18 - Her or Me
{ANAKIN'S POV}
"Going somewhere?" a man grasping a blaster sneered at us as he loomed in the doorway, a twisted grin plastered upon his mouth.
I felt (y/n)'s grip tighten around my hand and she stiffens a little before pulling me behind her protectively. I look down at the back of her unruly hair in confusion and then back at the man in front of us. He had messy brown hair, brown eyes which glared into (y/n)'s and fully black clothing, complete with a bandage wrapped tightly around his shoulder.
"S-stay away from him-" (y/n)'s voice wobbled a little as she tried her best to sound confident and menacing towards this mysterious person.
The brown haired man grins at her, laughing lowly before approaching us. (y/n) places her hand on my chest to push me backwards as he came towards us.
"I said stay away from him!" she yelled, making the man chuckle to himself once more and raise his eyebrow at her in amusement.
"Are you not going to introduce me to your friend, Starlight?" the man asked rather softly yet aggressively at the same time. I saw (y/n)'s chest heave a little up and down as she shifts her glance from him to me.
Starlight? Does (y/n) know this creep?
I glare at him as he cocks his head to the side, staring at (y/n)'s uncomfortable face, "No? Fine then, but you're only being rude. If mother could see you now-"
Strangely this triggered something in (y/n), making her try to run at the man. I quickly seize her by the waist to hold her back, her legs flailing around as I suspended her a little over the ground. This however only seemed to amuse the man even further.
She tried to push my arms from her waist but I held her securely as she became more distressed, "Anakin let me at him! Let me go, let me at him," she strained her voice as she moved, making my heart ache a little. As much as I wanted to let her go full on crazy at this guy, I knew I needed to keep her alive.
The man sniggers, shifting his glance above (y/n)'s head to me, "Anakin as in Anakin Skywalker? The Jedi General? Ah yes, I've heard lots about you."
I raise my eyebrow at him, "Well that's funny, because (y/n) has never mentioned you."
He holds his hand to his heart as though he was deeply offended and doubled up laughing, making me feel a little uneasy. Why was this guy laughing so much, I fail to comprehend how this is a funny situation.
"Really? (y/n) I have to say, I'm deeply offended. How could you not tell your own boyfriend about your dear older brother?"
"I'm not her boyfriend-" I say to him defensively, letting the rest of his sentence completely pass over my head, "Hang on a second. Did you say her brother?"
He says nothing, but bows and smirks at me in response.
"Meaning you're Ayzel... but (y/n) said you were dead!" I protest, trying to process this information. I look down at (y/n)'s face, where tears were falling from her eyes as she refuses to look at either of us.
"Clearly not. I thought you Jedi were a bit brighter than that," Ayzel sneers at me, making my fists curl in frustration.
I watch as Ayzel shifts his glance back to (y/n), smiling at the sight of her tears. He slowly approached her but she seemed to be rooted to her spot, allowing him to stand directly in front of her. He raises his hand to her face and wipes his thumb down her cheek to dry her tears. My chest tightens a little as he does this, gearing myself up to rip his hand from her beautiful cheek. Just as I was about to push him, (y/n) bites Ayzel's thumb roughly as he brings it near her mouth. He pulls away in pain, shaking his hand in frantically. A look of pure anger takes over his facial expression and looks as though he was about to kill (y/n), but before he could move towards her, I step in front of (y/n) protectively and ignite my lightsaber, stopping Ayzel in his tracks as he reaches my blue blade.
"I don't think so," I say to him protectively.
Ayzel laughs at me manically, "Stupid Jedi. You can't defend her forever, I'll have her dead either way... even if it means killing you first," Ayzel said, raising the blaster and pointing it at my head. I stare directly down the barrel of the gun, gulping as a sick grin spreads across Ayzel's mouth.
"I won't let you lay a single finger on her if it's the last thing I ever do-"
I felt (y/n) grab onto my arm, pulling me back, "Anakin, I'm not worth it. I can't let him hurt you," she says with tears in her eyes. I stare longingly into her pleading eyes, feeling myself tearing up at the thought of having to part ways due my imminent death at the hands of her monster of a brother.
Ayzel rolls his eyes at us and sets his blaster from stun to kill, ready to fire at any one of us, "How very touching. Now give me my sister General, or I'm afraid it's the end of the line for you."
"Why the hell would you even want to hurt her?!" I ask him, pointing my lightsaber directly in front of his abdomen.
"Because - although it's none of your freaking business - she has taken everything that is rightfully mine from me, and she needs to pay," Ayzel growled at me, his hand shaking with fury as he continued to hold the blaster at my head.
I sigh, looking from Ayzel's murderous expression down to the pure devastation on (y/n)'s face.
I have to make my decision.
Her or me.
I need to make it now.
Her or me.
...obviously I know what the only right choice is.
Me.
I take one last look at (y/n) and give her a weakened smile. Knowing what I was going to do, I watch her mouth 'no' frantically at me, trying to keep her grip firmly around my bicep. I rip my arm from hers and use the force to push her across the room away from her deranged brother. I stare worriedly after her as she slides across the floor and hitting a wall before turning back to Ayzel who was now practically seething with rage. He laughs in that same low and bone-chilling chuckle before staring me directly in the eyes.
"How noble of you, Skywalker... yet also how foolish."
"Not foolish, my lord. Whenever it comes down to me or her, I will always choose her. It's just what you do when you love someone," I say to Ayzel, my heart racing as I realise how much I truly love her and how I'm now not going to be able to do anything about it.
Ayzel rolls his eyes once more and suddenly charges at me. I swing my lightsaber at him, hoping to at least damage him as he comes for me, but unfortunately I miss as he jumps over the blade and somersaulting over my head. Landing behind me, I quickly swivel around to face him and as I do, he uses his blaster to hit me, causing a blow to my jaw. I land on the floor, my lightsaber falling out of my grip and shooting across the room. Ayzel grins as he fires his blaster at me, causing a scorch mark on the stone floor as I manage to roll out of the shot just in time. I look to my lightsaber which had landed just in front of (y/n) and I outstretch my arm so it could make its way back to me. I glance at (y/n), who was trying to run back over to my aid. I shake my head as my lightsaber comes flying back into my grasp and I use the force to push her back to the wall.
This was between me and Ayzel.
Tearing my eyes from (y/n), I take another swipe at Ayzel's leg but he unfortunately managed to dodge the attack once more. I realise to myself that he was more than likely expecting an attack from my lightsaber and not from me, and so I quickly devise a little different strategy. Retracting my lightsaber blade, I move towards Ayzel and sweep my foot under his legs, causing him to collapse on his back on the hard floor. I quickly kick his blaster from his grip as he struggles to regain the air which was abruptly knocked out of him. Pinning him to the floor, I use my boot to hold his arms to the ground as I held my lightsaber just inches above his heart.
Kill him Anakin.
I take deep breaths as I tighten my grip on the hilt of my saber, looking straight into Ayzel's eyes. For a brief moment, I swear I saw a small glimmer of humanity deep in his eyes... ugh why can't I just kill him now?!
Because he's the last living member of (y/n)'s family.
But he wants her dead!
She would never forgive you.
I move my head to face (y/n) across the room, who was on her hands and knees watching our duel with worried eyes. My gaze is stuck to her as I completely forget about Ayzel, not wanting to take my eyes off of her. Sometimes I really hate how ridiculously beautiful she was, it's distracting, captivating even-
"ANAKIN!" she suddenly screams, snapping me out of my thoughts. I tear my eyes from her as my head snaps back to face the floor, realising that I was no longer standing above Ayzel. Panicking I try to turn around, looking for him.
But I'm not fast enough.
My breath hitches and I struggle to breathe as I see Ayzel's arms come from under mine behind me and a sharp, piercing feeling slashes across my abdomen. I collapse to the floor, spluttering as my hands press to the open wound. I hold my hands in front of my eyes and notice that they were now stained red from my own blood. I look up to see Ayzel stood grinning above me, now grasping a bloody dagger in his closed fists.
He laughs quietly and kicks me harshly in the sides, causing me to bleed out faster. My eyes widen as he grabs me by the neck of my tunic and aims the dagger at my throat.
This was it.
The end.
I squeeze my eyes shut as I prepare for the agonising pain of a knife being lodged into my throat... but the feeling never comes. I open my eyes and watch Ayzel suddenly fly across the room, violently crashing against the wall, causing a few cracks to appear as he lands in a heap on the floor. My eyes shift over to the opposite side of the room and see (y/n) running across the room to me. She collapses at my side and pulls my head gently on her lap, stroking my curls softly.
"Anakin... Anakin stay with me ok. It's ok, you'll be ok," she rambles frantically, one of her tears dripping onto my forehead. I weakly press my blood-stained hands on hers as my vision becomes blurry. My breathing pattern suddenly becomes uneven, my breath becoming staggered and in short takes. (y/n) gives me a broken smile as I suddenly spit up blood from my mouth, tasting the metallic liquid pooling out of my mouth.
Now being unable to move, my eyes dart over to Ayzel who was slowly heaving himself up from the floor, wiping blood from his nose. He shot a deadly look at (y/n), who had angry tears streaming down her face.
"Stay away from us Ayzel, I mean it. STAY AWAY!" she screams at him, causing the ground to suddenly shake and making Ayzel fall back on the floor, hitting his head on the cracked stone.
What the hell?
How did she do that?
I stare back up at (y/n), trying to ignore the feeling of my blood slowly draining from my body like a sink full of water. She is fixated on Ayzel, a murderous expression pasted on her face as her chest heaves up and down due to her anger. My vision becomes more hazy as my hand reaches for her cheek, bringing her to look at me.
I jump a little as I stare into her watery eyes, seeing something I hadn't before.
Am I hallucinating?
I have to be.
Her eyes-
I try to keep calm and keep my breath steady but it was hard seeing as (y/n)'s eyes were literally flashing from her (y/e/c) eye colour to a yellow and then back to her usual colour again.
"Anakin, Anakin don't you dare die on me. I will never forgive you; please don't leave me," she mumbles frantically, keeping my hand pressed to her cheek.
I give her one weakened smile before finally succumbing to peace, my vision going completely black, her angelic face the last thing I saw.
{Y/N'S POV}
My heart drops as Anakin's eyes slowly drift close, his hand falling from my cheek down to his side. I felt his head fall slightly to the side as I try to breathe through my tears.
"Anakin? Anakin come on, you're ok right? Anakin? Anakin!" I yell, frantically trying to shake him whilst trying to stop the bleeding, my hands now completely covered in his blood. Tears stream down my cheeks, my nose running, it now hurting for me to breathe as I start to panic.
My eyes dart to the other side of the room, seeing Ayzel hoist himself from the floor once again. I watch him grin as he stares at the pool of blood surrounding me and Anakin's seemingly lifeless body. I struggle to conceal my anger and hate as my bloody hands curl into fists, staring Ayzel directly in the eyes. I don't know what I did, but he genuinely looked startled as he stared back at me. I watch his eyes dart to the door and back to me with Anakin, smiling. He salutes to me and makes a break for it, disappearing out of the door. I look longingly after him, desperately wanting to go after Ayzel and kill him for what he did to Anakin.
That was until I peered back down at the extremely pale Anakin, who's limp head was still laying on my lap. I felt my anger slowly fizzle away and is replaced with pure sadness, bending down and resting my forehead on his.
I let out loud, agonizing sobs as I hold Anakin's head in my hands. My eyes scan down his body until they land on his wrist, where his com-link was. My eyes widen and I slide it off Anakin's wrist and onto my own. I press the button frantically and raise it to my mouth.
"Hello? Hello anyone?!" I say into it frantically.
I lose hope after two minutes of deadly silence, but I try again, hoping to reach someone.
"Hello? Anyone!"
"(y/n)? (y/n) oh my god is that you?" I heard Ahsoka's voice sound through the transmission and I breathe a sigh of relief.
"Ahsoka... Ahsoka help.." I cry in broken sobs.
"What is it, (y/n)?!"
"It's Anakin."
