3 - The Council

"I-I've lost the Princess."

"What the devil do you mean, you've 'lost the Princess'?! You had one job Anakin-" Obi-Wan seemed disappointed.

"Obi-Wan, now's not really time for a lecture don't you think? (y/n) is not in her room, not in the corridor, something could have happened to her!"

"Princess (y/n), Anakin. Calm yourself, my friend. We will find her. I'll be there soon."

Obi-Wan ends the transmission with a click and I lower my wrist back down to my sides. I run my hands through my hair stressfully as I pace the room. The council is gonna have my head if something has happened to (y/n)... saying that they'll probably have my head anyways. I don't know how I'm going to live with myself if she's hurt, what the hell is she going to think of me?! I promised her no harm would come to her and now she's vanished off into the night!

Whatever I do, I can not let the Senator from Solaris find out about this. He trusted me with the Princess' life, and if she happens to be dead or injured, I am going to be in deeper trouble than a lecture from Obi-Wan.  In the meantime, I search for clues in (y/n)'s room which could possibly lead me to her. Unfortunately, I find nothing, but I do hear a knock on the door.

"Princess (y/n)?" I call out. The door slides open and in walks my Master.

"Sorry to disappoint you, but it's just me."

"That's not funny."

"It amused me, my paranoid friend. Now, where do you think we can find her?" Obi-Wan laughed.

I thought hard for a second. "Don't you think I would have already gone if I knew?"

"You don't think that her disappearance possibly could have anything to do with the clone who brought her to us earlier today? I happened to notice them have a rather brief conversation. CT-4974, I believe?"

"That's Moxie, he's from my battalion. I could track him, if you think he is a possible lead to (y/n)'s disappearance," I said to Obi-Wan walking back to my bedroom. He nodded to me and I pulled out my data pad, inputting Moxie's details so I could track him. "He's stationed in the East Wing... that's strange. He should be with the other troops, not here in the Senate building."

"Maybe we should pay him a visit then," Obi-Wan smirked. I nod to him, and we both sprint off towards the East Wing. As we ran, I couldn't stop thinking about (y/n) and the danger she could be in.. because of me. I could sense Obi-Wan was conflicted also, but my thoughts were solely centred on (y/n) and (y/n) only.

As we reached the East Wing, Obi-Wan held out his hand for me to stop. He reached for his lightsaber and held the hilt in his grasp as we sneaked around the corner. I could hear faint voices down the corridor, so hope was slowly regaining in me. As we walked further down the corridor, I noticed a clone stood with a familiar young woman in a lilac silk nightgown.

{Y/N POV}

"What do you mean you didn't find anything?!" I demand.

Moxie sighs from under his helmet. "I wasn't allowed entry into Sarin's office. It was locked, your highness. I couldn't even bug his apartment to listen in. I'm sorry."

I turn away from him and  attempt to walk away, annoyed that I am yet again clueless on how to help my people and what is to become of them.

As I start to walk, Moxie suddenly grabs my arm, pulling me backwards. "Princess, I really am sorry-"

I stare at his hand on my arm, and then I suddenly hear footsteps approaching us. We both turn to look and find Obi-Wan and Anakin sprinting towards us, lightsabers in hand.

"Let go of her, now!" Anakin yelled.

"This isn't what it looks like-" I begin to speak, but Anakin had already tore Moxie's hand from me, and also straight through my sentence. He grabbed my shoulders securely and looked me dead in the eyes, his curls falling onto his forehead messily.

"Are you ok, are you hurt?" he said softly yet frantically and I shook my head.

We locked eyes with each other, mine drowning in his blue eyes. I felt as though I could look in them for hours, unable to tear my gaze from them. I felt Anakin tighten his grip on my shoulders, making me look at his gloved hand on my arm. I pulled away, making him let go. We turned to face Obi-Wan who was stood by Moxie to prevent him from escaping - not that he'd even done me any harm.

"What were you doing with the Princess at this hour? Were you the one who abducted her from her quarters?" Obi-Wan questioned.

I rolled my eyes and stepped in front of Moxie defensively. "No he didn't. I sneaked out of my room to meet CT-4974 as we had unfinished business. And no, it is not any of your business either."

Obi-Wan stroked his beard and exchanged glances with Anakin, who was shooting deadly glares at Moxie. I folded my arms at the two Jedi, and dismissed Moxie. I turned to face Anakin and Obi-Wan.

"What were you thinking (y/n)? I thought you were in trouble!" Anakin protested. I raised my eyebrow at him addressing me by my first name, which Obi-Wan also seemed to disapprove of.

"Anakin, remember your place. With all due respect, my lady, why couldn't you have simply called for CT-4974 in the morning?"

I rolled my eyes once more at these insolent questions. "I fail to see how it is your business, General. Perhaps you forget your pla-"

Once again, my sentence is cut short, but this time not by Anakin. The sound of a blaster being fired echoes through the corridor, and nearly hits me in my neck. Thank god my reflexes are good, because it probably would have been fatal if I had not dodged it in time. Our attention is directed to the far side of the corridor, where another masked individual was stood grasping a blaster. They looked just as the assassin on Solaris did.

Obi-Wan ignited his lightsaber and stepped in front of Anakin and me protectively, his frame locked and ready to fight, blocking any fires made by the attacker.

"Anakin, take the Princess to the Temple; she'll be safe there. GO!"

Anakin took one last look at his Master and turned to me. He looked at me with fearful, yet reassuring eyes. I nodded. I didn't want to leave but I also did not want to die. Not today at least. We started running, faster and faster until I could barely breathe. I tried to fall back, but Anakin simply grabbed my hand and dragged me further until we were in the ship hangar. We sprinted over to a speeder, and Anakin helped me inside. He took his place next to me and flew the ship out of the open hatch, both of our chests rapidly moving up and down. I grabbed tightly onto the sides of the ship as Anakin flew at a terrifying speed.

"Must you fly so recklessly?" I yell as Anakin plunges the ship straight down.

He simply laughed in response. God. His laugh was so contagious, adorable even. Even though that he annoyed the living hell out of me, I couldn't prevent a smile coming on my face after listening to him laugh. I allow myself to slowly let go of the sides of the speeder, and it was at this time I noticed I had also accidentally grabbed Anakin's thigh. I removed it immediately and focused on the lit city before us, smiling as the cold air blew through our hair.

As Anakin levelled out the ship once we neared the Jedi Temple, our heads turned to face each other. I end up lost in his eyes once more, focusing on them gleam in the starlight. As he looks at me, I see him smile, snapping me out of my thoughts and causing me to direct my gaze forwards. I see Anakin's smile fall as he flies into the aircraft hangar.

As we land, Anakin helps me out of the speeder once again. I grab clumps of my nightgown so not to trip, but I unfortunately fail. I fall off the side of the speeder but Anakin caught me in his strong arms, wrapping them around my waist. Awkwardly, I push him away and move my [y/h/c] out of my face.

"Come with me, Princess. You can sleep in my Padawan's room while she's away," Anakin says, outstretching his arm to the doors at the end of the hangar. I follow his lead until he leads me to a completely new location. We end up in the dormitories of the Jedi Temple, and I am placed in a room. Anakin tells me goodnight and I walk inside. I hear the door lock behind me.

"Did you lock the door?!" I call to him.

"Yes, and I'm going to keep watch outside your door for the rest of the night. Sleep well," Anakin called back, his voice muffled. My jaw drops, he really trapped me in here like a creature. I walk over to the bed and lie down, watching the ceiling until my eyes drift closed at last.

***

The next morning, Anakin escorts me to meet with the Jedi Council. We are joined by Obi-Wan, who fortunately had made it back alive after our encounter with the masked assassin. I stand awkwardly with the two men, playing with the blue skirt of my dress which was brought to me during the night. After too long of an uncomfortable silence, we are called into the room. In the wide room, Jedi Council members were sat in chairs spread about in a circle formation. Anakin leads me to the centre of the room, facing a small, green alien and a man next to him.

"Princess (y/n). It is a pleasure to have you here," the man said to me.

I bow my head in response. I notice Anakin avoid the eyeline of this man in particular, as if he unnerved him or something.

"We are rather fortunate to see you alive, your highness. I understand that Skywalker here, almost cost you your life, for the second time that day?" the man said, glaring at Anakin in disapproval, who clenched his fists behind his back.

I take a look at the expression on Anakin's face, who looked as though he was about to be executed or something. I exhale. "Actually, Master Jedi, it was my fault. I sneaked out of my quarters without General Skywalker's knowledge and then was attacked. Yes, it was indeed his job to protect me, but I did this intentionally. You need not punish him."

Anakin looked surprised by my sudden defence.

"We will come to later, Skywalker's punishment. For now, unmask the assassin, we must." The green alien spoke up. It took me a moment to decipher what he was actually telling me, as his cryptic method of speaking baffled my mind. Obi-Wan stepped forward.

"After Anakin took the Princess to the temple, I was able to get a small look at them. They were masked, but their armour had no resemblance to any terrorist groups who could want the Princess dead. I came to the conclusion of a bounty hunter perhaps?"

The green alien searched his mind for answers but failed to come up with anything.

"Difficult, this is. But a way to protect the Princess, we must find. Leave it with the council, we will."

Obi-Wan and Anakin bowed their heads to their masters and lead me back outside. I stood before them, as they mumbled to each other. I cleared my throat, bringing their attention back onto me.

"So what happens now?" I ask.

"The Council will discuss a method to keep you hidden and safe, especially seeing as your supposed assassin managed to track you down all the way from Solaris. That is, if they are indeed working alone."

I had spent majority of the rest of the day, sat alone in Anakin's Padawan's room. I was anxiously awaiting news from the Council and what was to become of me, but the idea of getting word back was starting to fade more and more as time passed. At around sunset, Anakin retrieved me from the room and brought me to another room, secluded with a table inside and food laid out upon it. My stomach growled at me as I realised I hadn't actually eaten since my arrival to the planet let alone the Temple.

Anakin and Obi-Wan took their seats opposite me, and decided to indulge in a little food themselves.

"The Council have reached a decision, my lady," Obi-Wan spoke up, wiping his mouth with a napkin. I nodded, listening intently. This was it.

Anakin interrupted and finished for him. "The Council want to disguise you as a Jedi."
