ahsoka," Obi-Wan says calmly. Ahsoka glares at the two of us.

"I don't know! Stop interrogating me!"

She was lying.

"Snips, you don't realize the type of trouble she could be in. She could be anywhere in the galaxy, unprotected and alone. Are you aware of how many people would find it valuable to have a Princess in their possession? For example, I don't know.... the assassin?" I say, folding my arms. I didn't want to think of (y/n) having a bounty over her head, but I needed Ahsoka to confess. I watch Ahsoka squirm uncomfortably; it was working. It was Obi-Wan's turn now.

"Tell me, young one. Could you live with yourself knowing that you could have prevented her death if you would have told us, but it was too late and the Princess was indeed dead?"

"STOP! Fine, I'll tell you, just stop saying such horrible things!"

She snapped. Bingo.

"Where is she, Snips."

"She's gone back to Solaris. She told me not to tell anyone."

Obi-Wan and I exchange glances, both of our eyes showing how terrified we were about this information. Ahsoka slumped down on the bed, placing her chin in her hands, disappointed in herself.

"We need to inform her Senator that she is missing," Obi-Wan says, raising his wrist-com to his mouth. I place my hand over it and push his arm back down to his side.

"No, Master. (y/n) says that Sarin cannot be trusted, and so we must trust her judgement."

"And you must trust mine, my apprentice. It's the only logical thing to do, Anakin. Do you want her safe or not?" Of course I did, but why did we need to tell Sarin she was missing. I lower my head in submission and Obi-Wan raises his wrist to his mouth once more. The familiar static noise fills the room for a few minutes until the transmission connects with a click.

"Senator Sarin?" Obi-Wan speaks to his wrist.

"Who is this?"

"General Obi-Wan Kenobi. I am with General Skywalker, Princess (y/n)'s protector. We have some distressing news."

"What the hell do you mean, you have 'distressing news'. The Princess better be safe, Jedi, otherwise there'll be hell to pay." I grimaced as Sarin threatened Obi-Wan. Thank the force he was in charge of the speaking, I would have completely lost it as soon as I heard his crackly voice.

"The Princess has escaped in the night Senator, our Padawan Tano tells us that she is returning back to Solaris."

Sarin hesitated, but spoke back to us aggressively. "You better find her, I want you over here. NOW."

The transmission ends abruptly with another click. Obi-Wan sighs and lowers his arms, looking at me and Ahsoka. I met eyes with Ahsoka, who had her gaze fixed on my hands, which seemed to have subconsciously curled in a fist when listening to Sarin.

"You heard the Senator. I guess we're going to take a visit to Solaris," Obi-Wan said, walking out. Ahsoka follows him closely behind. I'm not sure she is supposed to come, but I'm not going to stop her either; I know how close she and (y/n) are.

(y/n).

That's all I could think about. I silently pleaded that she would be safe, I don't know how I'm going to live without her. I just had her in my life, and as if by magic, she's gone like she never even existed. I swear if she's hurt, I will personally track down her attacker and kill them with my bare hands.

Obi-Wan, Ahsoka and I took the next available ship that was prepped and ready to leave, meaning we were delaying a squadron from being to deployed, but I didn't care. I wanted to get to Solaris as fast as possible. I piloted the ship out of Coruscant and towards the Naboo system. Obi-Wan lectured me on taking unnecessary short cuts, but I didn't listen. I listened to (y/n)'s voice replaying over and over in my head instead.

"Just past that cluster, if you hit hyperspace at that exact co-ordinate, you'll end up in the Solaris system."

How could I forget that night. I locked the hyperspace rings and flew towards the co-ordinate (y/n) told me about.

"Anakin what the devil are you doing?"

I ignored him and jumped to hyperspace anyways.

"Anakin!"

I'm coming (y/n).

{ a/n : I'm sorry there was so much dialogue in this chapter! Thank you for all the love and support and I hope you enjoyed this chapter and are looking forward to the ones coming in the near future... things are about to go down ;) }
